Did the 49ers Just Give Up on 2025? — No Trade Deadline Moves
but a lot on the deadline that wasn’t. And like, no, I’m not going to come in here. I’m not screaming hot about this because I didn’t expect the NerS to do something. How many days in a row have I said first, second, third round draft picks are off the table. We’re not doing that. Um, and I don’t want you to just do something for the sake of doing it. I don’t want some sort of a figurehead move, but I sort of like the way you said it yesterday. You know what you needed today? A human being. Yep. You need another human being on the defensive line. And I do think that there is an emotional message that gets sent to a locker room that has done an unbelievable job to be six and three through everything they’ve experienced. So yeah, color me disappointed that the 49ers went silent on Tuesday, November 4th. They didn’t want to go top of the market, which Quinnon Williams was uh very expensive. And even, you know, Bradley Chub, there was talk about the Dolphins shopping him, but the price was too high for many teams that wanted to go out there and get into that market. And so, yeah, as you get into Trey Hendrickson, there was no rumor, no whisper today about him possibly being out there. And so if you’re the Niners and you’re not going to be in the top of the market, and I’m glad that they weren’t, well, now you’re looking at other teams, practice squads, and you’re looking at other possible bodies you can find to bring in. And you’ve got practice squad guys of your own. You’ve got Bryce Huff hopefully coming back soon. You just got Keon White. Cleveland Furl got a sack. Imagine that. A Niner who actually tackled the quarterback in the back field. That was kind of fun. So you do have reinforcements that you’ve already gotten. And if you’re not going to go out there and make a really, really, really big splash, then just go ahead and wait and now you can dumpster dive. Okay. But so we’re assuming that no more injuries will happen on the defensive line. They will happen for the rest of the year. They will happen. So what are we doing? You’re going to go to your own practice squad. You’re going to go to other teams practice squad and you’re going to sign people and bring in human beings who are 275 lbs or more and let them come in and wear Niner uniforms. But here’s the real question and and this is what I think fans um might be grappling with a little bit today. 8889579570 the number. Um did the 49ers by the way I’m going to go ahead and answer this yes already. But we’d love your answer. Did the 49ers signal today we’re not Super Bowl contenders this year? Math be damned. Six and three. Whatever they’re telling you it’s Super Bowl or try again. That’s what this year is. Well, every year is that, but Well, not last year. Yeah. No, cuz last year they lost about five or six starters. And so last year it really was bust. This year is really the epitome of what you talk about. This year you’re going to try again. You’re not going to bring in somebody on a one-year rental and darn it, we’re going for it. You’re not. You’re keeping your picks and you’re going to keep your young core and you’re going to try like heck, and then you’ll try again. No. See, I think what people feel today is that the Niners are not trying again. I think that’s the issue. I don’t think that people feel like the Niners are trying to win the Super Bowl this year. And the 49ers may privately say Exactly. Exactly. You can’t say that publicly because it just goes over like a barrel of rocks. So, you can’t do that. And we don’t like the word rebuild in a market like this and we shouldn’t. And I don’t think that this is a rebuild. I don’t think it’s that. But there are adjustments that get made every year. There is strategy. There is an approach. And the 49ers approach has been as clear as day. Do you remember how we all felt during free agency? What was the feeling? Remember, does everyone remember? Hey, Lynch, are you going to do something? No. And here we are again at the trade. Dearcus Robinson, right? Okay. Sure. You know, great. They got Demarcus Robinson. They got their apparently they’ve got their eighth and ninth receivers. Yep. Okay, great. Don’t forget about Luke Ferrell. Thank you. The feeling over free agency was I can’t believe how quiet the NerS have been and they just did it again. And if you can’t see the message, I think the clouds have dissipated and it is clear as day. The 49ers are rebooting their finances on the defensive side of the football. They are not interested at all in putting future assets out the window so that they can go for it this year because this year is not really what it’s all about. Like, hey, add a kid. slap on the butt Kyle Shanahan and Robert Salah because you’re doing a great job by being six and three while you’re both transitioning and beset by injuries. So that’s incredible. But the 49ers are not going to change their philosophy come hell or high water, no matter how badly we want them to do it. And the truth of the matter is is who you’d sat Kyle and Bob into a room before the year started and said here’s the list of people who will be injured this year. Many of them like overwhelmingly season ending. Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, see you later. Mike Williams, Brandon Iuk’s not coming back. Ricky Pierce all multiple games. Brock all but uh two three games. Okay. And and and uh Oh, your number one draft pick gone. That’s it. he’ll miss the second half of the season. If we had told them that based on their preseason strategy, I don’t think they would think they’d have more than two wins right now, but they have six and that has not compelled them to change their strategy. And that’s because of what you talk about versus results and it’s hard for fans. It’s hard for fans, but at the same time, if you really think that any of these additions would have changed their fortunes, like let’s say you got the Quinnon Williams deal. You got Quinn Williams, which means you would have had to trade Khalia Davis and a first and a second. You get Quinnon Williams. Okay, now are we we’re going to be Super Bowl? No, you have three or four other holes. And that’s what I’ve been thinking about this whole time. You’re not a team that is one player away. You look at Indie. Indie lost Mooney Ward to a concussion in like pre not preseason but pregame the weirdest thing ever. And they’re like whoa we’re really good. We need a corner. So you go out and you get soft. Is he just is he not coming back? What kind of concussion is this for Sharia? He’s on IR. So like okay I don’t know how long he’ll be out most concussions but it it was so bad that they had to put him on the list and so they need a corner. They’re seven and two. They think that they’re the team and so you go out and you get sauce. And so that’s what you do when you’re a team like Seattle. They’re thinking, you know what, we could use another receiver. We don’t know about Capper Coupe, so let’s go out and get a deep threat to go with JSN who’s really good and we get cut back. And we feel like we’re a team that could win this whole damn thing. The Niners are telling you they don’t think that. And that’s okay. I’m okay with it cuz they’re right. They’re right to think that. I agree with you. I mean, but that but as a fan, it’s frustrating. It sucks. It does, but at the same time, I’d rather have him be sensible than, you know, throw a bunch of ass at the wall and hope against hope that this is going to make the difference. But isn’t there a middle ground to that? Like, yes, I think that’s what they’ve done. I think uh I think they’ve done the middle ground. I don’t because of Mike Williams and because of Yeur Gross Matoss. I would agree with you if those two players were still playing football, but they’re not. So you can’t do like we got Keon White and Bryce Huff, right? But you lost Gross Moss and Mel Williams. So now you’re back at a sum zero again and you’re sitting here incredibly thin on the defensive line. Um I don’t want to dumpster dive. You’re 6 and three. In 5 days the Rams will be here and you have an opportunity to grab the division by the you know what. You have that opportunity. You are one win away this weekend from being 4-0 in the division, from being seven- one in the conference and sitting there at minimum either a top the division or right alongside the Seattle Seahawks as you move into a stretch of schedule that gets friendly again after this game. Cardinals, Panthers, Browns, like you really have an opportunity, but the team doesn’t really think so. Again, I get it. I would have loved a middle ground. That’s all I’m saying. You’ve got to give these guys something. Tell me that Trent Williams is like, “Yeah, yeah, we’re building for next year.” I wonder how that sits with Christian McCaffrey who’s got 500 touches already. You know what I mean?
The 49ers stayed completely silent at the trade deadline, and Willard and Dibs break down what that really means. With a 6-3 record and a chance to go 4-0 in the division against the Rams, did San Francisco just signal they’re not Super Bowl contenders this year? No Quincy Williams, no Bradley Chubb, no Trey Hendrickson—not even a practice squad body on the defensive line. The hosts debate whether the 49ers are rebooting their finances on defense, why keeping draft picks matters more than this season, and what message this sends to veterans like Trent Williams and Christian McCaffrey. Is there a middle ground between going all-in and doing nothing? Plus: comparisons to how the Colts landed Sauce Gardner and the Seahawks added depth, the emotional impact on the locker room, and why being one player away from contention doesn’t apply to this injury-riddled roster.

