This man is exactly what we needed. We force so many turnovers and score off them too. Our defense went from a huge minus to a huge plus with one guy, boosting us on both ends. Dare I say his impact is DPOY level?
This is also why I dismiss stat queens. So much of what he does doesn’t show up on the sheet. Some days his stats look nice, some not—but every day his impact is huge, and you won’t find it in stat sheets.

smart was a HUGE pickup in the offseason. Not only has he been great individually, but his vocalness and leadership on the court (and mentorship off-court) have been very noticeable.
I’m really impressed with Marcus. 7 steals is INSANE.
Great pickup by the Lakers and at an even better price of ~$5 million/year.

If I’m not mistaken he had another signature dice catch. I swear this guy is an elite goalie in an alternate reality. Those dive catches are unreal. His presence really consolidates this team. Was he this impactful for the Celtics?
Marcus is a player we really needed, as seen from previous seasons. We have always had a weak bench and no real solid two way players which made us lack on defence. With Ayton and Marcus now it should be different.

Since Caruso/KCP we haven’t had great on-ball point of attack defenders, love having someone who can put consistent pressure on ball handlers

My love is a 6’6 and under DPOY level defender. These kinds of players are so rare and sadly always get less love from the accolades standpoint
