Should Jacoby Brissett, Not Kyler, be Cardinals’ QB1 the Rest of the Season? | The Rich Eisen Show

I I understand the Cardinals once upon a time were two-0 and then they lost five in a row and they lost them all in heartbreaking fashion and they finally got a win and it’s all good for them. And I know I started the show with the Dallas Cowboys as opposed to the Cardinals snapping that fivegame winning streak. And I’m going to talk about the Cardinals about why they look so good defensively. Terrific. They look great. Klayas Campbell, man. How great. I love watching him play at the top of his game in year 16, I believe. But give it up to Jake Brisket, Jacobe Brassette. 100% the offense looks better with him. I know Kyler Murray’s under contract. I know Kyler Murray is their guy. I know Kyler Murray is the first overall pick from years ago and they want him to work out. And I know he’s potentially the future and they want him to be and all of that stuff, but the eye in the sky doesn’t lie. Nor do my two eyes watching this. And Jacobe Brassette brings a more veteran presence, a calmer presence. And the reason why I’m saying that is in Kyler Murray’s superpower is his ability to escape and to make a two-way threat from the position put the pressure on you as a defense. But sometimes he just goes out the gate and sometimes just looks way too frenetic. Certainly when he’s trying to win a game in the fourth quarter. It’s just that simple. This is just a calmer veteran presence fading back going through progressions. The offense is set up in a certain way. You can if you’re Marvin Harrison senior complain about the scheme. Um but bottom line is the scheme is the scheme and it looks much better and much more efficient and much calmer and much more terrific with this guy than Kyler Murray. It’s just that simple. So of course after the game, even though this was the first win with Brassette, everybody’s seen what they’ve seen over the last few weeks. They they brought it up to to coach Ganon. Will Kyler still be your starting quarterback when he returns? Nothing’s changed on that. That’s how I feel. Enough to earn more opportunities. Yeah, I got nothing to add on that, guys. He just shut it down. Dang. You know, just in the same way that my kids shut it down. Uh why? Just cuz. Just cuz. So, you know what? Yeah, cuz I said so. Cuz I’m dad. Just cuz. Yeah. Shut it down. Simple. Dad, why? Mom, why? Just cuz. We’re the parent. You’re not. I used to get that as a kid. I’d be I think I’d win an argument. My mom would just be like, “Shut up.” Yeah, you done me. You know, it it but it’s inevitable. It’s inevitable. And you know, there’s the iceberg. There’s the tip of the iceberg. The tip of the iceberg. Even Kyler, right? Few weeks ago when they’re talking about their new facilities that are coming in 2028 or whatever, he made some sort of comment like, “I hope I’m around to see it.” You know, he’s there’s something going on. He senses it. Everybody senses it from afar. There could be no smoke. But Brassette runs this offense better. And he has over the last three, four weeks. He just has. And I know it hasn’t shown up in wins, but you could see it. I mean, Michael Wilson’s catching more passes. Trey McBride has been terrific this year. And he was last year as well. Well, I I I mean, this is not a Kyler hate segment. It’s really is just honestly an interesting decision where you’ve got a first overall quarterback, you know, who’s got a statue in front of Oklahoma that they all as a as a an organization went and visited when Ganon took the job. And here we are with Brassette playing much better. Massive trade to talk about coming up. But you know what I mean? I mean, Trey McBride this year, he’s got four receiving touchdowns with Brassette as a starter in three games. Last year, if you remember, he was the king of catching everything, but not of receiving. Not the end zone. Exactly. He’s tied Antonio Gates and Kelsey for the fourth longest streak of games by a tight end with five or more receptions at any point in NFL history. Unbelievable. The first tight end in NFL history to record five or more receptions in each of their first eight games of a season. He broke a tie with Zack Z and Ditka. I mean, the numbers are not lying and the production is not lying. They obviously couldn’t win these games and maybe Kyler could have pulled it out in a way that that that Brassette did not. But Brassette has them poised to win in a way that you haven’t seen consistently enough from Kyler Murray. I don’t think I’m telling any tales out of school. Harrison targeted 10 times. That’s a careerhigh. The most receptions in a career. previous high was six. He had seven last night. He also had an outstanding route on the goal line. That was one of my favorite moments, man. The Monday night crew is so good. They did you see the the reaction of CD Lamb? They had CD Lamb’s reaction on the bench where he was looking up at the Jerry Tron and he was just like, “Oo, yeah.” Bland tried to assume he slipped. See you. I might change Cage’s name to Marvin after last night. Well, I mean, he saved you in the in the Rich Eisen Show guillotine league. Uh, which was a massive sweat between uh you, Chris, TJ, and Jay Cop of Rich Eisen social. That was You both survived. Jake did not. I knew it. The Eagles fan gets guillotine because the Cowboys didn’t come through for me. It really was a chef’s kiss. That’s why I wasn’t worried. But the bottom line is forget our guillotine league. In the reality world of football, Ganon’s going to got a decision to make. I mean, even Buck and Aman were saying there’s a locker room to consider, which means there is just more rumblings out of Arizona again about their first overall drafted quarterback from years ago, who, you know, is going to get back there or not. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. Check us out every single day streaming live on Disney Plus and the ESPN app 12 to 3 Eastern.

