  1. Well deserved. Glad it was unanimous. Wilson or Anthony would have probably won it last year which is tough

  2. The last A’s Rookie of the Year was Andrew Bailey in 2009.

**Active Rookie of the Year droughts**

    Padres, 1987 (Benito Santiago)
    Guardians, 1990 (Sandy Alomar)
    Twins, 1995 (Marty Cordova)
    Cardinals, 2001 (Albert Pujols)
    Blue Jays, 2002 (Eric Hinske)
    Rockies, 2002 (Jason Jennings)

  3. Kid is an absolute stud. Man, if the As can develop or actually invest money in some pitching, this is a legitimately fun team with their young core.

Hopefully fisher sells the team or wakes the fuck up

  4. 4 homer game in your rookie year still sounds fucking insane. Actually all of his slugging stats are pretty insane (which includes his splits honestly).

  5. Wow. I am sooo surprised. Totally didn’t expect this. /s

But well deserved. He already has brought so much excitement into the sport. I’m excited to watch him play the next decade or so.

  6. Nice! Is that Oakland’s fourth rookie of the year? (please don’t bother pointing out that I referred to A’s as “Oakland“)

  7. I’m not entirely sure how contracts work for rookies during their first years work with their capped contracts, but could the A’s extend him to a long contract similar to the Royals with Bobby Witt Jr?

Of course, there is a big risk in signing anyone with a singular good rookie season but it would be a decent gamble for a franchise trying to literally rebuild itself like the A’s, and Kurt’s should be relatively easy to entice with a good but not outrageous contract.

  8. Sorry if this is a dumb question but what’s he got in his right hand in the main pic?
