Please subscribe and hit the like button below. Super chat, baby. Cut the line. The Jake Asmin show starts right now. Here we go here on a game day eve. That’s right. It’s Wednesday. Jets play tomorrow night in Foxboro. We are presented by FanDuel Sportsbook. And folks, the latest line for the Jets and the Pats as the New York Jets now a 12 and a half point underdog. So this opened at 9 and a half. It was quickly bet up to 10, 11, 12, and now at FanDuel it is 12 1/2. And let’s be real, wouldn’t surprise me if by the time we get to kickoff tomorrow night, this line moves to 13, if not 13 and a half. So no one is going to give the Jets a chance. So maybe, just maybe, the Jets could surprise all of us. With that, we say hello to our guy Nick Shine, who joins the program in his weekly Wednesday spot. Nick, happy game day eve to you. That’s it, man. Looking forward to it. I hate this team with a passion. I hate their fan base. I want nothing. You gave me a free week vacation, Jake, in Boston. I would decline it. That’s how much I despise the region. I wouldn’t even go. I I want this win more than any win year after year. for years. I said when it was, you know, horrible for the last 15 years, if we went two and 14 in those two wins are against the Patriots, I would consider it a successful season, beating Brady twice. But here we are. I’ll tell you what, no one’s going to give the Jets a chance. If they could just be competitive in this game, I think that would be a win for Aaron Glenn and his coaching staff. We’ll talk more about that as we move along. If you’re watching live right now, make sure that you are subscribed to the channel. Click the thumbs up button. that is the like button and we will be live immediately after Jets Patriots tomorrow night for our comprehensive postgame show into the wee hours of the morning. With that said, we start with some comments made yesterday by Aaron Glenn. In his opening statement, he refused to talk about injuries. And then in the follow-up questions, he refused to talk about injuries, including the report from ESPN Jets reporter Rich Samini that Garrett Wilson is expected to be out 3 to four weeks. Here was the full sequence yesterday. We’ll play it and then react. This was Aaron Glenn at the podium. I’m going to um to pass on talking about injuries. Um since Rich, he’s not here has all the answers. So you guys can get all the injuries from uh from Rich. Is uh Last one. Is is Garrett a a candidate for IR or is that not something you want to ask Rich? I’m asking you. Well, I’m telling you to ask Rich. Well, you better call. No disrespect to you or Rich, but like we want to hear from you. you know, like you guys have been hearing you guys have been hearing it from me, but now since we’re just reporting stuff, you know, that I haven’t said, then maybe you should ask him. So, here we go. Glenn verse the media. It’s a saga that seemingly keeps happening every single week. He’s not happy that Rich had the report that came out that Wilson is expected to be out three to four games. Glenn likes to be the one to share injury status. And look, I just think this is a battle Aaron Glenn can’t win. Rich has been on the Jet Speed for 40 years. Obviously, if what Rich was reporting was not true, he would have came out there Aaron Glenn and said so. So, Rich is right. Glenn’s not happy about that. And I just don’t think you could try and control the media in New York. This also was the day after Glenn went up there after the win over the Browns in the following Monday morning presser and he tried to preempt questions being asked who his quarterback was going to be this week. I just think he should take a different approach. If he doesn’t want to share things, he doesn’t have to. That’s his right. But I think the combiveness I just think these are fights he doesn’t need to pick. I don’t think the media has been out to get him so far. I think they’ve been pretty fair with him. Especially the ones that are on the beat every day. So fans might love this because it’s oh it’s yeah it’s Aaron Glenn firing back and I guess maybe it plays a little better when you’ve won two games in a row. But man, if he keeps doing this and they get killed tomorrow night and then you have the Ravens, this could get ugly. I just I think this is a fight that Aaron Glenn doesn’t need to to have at this point in his tenure. But I mean seemingly it’s not going to change. So I just hope he wins otherwise it’s going to get ugly. Yeah, it’s a complete unnecessary drama in my opinion. There’s no reason for it. There’s no benefit from it. It’s It’s pointless. Like just go up there. Like if you ask me, “Hey, what’s going on with the injuries?” Or, “Who’s gonna be quarterback this week, Nick?” And I’m the coach. I’m going to sit there. I’m going to say, “Hey, we’re going to review it as a staff. We’re going to see how practice goes this week and we’re going to come to the best decision for our team later in the week. We’ll let you know when we know.” Simple. It doesn’t have to be combative. It doesn’t have to be like you’re not painted into a corner. You don’t have to fight your way out. There’s no reason for the you don’t have the clout as a head coach to be this disgruntled and to be this much on the attack against the media. If anything, why don’t you go get your room buttoned up that the leaks aren’t coming out like this. That that would probably be where I would direct my aggression and anger, right? Someone leaked the story to Simini before Glenn was ready to speak about it. And when we had the sauce trade last week, there was no leaks. Muji got his team in order. There was no leaks coming out about that trade, right? It it hit us out of nowhere. So, why don’t you focus on getting your team in order so that these leaks don’t happen? Well, the thing is, too, I don’t even know if the leak came from the Jets. A lot of times, these things come out through the players agent, someone in their entourage, players manager, could be a player on a different team that has a relationship with Garrett Wilson. Like the idea that it’s even coming from someone inside the Jets building, we don’t know. And the bottom line is this. It’s not that big of a deal. Like if if you don’t want to say anything about Garrett Wilson, Aaron Glenn could have been up there and taken the approach saying, “Look, Garrett’s status is week to week. We don’t believe he he’s going to be out for the year. We just think right now we don’t know how long he’s going to be out, so we’ll say it’s week to week. He’s getting the best treatment. We want him back as soon as he’s healthy.” like you just there’s just a way to word it where you’re not being combative for no reason. And I just think he’s looking at the media like they’re the enemy. And I get it. We live in a time where it’s oh the media is bad. But this is not that. Like we could separate, you know, the media in politics, if you will, from like the Jets reporters who are just trying to do their jobs. And the reason why they ask these questions is because if they just assume, then that leads to inaccuracies. So, they’re just trying to do their job and get information because fans fans want the answers to these questions. And then when the reporters are trying to do their jobs getting you the answers to the questions, you like that the head coach is combative and trying to like dunk on the guy and embarrass the guy. I just I I just think it’s completely unnecessary. Now, in the, you know, big picture, does it matter? No. If they win, but tell you what, they get off to a bad start next year. The media is going to be out for blood at that point. if they think Aaron Glenn’s on the hot seat and they have a chance to, you know, deliver the kill shot, they know Woody Johnson pays close attention to fan perception and media perception. So like the benefit of the doubt, Aaron Glenn’s not going to get it if he doesn’t win. You know, like if he wins, you can do whatever you want. Look at Bichc. But the second Belich started to lose, then the knives were out to stab him. Like that’s that’s kind of how this goes. So I just think it’s a risky proposition the head coach of the Jets has taken. Yeah, you can deliver a point and I use this a lot. You can make a point with humor, but then get to the point, right? Like the constant like avoiding the questions and then doubling down on it with the media is pointless. You can make your joke and be like, “Oh, just ask Rich. He’s got all the answers.” And then when the follow-up question comes, get to the damn point, right? Like, there’s no reason to keep it going. You made your little dick at Simeini, which you’ve done since you’ve been hired. So, do your dig and then get back to business, man. It just feels like this is not going to stop anytime soon. And God, I hope they don’t get killed uh tomorrow night. What do you think that uh press conference is going to be like after the game if he tries to pull this or you know, remember another example of like this similar this similar type of thing with Glenn after the London game when Brian Costello of the New York Post asked a totally reasonable question. Hey, you know, is Justin Fields definitely going to be your quarterback for the Panther game? And Glenn’s like, “What type of question is that?” And then we get to the Panther game that you and I are sitting next to each other at. And at halftime, guess what happens? He benches Justin Fields and goes to Tyrod Taylor two quarters after. He thought it was such a ridiculous question to be asked about Justin Fields