Subscribe if you are new. And as always, let’s get into this one. [Music] [Applause] [Music] You have got to be kidding me. Heat. Heat. [Applause] Beautiful day to be a dolphin. Let’s go. [Music] You’re listening to Finn too deep who are back to throw and get to it. Oh, he takes off running and he’s in. Touchdown Miami with the six pick in the 2021 NFL draft. The Miami Dolphins select Jaylen Wadd giving you unfiltered, informed, and controversial takes on the Miami Dolphins and the NFL draft. Here’s Reason and Neil. [Music] What is good Finn Nation? What’s good? It’s your boy Reasonz, and we are back here for another one as we dive in too deep. I don’t even think I told you this, Neil. Like two or three weeks ago when we did a show, I got a copyright claim on our intro there because of the Van the Van Halen sample. Like the first time I’ve ever had that. And how long have we used that Van Halen sample for? Like, yeah. Wow. Years they’re paying attention to us, huh? Oh, man. I’m telling you, dude. One day I’ll get into it deep for everyone. But for the last two, two two and a half years, I’ve been battling with YouTube behind the scenes because they basically over audit my channel. They constantly delete subscribers from me. And um you know, there’s things with the algorithm that tend to lead people I talk I like tend to lead people I talk to that something’s funky has been going on for a while. Um because like my click-through rate and my watch time should be producing like much much much much higher higher viewership in terms of the algorithm. Uh you know so one day I’ll get into that deep because it’s been a battle for the last two and a half years that I really haven’t talked about publicly. But yeah they over audit. So when I got the Van Halen when I got the Cobra I’m like this is for real right now right now cuz like wow I I got it when after I just like finished talking to them. So, like I know they had went and audited, but man, enough about that. Hey, man. Dolphins, you know, they that’s so Dolphins, hey, two and seven, nothing to lose. And they go out and they beat the ever loving crap out of the Buffalo Bills. And listen, I said this, Neil, if we were going to win one game the rest of the year, let it have been that game. And it sure was. Um, how you feeling, man? Because even for three and we are the most we are the the fan base with the most pep in their step ever for a team that’s three and seven. Because Neil, not only was that only the what second time we’ve beat them in the last 16 meetings, Neil, the other thing here too that people need to realize is that’s the first time since 2018 they’ve lost by more than seven points to a division. That’s crazy, man. did that to them, bro. You know, that was what the first time since 2007 we’ve kept them to a scoreless first half. I I mean, dude, what an absolute and like pleasure to watch a thorough belt to ass from opening whistle to end of the game ass whipping. And you know, it was funny because not they they beat the Bills. I thought the referees were very anti Miami in some of the calls in this game. And you know, I I mean, if we if we can’t label him one yet, he’s on the verge. Uh there’s not five running backs in football right now that are better than him. And that’s with all due respect to Christian McCaffrey, Barkley, Henry. We know the names. Devon Ain is a superstar, man. He is awesome. And you get to see shades of Jaylen Wadd being that demon that, you know, we know he can be if given the opportunity, right? Um, Jordan Brooks looks like he might be playing at an allp pro level at linebacker, right? Like I mean, he is everywhere that needs to be seen, but if I had to give a game ball to anybody here, I’d actually give the game ball to Mike McDaniel because he out coached Shawn McDermott probably for the first time in his tenure here in Miami. Plus, he probably had the greatest troll job that I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Fantastic. Absolutely. absolutely like awesome. And you know, it’s one of those things, man, like I don’t I’m not gonna take beating the Bills and Josh Allen for granted. Um, you know, I I understand the ramifications that it has on draft slot. There’s still eight games to go, man. I’m not worrying about draft slots. That’s that, you know, I I don’t I don’t want to spend my entire football season praying for my team to lose because I know it’s not going to work out that way. But I did see this whole kind of timeline in unison here, man. Where even the people that wanted us to have the first pick in the draft. I didn’t see anybody that was upset about this win. You did? Yeah. There were people on X that were still compl still complaining that, hey, this hurts your draft position, blah blah blah blah blah. I saw it on X more than I I don’t know if I really saw it on YouTube, to be honest with you. haven’t been paying attention to other content creators on YouTube recently, so I I I I don’t know if I really saw anything like that, but on X, I did see it. There’s always going to be those people, and I’m with you, man. Like, listen, there’s so much football left to be played. Like you said, man, I I tell this story all the time. I told it just yesterday, or the day before. I we all sat through that one and 15 season. I was working every second Sunday. I was de watching I was staying away from radios and scores and watching replays of that season and I had to sit through that pain. I’m not trying to sit through one and 15 like yeah do we want the best pick as possible 110%. But it it sucks. And that’s why I said, Neil, if we’re going to go on a run right now, please, Neil, because I said yesterday, Neil, there is legitimate history here, right? They started 1-7 under last year’s last year, Flores, finished 9-8. If they would have won that Tennessee game, they would have actually went nine and 0. But the problem was they went eight- one, right? I mean, last year, Neil started off what, two- six and then we finished six and three. So, this team has a and there’s still players on the roster from 2021. This team has a history of slow starts and then coming up big on the back end. If you’re going to do it this time and you’re going to play yourself out of a top 10 pick, Neil, please, for the love of God, just finish the job. And I’ll tell you this much, Neil. If this team uses this win to propel them into some kind of miraculous playoff appearance, look out because that team will believe in themselves, brother. And that’s a scary thought. It it it it just goes to show you those games early in the season when you’re trying to figure it out. And it’s the Patriots and Panthers that jump out for me. Both of those games should have been wins. And defense, Neil, if we would got the defense we had this week, Neil, or even the defense, remember the first half against the Ravens, that defense was fantastic. If we got that defense for the first eight weeks of the season, Neil, I’m going to People can shoot me, shoots at me. They can do whatever they want. We would have You wouldn’t have needed Tua game-winning drives against some of these teams. We would have beat the Patriots. I think we would have beat the Bills. Yes, I think we would have swept the Bills. The Chargers. How about we would