[McMenamin] Austin Reaves on his future: “I want to be in LA. I love it” Reaves told ESPN. “Even though the other extension was turned down, that doesn’t mean that I’m trying to go get a f—ing gigantic number that don’t make sense. I want to do everything that can help this organization be better”

Lol anything less than the 25% of cap max below $40m would be fine.
Even 25% of cap is not the end of the world.
I imagine they’re going to agree to a specific number with the idea that we’ll sign Austin last so that we can sign everybody else with his cap hold. Austin will get signed with minor adjustments so we’ll be right under the first apron probably.
He stay…for $30 million a year.
Austin taking a 35 mil a year contract would the steal of the century for us. Would allow us to get another star in the building once contracts clear after Bron leaves.

Austin’s agent hearing him ruin his negotiation tactics
I must say, i respect what he said here. I am not always the most vocal in the sense it seems i dont love him but if he continues this path – i am all up for his big numbers here 🙂

This guys gonna be a laker for life, i love it!!

I’ve always liked that Austin Reaves kid
Not many people in the NBA with his mindset. Doesn’t even care about being an AllStar either. Bro just wants to win.

Anything other than a max I’m fine with.
He’s worth every penny.
I’m proud that Austin is part of the team. I hope we will be able to keep him. Luka has his better years with Brunson and Kyrie on his team.
20% of the cap for Reaves is a no brainer. If he sweetens the deal all the better.
Even more valuable is Reaves low cap hold and willingness to work with the Lakers to maximize our cap space before signing his new deal.
I’m more curious where guys like Rui and Ayton fit into all this assuming/hoping they continue to ball out after LeBron’s return.
If AR is not a Laker by the end of the offseason, then something will have gone seriously wrong. I’m pretty sure his team and the Lakers already have an agreed-to range (in a handshake sense).
AR deserves to get paid.
AR and Luka are the future. They will be the best back court in basketball by the end of the year
vibes – IMMACULATE

He wants to be a Laker for life and is willing to take less money to help the team
Laker for life. We love you Austin
PLANT SOME TREES KING
I know Reaves agent hated that “Gigantic Number”line lol
LeBron also needs to follow suit and take a paycut if truly wants to maxamize his final couple years. KD set an example taking a paycut realizing he still a top 10 player but the team future is in Amen/Sengun. Reaves right now setting an example also if he doesn’t max his money out. Luka/Reaves is the future LeBron still a top 10 player but not the future of the team.
And yet there are many here that want him traded
He’s going to be the biggest free agent there is next season, and he’s basically stating he’s not looking or a max. He plays well with Luka. This is what you want for your team.
“Bro I’m getting so much off court money living in LA and my spot is set. Aspiration, Lemon Daddy, Uninterrupted Documentary…. Lakers in 5” 🌲
Pay the man.
Laker 4 life
Be our Jalen Brunson

Someone get him a second “job”!
The vibes are fucking golden rn
Bron coming back on a minimum
We love you Austin. We don’t deserve HIM

Throw him the max, I’m sold.
Talk about the most beloved Laker, if he turns down $40+ million from other teams to stay here for $30-35, Lakers will absolutely love him. That difference might be another player that is the difference between deep run and championship
We got a real one
How TF did we get so lucky, man. AR is a class act, Luka is (in my opinion) the next GOAT and they both get to learn from LeBron. What a fucking time, man..
I really hope new owners don’t let him walk to cut costs. We have a real gem in him. Lifelong laker and kobe fan and it shows
That boy is mature. You can tell he’s got really good self and situational awareness
I think we have to remember that there has been an unbelievable amount of trust in both parties. Austin never thought he’d be in this position and the lakers gave him every opportunity to be great. Resisted every trade package that came their way for him and kept him off the trade block year after year because they believed in him..
Awful for contract negotiations but this relationship (for better or for worse) seems to transcend just business for now.
Let’s hope lakers don’t shoot themselves in the foot trying to lowball him.