starting status in the first place. I just think it’s I it’s it’s not good. Like when does this end well for anyone that’s tried this act, right? Like the last guy I think that tried this was Matt Patricia in Detroit and he was a disaster. He got fired. He never won. It never turned around. His press conferences were so combative towards the end. It was like uncomfortable to watch. Like to me, we’re at a point now where it’s already like a major turnoff with the teams two and seven. What happens if this ends up getting a lot uglier from here when you start playing really good teams these next couple weeks? Yeah. And it’s a shame because we’ve seen the locker room videos from the last two victories. The team has bought into him. The team is celebrating him. The team, from what we see, is all in. Why be divisive in other areas? If you have your team buying in, why not try to get everyone to buy in? Why? Why attack the media? Why make it a drama when you don’t need to? It should all be about turning the ship. It should all be, you know, positive. Even when you’re losing, you’re trying to find ways to turn the ship. Focus on that, man. Just give us the information without drama in in the press conference. It’s not a reality TV show. It’s not Dancing with the Stars. There’s no reason to have these little side stories. The the story is the team. Stop making the story about you, especially coming off of two wins. Here’s the thing, too, right? People are like, “Oh, why is it a big deal?” Well, it’s a big deal because it becomes a national story for no reason. And an example of this is yesterday like the 6 p.m. Sports Center and one of their early blocks is leading their show covering this and talking about it and it’s bringing just bad attention on the Jets. I also want to show this. If you just type in like Aaron Glenn for example, right? Look at what the top stories are and it’s from a bunch of outlets that don’t normally cover the Jets. Like it’s all about uh Glenn and this quarterback situation and him bristling over the report. You know, NBC’s covering it, Yahoo, like you go down here, obviously you have the local stuff like NJ.com, but then you get like the national stuff covering it too, like awful announcing, Nessen, Heavy, San Francisco Gate, like they don’t cover the Jets. Like it just it it makes it a national story when like the two and seven Jets should not be a national story. And Glenn is a guy who said he wants to move in silence. He wants to keep the outside noise on the outside, but in this attempt to do that, I think it’s having the reverse impact, if that makes sense. It really is. It’s It’s completely unnecessary. And and like you said earlier, you got to have clout to that. Bellich got to the point where he could do that, right? When you can show ring after ring after ring, you could treat the media however you want because the results are there on the field. When you’re two and seven, just find a PR way to give answers, man. Even if you want to the one of my good friends always used to say that you say hello, hello, goodbye. Like, you don’t have to let people know you don’t like them. You don’t have to be rude to people. You can just be short, brief with them, wish them well, move on. Like, Glenn needs to adapt that. Like, just answer the questions. Be cordial. Get out of there, man. Like, we know you don’t want to do the 10 minutes with the media. Just get through it, man. Yeah, look, it’s a rough watch. It’s cringeworthy. It’s it’s unprofessional. Like, you’re you’re the head coach of I don’t know if you guys are aware of this, but our owner is very in tune with what happens on social media and the fan feedback need more proof. Fireman Ed got taken off the video board last year for the Seattle game in the rest of the season after comments on this show. So, the owner of the Jets is in tune with what people are saying on social media. And if the feedback is going to be Glenn’s over his head, Glenn can’t handle the media. What he’s going to know what the fan base feels and he’s going to know what the word on the street is because he’s got people who do that for him. H I just hope I just hope that this doesn’t, you know, spiral, you know? Just win games. Win games. Just win games. We win. Who cares what what this guy says if we’re winning? Ladies and gentlemen, hit the like button if you’re tuned in. We’re talking with Nick Shine in his weekly spot on the show. Give us your thoughts on the comments. Do you like the approach Glenn takes with the media? Does it bother you? Do you care? Give us your take. We’ll read some of your comments. I want to shout out Black Gypsy, who was the first member of the community to enter the raffle. Now, you might be saying, Jake, you haven’t said what the raffle prize is. Well, get ready. in honor of Jets Patriots. How about a signed Bart Scott helmet? Can’t wait. That’s right. Bart Scott signed Jets mini helmet is the prize at the end of the stream today. So, gift the membership like Black Chipsy did to qualify or send in a $10 super chat or higher to enter. If you don’t win, here are the new three weekly prizes in the raffle for next week. If you want to enter, you know how. Rick Kent knows how. He just gifted the community five channel memberships. Rick Kent, let’s freaking go. [Applause] If you hear your name, you’re a channel member. Thanks to Rick Mof, Jet Fans Rule, Smoke Champ, Eli, Tattown, Jet, they all just received a channel membership. Thank you to Rick for always supporting the show. Comments, questions, super chats, they cut the line. Super chat from Fire Aaron Glenn, who says, “Giants fire Dable. I bet they’ll turn them around next year with Dartan year two, just like the Bears with Caleb or the Pats with May.” Look, it’s entirely possible if they get the coaching hire right, they could turn it around. So much of it is coaching and quarterback. And I think Dart is going to be at least a good quarterback in this league from what we’ve seen. I worry about his durability, just the way he plays and his size. I mean, he’s been checked out for a concussion five times and he finally has one and he’s been ruled out already for next week. But when you look at like what it takes to turn your team around, it starts with the coach and the quarterback. That’s why I would like to see Aaron Glenn continue to improve because I don’t think he’s going anywhere. I think the Jets are going to try and get their long-term answer at quarterback this off seasonason, but they could actually pick the right quarterback as the Jets did previously, but Sam Darnold and because they failed him with the coach and the talent. We didn’t know for years. And I think a big thing for the Jets is do we have a coach and can we evaluate Glenn and see real improvement over these final now eight games. It’s one thing to win against the Bengals and the Browns, but now you’re playing an 8-2 team. that’s won seven in a row. Like, show us something. You don’t even need to win. But right now, we talked about it at the start, Nick. They’re 12 and a half point underdogs. Can you be competitive? Can you Can you surprise us? Can you make this a game where in the fourth quarter you actually have a chance? Like that. That to me would show me something about this coaching staff in a short week to give this Jets fan base something to hold on to that feels like, hey, we don’t have the talent right now. We don’t have the quarterback, but you know, we might have the right coaching staff to get us where we want to go eventually. Yeah. I’m just to rewind a little bit with Dable. Dable, I I like his schemes, but he just showed that maybe decision- making, clock management is not his forte. When you lose four games up by 10 with three minutes to go, that’s that’s unheard of. That’s even John Stewart was making fun of it during the show on uh Monday about how bad the Giants have been with Dable at the helm. So, you know, they got the young quarterback. You got to make that move. You can’t be running your team organization into the ground like Dable was doing. Horrible, horrible mismanagement. But when you look at the Jets and you look going forward, I I I do think Glenn, as long as this season doesn’t turn into a complete mitigated disaster and and there’s some improvement, we know we’ve had the pissport quarterback play with Fields, you give him a chance to to bring the quarterback in in my opinion. So I I like Muji. I like what he did with this draft and the acquisitions that he’s made and and I don’t want to lose Muji, but right now Glenn, it’s 50/50. The locker room loves you. You’re fighting with the media. The fans are torn. There’s a huge line down the middle. You’re either way to one side that you love Glenn or your way to the other side that you hate Glenn. There there’s everyone has a firm stance on this. And I think winning cures all. You start getting some wins. you go out there tomorrow and you beat the Patriots or even like you said, you compete with them on national television where it’s not another jet national embarrassment. We can build upon that, right? Like there there’s games down the end that we can get some wins. And the whole thing is get this offense going. Get Justin Fields just get the ball out of his hands. Design ways. If you’re Aaron Glenn, you walk into the offensive room and you say, “I want the ball out of his hands quick. I want the pocket moved. I want the ball to the perimeter. I don’t want him sitting the pocket. I don’t want him holding it. I don’t want him in shotgun with five guys wide, him trying to breed