  1. I’m pretty sure my dad has a lot of these because I remember collecting them with him when I was a kid. I’m going to have to check with him.

  2. Wondering if anyone else notices that they rarely used any photos of Shanny wearing the red uniform. The reason is because he used the same helmet forever. It faded so bad that it looked like it was a dark pink color. Eventually in his last year or two, someone forced him to wear a new helmet but up until then he had the same bucket since he got here in 95 or 96.

Another tidbit was his goal song was always the Irish Jig. He fucking HATED it and it was always amusing to see his facial expressions when they would play it.

  3. Moreso than having a roster of HOFers, the team had enough universally known nicknames to make a comic book series out of it.

  4. Oh wow, I used to collect those when I was in elementary school. My dad would buy the paper for me after work so I could hang the posters in my room. I ended up having so many of them that I managed to cover half of my wall with them.

  5. So awesome. I still have a binder full of these. My dad and grandpa would save them for me every week as a kid. One day I’ll put them in frames.

  6. On top of perhaps being the most stacked roster ever on paper, that team had so many players with cool nicknames

    Yzerman – The Captain

    Lidstrom – The Perfect Human

    Hasek – Dominator

    Robataille – Lucky Luc

    Hull – Golden Brett

    Datsyuk – Magic Man

    Larionov – Professor

How many teams can say they had 7 guys with fairly recognizable nicknames outside their own team (and that’s excluding Shanny, because imo every team has a million guys whose nicknames are their last name with an -er or -y at the end)

  7. Nike gloves and an TPS stick. 15 year old me on first trip outside of Europe and without mom and dad. The hockey stores in US was another world. Bought both TPS sticks and Eagle gloves.

And damn you Amanda, i still think about you some times.

  8. Had these on my walls/door in high school (‘02 grad). Hoping they’re still around somewhere. Great memories unlocked!

  9. Man, what could’ve been with Fischer.

Instead, we had to watch Ericsson all those painful years.

  10. This takes me back. The 2002 season was when I first got into the Red Wings and into playing hockey myself. Hasek was my favorite player back then. I never quite became the next Hasek like I imagined, but I did manage to win a couple of bantam tournaments up in Midland, which is pretty close to the same as winning a Stanley Cup!
