Why would Arizona Diamondbacks consider trading Ketel Marte?

When I think of Catel Marte and the talent of Catel Marte, why would the Arizona Diamondbacks even consider trading him? I think just to see what you can get. I mean, I, you know, let’s face it, when you miss time off like he did after the All-Star break, you irritates everybody in the clubhouse. Uh, you should not have to have a coaching staff beg a guy to play down the stretch. Uh, in 2024 when they blew that lead against the Brewers last week of the season, didn’t race. You can’t take a day off. Uh, you know, hey, you saw what, you know, Yomamoto did for the Dodgers. Just pitch, you know, six innings and he volunteers. Hey, I’ll pitch the next night. You know, you got to have guys that, you know, that that want to play every single day. Uh, you know, there’s guys, uh, like, you know, I mean, Freddy Freeman got hurt and he was playing on her 62 games, you know, year after year. So is Marcus Semian for a while. Matt Olsen’s got that streak. So, I think it just if you’re a veteran player and you’re taking time off, it sets a bad example for the younger guys. We’re talking to Bob Nightingale. Bob, if if it got to the point where they actually did move him, what what is a a reasonable return for the Diamondbacks to be looking for, do you think? Well, you got to get some young, you know, some young arms that you that are are proven. I’m just throwing a name out, you know, like a Hunter Green has got a very favorable contract. uh you still got you know four more years of control with him. You know that sort of thing. You need a guy you can control for four or five years and you got to be right on. You got to be say you know what this guy’s going to be a stud pitcher you know let let’s go with him. Uh because they don’t you know right now they don’t have that pitching to survive in the National League West you know to be a contender next year. not with all the guys in the injury list. So realistic, you’re probably look at 2027.