the defense because he doesn’t do it well. Find things that he does well and let’s build the game plan around that. So Glenn, just take control of your team. Like are do you have any confidence Jake when you see Fields in shotgun and they motion the running back out and it’s spread? Do you have any confidence that he’s going to make the right read and throw it to the right guy or even throw the ball at all? I have zero confidence with Justin Fields and I think Tyrod Taylor should be the one starting in this game tomorrow night and I think it will be a fascinating test for Glenn assuming it is Fields. If Fields looks terrible, the leash better be short especially if this game is winnable at halftime. Like if you’re down you know 146 at halftime, right? Or 143, right? You’re still like kind of hanging around and you’re getting the ball to start the second half. go to Justin or go to Tyrod Taylor and bench Justin Field to that point. Like you’re somehow in the game. Maybe special teams gives you another boost. Maybe the defense finally forces an interception to give your offense a short field. Like kind of like the game script for the London game where like that was the perfect setup to have a chance to beat a a team that’s now eight and two, right? Like you got a safety in that game. You got a huge kickoff from Ka in that game. You actually forced a turnover with the Brownley forced fumble. Like to me, that type of script, if it somehow happens tomorrow night and you’re in the game, Glenn better have learned from previous mistakes and go to Tyrod and give your team the best chance to actually win if Fields just doesn’t have it, which in eight starts, half of them, Justin Fields, has looked like an unplayable quarterback where he’s had under 60 yards passing. So, that to me is the test for Glenn. If you’re going to start Fields, you better be ready to make that change if you have a chance to win the game or even if you don’t have a chance to win the game for the sake of your locker room and even just evaluating your offensive players. How can you do that with a quarterback that can’t, to quote the owner, complete a pass? It’s amazing that as bad as Sunday was, it’s not even Field’s bottom three games of the year. Oh Lord, help us. Yeah, man. I am very concerned about Aaron Glenn’s stubbornness that he won’t want to pull fields. Do you know what I’m saying? Like he’ll want to try to prove that he can get it done and and the game can get out of hand because he’s he doesn’t have that quick trigger finger. So, I’m hoping that Bree Hall can mask a lot of his deficiencies tomorrow and you put the game on Bree’s back and his legs and and let him do things. But let’s be real, the Patriots are going to game plan to eliminate Bree that they’re going to say, “Put the ball on Field’s hands.” That’s what we want. You’re going to see eight, probably nine in the box. Without Garrett Wilson, who scares you downfield. So, you’re going to see a lot of defenders up near the line of scrimmage. You’re going to see a lot of guys in the box. You’re going to see a lot of run blitzes. You’re gonna probably see the game plan that the Bills laid out against us where they had their defensive line, crashing in, closing up all the gaps, and they were blitzing corners and linebackers off the edge. So, if we tried to kick the run game out, they were there to tie it up. So, if if you can’t attack downfield and you can’t throw the ball and you can’t keep the defense honest and you can’t get them backing up at all, it’s very easy to play defense in the NFL when you’re continuously coming downhill and there’s no threat of the ball going over your head. So, it’s the game plan is very, very important. And if he can’t execute it, you got to pull him. You you got to know, right? Like a starting pitcher in a playoff game, you got to know he doesn’t have it today. We’re going to go on to someone else. And we can maybe readress and reassess with 10 days what we’re going to do for Baltimore. But in this moment, if you don’t have it, you’re the backup. A and let’s be real, if he doesn’t have it and you bench him again, that’s it for Fields this year. Play Tyrod. get a real evaluation of your offense. And if Tyrod were to get hurt, which guess what? We’ve seen this unfortunately uh in his time uh even with the Jets and we’ve seen him in his time with every other team the last seven, eight years, he gets hurt. And if he gets hurt at that point, let’s see what Brady Cook can do. Why not? Let’s let’s evaluate Brady Cook. And if he’s terrible and we’re losing, I’d rather lose with Brady Cook and get a better draft pick at that point than waste our time with Justin Fields. Yeah. We have a lot of important decisions to make. Like we need a true litmus test of what Mitchell is, what Mechie is, what Smith can be. And if you have a quarterback who’s not throwing the ball, we’re not going to get that read. And we need to know, is Mitchell a potential number two receiver going forward? He’s a second round pick. Last year, it is a lot of people believe he’s a true X. You got to throw the damn ball to know what Mitchell can be. We need to know, do we need to go address wide receiver early in the draft? Is this someone that they can build with and build upon and and pair him with Garrett Wilson going forward to be a nice tandem? So, you can’t do that if your quarterback’s holding the ball for 4 seconds, taking sacks and and looking lost. He to me, he plays like a guy playing street ball. When you play street ball, very rarely are you setting routes, right? You read, you react, you throw when the guy cuts. In the NFL, windows close quick. You have to throw with the anticipation before the guy cuts. So, the ball’s there when he comes out of the break. And Fields just doesn’t have that timing. He looks as if he’s surprised by the routes, whether he’s not reading the same thing as the receivers on the option routes or he just doesn’t know what to do. But make him RB2. Who cares? Make him RB3. Let let him run his gadget plays and and that’s it. Just don’t put the ball in his hands. It’s sad we’re at that point, but I mean, that’s where we’re at, Derek. writes in, “Forget being competitive tomorrow. I want to win. Patriots are nothing special.” Derek, with all due respect, who are you as a Jet fan to tell us that the Patriots are nothing special? Seriously, they’re nothing special. They’ve won seven straight games. They just beat the Bucks. Drake May right now is currently the betting favorite to win the MVP award. He’s in the top three in the NFL in completion percentage, passing touchdowns, passing yards. He’s got five games this season with a 75% completion rate and at least two touchdown passes. The New York Jets are two and seven. Two and seven. So, how are you supposed to sit here and try and tell us that you want a win in the patch or nothing special? Be a monster upset. Be the biggest upset of the season from a point spread to uh perspective. 12 and a half points. I want the Jets to be in the game. That will show me something. I I’m not going to be unreasonable and demand a win. Like, I would love a win just like I’d love a million dollars to show up in my banking account randomly. But we got to be realistic, man. The Patriots are really, really good. They’re well coached. It’s a short week in their building. And the Jets don’t have their best offensive player in Garrett Wilson. No sauce gardener. No Quinnon Williams. Come on, man. That’s that’s crazy. You can’t expect a win tomorrow. I’ll give you an extra reason to root for it though, Jake. Everyone likes to see Allen suffer. Allen offered to gift 50 memberships on my channel if the Jets cover the spread and then he doubled down and we’ll gift another 50 if the Jets outright win the game. So, if you want to see Allan suffer, ladies and gentlemen, and you were on the fence about maybe, oh, let’s tank, there’s all the extra motivation you need is is watching Allen have to uh dish out a hundred memberships, man. That would be great. There you go. That’ll be great. I’ll bring you on for that moment, Jake. You You have to be there for Allen Frank. Absolutely. Well, here’s the thing, right? Do I think the Jets win tomorrow? No. Do I think they cover tomorrow? I don’t. But here’s the thing. the Jets could be in a spot where they’re not covering the whole way and then as we’ve seen in several games this year, the garbage time production for the Jets has been pretty good in those spots. So, they could back door cover and they had been blown out the whole game, but because they scored a couple garbage points late, you actually win the bet. That’s the only risk I could see with a spread this high that could get to 13 by the time we get to kickoff, if not 13 and a half. This has bad beat written all over it if you’re taking the Patriots. It could. It could like when it when the number gets this high, you’re set up for the back door cover. Yeah. Let’s just be competitive, right? Like I don’t think realistically a lot of people expect to win, but I think if we play a game that if we play our best game, we might be able to be in this game late. You know, the defense has to step up. You know, we got to I I expect to see some more bigbodied fronts with Smith, Briggs, Phillips out there together with maybe JJ and Clemens as the edges and uh and try to stop Henderson who looks like he’s gonna be the workhorse now for them. He he had a big game the other day. I know Vrabel said we’re going to give him a big load this week. Uh pause and you you got to have you got