have beat the Chargers and I think we would have finished off the Panthers. We wouldn’t have blown that 17-point lead, right? But but I do know you said it, Neil. We’d be seven and three or or we would be what, seven-2 or six and three right now. We’d be battling for first in the division. We’d be right there in the thick of it. Even at five and five, then you’re in the thick of it, right? Like that’s stretch coming up. Yeah. Right. And you know, you just mentioned, you know, they are going to go on a run here. I mean they have three games the Marcus Mariota non Terry Mcccluren Haven having Washington Commanders with that defense are not beating the Dolphins on Sunday actually Dolphins might skull drag them a little bit to do you think Dan Quinn taking over play calling duty is going to give them a little bit of a shot in the arm maybe but they have they don’t have the talent to keep up with Wadd and Aane there’s just no doubt and Latimore’s out for them I mean uh Don Payne got suspended for this game I mean like yeah I think this is going to be another belt to massive game. Um, and then you have the Saints, right? Like a team that, you know, for all extensive purposes shouldn’t even be on the field with us. Uh, and then the Jets, and you know, I know the Jets have won a couple games here, but look, I’m just going to call it straight up to a Tongabaloa. He owns the Jets. He’s he’s their daddy, right? Like that’s just the facts of it. So, they win three games in a row here, then they’re what, six and seven. Like it’s funny because I I I kind of used one of those um playoff predictor like apps just to kind of see what I thought the schedule was going to look like and I actually had the Dolphins finish in with a pick that’s very familiar with us number 13. Uh because we just used it to get Kenny Grant. Um and that was with seven wins. So, you know, coming in the season I had them as an 89 team. Yeah, you did. You know, I I think it would take, you know, I’m not saying they can’t get there. I I think they’d have to play out their mind. But I will say, we just named those three games. Aaron Rogers and the Pittsburgh Steelers do not look like a good football team. They got they added Asante Samuel Jr. today. Did they? Yeah, that’s But I agree with you. I mean, Neil, did you see what Tomlin said when he was asked about what he thought about Rogers performance and he’s like, “You saw it out there. What do you think?” I’m like, “Oh my god, the honeymoon is over, brother.” Well, and that’s where like people, you know, were coming after me early in the year like you were an idiot forever suggesting that Mike Tomlin would be fired, blah blah blah. Well, it’s a long season and when the Ravens go started one and five and still go win that division, the Steelers on the outside looking in on the playoffs, I think it’s going to get very very heated in that organization behind closed doors. Um, so and look at Harbaugh looked like he might have been we were legitimately I legitimately had, you know, a foundation to stand on when I was saying, “Hey, when we were sucking and they were sucking, hey, if they fire Hoba, I’ll trade for him.” And now they’re turning it around and, you know, those whispers are starting to die down a little bit, at least on social media, because they’re starting to win again. Yeah. And they’re going to win. I mean, they have the Browns this weekend and they have the Jets. They’re they’re going to be winning. So, they’re gonna get they’re going to get right back in the thick of it. Never surprised me. They have the Steelers twice on their schedule. I think they’re better than Pittsburgh. They have the Bengals twice. Burrow looks like he’ll be back, you know, for our game. Yeah. Yeah. Honestly, Neil, the only thing that scares me on the schedule, Neil, Burrow doesn’t even scare me because of how bad that defense is. The only thing that scares me is, you know me, Neil, I’m a Baker guy. Yeah. and and him and a Mecca could go off on you on any second. They’re a good team. And then the Patriots, but they might have they could be have they they could have the division sewn up and could be resting starters by then. Yeah. And one thing I’ll say about the Bucks is, man, I don’t know why they just can’t be they’re not healthy this year. Their offensive line’s been a mess. They can’t get those receivers out there. Like I you know, Bucky Irvin hasn’t been on the field for a long time. I’m not I I’m with you. I think Baker Mayfield is awesome. Uh, but I do think the Buccaneers are are looking kind of like a shell of the team that I thought they were going to be. And that’s, you know, injuries are playing a big part of that. But like look, after what we saw this weekend, it’s not going to happen. But every game that’s on the rest of the schedule is a winnable game. I mean, the Bengals, if they even if they get Burrow, he’s probably rusty. And that defense might not even be the best defense in the SEC. Uh, you know what I mean? I mean like I I you know I I think they win three at the very least and ceiling of five but you know hey yeah I actually think we end up with seven or eight wins. Yeah. I think we fall like just I think we fall like just short. I agree with you. You know but you know you know where that goes right because we talked a lot about these quarterbacks and then we heard Tom McShay say this week that Dante Moore is likely returning to Oregon. Sounds like Lenor Sellers is all but going back to college football next year as well. So, it’s really a you’re not gonna have a shot at Yeah. You’re not gonna have a shot at Tai or or Mendoza. The Dolphins are out. I I again I had him went to simulator ended up with the 13th pick in the draft. So, when if if that happens, uh believe it or not, and this would never happen. Caleb DS was there. So, I took uh that won’t happen. And that’s why I hate I hate the simulators, but like look, I I know it’s not popular and I know people are like, “Oh, here you go.” Like, “You wanted to start over.” I I do. I want to draft a quarterback, but I’m not going to force it. I’m not going to take a guy at 13 that I because I’m a tears going back. Le a lot of people are going back. It’s going to be Simpson and I’ll take Sorsby at the I’ll take Sorsby at the top of the second, but you might have to get into the 20s to get him by the time combine’s done. You know what? I I’m making my bed like this. I’m worried about quarterbacks in 2027. I, you know, I am. So am I. I am. I’m not because I I don’t see the vision. Good. Yeah. And there’s going to be eight guys in that class versus two in this class. And look, the Browns and Saints, like the team that’s going to be on the outside looking in this year, I think it’s in a bad spot is the Jets because I think they’re going to win a couple more games this year. And I think Cleveland I don’t think that’s the plan, Neil. You know what I You know what I think their plan is, Neil? I think their plan is 20272. I think they’re going to try and pull. You remember how the Texans pulled out Straoud and Will Anderson? They’re going to take the same stance. They’re going to try and pull out Julian Sean and Jeremiah Smith because I think they’re looking at it this way. Use that top pick on Julian Seyan and then they think it’s