With today’s update from Cole Bagley in KSL mentioning 10 new ice rinks being in the early stages of getting built, does anyone know where some of them might be planned? I’m really hoping one ends up in Davis County.

St George I hope. We need one badly.
I grew up in Layton. I played Hockey at the ice sheet in Ogden. I was there probably 3-4 days a week for years as a kid.
We really need another one in Davis county. They could even just add an extra sheet to the rec center
Last year, Ryan Smith’s stated goal was 20 new rinks in Utah the next 5ish years, with SEG contributing up to $500k per rink. And that’s to bring hockey to the whole state, not just the more populous counties. This is very much in line with that.
Edit to add: I’m pretty sure Davis county was high on that list of places to build rinks.
I’d really like to see some seasonal ODRs. You’d still need a coolant system, but for the cost of just one arena we could build a lot of these.
I’d like to see a mix of reserved time & open/stick & puck use. How fun would an outdoor beer league be!?! This could make HS/Club ice time cheaper & more abundant.
I’m picturing on the North sides of tall buildings, baseball/softball outfields (already have lights), back corners of parking lots at dead malls…etc.