to load up that front and you got to be able to stop the run and you got to be able to contain May too who can get out. He came in last year against us and and scored a touchdown up in New England with those legs. So put them in long situations. Allow Will McDonald and Germaine maybe to tee off in in the passing attack. Get to the quarterback. I don’t know. I’m I’m pulling a strings here, but you know, Darren Glenn, Wilks, Angstran, find a way to coach a hell of a game, man. Just don’t don’t do what the Jets have done so many times on national television against the Patriots and go out there and just lay an egg. Oh, man. It’s tough. It’s It’s tough to picture them winning the game. Uh, for what it’s worth, the Jets are 2 and6 in their last 18 meetings against the Patriots. However, most of that was with Tom Brady and Bill Bich. The Jets last year did go one and one against the Pats. They won in the home opener. They were two- one. That was also the last time the Jets had won consecutive games. They beat Tennessee in week two and then New England in week three on a short week and then all downhill after that, starting with the Broncos game at home. But they were one-on-one against New England last year. Drake May actually made his debut against the Jets in that home opener. When the Jets were up big in the fourth, they put him in for a drive at the end. So, we will see. Town Jet has gifted a membership to the community. So, he is in the raffle for one. If you tuned in late, we have in honor of Jets Patriots a Bart Scott helmet autographed by the man himself up for grabs at the end of the show. And if you missed yesterday’s weekly raffle, we have a new set of prizes. The following three items are a part of it. Signed Derel Rivas helmet, signed Leaden and Tomlinson jersey, and a signed CJ Mosley helmet are the top three items in our raffle. Before we get to some calls, talk more about the state of the Jets, even get Nick’s thoughts on the quarterback debate with the draft, wait till 27, trade up, veteran, all that and more. Let’s talk about our sponsor today and that is Cornbread Hemp. Ladies and gentlemen, cornbread is gonna help you if you’re a Jet fan. Let me explain. Life, it gets hectic. Sports, work, travel, the constant roller coaster that is being a fan of the New York Jets. So, when it’s time to unwind at night, you know what I do? I use a little corn, bread, hemp, their THC gummies, the CBD gummies. They got it all. They become part of my routine. For me, it helps me slow down, breathe a little, deal with the stress of awful comments from the various people you see in the comment section. I won’t name any names, but you know exactly who you are. It’s a great product. These guys only use flour of the hemp plant, not the stems or seeds, which makes the gummies actually taste better, feel smoother. They are USDA organic and third-party lab tested, so you know exactly what it is you’re getting. And I’ll tell you what, you can see for yourself. Go to the website right now. promo code asmin is gonna get you 30% off, but you’ll see if you just click the link in the description for the show. Let’s bring Nick Shine back on the program here. We’re going to get into your calls coming up. Let’s see what you guys are thinking. AP says, “Didn’t we have the opportunity to draft May?” No, the Jets did not. Drake May was the third overall pick in the draft. The Jets were not picking till 10 that year. the Giants tried to trade up and get Drake May and New England said no. Which kind of segus the point I want to make with the debate for 2027. Many people are saying, “Hey, you have three first round picks. You could just wait and get your quarterback, then build the roster in the off season if you’re not in position to get a guy I don’t want to trade up.” And to that I say, well, look at the Giants. They were picking six in that draft a couple years ago. They wanted to move up the two. Washington laughed and said, “We’re not going to help a division opponent.” Then they called New England and New England’s like, “No, we’re not moving out of three. We need a quarterback. We believe in Drake May. We’re going to take him.” So the risk of waiting till 2027 is what if the teams in front of you don’t want to move out of their picks? And the other risk is what if this quarterback class that we always anoint as the best the following year doesn’t actually pan out? Then what? We’ve seen this how many times? Every year. Oh, next year’s class is going to be great. We said that about this year’s class. And if you look at the top guys we’re discussing, it’s not Garrett Nusmeer or Lenora Sers or even Arch Manning who’s not even going to come out in the first place. We’re talking about Fernando Mendoza. We’re talking about Tai Simpson. We’re talking about Dante Moore. None of these guys were thought to be consensus first round guys a year ago. Maybe Moore was the only one. Maybe. But the Heisman favorites Mendoza. Tai Simpson’s a guy who I think a lot of draft experts have as their QB1. I just think there’s such a risk to wait till 2027. If you’re in position to get a quarterback this year, I think you got to do it. Yeah. Clubnick was another guy too from Clemson that people were saying would be a top pick and and he’s been very disappointing this year. This is why guys like Moore and Simpson should declare and go out because you’re seeing this year how many college quarterbacks have fallen off or been disappointed and didn’t have what people thought they would have as a uh for a season. you draft a quarterback, whether you have to trade up, like, let’s be realistic. The Jets aren’t going to take five first round players. In my opinion, they’re going to use probably some of these assets to move up. Whether they move up from the Colts pick to go get another guy to team with the quarterback, whether they have to move up a couple spots to get the quarterback, the Jets are not going to use all of these picks on first round guys. They’re not going to have eight picks in the first two rounds. They’re going to use these assets to go get their guys, whether it’s the quarterback, whether it’s the wide receiver, the team with the quarterback. Once we get them, they’re going to maneuver. They’re going to be major players in the draft. I highly doubt we see a John Idzik 12 where they just sit and pick. Idi never moved in that pick of that draft to 12, and he should have because it was a goddamn disaster. But I I see this as giving them everything they need to do to maneuver to get their guys. So, you absolutely take the quarterback this year. If you have to move up a couple spots, so be it. If you have to move up to number one because you fall that in love with a player, so be it. You have these assets so you can maneuver and you can make the attempt to make the Jets great. Like, that’s the whole purpose of doing this is we need the assets. We have the money. We have 117 million available this year. We have 207 million available the year after. The Jets have been had draft picks throughout time. Very rarely have we had money, but when we do, we spend it poorly. It’s aligned where we have money and draft picks. So, this is a very, very This is the biggest opportunity the Jets franchise has ever had, Jake, to get the team right now. Spend wisely in free agency. Hit on your picks, and if you got to give up a pick or two to go up and get what you deem as your quarterback, you do it. and you don’t hesitate at all. If you declare Mendoza, Simpson, whoever it may be, and I’m I’m good with whoever the Jets choose, I will obviously become a big fan of. I don’t care that I’m a Georgia guy. If it happens to be the Alabama quarterback, the second his name is said, I am one of the biggest Simpson fans in the world because you’re now a Jet. Just get it right. That that’s all that matters to me. Just get it right. And they’re going to roll the dice. You don’t wait because of the fact that the quarterback players spin. so poor this year that if you put that product out on the field for another season, you’re all gone. You won’t be here making the pick in 27. So, you have to use the currency of hope, as Hans said the other day, right? The draft picks are the currency of hope. You got to cash that hope in this year. You got to get the quarterback and you got to get this fan base excited and you got to find a way to sell seats, too. So, I don’t think there’s any way Woody and them would say, “Let’s wait another year because, you know, the stadium’s packed. We’re good.” Well, I think a big part of it, too, is if you have to trade up, no one is saying or suggesting you got to use all your capital to move up because let’s be real. I know there’s some optimistic Jet fans in the chat who think after two wins over bad teams, the Jets are now going to rattle off a bunch of wins here and, you know, finish nine and eight or 10 and seven. But in all likelihood, this team’s finishing with four wins, right? If I’m being fair, maybe five. So, you’re going to be picking around the top five, top six in that range. I don’t think it’s going to cost you as much as some have projected it would to move up, right? Cuz let’s say you’re in a spot where you’re looking to wheel and deal and make a trade. Well, some of the teams you’d be looking to wheel and deal with already have their quarterbacks in place. They’d love just to get some extra resources to add to their team. The Giants aren’t drafting a QB. Tennessee is not drafting a QB. Those are just two teams right there. I I think it’s interesting if Shuck plays really