probably going to go more is going to be in that conversation of the first three. You could really have the first three or four could be saying more sellers if he develops. I don’t know if Arch is going to get into that conversation cuz he got to go a long way. But I’ll tell you what Sam has been playing better. He’s been playing better. Sam Levit with another year too, brother. Um, that kid is going to be something. That guy and John Matier, he’s he wants to go back to get get another shot at the Red River Classic and get back into the Heisman race. I mean, you got six guys. And so, they’re probably thinking, “Okay, get Julian Sean one cuz that’s if the draft was today, Julian Sean would be one. Get Julian Sean one.” And then they’re probably thinking, we don’t got to get till we don’t we can wait till four or five to get Jeremiah Smith. We don’t got to trade back up into the top three. And I think that’s what their thought process is is they’re going to tr because then think about it. Sean, what do Smith and Garrett Wilson all have in common? Ohio State, right? And I think that and they told Garrett Wilson was the one guy that was untouchable on offense. I think that’s their plan, bro. And I think this year if they have to trade back, they’ll be like, “Yeah, whatever. Let’s trade back.” Yeah. Well, they’re going to have to do that, I think, because unfortunately the teams they traded with, the Colts and Cowboys, aren’t going to I don’t think it’ll be top 20 picks in any of these drafts for them. So that like Samyan’s going number one next year. I’d be shocked if not I think he’s the best of all the Well, that’s right now so much can happen and like even you said Arch is playing really well right now and like who knows, right? Cuz of the name on the back of the jersey. Who knows? I agree with you. Saints, I’m still skeptical. I’m still If the Saints had the first pick in this and CJ Bailey can come out next year, too, can he? Yeah. And look, there’s uh he’s real good. Dylan Riola is another guy, right? Yeah. Look, I’m telling you, there’s talent in DJ Lagway if he goes to a school that can coach him. Like, there’s another guy that’s a prospect that can go Yeah. But but yeah, I I’m I think I still think that there’s a chance that the Saints had the first overall pick this year that Arch Manning declares to be honest. I I really do. I think if the Saints have that number one pick, I think they’re going to take Ty Simpson. I if they stay with that pick, I think they would take him over Mendoza. Yeah, there’s a little there’s a little there’s a little burrow to Ty Simpson. There’s no doubt. Yeah, dude. I think what’s going to separate Tai Simpson from Mendoza is the combine. It could. It’s clear who the better athlete is, right? It’s going to be a great interview. Ty Simpson is going to be a great interview. Yeah. And like, dude, you know what else? You know, everyone wants to say Mendoza is pro ready, and I agree with that. The mechanics on Tai Simpson are pretty damn near pro ready. And I think that’s what that like they’re going to look at the mechanics are really good, and they’re going to look at he’s got a really good head on his shoulders. And then you look at the athleticism. Like I’ll tell you this right now, I think if Dante Moore came out, Dante Moore probably would have been the number one overall pick. I I honestly he’s got a little bit of what all both of those guys had. He’s got better size than Simpson like Mendoza. He’s a better athlete than Mendoza like Simpson. He’s got a live arm, right? And what it like Simpson and Mendoza, he’s well, I think he’s even more pinpoint accurate than those two. And I I And he’s younger. Yeah. And I I think Dante Moore probably would. But bro, Dante Moore is he is the one right now if the draft if 2027 was today. He’s the only one I think can really contest Julian saying for QB1 next year. Right now that can change. Sam Levit can change. Arch can change. CJ Bailey can have a good year. Like there’s guys who can have great years and but Dante Moore right now would be number two off the board behind San for me. Well, what I obviously what I’ve been saying with Moore is that if if McDaniel’s back and if they go win the next three games, I feel like he’s going to save his job. No doubt about it. And I think Moore would have been the perfect quarterback for Mike McDaniel. It would have been perfect. And I and I like, you know, I know McShane and I trust Tom McShay and his sources. No doubt about it. But a lot can change between now and the end of the of the year as well. But you know what I said to someone, Neil? How much do you think that Oregon no money hits for? Like when you actually think about it, right? Like the team’s freaking sponsored by Nike, bro. Like think we hear about these guys getting, you know, like apparently Jawan um Sabatell, the money they’re going to give him to stay at Cal is going to be like between 6 to 8 million. Didn’t Beck like get six or seven million to go to Miami. Imagine how much money Oregon will they’ll come up with nilwise for Dante Moore. Do you think Sellers goes to Miami? Yeah, I think it’s going to happen. I do. Yeah, I think that’s a spot where he’s gonna land. He needs to get to a better stat. He needs help around him, dude. Like to He not only needs better coaching, he needs help around him to help his development, bro. Like Nick Harour just didn’t He’s a freak, but he just didn’t turn into He’s not He’s not a football player yet. Really? He’s just an athlete, right? Well, look. Yeah. And like if you’re a top five pick and I’m your age and I’m telling you to come out. That’s where like I you know there’s this process still got to play out like Tai Simpson hasn’t even officially declared, right? Like you know what I mean? Like like if Mendoza is the only guy, one of those two guys is going to get there. And if in a weak quarterback class, which this is, I I wouldn’t be shocked if Dante Moore had a change of heart. I really wouldn’t. But we’ll see what happens there. But you you’re talking about these receivers, man. And that to me is the strength of this draft class. It is offensively. Yeah. Oh my god. Between Jordan Tyson, but I’ll take Thano if he’s on the board at 13, brother. I think Well, I I see I don’t think any offensive lineman go top 10. I think he’s the only one that has a chance. But I I I hear what you’re saying. See, for me, man, I’ll tell you like I We got to move off Jackson, brother. What are we doing here? No, we got to He’s gone. But like Bane’s going to be gone, obviously. Reese is going to be gone. You You know, we we talked about the quarterbacks. They’re they’re down. See, I’ll say this. If DS kind of reminds me of like the Brock Bower situation where he’s a tremendous player at a low value position, man, I if the Dolphins I DS is a guy that I run to the podium for. No doubt with Would you take Sadique at 13? [Music] I like him. He does everything. Yeah, I mean I like him because I have him as a top 15 player. you know, I wouldn’t be hateful of it, but I I’d rather I’d honestly go Mai Lemon from USC over him. Um, the guy who I would love for us to get us our hands on in round two would be uh Conpsion, the uh wide receiver from Texas A&M. Dude, his burst is insane. But the