[Fowler] Asante Samuel Jr Signing With The Steelers Practice Squad

  1. Color me shocked honestly, but I’m sure he figured it’s a good situation here with the state of our CB room.

  2. With all the interest I’m surprised we got him on the practice squad. He’s alr probably better than slay or Echols

  3. If the offensive play we had Sunday night continues, wouldn’t matter if we signed prime Woodson and prime Sanders, but hopefully he makes a full recovery and can push Slay out of the rotation.

  4. Hoping this is because he wants to be here and we like him and not because we are the only ones willing to gamble on his injury

  5. Hell yeah. Would love to keep him around long term but most realistically should be a nice comp pick for us (assuming he’s still good)

  6. I mean damn that’s a really good grab. Practice squad to learn the defense and then hopefully playing time in a couple weeks.

  7. Some good news finally… well I hope it is good news at least. Loved him during draft process, hopefully hes healthy enough to play. Would do wonders for our slot issues and cb depth

  8. I don’t actually know if he’s any good or not, especially not after that surgery, but there seems like very little to lose in this.

  9. With how all the other attempts to get players have gone, its nice that something goes the way of the Steelers for once.

  10. I feel like returning to pro football from spinal fusion surgery is more of a question mark than this thread is making it out to be.

  11. Book it boys, he’ll have a solid rest of the season and then go sign a 3-year contract with a different team.

  12. The team signing someone under 30 is honestly surprising. It’s even a potential longterm solution.

  13. Any doubters out there CANNOT DENY he is at the very LEAST, the 2nd best Asante Samuel in the HISTORY of sports.

  14. Chargers fan here. Before his neck injury, he is a fantastic zone coverage ball hawk who can’t tackle to save his life. I hope he works well for y’all.