well down the stretch for the Saints, would they feel like, hey, we have our guy and then maybe they wouldn’t take a quarterback. So, I think this ends up with the Jets being able to get their guy no matter what. maybe they don’t have to move up, which would be ideal, but in the in the case they do have to move up, I think the Jets are are going to be comfortable trading away, let’s say, one of their twos this year and maybe a day two pick the following year to go up from, let’s say, five to three to get one of the quarterbacks. I just don’t think it’s going to be like this first round pick galore it’s going to take. These aren’t the quarterbacks you would do that for. I don’t see it. I I would if I’m say for example now we’re going from five and Tennessee is the team that we want to lose out. Tennessee drafted their quarterback. That’s the team that you want with the number one pick. If you need to jump, that’s a team that would be sellers, right? So say we’re six and we have to go to one. You give number six. I would give our number two this year and I would give one of the three ones next year. Now, how you structure that to which one it is, if it’s the highest one, whatever it is, I’m okay with that. You give two ones, you give a two, and probably a three next year with it. And that should get you from six to one. Now, if there’s a bidding war, that’s going to up it. But if the Jets declare that they have their guy, and we can’t miss out on this guy, they have all these assets. They might have to overpay, but who cares? If you get it right, no one will give a damn about a second or third round pick. you’re giving up at least this year’s one and probably a one next year, but get it right and we’re not going to give a damn about those picks. So Spencer Green loves to take me out of context. He goes, “Now Jake’s telling us how good special teams is. Three weeks ago they were a disgrace and Glennon company didn’t have a clue. Isaiah Williams was terrible. The only thing he got right was I was extremely critical, as I’m sure you were, Spencer, unless you’re just a Jet Homer who just they could do no wrong.” Who wasn’t critical of Isaiah Williams? He was terrible. They cut him. They resigned back to the practice squad. He’s been great, but I haven’t been ripping the special teams. If anything, I have lauded how good McNamera and Faulk have been all year. I’ve lauded how good Banjo has done. So, no, you’re wrong. They deserve credit for the special teams. We’ve highlighted that. So, once again, Spencer, you hear whatever you want to hear, but you’re wrong. I don’t I like I don’t know how else to say it other than you’re you’re absolutely wrong. Isaiah Williams was terrible. And to give him all the credit in the world, he’s been great. Now, good for him. We complimented him after the Bengals game when he was awesome and he won AFC special teams player of the week. So, uh, I’m thrilled. I’m wrong. See, that’s what you don’t seem to understand. Like, if the Jets win, I’m happy. I’m a Jet fan. It’s like, we have people who just don’t seem to understand that you’re allowed to be critical of your team and you don’t need to be a blind shill for them. Like, the Jets are two and seven. They have not made the playoffs in 15 years. They have not had a winning record in a decade. Sorry if I’m not just going to do the blind optimism that it’s going to work out if I don’t feel it. I got to see it. And I will give credit when it’s deserved like to a guy like Chris Banjo who’s done a great job with his unit. They’ve had issues with, you know, the personnel out there, but I don’t know if that’s necessarily Banjo or if it’s all on Glenn as the head coach, the final decision maker. Like Xavier Gibson shouldn’t have been on the team and that cost him a win. You could argue in week one. But as far as the kicking game, coverage on punts and kicks, the Jets ability to pin teams back, McNamera, I’ve been lauding him all year. How about the fact McNamera set up the safety in the London game by pinning uh Denver deep in their own territory in the first place. So, you’re wrong, man. We give credit when it’s earned, when it’s deserved. We don’t just blindly, you know, shill for the organization just because I happen to be a diehard fan of the Jets. Yeah. And three weeks ago, our return game was [ __ ] We had Gibson fumble in the opener that cost us the game against the Steelers. We had Williams in Miami fair catching the ball at the two- yard line. He put the ball on the ground multiple times. They were [ __ ] But here’s the thing about playing. It’s a week- toeek league for a reason, Spencer. Things change. The narrative can change. Remember the first couple weeks of the season when we were all nuts about the amount of penalties that were still happening? They’re not happening as frequently anymore. So things can change. The team can change. And from week to week there’s a different story. So what was true in week three doesn’t necessarily have to be true now except for the fact that Aaron Glenn still hates the media and fights with them for no reason. That’s that’s the constant here. We just want improvement, man. And Isaiah Williams is a great example of a guy who legitimately has improved. So he gets credit for that. Yeah. He could be special teams player of the week two weeks in a row, right? He should or share it with uh Nangu. Yeah. Can we have co- special team players of the week? would be a first for us. Ladies and gentlemen, hit the like button if you guys are tuning in. Reminder, our raffle prize today is a signed helmet by Jets legend Bart Scott. Ladies and gentlemen, can’t wait to all the nonbelievers. How did that all the nonbelievers? Anybody can be beat. We’re pissed off. People gave us no chance like we barely made it in playoffs. We’re a good football team. For all you non-believers, disrespect us. talk crap about the defense like we ain’t the third best defense in the league. All we hear is about their defense. They can’t stop a nose bleed. 25th in the league and we the one to get disrespected. Congratulations. See you in Pittsburgh. Can’t wait. January 16th, 2011. The greatest day of my life when the Jets beat the Patriots in the divisional round of the playoffs. In honor of that, chess patch tomorrow night. We got a signed Bart Scott helmet gift of membership to enter Tatown. Jet is the latest to do so. He’s in the raffle for one. What do you remember the most about the can’t wait game, Nick Sean? H that day was just a tremendous day. I had a bet with my girlfriend’s daughter who was like maybe 14 at the time. Her and her cousin, if the Jets won, they got to hit me in the face with a banana cream pie after the game. And there was like 26 inches of snow we got the week before. So we went outside. They hit me in the face. I wash up. I left to go to uh this place, Chris Michaels, my friend’s uh wife, having her 30th birthday party there. I walk in. Place went nuts when they saw me come in the door. My buddy gives me a hug. He goes, “Bro, you smell great. What are you wearing?” I’m like, “Banana cream pie.” That day was just tremendous, man. Everything went right. Mark Sanchez, the throw to Holmes in the corner. Uh Brilen Edwards dragging the receiver uh the quarterbacks from the eight yard line into the end zone. Shawn Green putting the ball down, putting them to sleep that it was over. Watching New England fans be miserable. And just the look of what the hell is going on on S Palantonio’s face as he’s watching Bart Scott like, “Oh yeah, this is good.” Like if you watch S as Bart’s talking, he’s like, “Oh, I got a moment here.” Oh, it it was tremendous. You know, Brilin and San Antonio Holmes standing on the bench doing the the jet after the game. It was perfect, man. It’s a shame that that was our last playoff victory. Special. Special the cover of SI that week. Calvin Pay sacking Brady. Just just awesome. David Harris to the interception early in the game. Now, remember Nick Faulk still on the Jets. Still awesome. He actually missed the field goal. I’m thinking, “Oh no, here we go.” And just the defense was just unreal. Sanchez was so clutch. Contri had a big game. Holmes, Brilan Edwards dragging two Patriots defenders with them into the end zone on a quick slant. Oh, that was the best day ever. Best day ever. Really was that. And you thought that was just the tip of the iceberg, right? Like and we got our face kicked in 45 to3 like in early November on Monday Night Football. You know, that was the game where Rex buried the football outside. You know that story. And then they come back and they win on the road when nobody gave us a chance. and and Bart summarized it perfectly. Everyone on ESPN picked against us. No one gave us a chance in that game except for you, Keshan. Way to have our back. That was part of the the rant, too. Love it. Good times. Someday, Jake. We’ll get back there someday. Oh, man. It’s just crazy. There’s an entire generation of Jet fans that just they have no memory of the Jets in the playoffs. My son’s 17. He doesn’t know about that game. Nope. It’s 15 years ago. Literally, it’s uh it’s half my life. That’s how long it’s been. Like it’s crazy. Crazy. Uh, hit the like button if you guys are tuning in. Nick Shines with us. We’re talking Jets Patriots. We open the show talking about Aaron Glenn versus the media part 1000 since he’s been hired as the Jet coach. We’re going to get to your calls coming up. Uh, we are in fact giving away a Bart Scott helmet during the show. I’m going to gift the membership right now. We only have