We’re Gonna See Joe Burrow’s Bengals Return on Thanksgiving, Right??? | The Rich Eisen Show

So, um, last we checked in on the Cincinnati Bengals. A guy named Joe was quarterbacking. His name was Flaco. And, uh, they lost to the New York Jets, giving the Jets their first win of the season. And when I say giving, that was part of it. Jets earned it, but the Bengals gave it away. And, um, they go off on their buy and they’re coming out of their buy at three and six. And the bottom line is this. They can’t play defense straight offense. Nor does sometimes they have the ability to protect any quarterback named Joe or Jake. And the under the construct of the way things are working. If you can’t play defense and it doesn’t matter how many points your quarterback named Joe puts up and if you have trouble protecting that guy named Joe and there’s one guy named Joe who’s over, you know, 40-year-old who might just be a one and done with your team most likely or you got a Joe who you are paying a gajillion dollars to to the point where if you’re the owner of the uh Bengals, you take your dad’s name off the stadium and you put payors on it because you got to pay Joe. Why do you bring him back? Why? Because it’s the National Football League and you want to win football games. Number one. Number two, to quote the great Jim Morris senior, the season is not over. As he once upon a time famously said about a Saint season about nine years ago, and we got very upset when people are like, why keep playing when you’re one and four? Cuz the season is not over. Season is not over. I understand as well there’s another Jim Mora line about making the playoffs that would maybe be appropriate for this as well, but you don’t have to find that, Mike. Playoffs. Oh, you found it. Wow. And you’re coming off of your buy and you’re visiting Pittsburgh, PA where the Steelers right now are reeling after this is again why I’m like Matt Laflur hot seat. All right, just wait a week. Cuz two games ago, the Steelers were the what’s the the phrase that Bruce Dickinson once said on Saturday Night Live? of the walk. Okay. of the walk, baby. You know what I mean? The Bruce Dickinson. The Bruce Dickinson puts his pant legs on pants on one leg at a time. Except when he does it, he may go play the records. Got to have more cowbell, baby. I don’t even know what that means. So, got a fever. Just wait a minute and it’ll change because the Steelers are now down in the dumps. And if Flaco wins this game, they’re four and six and things are looking up. Especially because guess who had his 21-day window for being able to practice and being able to be activated, opened up yesterday. That would be one Joe Burrow who took to the podium. This is how I know he’s coming back, guys. I mean, number one, they open his practice window now. Number two, because Glazer says it’s going to happen. And number three, yeah, they made him available to speak to the media and he 1,000% came across as a guy who doesn’t like what’s been happening, 1 million% wants to fix it, and is 1 billion% coming back for Thanksgiving. which is nuts. That is nuts because everybody was looking at week 14, not week 13. And he’s coming back to go to Baltimore and stop the Ravens from taking this division as everybody’s expecting to happen. He’s coming back to make sure none of that happens and the Bengals are going to make the playoffs. This is exactly what I got when I watched him at the podium. Yeah, we’ll see how these next couple weeks go. Um, you know, there’s a lot that goes into it. Like you said, there’s a lot of variables that you have to consider and um, we’re just going to see how these next couple weeks go, see how it feels. Let’s say the team does do well. Is there a timeline of when you feel like the soonest you would be available? We have 21 days to to figure that out. Um, could be early, could be late in that window. Uh, there’s, you know, we’re still we’re still pretty early postsurgery for this injury. So, we have a couple weeks of practice to to figure that out and see where it goes. He’s coming back. Oh, he’s playing. There’s at one point in the press conference where he was saying, um, what about Thanksgiving? And he paused and he goes, we’ll see. [Laughter] We’ll see. I have missed Joe Burrow this football season. Me, too. So have the Bengals. So have Cincinnati. So is all of us. So has anybody obviously had him in in their uh in their fantasy league. You better send those refunds. One of the greatest. He’s one I I mean Thanksgiving night Bengals at Ravens. And if the Bengals can beat the Pittsburgh Steelers and sweep them, that would be beyond massive. And then after that, home for New England. two big games that are absolutely difficult for them to win and then that and then here comes uh uh uh Thanksgiving and if he comes back for Thanksgiving and then it’s at Buffalo and home for Baltimore. Even if they split these games and they’re four- seven going into that. Borrow playing these games in those last three at Miami, home for Arizona, home for Cleveland kind of looks good, but playoffs, I don’t know. That’s where you’re kind of like Jim Mo there. But the season is not over. That was my sense of Joe Burrow. Good luck. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. 1. It would be insane to play Burrow. Irrespective of what he wants. If he wants to toss a few in practice, fine. But if Flacco's ok he should play, and he's been objectively fantastic, and deserves to keep playing provided he's uninjured and on a hot streak.

  2. Joe Flacco over the last two games: 52/81 693 yds, 6 TD 2 INT. They lost both games while averaging 40 pts/gm. I don't think Burrow coming back is gonna fix the problem Rich.

  3. It makes no sense to bring him back when you are not losing because of quarterback play. I doubt he's going to play any better than Flacco is right now. Unless Flacco's play takes a huge crap between now and then they should just ride Flacco out and not risk Burrow for next season. The defense is historically awful, it's just not worth it.

  4. The Bengals do NOT need Burrow this season as the QB play is NOT THE PROBLEM!!! Unless he can play on the Oline or in ANY defensive capacity he should just rest up and get healthy for the 2026 season. (Where he will likely get hurt again) Better keep Flacco around for security

  5. Ok… Joey Burrow returns Ja'Marr/Tee/Iosivas get a TD a piece. Joey B throws for 4 TDs and rushes for 1 TD while Chase Brown also scores. Special teams (Charlie Jones) returns a kick or punt for a TD. Mcshooter nails 3 Fgs over 50 yards each…

The "defense" allows 60 POINTS… nothing has changed.

  6. The AFC North has never looked like this so up and down this year. Joe Burrow said in the press conference that he does not want to be the Wild Card going into the playoffs he says you need to win the division because he is probably looking at it hey the Bengals are 2 and 0 in the AFC North at the moment with a possibility of being 3 and 0 after Sunday if they sweep Shitburg so anything is possible past history shows the Bengals get hot 🔥 going later in the season

  7. It's funny being in Cincinnati literally nobody is excited about Joe burrow coming back and every single person- and I mean every single person- made the joke "is he playing defense?" No exceptions lol

  8. on the positive note bengal's defense had a bye week…. lets see if they figured out how to tackle , bengals defense seems to do better in the second half of the season even when they are bad

  9. What if Flacco throws for 400+ yards, 4 -5 TDs, 1 int and we win the next two games? Do we take the ball out of his hands and give it to Burrow who seems to always take a game or two to turn it up?
