[Goldman] Chiefs HC Andy Reid says he wants to see LT Josh Simmons practice before making any decisions: “He’ll jump in and see what he can do and mix it up out there…I just want to see him back in there…I’m glad he’s back and can get going.” “I’m sure he’s going to be OK, but let’s see”

We are definitely going to need him going against this D Line
Hard to imagine him looking bad enough to sit on the bench given the shape the line was in last Sunday.
Reads to me like a lot of gamesmanship in respect to if he is going to suit up or not. Is there a world where he doesn’t suit up Sunday?
man I am licking my chops hoping that kid starts opposite bonito
That makes sense. He was dealing with something for 5 weeks. He’ll probably be fine, but there’s no advantage in declaring him the starter today.
Assuming he’s all good emotionally and mentally and has been working out (reports say he has) while gone he should play. Props to Moore for doing a pretty good job filling in but Simmons is better. Simmons athleticism is just different and it makes him a better pass blocker that will only continue to improve. Welcome back kid.
To be fair I don’t think I’ve ever heard Andy say “oh yeah this guy is starting” about anyone.
Makes sense. A month away there’s no guarantee he is fully ready to start, even if he has been working out individually. He’s gotta have the plays/calls down, gotta get back in the swing with chemistry on the line, etc.
I thought he was back in the building the day after the loss to the Bills? So the x’s and o’s shouldn’t be a problem, but also, it’s Wednesday. Has he not been doing anything yet?
Vague! Keep the Donkeys guessing. But still keeps fans on our toes in suspense.
Just a formality, because we all know he’s the best option.
This sub got really weird with the whole Jaylen Moore is good nonsense. I know we went 3-1 with Moore, but it was plain as day that Moore is not a starting caliber Left Tackle. Mahomes was either leaving the pocket or getting the ball out in 2 seconds because Moore cannot hold up in pass protection. Simmons is the far better player.
If this guy took a month off to care for his personal reasons, I doubt training hard was at the front of his mind. We will see where he is at. If he does play I doubt it’s for full reps. Even if he kept in physical shape, in game condition is 100% different and usually takes playing in games / scrimmage to get back into that shape.
It’s the Show Me state after all.
I miss having a Tony Richardson.
