Ware, Jović, Wiggins, Jaquez Jr. & Powell, Spoelstra | Postgame Interviews | November 10, 2025

Spo just now called in your best game um this season. What do you feel like you did well? What was the approach and obviously entering uh you know playing against Jared and Evan? Uh you know you know just you know remembering what uh you know happened last year was uh you know just took it as motivation to you know go through the summer you know just go through this year just for you know any team just to go out there you know battle and basically you know do my job and get rebounds. that encouragement that you’re getting from your teammates like what what is that like during the game and then it’s something like at a battle back and forth like this? I mean know I feel like that’s something that they always wanted to see and now you know they’ve been want to see from me you know it’s you know it feels happy to like you said in this joy you know to see them I guess you know encouraging me on that and you know just saying that they you know proud of me for you know bringing that out. So what do you feel like just the spirit of the team right now? You guys have faced some adversity guys out. You get a win like this where you could have talked after a shot like that. What have you thought about just the spirit of your team being able to battle back and battle through things already this year? I mean, I feel like the spirit uh in the team, you know, I feel like we’re good. Uh no matter, you know, how low we go in the game, no matter how high we go in the game, I feel like we always keep our head level. Uh you know, we try to continue to, you know, just fight and if we’re up, you know, up the lead a little more. If we’re down, try to regain the lead and then up some more again. So, yeah. What was your emotions as soon as that dunk went in? I was just I was just happy you put it in there before the time went out. So, just talking about you mentioned that that playoff series from last year and and you against getting two really good bigs on the other side of the ball. Can you just kind of talk about the performance and how good does it feel that you had a performance like tonight? I mean, yeah. Uh, you know, just showing what I can do. Um, like I said, you know, that’s my job to go out there and get rebounds and, you know, to show the progression that I made over the summer. Um, you know, so just going out there and I’m I’m going to continue to do that every game. What was in your mind when you saw Donald scoring that that three? And what was in your mind when you saw Andrew Wiggins flying and doing that that daily up? The three was crazy. I’m not going to lie. Like I seen him like run like I literally chased him. I chased him cuz I I watched him run, get the board, and then like was getting ready to shoot it. So I was like, I got to try to contest it any way I can. He shot it high. We went in, came back down. Great play by CQ. Uh Nico threw the best lock and Wigs handled it. Can you take us through from when you get in the huddle and coach Quinn diagrams the play. Take us through from what they said to what you knew you had to do to what you saw as you were doing it. Yeah. Um soon as we got to the huddle, I kind of expected that that they were going to make me throw the pass. You know, I guess I’m solid at it. And uh I first I was confused because Paulo just handed the uh a board to Quinny and Quinny started uh running a play and I think everybody was just looking around. I couldn’t believe the shot that Donovan made and he was making sure that we were locked in for the play. We got in a huddle and uh I stepped on the sideline and they were they didn’t know who who was going to guard or who is first they put Mowgli on me and uh I I thought that was a good idea for them because the pass would be you know pretty hard to to throw and then soon as they changed I was like okay I got a D on me you know small guy can throw the pass over him and as soon as I saw that they put um a big fella how do I forget his name on a on Um, on Himea, I looked at Wigs and Wigs knew it was going to work. So, uh, as soon as as soon as they screamed for him, I just knew I had to throw it, uh, perfectly at the rim. So, he got, uh, just enough time to put it in. And, yeah, that’s simple as that. Were you surprised how open you thought it was going to work, were you surprised how open Andrew got? Yeah, a little bit because he was really open. He was wide open. But I think I think we ran similar play against Chicago, I think, two years ago when Gabe threw one to Jimmy. Mhm. Uh so yeah, I I I really believed in the play and you know it worked. So I think we we really deserve this win and uh you know you can see that we’re pretty happy. What do you think you guys have proved? I mean obviously it’s just one game but after what happened last season to win this one without Tyler. What do you think you guys proved tonight? I think a a lot of things are different. You know, first of all, we kind of know each other now. Uh last year I didn’t feel like we we really knew what we was doing. Uh uh after that uh we just believe in in what we do and uh when Samar made four threes in in two minutes I I feel I felt like we still believed that we was going to win that game. We knew we we deserved it and uh uh just played simple basketball. I think I think that’s it. And maybe sometimes we don’t look great but I I think day by day we we look better and better. Has anything jumped out to you about Norm’s game? I guess maybe that surprised you this season as you kind of the how good of a score he is. you know, like he he will start a game like like today miss first three shots and then you look up at the third quarter he has 20 25 26 points and how how easily he scores you know not many dribbles not forcing a lot of stuff just a pure score you know I don’t think I’ve seen a lot of scores like that you know of course we have Tyler who’s you know in my opinion the best the best score I ever played with and uh but Norm is doing tremendous job he’s playing on another spoke call this Kawar’s best game. What did you think of his performance tonight? I think he could have