guy I’ll tell you, the guy who I’m falling in love with for the Dolphins, and I think he’s gonna be this year’s Kenny Grant is Sunny Styles from Ohio State. Oh, I say I think pairing him with Jordan Brooks would give us just an absolute like but 13’s too high. He’s you could trade in the 20s. I I try to move back probably and do it, but man, have you I mean I a Reese I mean Arbell Reese is the best defensive player in college football. We’re not getting him though. That’s Yeah, I I actually think he’s going to be a better pass rusher than offball linebacker the next level. But when you watch him there, Sunny Styles pops and their defensive lineman, uh, Kaden McDonald, who’s their big defensive nose tackle, man. I think he’s like 348, 6’4, man. He is so stout against Ohio State is s this year’s Ohio State team on offense and defense, man, is as complete of a football team as you’ll see. They’re winning it. They’re winning it again. They are. Yeah. I’d be shocked if they don’t win it again. Yeah, they’re stacked for sure, man. But it’s awesome. And that’s what happens, right? You you you win a game, you win a game against the Bills. If you and I’m not trying to tell anyone how to fan, you do whatever you want. But if beating a team that is a legitimate top five Super Bowl contender that has owned you for years and beat them in the fashion you do, and that makes you upset, I’m my advice to you would be, man, maybe being a Dolphins fan ain’t for you because I don’t know how you watched that game in Cabaret. Like I was like I was like floating since Sunday, you know what I mean, man. It’s been awesome, man. Like I mean like you know to hear like I mean we didn’t just beat them, man. We beat the [ __ ] out of that team like at all faces of the game. I I just like I don’t I don’t get it, man. I don’t get how you can be upset if you’re a fan of a team and they do that. What if What if they take a corner? Because I mean it it kind of makes sense, right? like McCoy probably off the board, but what if they go after trade back a little bit and they and they, you know, they go after a well, no, they’d probably have to stay there to get a Mansour Mansour Delaney, but I mean, Avon Terrell, too. What if they go with a corner because that’s a definite position of need. Yeah. You know what? I Jam McCoy is a really good player. Like, gone though. He’s probably gonna go like top 10. Top Yeah. The thing that scares me though is he had a pretty horrific injury last year. I I do like him. He’s he definitely if you take health out of the he’s number one. I do like Delane for us. But I’ll tell you man, like I think because you know we were talking about this before the air like the Dolphins need a starting pair of cornerbacks. There’s no doubt. Right. But like I think that the corners we’ve signed, Jack Jones and Russell Douglas, have played really good football this year. And like I I it for the right price on a short-term deal, I’d bring them both back to be my third and fourth corner. And you know, there’s a young guy that we have under control next year who had an amazing game this week, Juju Brent, who a lot of us loved coming out of Kansas State. We loved his link. He’s on my man. Yeah, he’s a fluid mover. You know, we talked about him on this pod a lot. And yeah, man, man, did he not have an amazing game or what now? Yeah, they they need a corner. And I honestly think corner is the the wide receiver ver on the defensive side of the ball. It is a deep deep deep draft. There’s guys like Chandler Rivers from Duke who I love. Willie the third from Texas A&M. Colton the Hood’s another guy. Yeah. Brandon Cece from South Carolina is a guy that a lot of people are going to start giving a lot of love because Diego State 20 player. Yeah. Chris Johnson. Uh they have what’s his name? Davis Benson from uh Ohio State. Like there it’s a Demani Jackson from Alabama is a guy that I like a little bit. I mean there there you know D’Angelo Pounds is another guy. Pawns I mean there’s there is guys like all over this place. So corner is definitely on my radar. Pass rusher is going to be on our radar. And you know there’s guys we didn’t even mention Malik Muhammad either, you know. Yeah, Malik Muhammad from Texas who had he actually played Jeremiah Smith as good as anyone did this year. You know that’s that’s a tough ask. But I I also think you know the Dolphins will probably be in the pass rushing market. Cash How’s a guy that could be there or Mason Thomas from I think I think there’s David Bailey. Well, I was gonna say there’s a chance when we get to the combine David Bailey might jump Ruben Bane because of the combine, dude. He is I I David Bailey even at Stanford was a pure disruptor. Him and Romelo height at Texas. Don’t you think the combine is what’s going to hold Ruben Bane back a little bit potentially because he’s not the kind of athlete that some of these guys are? He’s a top five pick. Honestly, you know what? You know, I I think he’s going to be a guy the Jets are going to get because I don’t think the Jets are gonna I think they’re going to be on the outside looking in on one of those quarterbacks and take a guy like him to pair with Will McDonald and Germaine Johnson, but he’s he’s not going to he’s not going to blow up the combine. And you know, I think guys like um the Oregon pass rusher uh Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh pronunciation. I think he’s going to be a combine warrior, but David Bailey, David Bailey is one of my favorite players in this draft to be honest. Yeah, there’s there’s a lot of good defensive talent in this draft. Yeah, there is. There is. All right. Well, speaking of the draft, Neil, um Miami Dolphins, uh Stephen Ross continues to clean house in the Miami Dolphin front office. More changes happened just last night. The Dolphins parted ways with co-directors of player personnel Adam Ingram and Anthony Hunt per sources. And this was first reported by Tom Pelisero. Now here’s the thing. Inro has been with the team for 26 seasons. Um Ingro, he ran the scouting department while Anthony Hunt has been with the team for 32 seasons. He was mainly focused on free agent signings, trades, practice squad additions. Um, you know, both of these guys were right there with Chris Greer in terms of roster construction. And guess what? One of the biggest sticking points for people this year has been the roster construction in Miami. Now, we will discuss this impact on the potential general manager position after we discuss these firings. What are your thoughts here? Um, I mean, this is this is this is him continuing to say, “You guys aren’t doing a good enough job. Are you shocked Marvin Allen wasn’t sent packing as well?” Where are you at with these firings? Because this is kind of big news considering what we saw with Chris Greer only about two weeks ago, right? When you hear those 10 years, right, that’s staggering. 