seven so far. So, let’s get another person in both our weekly and daily raffle that we do on the show. Ladies and gentlemen, one membership from yours truly is about to be gifted. And if you get it, I’m putting you in the Asmaniac raffle. So sit back and enjoy greatness personified. Here we go, Jake. All right, here we go. One membership has been gifted. It went to listener J Odd Job. He is in our Asmaniac raffle. J O, I’ll put you down. Thank you for supporting the show. Let’s get to a couple calls now, shall we? First up today is Jordan. What’s up, Jordan? What’s up, Jake? What’s up, Nick? What’s up, Uh, first things first. Uh, I think good oldfashioned THC does the trick. That CBD stuff doesn’t work. How dare you? It works great. Um, you don’t get to [ __ ] on a sponsor. Goodbye. Just kidding. Go ahead. Okay. I I mean, I wouldn’t have blamed you. They helped you with the shot. But um No, seriously. Um Nick, I wanted to get your thoughts on something that I mentioned to Jake when they first made the trades about um you know, trying to do what the Texans did a few years ago, how they drafted CJ Strad and then they went and drafted Will Anderson. I was saying the Jets should try to do something like that this draft, you know, get the quarterback or get a receiver or edge rusher and then and then, you know, whatever the case is, however they want to do it. But I feel they should try to do something like that and then try to build up the roster that way. I’m I’m a big believer that you traded Quinnon Williams and Sauce because you had these allp pro players on defense and you never got anywhere near winning with them, right? I’m a big believer that this plan is to get more assets to build a modernday NFL offense. And this year, you go get the quarterback, you get him another weapon in round one, you give him everything he needs to be successful, and then you can patchwork the defense. You can find guys with creativity. You can use the money for proving guys on defense. But let this quarterback, whoever it may be, come in with a finished offensive line, with a young tight end, with Garrett Wilson, with another receiver, with Mitchell, Smith, Matchi, who are all very fast. Now, you go add somebody else to this. We’re not going to be looking to win games 13. We’re we’re going to look to get to a modern-day NFL offense and be explosive and put touchdowns plural on the board. Maybe even multiple ones and a half on a regular basis. Who knows? Let’s get crazy. I I don’t mind the defense down the road, but for me, I would attack this. Go all in on the offense. Make your offense elite and then patchwork the defense through free agency. And then next year, you have these four picks again in the first two rounds as of now. That’s where I go get who I need on the defense to be those long-term pieces there. That’s if you finish the offense the right way. Let me ask you this. So, are you a believer in keeping Justin Fields to to be the the backup quarterback or the bridge quarterback to help, you know, move this young guy along or you want the young guy to start right away? Like, what’s your thoughts on that? Because the way Justin’s feel this offh this season, I wouldn’t want to keep him, bro. He can’t throw the freaking ball and he holds on to it and holds on to it and then it’s like making the whole line look bad. Like I would just release him after the season. Like it’s only $10 million or something like that. I forget the exact number, but you know, I just You save million if you cut them or trade them after June 1st. Yeah. Yeah. It goes from 13 million dead to 3 million dead, I believe, if you trade him after June 1st. But I I I don’t I don’t know. I like Justin Fields the person. I think he’s good to have because he’s going to go through a lot of [ __ ] the rest of the season, right? He’s going to take a lot of heat. He’s going to have to deal with a lot of questions. He may get benched again. He’s got the personal resolve to help teach a young quarterback how to deal with New York, how to deal with the media, how to present yourself at the microphone, which is a big part of playing in New York. And we’ve seen some guys come in, fall flat on their face, and never really take off on the field. So, yeah. Hey. So, do you think they still keep Justin and still at a veteran or do you do better? It’s too early. But I I think I’m not against Taylor being here, right? Taylor’s a very good mentor. Like, I’m not against Taylor one more year. And you say to Taylor, you’ll be the backup for this kid. Maybe you start Taylor next year for a couple games. If the kid’s not ready to go, you don’t. Are we sure Taylor’s not going to retire? He’s always hurt, dude. This could be it for him. I need a better veteran. I need someone that is more durable. I don’t want the rookie to be forced to play right away if he’s not ready. And the risk with Tyrod Taylor is he gets hurt and then you’re throwing the rookie out there and he’s not ready. I just think that if they could sign like a more proven veteran backup that’s not so injuryprone, maybe we could have the guy sit like Jackson Dart did half the year or or a few games or whatever. you know, let them learn and and and see things first and then start to plan because, you know, like Jay Jake said before, the history of starting quarterbacks coming out for the Jets as rookies just isn’t good, you know. So, I I just think that this is their chance to get things right and, you know, how the rest of the season plays out and the moves and how they how they operate in the offseason is going to tell a lot on whether this team is going to be successful or not. That’s fair. I agree. Shout out to your daughter there, Jordan. Love it. Yeah, that was pretty cool. Hey, I was like, “Oh, right. What did I say something wrong?” Your your head popped up, too, was Hey. I’m like, “Hey, now.” Uh, hey, huge shout out to Mr. Magix 373. Our first 10 spot of the program. Let’s go. You tell me how crazy I am. Where are you? I just took four chair head shot. You know what, gentlemen? Hold on. Thor hammer. The power of Asia. Thank you to listener Mike Damo for this. Nice. That’s right. 10 memberships. Uh, let’s see. Mr. Bayjax actually gifted Mr. Mayjax. Love that happens. He gifted himself. Chef Jets Fed, Zack Burkhart, TB, George Kadani, Adrien Flores, NCJ Jet, TJ Beg, Will Fredo Garcia, and Joe Rod all received a channel membership. Self love is very important. Ask Charles Gorman. Uh, no comment. All right. No comment. Uh, ladies and gentlemen, more of your calls right now. Uh, this guy is joining us live from what appears to be the supermarket. So, buckle up. Where in the hell are the damn country? Are you serious? Get out of here. Six something for country stop. Get out of here. Get out of here. shoot myself in the foot for that. Okay. All right. Fine. We’ll do things the hard way. Well, I’ll find different ways. Don’t think I won’t. I will. No, I don’t need no poultry. Now, where’s those lunches at? Where’s Where’s Can we see your shopping cart so far with what you’ve purchased? Mhm. Hold it. Go. [ __ ] him. No, no, no, no cheese. That’s that’s fake. I don’t want that [ __ ] What’s your shopping cart? Oh, that’s a that’s a sweet shot right there. Look at that. That says not Hey, nothing says good old salami. Hey, the only thing I’m I’m extending some gobble goo. The only thing Let’s see what have I got so far. Chops, salami, chicken, and more chicken. Man’s chicken. See, this is this is for real men, not little boys. You want to be a man? Suck it up. Now, I’m going to ask him one more time. Where’s all the Where’s all the good stuff at? Where the hell’s everything? I don’t want to. If you think I’m paying $6.99 for goddamn push, though, you better think twice. I’ll shoot myself in the foot for that. Where the hell’s all the goodies at? Okay. Orange chicken. Barbecue chicken. Buffalo chicken. Get on. More bubble chicken. Barbecue. hor. [Music] And hello there. Hello to you over there. How are you? Can’t hear you there. Hold on, mate. Let me put you on a headset. [Music] Jesus Christ. How you feeling this morning? You talking to me? Yeah, I’m talking to you. I feel fine. How do you feel? Look, I’m looking for punchy style ribs, but I’m not paying no six something for that. You crazy. I was get I was getting way better for something before I got kad in the nuts. Now, let’s find something to cook. Let’s start looking for the holiday stuff. Uhhuh. Yeah, it’s showtime, people. You know what time it is? It’s hammer time. You know, can’t touch. Can’t touch. You know my my music hits me so hard to basically say, “Oh, my thank you for blessing me.” You know, time at You know what I mean by that? That’s old school. Some some of these fools don’t got no game all talk and coach and come tomorrow night pat we go to Boston we got a fish left we’re the pimps they the hoes they got to put in a fiveletter word called check oh [ __ ] all right we’re joined now by Peter Castro Peter how we feeling good how you doing Jake how you doing Nick what’s up you talking to [Laughter] I don’t know who I’m talking to here, Nick. Uh, you know what the biggest problem the Jets have? It’s a major problem. You can’t evaluate anything on this team. You can’t evaluate the receivers. You can’t evaluate the offensive line. You can to some degree, but even the running backs, you can’t. these other teams are putting eight, nine guys on the line of scrimmage. Our our receivers are open cuz I watch myself and I see them open, but you you know, how can you evaluate anybody? That’s my