Washington Wizards are a bit better and perhaps better coached than what most people outside Washington think! – Quick offense analysis breakdown

  1. the vets have helped navigate this franchise as they develop some younr pieces in sarr, kyshawn and tre but i really like how they are trying to use point action and their young players are seemingly COACHABLE and understanding the mvmt and spacing needed in these type of actions, for those that dont watch WSH i think they are brewing something here and their coaching isn’t as bad as I thought last year (same staff mostly i think)

  2. When Keefe got promoted to the head job in Bilal’s rookie year, the Athletic had a long article about the front office’s coaching philosophy, including the idea of giving each player goals during each chunk of the season that didn’t necessarily show up in the box score, but would teach players concepts they would need to be a better pro. I would imagine that process continues into the second year, maybe even the third. So when a player gets hot for a few weeks and then seems to regress, it’s important to realize they may be working on concepts that don’t necessarily lead to more points on the board during that chunk of the season.

Is that a good strategy? It certainly doesn’t seem to offer the fans transparency. But players don’t come into the League with four years of college under their belt anymore; their first pro contract IS, for all intents and purposes, their college career. If giving players free range to play their game the way they want is letting them cook, then allowing kids who would have been in school in previous generations to learn their craft can certainly earn the benefit of the doubt, so let them simmer.

  3. I can’t imagine how bad this team is if a 1-10 team is better coached than people think.

  4. Liked this a lot. Your enthusiasm is great. I also loved the part where you were like it’s either Tre Johnson or Bub Carrington, lol. That’s about how people outside of this fanbase look at our players. ‘It’s one of em’, lol

We sorely miss this type of analysis, since the guy that used to do it wigged out and went to Mexico or something and hasn’t been heard from since. He has some kind of scouting company he’s trying to get off the ground (Scoutology). But anyway, love this type of stuff. It’s great for the fanbase to see and learn and understand. This is the kind of thing a lot of pickup guys like me never encounter, though we’ve been playing for years. Basic stuff like pick & rolls is universal, but these actions are nice to watch.