been a lot better. I mean, he defensively he he killed and that’s what we need him to do and they’re really on on him a lot on that, you know, and uh it’s good to see him improve, but I think he’s has so much potential offensively, you know, uh and I know he’ll he’ll be a lot better. What’s it like having I guess you you’ve kind of been through that ride with Haime too of the ups and downs. Is there a lot of leaning on each other like that with Glow? Yeah. Yeah. I think uh I think we kind of stick together a lot. It’s it’s weird. This year feels feels like uh you know, we’re just a big family. It’s not like the last year didn’t feel like that, but this year it feels like a lot of us young guys kind of know that we have just to help each other. You can see it, you know, we have uh Khalil, you know, Appella Hime playing great basketball and uh as soon as someone has a bad game, you know, we kind of uh get to him, you know, cheer him up and want him to do even better. Last one on that play, but when when you release the ball, is it like in your view going in slow motion? Like what does it look like from your perspective when you see Wiggins flying through the Beautiful, you know, just a pure art. That’s how it look. I love it. Please take us through the final play. Just uh just take from from the huddle what was said to what happened. Um man, the coaches they drew up a a great play, you know, a great play. Um and Nico gave me a, you know, amazing pass, perfect pass, and D Mitch got me open with a, you know, great great screen. Um and I was there to finish the job. I’m happy that, you know, we could get this win. It was a hard fought win. And you know, hopefully we can do the same thing, you know, when we play him in a couple days. Did you even have time to process how open you were from the lineup? I knew I was so open. I was so I was literally just focused on catching the ball, but you know, just talk about the kind of the back and forth game that it is. I mean, is this sort of again another sort of assessment of you guys? Again, there’s early success with this new offense, but now beating a team as good as Cleveland was, especially from last season. How how good does that feel for you guys? It feels good, you know. It feels really good. You know, to win in this league is is hard. Um, so every game, you know, you got to you can’t take that for granted. You know, you learn from it. You know, you just try to continue to do so. Um, and like you said, this new offense is, you know, it’s been night and day. You know, we’re out there, you know, playing with a lot of joy, playing fast, you know, everyone’s out there in great rhythm. Uh, you know, so it’s been a great start of the year. What can wins like this early on just do for you guys as a group? when you face adversity, some of your guys are out, but I gota imagine this is even for the long journey of the season, a pretty big benefit for you guys. Man, it’s it’s a confidence builder. You know, even though having some guys out, you know, we’re still able to do what we’re doing because of the the system we’re in and the guys that are all just stepping up and, you know, doing it all collectively. You know, the coaches are doing a great job getting us in position to, you know, be successful and all the guys come in with that mentality that this is going to be a hard place to win. You know, eat basketball, we have to be physical. This is going to be a hard fought game the whole game. You think about how it felt the last time the Cavs were on this floor. They were ending a sweep against you guys. Think about where you guys were at that point to where you feel like you are right now. What type of perspective does that give you on on where this team stands? Um, I mean it just shows we’re we’re a different team than last year. Um, you know, mentally, um, physically, you know, we’re a different team. Um, we have a lot of the same guys back. Norm was that was the best thing of the summer. He was definitely the best thing of the summer. You know, just coming here and, you know, you can see what he’s doing. You know, he’s a special type of talent, great leader. Um, gets everyone involved. So, you know, it’s it’s been great. Guys, c can you both uh take me through that last play, what was happening for you, what you saw, and just the dramatic of being able to do that with 4/10en of a second to go. Man, shout out to coach Quinny. That was a incredible, incredible late game call, play call from him. Um, executed extremely well. Great screen by DaVon. Norm flying off, but a distraction. Nico with a great pass. um Wigs with a great finish and I was just chilling in the corner. So I thought it was beautiful, man. It was beautiful. Yeah. I mean um I mean it was great. Hello. Hello. Uh it was great execution. Um uh Quinn drew up a hell of a play. Uh my job was to fly off and uh cause a little distraction and um as soon as I saw uh Wigs get a step um off of the Davon screen um I knew it was good. Nico’s pass was on the money and you know Wigs turned up turned back the clock a little bit and uh got that off real quick. Norm, you’ve been in the league a minute now obviously. Does what you’re seeing so far this year make any sense? They they took 120 shots tonight. They took 65 threes tonight and Damn. Yeah. I I know everyone’s scoring more now and obviously the the pace that you guys are playing with has been a storyline since opening night, but how crazy is it to see what this game has evolved to? Yeah, I mean the evolution of the game has been I mean insane. I mean especially uh from when I came in in 2015 um and just uh how it how it’s evolved um to an analytical game. You know, teams don’t want to shoot mid-range jumpers and they’re looking at layups to free throws and corner threes was a point. Now it’s getting up as many threes as you can. I think uh uh in Houston with James and um what they did, you know, kind of set the bar and then Steph coming in and shooting all these threes, making all these threes um and the pace, you know, um I think uh the Kings started it um with Mike Mike Brown um how fast they were playing the Indiana um OKC um and now now us, you know, and I think uh