25, 32 years in a position at any career is impressive, right? But I think these are the first dominoes to fall and the many are going to follow. Uh, you know, you you you can see how flawed the Dolphins approach has been to scouting, right? Um, especially in positions where it matters. And with Chris Greer being removed, I think Greer was the protector for a lot of people’s longevity within that organization, right? Because he had worked at the organization for 20 plus years. And when you’re colleagues of somebody for decades, right, you build bonds and you don’t want to break them and you build loyalties that you have a hard time probably exercising against. So I I think this is the first of many moves related to this department. Um, I think, you know, obviously with Greer not being in that position anymore, whoever does get that chair is going to have a lot more say of who does what there. And I complet I I expect when all said and done, a complete overhaul of almost that entire department and fresh blood coming in. Um, yeah. It’s to me, I mean, and and this is the thing, too. I mean, their whole draft vision is going to change. You know what I mean? That’s why we’re talking about so many different positions cuz, you know, we don’t even know who’s in the position of power yet. But, I mean, I mean, like, I don’t think it’s a coincidence, you know what I mean? I mean, this team goes out and wins after Chris Greer’s fire. I think a message was sent and I think a message was received that the guy who put this all together is out. All of you who he put together, no one is safe and now they’re continuing to move off of long tenure guys. I mean, everyone gave Chris Greer hell for being here for 25 years and now we’re getting rid of guys who have been here for even longer than Chris Greer has been. And I think you nailed it. I think Chris Greer was a protector, but I also think a guy like Tom Garfinkle was a protector of Chris Greer. I think, you know, if they’re going to fire protectors, these guys got to look in the mirror because who was protecting Danny Crossman and Josh Boyer when we took when Mike McDaniel took the job? I mean, it wasn’t just Chris Greer, right? You know, so I I mean, you know, like I I don’t know. I I’m excited to see how this all goes. But the main question that’s coming now from people is Neil, usually when you make moves like this in season, this could indicate that you’ve made some headway or you are getting close to a decision on a general manager. Now, usually these searches don’t happen till, you know, the off season, but I mean, they did say in their statement that they were going to start the process right away. Where do you think they are with that general manager process considering they’re getting rid of guys that a new general manager, he’s going to bring in his guys to overlook player personnel? Um, what what what do you see this situation as? And I guess where I’m going with this is, do you think this could mean Champ Kelly is here for more than just the interimm? Well, I I I think it definitely means he’s in consideration. There’s no doubt. And I always thought he would have consideration. And I’ll be honest, like I’m actually a Champ Kelly fan. I think I had him as as my eighth best candidate for the job. And this is back when the football season started. So I I do like him. Um, right now though, I think, you know, we’ve all seen the movie Office Space. I I think he’s playing the roles of one of the Bobs right now. Uh, I think he is, you know, trying to clean out the dead weight, see who’s carrying their weight, see who’s bringing value to the organization and who’s not. So, I think right now he’s the guy who’s finding skeletons and, you know, and, you know, he probably came here and learned a little bit about how people operated. And these two guys that were canned this week are the first two to go because probably he said like their vision doesn’t align with where we’re heading with what to today’s modern-day NFL vision should be. You know, something made him and for Steven Ross to give him the blessing to let go of two employees that have a combined 55 years of tenure in the organization, that means at least Champ Kelly does have some type of stroke there. Uh, you know, I do think and we said this a few weeks ago that, you know, I think I said it’s 40%, McDaniel stays 60, he’s gone. I I think that’s getting more to I I think you flip him now. I think it’s more like he’s staying 60. They said 80 last week, brother, before they beat Buffalo. So, yeah. I mean, they keep winning. There’s I I mean, they’re he’s going to earn himself another season here. And plus, I think that marries to the TUA contract, but but I still don’t think Champ Kelly is going to win this position when it’s all said and done. And I think the sell to this GM is going to be, you know, I because I here’s what there’s two ways to look at it. Sure, you don’t want to saddle a new GM with a coach that he doesn’t want. Doesn’t make sense. Yeah. But I think there’s going to be GMs that want Mike McDaniel. I really do. I agree with that. Yeah. Yep. I I think they’re gonna see him as a young visionary who is as well. I think it’d be easier to sell McDaniel to a new GM than Tua. Oh, yeah. I think Tu is I think Tua is a wounded duck, man. I I don’t think any GM I think he’s a stop gap next year, and that’s where it ends here. Um, and look, you know, I’m not I don’t want to go beat the drum. He’s regressed. There’s no doubt about it. He’s not the player he was. He’s not awful. It’s because he stopped working. His body isn’t in the same physical shape it was because he stopped working with Nick Hicks. And we saw like look at even when he came back from the concussion last year, look at how good he was. And that’s because he put in the off season with 3DQB. When you’re going to cut 3D QB and perform out and take away that, you know, you’re not a great athlete. You got to be in top tier physical shape. You know, you got to be doing these muscle memory mechanical drills. You got to be doing this kind of stuff. And 3DQB is the best of the best. more than half the starting c what like like half of the starting quarterbacks in the NFL work with them or something like that and you know there’s a reason why right like Tom Brady put and Tom House put that on the map and Drew Brees worked with them there’s a reason why these guys look at and Tom Brady and Drew Brees what were they they were never top tier athletes were guys who had to be in top tier physical shapes to get the most out of their arm to get their most out of their game to get the most out of their body right who is that type of guy you need to put in that type of offseason season where you need to be one of the hardest workers in the offseason to get the most out of your game, out of your arm, and out of your body. And we’re not seeing that right now. Now, the Dolphins, they play a little bit of a part in that because when he signed that big deal, they said, “Hey, now everything has to go through us because of insurance liabilities, right? Everything’s got to go through us because it’s a 200 plus million dollar contract. So, and we know that whether it was Flores or McDaniel, the organization of the Miami Dolphins have never been fans to perform for some reason. And you know, so that’s why Neil, I mean, when you’re like cuz a lot of the issues you’re seeing with M with Tua this year are mechanical. Well, you know this 2023 I think he flirted with being the top 10 quarterback in the league. Yeah. I think last season he was more like the 15th and I feel like this year he’s more like the 20th