They suck at drafting in the first 3 rounds so
Problem is you have a healthy McCaffrey. You could have all the defense people playing next year and have a dominant defense but if McCaffrey isn't up and running then it's another excuse for not being in it
This is not a Super Bowl team PERIOD. This has been a season of over producing considering the injuries. If they even make the playoffs, it’ll be a one and done 1st round exit. There’s no point in giving up assets for rental players, past prime players. The way forward is thru DRAFT and staying young.
It was a slap to the face. These players are aging warner bosa trent cmc. No one knows if these guys will come back fine next year. This was punting the season away
So if 1st 2nd and 3rd round picks are off the table then they can’t make a trade because those were the only 2026 picks they could trade. Every other pick is either a comp pick or already tied up in shocker…another trade.
Time for a new regime…the NFC is wide open, they are 6 and 3, and the SB on home ground…and you said forget it and not competing??? Thats a fuking firing offense..
They must slowly move the ball on the Rams and keep Stafford on the sidelines as much as possible
They made trades before the deadline it just happened earlier..Sky Moore..Robinson..Huff..White and Ferrall.
Due to all the injuries, the 49ers might as well tanking to get better draft capital for next year.
I don't know why I click on these videos. The hyperbolic reactions are exhausting.
I'm a Seahawks fan who stumbled across this video. The 49ers caught the injury bug worse than anyone and are still performing at an elite level. Is it sustainable? From an outside perspective, I would say no. I think it was smart to stand pat and not over commit to a possible lost season. Shanahan is coaching his tail off so mad respect for the job he's done so far.
The sf management needs kudos it respected the guys on the roster rather having someone come from outside
Yes we will be cheap and try to compete with a bunch of young guys with no experience
Its a fail , next season most likely the odds will be there's gonna be more dominant teams, this year its the most wide open its been
What is jarring overall is that Mac Jones and Brock are so close overall and one makes 3.5 million per season and the other makes over 50 million per season the reality of that is much more quiet then what you expect and that is the biggest reason why we are not signing players 50 million per season or more should be reserved for the elite the Brock signing was just to cover up after several years we still don’t have a real franchise qb we keep rotating mid level QBs around but worse now paying one like they are elite your roster pays for decisions like that
If this was a “bust” year, then what was the point of getting Saleh if we’re not making a run for the post season. Just seems like a bigger waste in a talented coach that would absolutely dominate if this was a year we were trying to go all the way. I think fans like myself want to see Saleh get a ring off a great year with the Niners. Now that’s out the window? I mean, why wouldn’t he take a HC job after this year? So I am really confused by the Niners and John Lynch.
These are clowns! The NFL has kyle and Lynch ranked number 3 as coaching staff and GM. Dallas owe 60 million to 3 d-lineman. This was a rebuild year. Nobody picked us to beat Seattle or Rams. We are ahead of schedule.
Incompetent front office went silent during the trade deadline period. This team can’t make it to the playoff, less alone the super bowl this season.
Wrong. Niners don’t draft well. Core is finished. They quit on the fans and players
IDIOTS AND IMBECILES!
1- LYNCH TRIED EVERYTHING POSSIBLE – TOO EXPENSIVE IN DRAFT PICKS AND inflated salaries for players who could actually make a difference
2- RADIO GUYS ARE ALWAYS BRAIN DEAD- if there was anything that remotely made sense they would have pulled the trigger
3- TREY LANCE-:if Trey had of became a top 15 quarterback – would all the draft picks they lost have been worth it? ABSOLUTELY NOT! That experiment has hurt this team to this day. These last minute moves rarely work out in the best way possible. The Trey failure burns in everyone involved in that disaster- losing draft capital for players who don't work out KILLS A TEAM.
Radio guys always give the knee jerk emotional response to fill dead radio time😂😂😂😂😂

Yes… tanking season… not going anywhere this year… just lose all the games from now on… get higher pick next year.