  1. Anyone saying Kyler should be benched for Brisset is a dumb azz… Dude, I respect you grandpa but you are making ish up.,… the team runs better with Kyler… you are blind… Kyler hads torn up the Cowbiys 40 nothing… you just to old to remember grandpa

  2. 1.) To answer the question: YES! Brissett should be the Cards starting QB the rest of the way.
2.) The Cardinals should take an honest hard look in the mirror about their QB situation and start to realise that Murray – while undeniably talented and gifted – is NOT that franchise savior as he was advertised.
During his full six seasons in Arizona he was injured in half of them, missing a total of 18 games in that span.
He reached the playoffs once – a first round exit in 2021 against the Rams – and has an overall record of 38-48-1.
What else do you need to see to finally acknowledge that this guy is no Burrow/Mahomes/Allen/Jackson/Herbert type of franchise QB.
They were patient with him, they let him develop, they even held course despite his slew of odd antics and childish behavior
but when do they come to the conclusion that Kyler Murray IS NOT a franchise QB?
The Cards actually have some decent talent on offense and with Murray they are underachieving, year in and year out.

  3. At 7 seasons with a wopping 1 playoff appearance and every season a losing season, Murray NEEDS to be traded or cut, he'll NEVER bring the Cards to the playoffs again, or any further. Cards should finish the season with Brissett, trade Murray, and draft a tall, talented QB out of college next year.

  4. Kyler Murray is still trying to play street football😂. He doesn't want to study film in my opinion Arizona has been winning dispute Murry. He always running out of a clean pocket. Arizona made a big mistake paying him.

  5. Obviously Kyler is dynamic but Jacoby is only aback up who definitely will not throw a interception so that’s what I know in 2025 Jacoby is not gonna win you the super bowl bowl

  6. Kyler Murray is in his seventh season. Anybody with brains knows that he cannot play in the National Football League. On any roster as quarterback. He is too short to play the position which reduces what you can do on offense. Because he cannot see to throw the ball down field. He just throws little dump passes out in the flat. Which isn’t going to win you games.

And then you combine that with his shitty attitude, lack of work ethic, lack of leadership. He is not an NFL quarterback. He might be good as an occasional third down, running back like Darren Sproles used to be for the Chargers and the Saints.

The decision has already been made. Coach Gannon said Kyler will play when he’s ready. But he gave no indication of when that would be. There are rumors here in Arizona that he is going to be put on IR so which would knock him out for at least the next four weeks. I predict unless Jacoby Brissett gets injured, Kyler Murray is done with the Cardinals. And they are done with him. They should never have given him a contract extension when they did because he approved nothing.

  7. Rich, you are 100% correct. It is not a hit on Kyler. Brisett is playing better. This is why the Cards confirmed this today, Brissett is the starting QB against the Seahawks regardless of Murray's health. I loved Murray when he was electrict. But right now, he is not a fit for this offense, this season, with this scheme.

  8. Murray is so badly overrated. Absolutely nothing about him scares me. In my opinion, he is really immature and I'm not sure how well respected he is in that locker room. Brissett dang near beat the Colts in Indy and you could argue he should have had a shot from the 1 yard line after what looked like a penalty in the endzone on 4th down. He is a warrior and a well respected leader. Players respond positively to him. You see it in the way the team plays and you hear it from his teammates. Brissett nearly go the Colts to the playoffs and would have made it had their kicker not cost the team 2 or 3 games that year. Not to mention Frank Reich mismanaging his injury and return from the injury. Prior to him getting hurt in Pittsburgh, the Colts were winning and getting ready to go up another score. They were also about to run off with the division before his untimely injury. He is a really good QB that has often been a victim of bad circumstances. Bad team. Bad coaches. Murray is never going to take the Cardinals anywhere.

  9. Interesting, all sports social media enjoys eating on Murray. Cardinals lost 5 straight games whereby they had leads late into the 4th qtr. Cardinals could/should easily be 5-2, instead of 2-5. Realistically, of those 5 games lost, how many of those games did Murray lose? Do you replace a QB in the NFL with a 5-2 record? 🤔.

Just wondering why none of the analyst or sports media entertainers, have mention cardinals run game that left in the form of Clayton Adams. With Adams, Cowboys have from near last in run offense last year to first in 2025. Last year, Cardinals, with a very mediocre OL got movement in the run game, this year, early, not so much. Lack of run game has prevented cardinals from holding 4th qtr leads.

So now, you replace the QB with a 10 year, career backup? A very good backup, probably the best backup in the league, but he is a 10 yr backup for a reason.

Guys like Rich Eisen get to jerk off all day and not have to do any real work. Everyone in sports social media like to eat off murray at every opportunity.

  10. Gannon is an idiot if he puts Kyler in and lets him fail… he'll lose whatever is left of the fan support for his tenure as coach for our team. Maybe give Kyler a half to prove he's worthy but dont play the dude just cause he's getting paid.

  11. That Harrison route really wasn't that incredible, it really was more of an absolutely terrible error from Bland. How are you not prepared for the simplest route, just a slant? Bland falling off a cliff

  12. Yes Jacoby brissett should be number one… Kyler Murray is by far overrated… Bent overrated since day one!! Is Jacoby brissett one of the top quarterbacks in the league.. no.. but is he better than Kyler Murray… Hell yes!! He is bigger stronger tougher and smarter than Kyler Murray… Only thing Tyler has on Jacoby.. speed.. but we don't need that!! Can't wait for the day Kyler is traded / kicked off the team!! He has nothing but a crybaby and face injuries so he don't get blamed for losses!! Holly really cares about is video games and his money… Undeserved money by the way!!