uh it makes the game more exciting. Obviously, the rule changes and things like that um give more freedom of movement for the offensive player um which allows, you know, more free throws, you know, uptempo game, more shots going up. But it’s definitely crazy to see how the games evolving. I’m just interested to see how it continues to evolve and grow, but um for us, it plays perfectly into our hands and the style of play that we have. I mean, this team struggled at times last year to put up points in clutch situations specifically with this new system. What is different in those late late game moments, especially in terms of empowering you and giving you confidence to make your move? We got a lot of space out there. Um, that’s really what it is. Uh, when guys like myself, DaVon get into the paint, we are just surrounded by shooters. So, um, you know, really opens up a lot of driving lanes for us to get in there and make plays. And, you know, when you guys shoot open shots, they’re good. They’re going to make them. So, um, you know, really just credit to this offense that allows us for so much space and and so many driving lanes. Um, and then it’s just on us to make the right play. I can you just kind of talk about how steadying of a presence that Norm is possibly when he has a game like this and a thrilling game going back and forth to have a veteran presence like Norm, you know, how is that in the huddle? I mean, it’s great. Uh, it’s great. I mean, he’s been very vocal from the jump. Um, you know, came in here as the oldest guy on this team and, you know, he’s made that known. You know, he’s got a lot of years, got a lot of experience, and he’s not hesitant to share that with with all of us. And, you know, just as a player, I’ve always been a fan of Norman’s game. Going back to Toronto, I’ve always called him a professional scorer and when you got a guy like that on your team, it makes it makes life easy for everybody. I suppose talk about the the trust in you to go to you at the end of regulation for that shot was come from the passing improvements that if you were doubled, you’re able to kind of make that read. Just just how have you seen that I guess progress to maybe feel out the doubles and be able to kind of make that that playmaking jump? Um, you know, just trying to make the right read. I watched a lot of film this past summer um to figure out what I was doing right, what I was doing wrong, how how I can improve. Um it’s really great with this offense. I got a lot of guys moving, so there’s a lot of targets for me to hit. So when you add that all together, it ends up making the reads a lot easier for me to make. [Music] Coach um entrust and me um to go out there and and really just make a play. So appreciate him, man. Nice. All right, Timmy, what do you got? First question, what’s in the cup? None of my business. Yeah, I said that before. I think so. You’ve used that once or twice. Whatever it is, it’s earned. Um the the last play, did you expect the seas to park quite that wide? Um look, I’ve had that play on my uh card listed as CQ for four years. Um so when it got to that point, um Quinny said, “Hey, we should run that.” Uh and I said, “You know what? there’s no better person than to diagram it than the one who came up with the dang thing. Um, so I just had him diagram the play. Um, then it just it worked beautifully. Uh, I thought Norm sold it really well. Uh, and then, um, you know, Wigs made a great cut on it and then Nico just put it right on the lip of the rim. Like couldn’t made a better pass. if if it would have been anywhere else, it it would have been, you know, 6, you know, or something like that. So, it was uh great execution to get that. It was a classic game. Um it was a lot of fun to be a part of. It’s better when you get the win. Um you know, and it was just, you know, play after play. Like both teams, you know, it uh I felt like we were making a ton of plays, but they they were scoring, making plays or getting offensive rebounds and, you know, knocking down big shots. Um but uh showed some grit, you know, and we were up double digits, nine points, and then they came storming back and we still found a way to to get the W. It’s the second week in November. It’s one of 82 obviously, but what big picture, what can this one mean to do it without Bam, without Tyler, with a big lead, then it goes away and Donovan Mitchell happens and all those things. What what what sort of building block can this Yeah, I’m not sure. you know, I’m just embracing the unknown. You know, embracing, you know, the the confidence guys are gaining uh in, you know, what we’re doing. It always, you know, helps when you get some some W’s out of it. Uh but guys, you know, understand our identity, you know, to defend and that now can create some things for us, you know, offensively. Um and guys are growing, you know, right before our eyes. Kell played his best game, you know, uh, impactful plays at key moments. That’s the best game he’s played in a Miami Heat uniform. I don’t care what the stats are. I know he had 20 rebounds, but those efforts on the glass uh were incredible. Um, and he was reliable defensively. He was with it. He was uh in the right spots. You know, Moy made a couple great shots, but Kell was there. You know, he was there doing the right thing. Even the three, you know, he made an effort to close out. He made an effort to close out on Donovan Mitchell’s three. Those are all winning plays. Um, you know, so, you know, your young guys, you know, can improve. It’s It’s not always going to be linear. Um, Nico last game was tremendous. You know, Kell tonight, you know, but they’re making steps and, you know, so many guys had uh, you know, their their fingerprints on this game. That’s what you have to do when you’re playing against a really good team. That’s a quality team. You know, they they know what they’re doing. they know what their their game is. Um, you have to you have to rise to that level of competition. What was the range of emotions like to do just about everything you could have or needed to do before Mitchell hit that three and then for a team to hold it together, settle in a huddle, and