and it’s a trend where we’re seeing and that gap between what he was in 2023 and now is pretty massive for me. So, you know what your timeline with him and you know who he was working out with and and who was training him kind of mirrors that timeline. Yeah. So, you can see Yeah. He he and and honestly, I feel like he looks like a guy who’s lost his confidence completely in himself and his arm and everything. And now that’s why I didn’t like them greing those prayer balls, Neil, because I talked about this yesterday. You want to build his confidence up too if you’re going to make a run here. And you don’t, everyone’s been talking the last couple weeks about how he’s one of the league leaders in interceptions. Imagine if he comes out of that game clean with the two touchdowns and you know those nice throws to Nick Westbrook a Keen that dart that Bishop tried to undercut the touchdown throw to Wadd and even that touchdown the placement on the throw to Malik. The touchdown throw to Malik was really nice. You come out clean with the victory that can build the confidence but instead hey throw up some prayers too. I didn’t like that. That’s another reason. Yeah, I I I I hated the interceptions because I I think it took away from a very good game from him. Not a great game, but efficient. I mean, that waddle throw was was in a bucket. That was amazing. Like, I I I I think, you know, he played a good efficient, smart football game. Those two picks were ugly. The first pick early in the game. It’s hard to, you know, it’s going to be I don’t really care what the national perspective of the guy is, but it’s hard to bounce back from that ugly throw to start your game. But like, you know, I I I know this about the Dolphins when I say I think the nucleus of this football team on offense is four players. I think it’s Wadd, Achain, Patrick Paul, and Aaron Brewer. And I think on the defensive side of the ball, it’s Kenny Grant, it’s Chop Robinson. I think it’s Zack Cer, even though, you know, he’s starting to find his mojo. I think it’s Jordan Brooks. And that’s not to take away from anybody else on any of these positions because I’ll say MO was really good on Sunday. I I was just going to say I think Mango’s a top five defensive player in football in on his performance last week. I think he played amazing amazing and you know it’s one of those things like you know we talk about the offseason like we said before air Brewer Jordan Brooks all three of them should get extensions this offseason. It’s it’s a no-brainer. You can shape it so it doesn’t hit your impact your cap this much this year. it hits when Tua comes off your books the year after. Like, it’s it’s it’s perfect synergy to make that happen. Jack Jones, Russell Douglas, depending on what they’re looking like. I I’m all about bringing them back a one-year proven type deals, $5 million with incentives. I think both of them have been very quality starters. But, you know, one of the big things you got to determine this off seasonason is what you do with Maker Fitzpatrick because they restructured his deal to give him guaranteed money this year. He doesn’t have a lot. He is under contract, but his contract is not team friendly. The way to reduce that is to either trade him or to extend him and rework his money. So, it’ll be interesting to see what he does. I mean, Ma Fitzpatrick has been really really good here, man. I mean, he was awesome on Sunday. I I actually think he was as good as any player on our team. It’s just it’s not as ga because you don’t get offensive production. But man, that fourth and one when he was where he was supposed to be and knocked it, that was that that changed the game in my perception. Like that was where like the Bills usually come back and start to find their mojo. That was a key stop. And Minko played it perfectly. And then that two-point conversion, he cut the head off the snake, man. That was such a smart, heavy football play. It was a huge play because it kept it as a two-possession game. And that that was that was huge. They get that and it’s 16 to eight. I think we’re all biting our nails whether is Josh Allen gonna pull this off against us again, right? So, good good for man. Neil, I talked about this yesterday. How beautiful was it? That was the first thing like Flores never did this for as great of a defensive mind he was. And that’s why I think Weaver deserves some flowers. How great was it when they focused in in the second half and especially after the Melanu pick and they focus in on Josh Allen? When was the last time you saw him look like that, Neil? Where he didn’t have an answer and he just looked stressed out and he just looked like what do I got to do here? Cuz remember he’s trying to put the team on his back and just couldn’t do it and it looked like they were going to score on that second on that drive to start the second half and then he threw the pick like and they focused in on him and he looked defeated like he looked like I don’t know how to beat these guys. When how good did that feel, Neil? cuz that is one moment I will take away from that game forever. Like that because we haven’t seen that very often. He’s 14 and three against us. Yeah. And and I think he was surprised that it was the Miami Dolphins that made him that befuddled, right? Like Yeah. Like he he like you look at I mean he has alltime stats against the Miami Dolphins. Like he is the Dolphin killer. But man, that was one of the worst games he’s ever played in his career. And he didn’t have any answers. And I’ll be honest, man, if I was a Bills fan, I’d be pretty worried about that window because they do not have a lot of talent outside of him and James Cook on the offensive side of the ball. Bradley Chub, you know, who we all wanted to trade the deadline and I still would have done it. He beat Deion Dawkins like a drum all day long. He had him in the blender. Uh I mean, you know, their defense is okay, but I don’t you know, and Oliver is a big loss out there. Their secondary is not that good. I mean, you know, I know Harrison got that pick. I don’t think it was a good throw. I I think Wadd could have got open all day long on that guy. Thank And thank we didn’t even mention this, but thank God they did not trade Jaylen Wadd the Buffalo Bills. I I might I might be facing f five to 25 years or a for a second round pick. Yeah, that there could have been some charges coming against me if that kind of [ __ ] happened. I I I like I would have been very like those are two untouchable players on this roster to me. Um Yeah, dude. Untouchable. As much as we’re talking about Josh Allen is the the Dolphins kryptonite, correct me if I’m wrong, but can’t we make the argument that Achan is their kryptonite? Because I’ve said this when you look at this, what’s been a big problem for the Miami Dolphins, right? Go back to Flores, go back to Gase, go back to whoever we on big games, let’s go back to Flores, big games, right? 