The Jazz are screwing this up

The Jazz need to change what they’re doing with Ace Bailey. Let’s talk about it. It’s the Hoopster Show. [Music] Like always guys, make sure you like the video, subscribe to the channel. All right, so we’re already like eight or nine games into the season. The Jazz have had an interesting start to the year. They’re now sitting at 3 and5. There’s a very strong case that Utah could be at like 1-7. They barely beat the Boston Celtics. They barely beat the Phoenix Suns. And it’s time for the Utah Jazz to decide what they are and what they want to do with this year and learn from the mistakes they’ve made the last three seasons that have led them to really not much of a difference of a team. Uh they’ve seen some nice development from Keonte George this year, but for the most part this season’s been pretty predictable. The only thing that was super unpredictable that I didn’t see coming is that the Utah Jazz decided that SE Mcky was much more important to the future of the team than Ace Bailey. Now, we’ve gotten all the different reports at the beginning of the year how sick uh Ace Bailey was. I mean, there’s been conflicting reports on just how sick he was. There was the tendonitis thing. Who knows? I don’t know what the truth is completely based off of the things we’ve been told by the Jazz and based on what we’ve been told by reporters. And to be honest, it doesn’t make a lot of sense because it’s really clear the Jazz don’t really have a very clear idea of what they want from this season. Before the season started, they traded Jordan Clarkson, John Collins, and Colin Ston to clear the way for the young players to play only to have SV Mcky getting minutes over Ace Bailey. It doesn’t make sense. And Utah has a very good opportunity to be high in the draft again and draft a generational player in one of Darren Peterson, Cam Boozer, or AJ Debonsa. Instead, they’re not doing anything that makes any sense. They’re trying to win games and also not develop their young star that they would have drafted at three had they won that spot in the lottery. And so Jazz fans are left in confusion, not knowing what to do. And you know who else is in confusion of what’s going on? The Utah Jazz marketing and social team. Go look at all the posts. Go look at all the ads. Everything includes Ace Bailey. So it seems like everyone is expecting Ace Bailey to play except for the Jazz and the front office themselves. I mean, I see the numbers when I talk Ace Bailey. When team When we talked about Ace Bailey during the draft, it was huge. Fans are excited to watch Ace Bailey, not SV Mik. And Ace Bailey is the future. The fans are right on this. It’s not the the SV Mik show down the road. Will S Mik even be on the team next year? Probably not. But you know who will be? Ace Bailey. And you know what’s important for Ace Bailey right now? Development. Getting a chance to play with the better players on the team. This coming off the bench thing and judging him based off of that is also not fair because he’s not playing with the best players on the team. And building chemistry with the players that he’ll play with in the future. Every minute that he’s on the floor not with Keonte George is a mistake because who will he be playing with in the future? Keonte George. So, wouldn’t you want to have him getting that experience now with Keonte instead of trying to rush that experience later? And speaking of Keonte George, it’s been like 3 years for him to finally get the opportunity to play and to start. For three years, the Jazz prioritized the development of players like Talon Horton Tucker, Kelly Olen, Colin Ston, Jordan Clarkson, all these players over Kee George. And yes, Keonte George has gotten better and that time he did get in the past helped him. But you know what helps a player get better? Reps and having a team show confidence and belief in you and allowing you to work through your mistakes quicker. Now, Keonte George being this good last year might not have been the best thing because Utah tried to go for the top pick and they got a top player in Ace Bailey even though they didn’t win the lottery. And it just goes to show that Utah should be looking at developing their young players like Ace Bailey and and Walter Clayton even as they make mistakes because it’s a two-fold win. One, they get development and they get better. and two, it likely leads to J the Jazz losing those close ones like they won against Boston and Phoenix and getting a better pick in the draft. No one will remember those wins against Phoenix and Boston in five seasons. No one will remember it unless it leads to the Jazz not getting a top pick, right? So, Utah has to decide what’s important. And in my opinion, having SI Mcky getting more priority than Ace Bailey is a huge mistake and does a disservice both to Ace Bailey, to the future of the Jazz, and to the fans. Guys, like the video, subscribe to the channel. I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Game day.

The Utah Jazz are screwing up the Ace Bailey situation for no clear reason.

  1. That's true. Not only Ace. Bryce, Cody and Collier as well. The Jazz are in a great position for youth development, then in the next season it will be the time to play for winning.