then go back. You talk about that point4 seconds. Yeah. Uh, you know, I we have a group that’s super competitive and building some grit and some mental stability. I felt we would have been in very good shape if that got pushed to the second overtime. I I I think our guys would have wrapped their mind around that. Five more minutes of of great competition. I think that would have brought out a a great level, you know, out of our team, but certainly it was much better to get that that lob. It it was an instant classic regular season game, you know, for for early November. Another obviously big night for Norm. How much has he come to meant just as a studying presence? Yeah. With Bam and Tyler, Matt, no question about it. He is such a um just a um a proven versatile, potent scoreer. Now, he can do it in so many different ways. Uh I love the versatility of his of his offensive talent. you know, he can he can play off the ball, he can play on the ball, he can play pick and roll ball, he can play driving, catch go game, u can play off others. He’s developed this um you know, toolkit, you know, over the course of his career because he had he’s had to play a lot of different roles. Um but he’s clever, too. You know, he knows how to use players aggression against them. Um, you know, he he he’s just it’s uh we’re super grateful to have him. You know, Haime is really growing, too. You know, he’s uh he’s so poised now with with an aggressiveness. Um, you know, and like I said, he’s making just enough plays, you know, to keep the defense honest, but every, you know, every possession he’s going to make, you have to to be locked in, you know, defensively, you know, to keep him from his spots. Coach, you spoke a little bit about Kell there. I mean, kind of looking back at what he did in that playoff series against the Cavs to what he did now. From a coach’s perspective, just can you kind of talk about the progress he has made, especially even facing a team with two big, you know, it’s not linear, right? It’s not because, you know, we had that um he had a a really good summer of development. Um, you know, started out summer league kind of slow. Um, then finished with two uh really strong games. his his last game um you know was the most um impactful game that led to a win uh against Boston um and then it was kind of uneven you know in the preseason at the start of the season but but he’s been diligent you know he shows up every day you know with a a mindset to get better uh he and Malik have a beautiful you know working relationship they spend so much time together and um you know when you’re dealing with young players, you know, you just have to, you know, embrace that unknown, you know, embrace the possibilities, uh, and understand, you know, that it’s not always just going to be a rocket ship straightforward. So, we want to be patient, but you also want to be impatient, uh, you know, through the process. So, it’s a it’s a it’s a fine balance. I know there’s moving parts, but, you know, over the years, we’ve asked a lot about clutch offense, late game offense. Sometimes it’s stagnated or stalled with this new system. And you’ve talked about simplifying reads, making this sure the spacing is right. Is this system simplifying those late game situations on offense for these guys? Yeah, I don’t know about, you know, the system. It’s just kind of like allowing players, you know, the freedom to be aggressive. Um, and then, you know, where they know where the spacing can be if they if they get stopped. Um, but you know, we want to feed as much confidence uh into these guys. um you know, so they can continue to grow, continue to um you know, expand their games. Um but they’re sharing the ball great, too. You know, there’s u that’s just a quality this locker room has, which which always makes things look a lot better, no matter what whatever the system may be. You mentioned Jaime before, some of those tough mid-range fadeaways just down the stretch. Was the play call for him at the end of regulation to let him go and just what does that show? So, I guess the trust level that kind of let him go downhill and kind of get a buck at that point in the game. Um, yeah, I felt like he was going to create, you know, something, some kind of action, but the trust level really is more about the times if he does get stuck, everybody’s gaining more trust that he’s okay, you you cut me off. There’s a help defender. I know where my spacing is. I’ll make I’ll make the right play and the might right read from there. and he’s he’s grown tremendously, you know, with that. Um, and he doesn’t need to get 20 assists, you know, but if he can get, you know, four, five, six, seven assists, uh, that’s only going to help him, you know, with his attacks. And, you know, he puts pressure on the rim, but then you get to that point in the game, you you might not be able to get to the rim. You might not be able to make a play and and, you know, that that’s the right play then to, you know, go to the the mid game. Last question. I I don’t know how often somebody like DaVon Mitchell, five fouls and five turnovers, but is a plus 12 somehow. I mean, how do you sum up? Well, you sum them up by that one loose ball, that jump ball, you know, there was a a scrum offensive rebound, you know, and before I could blink, he was stretched out and and had that loose ball. That that that’s what defines him. He he he’s a great competitor. Uh, you know, he had five fouls. I wanted to switch the match up. He said, “No way.” Um, you know, he wanted to take Donovan Mitchell is as clever as anyone to be able to, you know, draw a foul. We finally convinced him that, you know, Wigs should take him on the last two side out of bounds. But, um, yeah, he he does so many little things defensively, just setting the tone for your defense on the ball, but he’s great now. He’s or he’s getting really good off the ball. He’s he’s super or not super like what we say is slightly reckless. Um but offensively he just wants to he wants to set guys up and um I guess that is contagious when your point guard is just trying to get people the ball and and trying to get them you know easy baskets. Thank you.