2020, win and get in against Buffalo, only Andrew Vanu gets off the bus. 2021 win and get in basically against the Tennessee Titans. Only Duke Johnson gets off the bus. We have always had a problem with not having guys consistently get off the bus in big games in big moments against good teams. Devon Achan consistently gets off the bus against good teams in big moments. And guess what? You can make the argument he’s kind of a Bills killer. He always shows up against the Bills. This guy put up 225 allpurpose yards. Neil, you do not trade players like that. You continue to build around them, especially if you plan on drafting a young quarterback in the next two to three years because you want players like that to make that quarterback’s life easy. And if you’re not and you’re sticking with Tua, you want players like that to make Tua’s life easy. So either way you go, you keep building around players like that. And Waddle fits in that because I’ve said to people, go look over the last three years. Go count how many games Jaylen Wadd has had 10 plus targets. It doesn’t happen very often at all. I mean, he had what, five, five or six targets in the first half and he only ended up with seven. This guy’s consistently finishing with 80 to 120 yards on seven or eight targets. Imagine if we gave him 11 to 14 targets and we made sure uh Devon Achan between the pass game and the run game, he got 25 to 30 touches. Imagine what our offense and I said one of my keys to victory heading into this game was you need to make them the focal point. You need to let your playmakers do their thing. They did it early on and look at the success they had. You need to like Jaylen that needs to be a weekly thing. That has to be a weekly Jaylen Wadd showing wide receiver one traits on like six, seven, eight targets, bro. And he looks more explosive than he has in years. And and there’s no doubt about it. Over the last calendar year, he’s proven he is a better wide receiver right now than Tyreek Hill. It is what it is. Like you can tell me I’m wrong that Jaylen Wadd is is he is awesome and he needs more opportunity. And on 18 chain, man, if you’re starting an NFL team from scratch today and you factor a age injury, because I think Henry, Barkley, Jonathan Taylor, right, they’re all elite. Christian McCaffrey, they’re the four best running backs in football to me, right? But if I’m starting a team from scratch today and I’m going the young running back route and I’m factoring age and all that stuff, to me, it’s a chain, it’s Bejian Robinson, and it’s Jir Gibbs. Like a Achain is in that tier. He’s right in that tier and he’s a weapon man when you consider he’s a third round pick and Gibbs was with top 15 pick like you know that’s that as much as you know we we and Mike McDaniel wanted him remember that was a Mike McDaniel wanted to take him with that Cam Smith pick but Greer put his foot down and got Cam Smith and Ross probably saw that right and just imagine that because then if he was a second round pick who knows what would have happened round three like Cam Smith is released and not a team sniffed him right like that’s not a good sign for his career but a chain is awesome Hane is a guy like I I was asked this question kind of during the preseason like would I pay 12 million? [ __ ] I I’d pay 16. 15 16. Yeah. You you name you name what Devon Hane wants, you know, and obviously within reason and I’m going to say yes because I’m not letting that guy go to another team. Well, is he the is he the best route runner of any running back in the league? I mean, you can literally line him up out of the slaughter on the boundary and look at some of the catches he’s made. I mean, dude, he like when when they do the top 100 players of this year, Devon Aan’s going to gonna fall in the top. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. He’s gonna fall in the top 20 players. Like, well, I don’t know if he’ll fall that high, but yeah, it’ll be in the top 50 for sure. I do. Man, think about this. What’s he got? 880 rushing, 400. So, he’s got over,200 yards of offense. If this He’s got 780 something yards rushing, and then he’s got he’s got a little he’s got like,5 or six yards allpurpose. And he’s got and then he’s got nine touchdowns, I think. Here, let me look. Right. Like, think of think if he gets to 2,000 total yards, dude. Think about that. Yeah. He’s got 780 rushing and then he’s got Yeah. 325. So, he’s got,00 uh receiving. So, he’s got 1125 yards and uh he’s got five rushing touchdowns and he’s got four receiving touchdowns. So, 1125 yards and nine touchdowns. So, just say if he gets the 2,000 yards and 17 touchdowns, that is an insane. But like, you know what’s funny is coming in this week, this game before Buffalo, uh, the Dolphins were the only team in football that had two players in the top 10 of all perfect yards of the NFL. It was a chain, I think he was 10th, and that number four was actually Malik Washington because they capture your your return yards. Like, he he had I think he had,5 yards of He’s been a very good returner, bro. I mean, look, dude, he’s he like he’s not a elite player by any means, but if he’s a number three receiver on your team and he’s your kick returner guy, he has a lot of freaking value, man. Like, Malik Washington’s a good football player. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Um, let’s keep it rolling. Before we do though, I want to shout out the sponsor of today’s video. That of course is Sleeper. All right, Neil. The Dolphins, they have the beginning of what many would call a threeame cupcake schedule coming up right now. All right. And it starts this week in Spain with the Washington Commanders. And then they got the Saints after the buy. And then the Jets. Marcus Mariota is going to be starting for the um Washington Commanders. And he doesn’t look anywhere near as good as he did last year when he came in for relief for uh Jaden Daniels. Um what are your thoughts heading into this Spain game? Oh, it’s I I think a beatdown is ensuing. Like I I think the Commanders have to go down as one of the biggest disappointments in the entire football league coming off of the NFC Championship season that they had last season, right? Like they paid Terry McLuren and this dude’s been nothing but hurt, right? They traded for Laramie Tonsel. He’s been good. Their first round pick, Josh Connley has not been good. Uh Marshon Latimore, you know, whatever they traded for him last year was a horrendous trade. He’s a declining player, but like him twing his ACL, I mean, he’s still their, you know, top cornerback. And then, you know, obviously Jaden Daniels is battling injuries all season. And if you’re a Commander fan, you probably have some memories of RG3 dancing through your head right now. So, like, they’ve had a bad season. They’re a bad football team. And you know, one of the reasons I feel like the Dolphins on the defensive side of the ball and and shout out to Anthony Weaver who has really started to get this defense humming at this point, but I I think you know, our front with Grant Phillips and Sealer are going to play the run well. And I don’t think there’s any dynamic back that the commanders have that can Well, let me tell you something. Jakori Kroski Merritt was worrying me a little bit until this front seven started showing a little bit. That kid’s got some juice to him, dude. Yeah, he does. But god, man, if he’s got juice. Unfortunately, there’s a a psychopath named Jordan Brooks at linebacker for the Dolphins that you know I I mean, dude, he is playing. I mean, like, he is I I I’m think