Nic Dowd Runs Into Frederik Andersen

Once again here he’s getting assignments late in penalty kills. He drew a penalty doing that in the third period against the Maple Leafs. Just almost tied the game. Now Matt Roy will steer this one. Anderson goes to knock it down and then Anderson is run into by Dow and Walker has a few words and Anderson not happy. He goes after Dow and now he’s going after Dane. That’s encouraging because it shows that Freddy Anderson’s okay. And now Jackson Blake and Farravari. Look at these two. And Stanovven will take Farravari. Stankov dropping the mix with Martin Farravari. Down the ice they go. They still come back up. A couple of rights from Stankovvin. And another one. And he connects. Now they go down to the ice and the linesman will get in there. And Anderson’s being prevented just inside his own blue line from engaging with Dow who’s now in the box. Stan Kovit’s cut. Logan Thompson was almost at the red line. The reason that Anderson did not like the hit in my opinion. He was going to play the puck and you have to protect the goal. Doubt would say, “Well, he’s, you know, I’m trying to prevent him from playing the puck.” You cannot play a goalender like you play a defenseman physically. He’s got to try to avoid it. It’s It’s different. Bottom line is different for a goalender than it is a skater. Way to go, Logan. Stan Kovven. Verari was hurt. Big loss for Washington. Didn’t play in that playoff series. And if you ask the question, was there going to be any carryover from what is now a rivalry? Carolina winning at five. I think you’ve gotten your answer. But for me, that was the issue with the initial Dow collision is that you can’t treat a goalender if you’re dowed like you would a defenseman playing the puck below the goal line and he’s in the trapezoid. You just have to make any every effort to avoid him. If that’s a defenseman, no problem. Goalender, you just can’t do it the way that goalenders need to be protected. Tonight’s officials, Graham Skilader and Brandon Schrader, sorting out not just the dowed hit on Anderson, but the extracurriculars after with 5 minutes left here in the first period. Carolina trailing one- nothing with Freddy’s injury history. Good news that he seems aok. Okay. Penalties on the play. Washington 26, minor penalty goalender interference. Washington 42, minor penalty roughing. Washington 42, 5 minutes for fighting. Carolina 22, 5 minutes for fighting. Carolina 31, minor penalty roughing. So, the Hurricanes will get a power play out of all of that and we’ll bring it to you. Can the Canes get the equalizer here late in the first?

  1. Listen to these Homer announcers. First Anderson flopped on a play he was indecisive on. Then Stankovin getting hammered and they are announcing it as if he was the one landing the big blows. What fools!

  2. If I saw a capital hockey hit a Carolina hurricanes players will get what is coming to the capital hockey team if they are in public for what the capital player did to the Carolina hurricanes goalie. The capital wouldn't like it if their player was hurt or down on the ice pussy ass capital hockey team

  3. The game has gotten so fast I think coaching for goaltenders needs to change. They gotta stay in the crease more, or more of this will happen and there are just going to be more "Tend the goal!" memes if they don't.