  2. Ace does need more playing time but Svi has completely earned the starting spot. He’s the only guard besides EJ who plays defense and he’s been pretty efficient this year. Also if you put ace in the starting lineup he’s competing for shots with Key and Lauri. Let him come off the bench but just increase those minutes

  3. Preach!!!!! Couldn't agree more, it's making my blood boil. Is Svi going to potentially carry a team to win a championship? Hell nah! But Ace could! DEVELOP HIM!

  4. I just don't want SVI to be a main part of this team. They are using him as an example or role model for the young players of how to be a professional. But I don't want him playing so much. More Brice, more Cody, more Ace!

  5. You know what destroys player development – star attitude before you are even on first team starter level. Players need to earn their minutes and work hard to develop.

  6. It doesn’t make sense but it does… they cleared the way for Ace to play but am that assumed Ace was any good.. he’s been absolute trash dog doo doo on the floor. All of the other top picks look light years better than him. If he can’t earn his way on to the floor to get minutes with this scrub squad he’s good. I don’t view it as the jazz are screwing up and Ace is not just entitled to a red carpet and golden crowns for little Eddie and terrible play.

  7. I think they are slow playing Ace because they don't want to overwhelm him with expectations before he is ready. They are going to bring him along and have him earn those minutes. Right or wrong, that is how it is going to happen and I'm ok with that.

Also, don't freak out about the losses. They Jazz are 3-5 and about to hit a very difficult stretch. The losses will be there. They aren't going to be the worst team in the NBA again, but the losses will be there.

    It will be fine.

  8. Which part of the "earn your minutes" is confusing? There are no high amount of veterans to beat. If Ace can't beat Svi does he really earn the minutes in the starting lineup?

  9. This is another podcast listening to you question the Jazz brass…why don’t you send a resume to the owner and ask him to work in their personnel development and then you can state your opinion.
Last I checked we have a top eight protected pick.
If we play Ace a lot, we may win a lot close games, and lose that top eight or better pick.
Do the Jazz play for the pick, or play to win games??? Let’s lose now, so we can win, and maybe bring a championship in 8 years to the Jazz.
I am tired of reading posts on your podcast, and locked on, questioning, and demeaning Danny, his son, and the Jazz and how they are running the team.
Danny has built two championship teams in two different decades. What has all his detractors and naysayers done??? I bet not one of them learned how to run a team by one of the best in NBA history to do it in one Red Aurbauch. So find another subject to pontificate about, or I will have to leave…

  10. Ryan Smith FUCKING sucks. The front office is a bunch of yes men. Little Ainge got the job cuz he's willing to to commit to Ryan Smith's commitment average. Top tier talent is the reward for sucking ass and getting lucky. So you suck ass multiple times(Thunder, Rockets, Pistons, Spurs) and after a stretch being laughingstock you become fun, exciting, and good. Memory of loss after loss becomes forgotten under the weight of Amen and Cade. Or you can piddlydink around fighting for play-in position(Bulls, Kings) and end up the eternal butt of the joke. Ryan Smith likes butt.

  11. I agree with you James. The Jazz could have made some decisive moves years back to draft Wemby. Instead, they kept their vets so they could win us too many games and later traded them for nothing. To make matters worse, they pick terrible prospects (Cody Williams) over clearly much better ones (Matas Buzelis) and they will then not develop their young talent, giving them DNP or shoving them in a corner. It's complete ineptitude.

  12. One point to consider… Garnet's, T-Mac's, and Koby's stats in the first few weeks of their career, were not great. I just hope to see a gradual improvement

  13. You also need to keep in mind, its a fine balance between development and giving him too much too soon. What if he gets overwhelmed and loses his confidence? He should have to earn those minutes, and more over, Svi is improving his value, which is good for the Jazz

  14. Yah I know the season just started BUT it makes me Sick to see what the coaching staff is doing with Ace….!!! Pretty much Every other 1st rounder is balling out & playing in crunch time…!!!

  15. You can't just throw kids out there and have them not only lose confidence of they struggle. U don't develop like that early on. They need to 1st learn the offense and defense and adjust to the speed of the game. I'm sure at some point they'll get more minutes. I think Taylor is simply working his way back to health. I would like to see more of cody Williams somehow.