he’s playing at a borderline allp pro level. And I think I think Trey Amos has actually been really good. You remember I was high on him coming out of he’s actually been probably their best rookie to be honest with you. Them and they and I do like Sandra still for them. Uh, but they’re they’re gonna, like we said, they’re gonna be out Don Payne. Um, they’re out Latimore. They’re out D Daniels. They’re out Mclloren. Like Debo Samuels. I think they’re gonna they’re Debo Samuel try to get him. I think they’re going to try to get him the ball in a variety of ways, but they don’t have a lot of speed. That scares me on the back end. I I think it’s going to be a really good showing for our defense. And man, if if if McDaniel does not utilize the eight chain waddle tandem in this football game, he he’s crazy. They they they should be able I mean, this is a lesser defense than what we just saw in Buffalo. And we saw what those guys could do. Like I I would tear them up with a chain every which way. And man, I don’t care if it’s Amos. I don’t care who’s on the outside. Give Wadd some shots. I mean, the world’s gonna be watching 9:30 freaking like I’m I’m actually hosting a brunch here with a Commander guy coming over here. Uh I want to be dancing in his face, taking shots of fireball for every damn touchdown we score. And I’m hoping it’s one of those 10 shot type of days. Every time you score on them, tell them, “Hey, it could be worse. We could be whooping your ass in Donald Trump Donald J. Trump stadium.” Huh. Um what do you So you think that uh do you think they win this game? Double digit win. double digit win. Yeah, I I I I actually think this I actually think this is the the easiest game remaining on our schedule over the Saints and Jets to be honest. I think that Mariota is the worst starting quarterback in football right now, right? Like they have no which is crazy. He was good last year for them when they relied on he was actually like really good for them last year and this year he’s just that whole team has not been well and make Fitzpatrick has become the tight end eraser. So I don’t think that hurts is going to do much against and he’s old, right? You know what’s crazy is like they’ve actually got the foundation for a good offensive line with like Tyler Bottish, Sam Cosby, and Laram Tonsel when he’s healthy, but yeah, Josh Connory, I was afraid of us drafting him. So, I wanted to get your quick thoughts, too. Um, what did you think about Jaylen Phillips’s debut? Because Jaylen Phillips, eight pressures, seven hurries, one quarterback hit. Um, I mean, what, six total tackles, five stops, a force fumble that ended the game and a fumble recovery quickly. What did you think about him? Not surprised at all. I It always happens to us, but I also think Jaylen Phillips is a good player. I just think it was still the right move. Good for Jaylen Phillips. I’m not going to root against him. I don’t want the Eagles to win a Super Bowl, that’s for sure. So, um, but you know, I think Jayen Phelps is a good player and I think he’s going to make plays there, but I also saw that he didn’t get the sack that he should have got in a clutch moment of that game as well. So, that that kind of tends to carry him. I do wish him the best of luck, but, you know, I’d make that trade again 10 out of 10 times. Yeah. and he uh again he he kind of made a quote that not many people are uh you know real happy about because he basically talked about like you know how it’s just a different feeling over there and you know no panic when things got hard blah blah blah blah blah but anyways guys do us a favor please over 450 of you in the room smash that like button go ahead and subscribe if you are new I’m going to be live tomorrow night Richmond he’s back from Miami. Saints won't take another QB, in my opinion.
I have a feeling that the Browns are going to beat the Ravens…
.
What's wrong with drafting a QB in the 2nd round or later…How many QBs that were good or great were drafted in the late 1st round or after…Marino is one we all know…How many at 1 or 2 or 3 are busts…Too many to mention…Just saying….
I see the Dolphins secondary starting to gel…I remember Reason saying it takes about 8 games for a rookie to start getting it ..He also talked about how the defense has to gel, and they have to learn how to play defense with each other …Juju Brents might actually make up for that awful Cam Smith pick…That man can play, size and athleticism combined…He had the injury bug, but I saw a lot of flashes from him Sunday…If we sign Douglas for another year, and we get Kohoe back…We might have a really great young secondary..Draft a corner in the second or third, and sign the 31 year old Douglas for another year….Miami went from having the worst linebacker corps to one of the best…With Brooks, Dodson, Britt, and Gay I think we are good with lbs now….I think we need a corner, offensive tackle, another guard, maybe another safety, another big bodied wide receiver..Keep Malick Washington, Waddle of course, Taj Washington, Smith( the receiver we got from the Titans…We could draft a QB, but I think that we can wait ..I will leave that up to you guys if I'm wrong….I remember what it was like without a QB for 20 years….Oh yeah, we need another defensive end…Chubb might not be here….
Jojo Trader from the hurricanes is a great wide receiver..
Once upon a time Andy Reid was not a sexy hire for a non sexy place in KC. Get rid of McDaniel, stop fanasizing about some college ranks egomaniac coach, and hire a veteran HC.
Reason, great job as always by you and Neal. Sorry I wasn't in the Chat I haven't been getting notifications and I've hit the bell numerous times. I'll continue to do so though.
In this coming Draft the Dolphins are keeping Tua and finish off the oline by getting a RG and RT and see what Tua can do behind an average or better oline because if you trade Tua and he gets behind a better oline Tua leads them to the Super Bowls then the Dolphins will look dumb. It'll be McDaniel and Weaver as the DC and HC again and Tua will be the QB1. They'll keep Ewers as their QB 2 and have him learn from Tua and don't see them drafting a QB this Draft and if they do it'll be a wasted draft pick because the Dolphins need a RG,RT,TE that can block and catch like a Kettle,Kelce, etc. remember Tua has never had an average or better oline in his entire NFL career. Those 3 players are needed on offense. On defense they look like their all set but could always could use solid back ups for solid rotation players just like the oline need solid rotation there as well.
Skill position sets that depends on Tyreek on what he does. I can't wait when WR Toney on the Hurricanes that use to play QB1 in high school and plays WR now and is really fast can't wait for him to come out in the Draft wouldn't mind getting him for sure.
Fins Up Reason
have they also forgot we finally beat a winning team? what about crushing that narrative
Kefe neal
I can't wait for you both to eat your words when Tua shows everyone he's still the Tua from Alabama, he has lacked a good O-line his entire NFL career. I will support him and have no doubt that he will lead an NFL team to a Super Bowl win. Sad how haters/doubters are increasing and supporters have decreased. Very sad