  1. Can't lie, after that pre-season i didn't see this coming at all. If Tyler and Bam can come back and fit in this new offense, this team could be extremely dangerous

  2. They got screened by Davion Mitchell for a game winner buzzer beater inbound ally-oop . SUPER diabolical 😂 I know they gotta be hearing an earful from their coaching staff 😂😂😂

  3. Guys Herro is literally one of our best closers if not the closer. We need him and now he isn't forced to play like he did last year he'll be way more comfortable this season coming off ball. We are actually a powerhouse, getting outrebounded but not out hustled nobody got more HEART than this Heat team!!

  4. Spo is most likely gonna stagger Tyler and Norms minute's its gonna work out guys i cannot wait for our guys to come back! Herro never had this high up tempo offense to flow into this is his game.

  5. The difference in chemistry, grit, and more truly is night and day. We watched this team collapse in the second half of regular season games night after night for the last two seasons. They have not cut their switch off this season

  6. Wiggs may look more on the slim side but when you really look he’s just lean af he’s deff strong as an ox have yall seen the way he post ppl up or bang in the post 🤔✅

  7. No Jimmy Butler and we are a ton, a full bucket better now. Kudos to every Heat who played tonight. But I have been bragging on Kelel while a lot of fans were down on the youngster. Think of this about Ware's rebounding tonight. Ware 7 offensive rebounds and 13 defensive rebounds. The other 4 heat started secured only 11 rebounds Kelel the career high 20 boards. Another great comparison is to both Mobley and Allen combined for 17 rebounds; again Ware outrebounded their total by 3 rbs. 7 footers combined to play 56 minutes and Ware 33+ minutes; great game Ware. 14 pts with no turnovers

  8. Things are great and I can only hope this team will be much better when Tyler and Bam come back. Love this team and to see the growth of our young dawgs especially after last season. Young dawgs are only going to get better, loved Jimmy when he was here but glad he’s gone if it meant this team would gel like this. Keep sleeping on the Heat!

  9. Kel’el with 14/20 on Jarrett Allen / Evan Mobley is exactly what we need from him, glad to see him smiling and happy i know its been not a rough time, but an adjustment period and these games are, as Spo said the non linear progression of our young guys. KEEP IT UP KEL’EL N REMEMBER SPO KNOWS 🔥🔥🔥