argument for starting Tyrod. Not that I think Tyrod is this great player, but at least you could run a conventional offense with him. Like he’s not he’s serviceable if you protect him. Yeah, but uh with Justin Fields, he makes the offensive line look bad. He even the running backs he makes look bad. We know Bree is great, but when you got eight guys in a line of scrimmage, for him to get out of there, you know, it’s a miracle. Yeah, it’s agreed. Agreed. And honestly, it’s more reason to sign Breece because he’s having the year he’s having with the limitations they have with the quarterback. And the other thing I don’t understand is why isn’t Justin Fields running? If he’s not running, he’s worthless. He’s absolutely worthless. And I don’t understand why he’s not running. You got to move the pocket. You got to do You got whatever it takes to give him an opportunity. Like I said earlier, him and shotgun reading five receivers and the defense is just a dead play. Like the defense wants that. All right, you’re going to do this. Okay, perfect. He He’s uh he I mean, you just you can’t do anything with him. He’s tying up the He’s tying everybody’s hands up. And I don’t know why Aaron Glenn or uh Tanner Hangstrom doesn’t just say to him, “Run the ball.” If you can’t, you know, if you don’t see your first guy open, take off, run. That needs to be the game plan tomorrow, especially like, hey man, you got 10 days to recover after this game. Like, we’re calling a lot of design runs for you. We need you to be superhuman to give us a chance in this game. Like, we just don’t have enough uh receiving talent without Garrett out there to run a real offense. Like, we need you to be the catalyst of our offense and make plays with your legs to open things up. It’s almost like he has no feel for the game. He doesn’t even know when to run. Uh I I watched a couple of times where he handed off with Brie to Bree Hall. If he just tucked it back in he and ran around the side, he would have got 20 or 30 yards. Y I I don’t I don’t get it. I mean, don’t they don’t the coaches see what we’re saying? Well, that’s that’s a feel in the moment, right? That’s right. You’re supposed to pull it. If the defensive end crashes down, you pull it and you beat him on a sprint out. And he’s just not seeing that, right? He’s not. And we don’t know if they’re saying give it and run this play and sell the RPO so that Breeze can get maybe, you know, maybe you freeze the middle linebacker, which has happened time here and there, but we don’t know what the play call is. It could be just fake the RPO and and it’s a true give, but there’s times where you saw Fields, he jumped and spun around one time because he knew he would have went to the house if he kept it. So, I would love to see that a little more tomorrow night. And if you get that going, you freeze your safeties, you freeze your linebackers, and now that might be able to get Bree a home run. You know, Bree just needs that half a step and he can run away from people. But we got to do everything we can to to devise that and design that so that he can hit the home runs for us because we need points, man. If he drops back, I mean, if he just takes a snap from under center and drops back and just waits like a second and takes off right up the middle, it’s going to be it’s going to be wide open cuz they’re crashing from both ends. I mean, I don’t know. I I get frustr I get so frustrated watching them. I can’t I can’t explain it. It’s like, oh my god. It’s like pulling teeth to get them to move. Look, everything you’re saying is accurate. The problem is they are probably going to start him tomorrow. That’s why the leash better be razor thin if you have a chance to even be in this game. Like you cannot allow Justin Fields to have another game where he’s he’s going to pace to have 60 passing yards or less. And there’s a chance that happens tomorrow because four out of his eight starts it’s happened. So it’s a 50% clip including by the way three of Justin Fields last four starts. I looked it up. Three of his last four starts, Justin Fields has thrown for fewer than 100 passing yards. Three of his last four, most in the NFL. Like, and this is a guy in his fifth year. He is who he is. We know he’s not the guy. Let’s evaluate our team properly by playing Tyro. Exactly. Otherwise, you’re not You can’t really evaluate anything on this team. He’s not throwing the ball. He’s not running. He’s making everybody look bad. You know, it’s just uh it’s every week the same thing. He should have pulled him last week at halftime and he didn’t do it. And he’s just being stubborn, you know, like he wants to prove a point. It’s not happening with this guy. I don’t know. Something seems to be wrong with him. I don’t know if he’s shell shocked. I don’t know. Mentally, there’s something definitely wrong with him. Agreed. He’s not playing with a full deck. Just like the Not playing with a full arm either. No, I I mean I’ve never seen anything like it to tell you the truth, Nick. I mean, worse than Zack. At least Zach got rid of the ball. He may have not made the right reads, but at least he threw the ball. Jake Asmin could get the ball off better than Jay. Nick, you could get the ball off better than him. He’s He’s an abortion. I mean, you Something’s wrong with him. Something’s definitely mentally wrong. Throw the effing ball. I mean, I look at him. I’m like, “Throw the goddamn ball, you freaking [ __ ] Throw it.” You know, I’m sitting there screaming the whole game. It was rough with It was rough with uh what’s his name? Neil. I have to hold back a little bit. You got to hold back. Neil did enough yelling for the whole town. Yeah. Is Is Neil still in Florida? You guys watching tomorrow’s game together, too? No. Neil had to go home because he had to walk the dog. Ah. He had to take the dog. He had to take the dog back or something, but he he went back on. He’s coming back though. I love it. When you two are together, it’s the best. It’s the best combo call we could get. That’s the live stream that we need. We need to have a live stream of the two of you watching the game together. Yeah. Like the, you know, the New York Jokes on YouTube. They do a great job like kind of filming themselves watching the Jets and they post a video every week. A live stream of just Peter and Neil watching Jet games. Man, we got to get that set up for next year. I mean, we’ll get a big sponsor for it. everyone. It will be incredible. You talk about 13 points. He made about 400 points when he was sitting here. I’ve watched a game with Neil before the the worst sports moment of my life I watched with Neil. Aaron Rogers week one 2023. Oh my gosh. But you know, everybody’s We’re all standing here. Everybody’s, “Oh, throw the ball. Throw it. Throw the ball.” I mean, can’t he just drop back and and get it out? I mean, what is wrong? Who’s coaching him? I mean, who the hell is coaching this guy? I mean, I’ve never seen him this bad. He wasn’t this way in in Chicago. He wasn’t this bad in Pittsburgh. He is the pits now. The pits. He’s worse than Zach Wilson. Pretty bad. What? He’s played like it, Peter. Hang in there. All right. Enjoy the nice weather in Florida. I hope it’s nice weather. Go for it. All right, guys. Calm down. Let’s hope we win. Jets. Jets. Jets, ladies and gentlemen, Peter Castro. All right, there we go. There we are. Smile. Oh, yeah. Just got me my chicken. Got some pork chops. Oh well. Can’t win them all. That’s fine. Waiting. Never going to That doesn’t pay the bills. not get to the not to get to my next destination. Time to hit all these out bank. See this where this where all the why I get away world here where I get all gumballs today, huh? Hey Mikey, how are you? Good. How you doing, buddy? I’m in the hospital again, unfortunately. Well, I had I had pneumonia again. I got admitted when I was working. I had pneumonia with my heart. They got put my heart back to normal on Thursday. My dad take care of my cat. My dad’s gonna take care of my cat. I heard I like I I hope you get better. I’m like, oh, that’s crazy. Yeah, I will get better. My mom explaining to me why they keeping me couple days. So my mom know she knows better for me. I was kind of upset I couldn’t leave yesterday. But I didn’t want to go back in the hospital again. Well, don’t worry about it. Just just think of it this way. In 100 years, who’s going to care anyway? You know, just think of it. You know, we got we got a long way tomorrow. The Jets win. The Jets go win 30 to 24 tomorrow. Let’s not Let’s not count our blessings just yet. Not just yet. We got We want to talk then. We got to punch the Patriots first. Or not. We don’t Now we got I I got the new name for the Patriots. We call them [ __ ] because they [ __ ] [Music] Shout out to Mikey Midnight. Hope you’re doing well, Mike. Hang there, my homeboy. Yeah. Uh, couple super chats that we’re going to get to, then right back to your calls. We got some great callers still to get on the show today. Matt L has gifted five channel memberships. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Matt yesterday during the weekly raffle, I believe he won the Derell Rivas uh autograph football. I think that was you, Matt. I know you won a prize. I sent it out yesterday. So, congratulations. He wanted to know with the super chat, is Beast a danger to himself or others in public? Uh, I don’t believe so, Nick. I think Beast is a great citizen, follows the rules, and is a pleasure to be around in all areas of public life. I would go with how long has it been since his last medicine ingestion knob writes in is there anything tasty in the burger section beast that’s a question directed for you so I’ll let you handle Mike Perez in the raffle for two says can’t help to think if we won 829809 and 10 we’d be considered a historic franchise like the Steelers or Cowboys with a massive fan base all we could do is dream well I mean you’re just talking AFC championship games though they still would have to win the Super in the following round. Yes. If the Jets obviously had five total Super Bowl rings, they would be considered a historic franchise. They’re not because they have won and haven’t been back to the Super Bowl since before the moon landing. 98 was the year that was the the Falcons would have stood a chance against us. That they killed the Falcons in the regular season, too. Yeah. Yeah. I believe Chris Chandler was their quarterback that year. Jamal Anderson was their running back. That that was the year. That was the team. and being up right before half and Keith Buyers Romanowski Keith Buyers tried to jump over him and Romanowski came under and his helmet I believe knocked the ball out and the Broncos recovered it and the Jets never really recovered from that and we were driving. That was the best drive of the game. We were driving. We were going to put that It could have been up 10 nothing going into the half. That that game still hurts. That game still hurt. That’s that’s the biggest loss. I I went to Pittsburgh and that 98 Denver game still hurts more than any game. Interesting. Yeah. Too I I was alive but too young to know what happened, you know. But to me, 2010 in Pittsburgh, that hurts the most because the win the previous week, it just felt like they were going to finally get to the Super Bowl. And as bad as they played in the first half, the comeback they made, if they just got off the field, I’ll go to my grave convinced the Jets were going to go down the field and win the game cuz that’s what they were doing the entire half. Sanchez was so clutch. That offense had so many dramatic come from behind wins all year. That was the 2010 team. Like they won so many games the exact way it was set up for them to do it in Pittsburgh and they just never got the opportunity. Well, I’m the I’m the opposite. 98 for me was my first love. You know how the first love always hurts the most. 98 for me was this is the first time. You know, I’d been a fan since 85 and that was the first time we were really good and we had Parcels and we had all that momentum and Vinnie comes in after Glenn Foley starts the season and they just they take off and that that’s that’s the team that I was at the Jaguar game the week before that they won 3424. I called the Keshan interception at the end and like a whole bunch a pile of dudes just like everyone were just celebrating. I didn’t get out from underneath a pile of guys paused until Vinnie was doing his victory lap around the stadium with Moai Martin Crebette and others. They were high-fiving the fans and uh we started the we want Denver chant late in the game and it being there for that 98 team and then being at seven of the eight home games that year was just that was my first experience going like without my dad, you know what I mean? Like that was the first time as like a young adult going to the games and that that was just an that stadium environment that year was insane, man. Can’t imagine. Lumpy, how much faith do you have this regime? We’ll pick the right quarterback until I see it. Very little, but I’ll be hopeful, right? All right. I’m not going to criticize them for taking their chance. That’s how you got to do it. So, time will tell. Let’s get the more calls. Still got some great callers that we have to get in here. Let’s talk to Jason in Jerusalem and then the great Kyle Clifton will be next. So, get your inside outside guestes ready for that. But Jason’s next on the show. What’s up, Jason? First of all, shout out Mattel. Thank you for the uh for the membership. Much appreciated. Um 98 hurt. To me, the Steeler loss that really hurt was the Doug Bryant game. That’s the one that still stings to me. 04. It’s one of my earliest memories as of a Jet fan. My dad screaming about that game. They they had it and Herm just became a wimp at the end. Not getting for more yardage. They lost field goal. David Barrett hits the INT and then like you take kneel downs as opposed to I mean even said do a flea flicker or something like that that would have been amazing but god forbid should you throw a pass there at the last minute. Yeah and if if you’re going to take the knee just go forward with it you know what I mean give it to Curtis don’t take the knee to lose another yard yard and a half on that turf which is the worst kicking surface in the history of the NFL at that point kicking into the open end of the stadium. Yeah. And it hit the crossbar. You took the knee and then it hits the crossbar. Yeah. How do you get me pissed off, Jason? Come on, man. Um, also, I I’m still waiting to hear back from Beast as to what the kosher department is like in the supermarket that he’s at. Uh, he’s no longer on the on hold, otherwise I would definitely ask him for you. But it’s a great question. Yeah. Um, getting back on point, Aaron Glenn, I mean, this is going to wear out very, very quickly both to the fans because don’t insult, you can insult the media, but you’re also insulting our intelligence. I mean, asking about Garrett Wilson is a question that we want to know about. It’s not just the media. And to yell at the and to not give an answer and say, “Well, ask some things like that.” It’s really a slap in the face to the fan base. There’s You want to be evasive. You want to say we’re evaluating it. Uh even pull the hockey stuff of it’s a lower body injury. You know, hockey players don’t get injured. It’s either upper body or lower body. You know, be evasive, but don’t be combative. I mean, you’re starting a fight with the fans if you do that. And I just think it’s disgraceful. Yeah. An easy out is uh we got the trainers and the doctors, the medical teams reviewing it. We don’t have any answers yet. We’ll let you know when we do. Simple. It it’s a it’s avoids the question. It gives info without giving info and it just says we don’t have a definitive yet. Kick the can down the road if you don’t have an answer. You don’t have to be combative if you don’t want to give it. Yeah. But I mean you as a fan, how do you feel when you see that that’s how he’s talking? It’s pointless. It’s pointless. You think it’s pointless? I I think the the combiveness is pointless. There there’s no there’s no win out of it. Like you can be kind to people and not give them the info that they’re looking for just to give them the fluff answer and move on and then you give the answer when you’re ready to I I don’t get it. I’m not I’m not a fan of that approach of just being rude to be rude. Yeah. But I I hate to say I take it personally. I’m not a media member, things like that. But when somebody’s asking the questions that we as the fan base want to know and you’re just being combative about it, yeah, the media is doing their jobs and sometimes they’re dicks about it. You know, I get it. And I don’t know whether Sini was accurate or not or if you were trying to hold it or, you know, whatever the reason he didn’t want to leak it type thing, but it’s just a slap in the face of the fan base. And he’s been that way with Samini since he got the job. Like it this has been he doesn’t like Sini for probably since he played. So I don’t know predates him since 94. They actually have a good relationship but like I don’t know why. Like so Glenn thinks he could like you know rib him like he’s done from the beginning and like Simi was a big advocate of him getting the job and saying that he thought it was a good hire and if you listen to Sime’s podcast he’s very lenient and fair with Glenn but it’s only going to go so far. And what Glenn did yesterday I think it’s just silly. Like Rich reported on Garrett Wilson. Obviously, it’s true because Glenn uh didn’t deny it and it’s a total reasonable followup question to be like, “Hey, is he going to go on IR?” And that’s a a question that we as fans want the answer to. So, the media is trying to do their job to get you answers and then, you know, Glenn’s just going to be a dick for no reason. Like, it’s not it’s not worth it. That’s not a fight. Like, if it was an unfair question, I get it. It’s not. If it was like combative, the media trying to be combative, I would defend Glenn. Like I I like I I just don’t think how Glenn acted there was warranted. I just think it’s a silly thing to do when you’re two and seven. Are they like friendly where it’s like you know how like you can needle a friend? Like is he busting Samini’s balls by doing this? Like do they have Am I reading that wrong? Do they have a good rapport and it’s just giving your friend [ __ ] I Yeah, I I I think that’s some of it. But I also think he’s annoyed that Rich had the story. like he’s annoyed that Rich was right because Glenn wants to control the message the messaging but it’s you can’t do that in New York like things get out like you have to deal with that like and what has surprised me the most is that Glenn played in this market and was successful in this market as a player so he should know what comes with it like his approach with the media I thought was going to be a strength that he’d be able to handle all this because he understands the job of the media and he understands what it’s like to be here when it’s bad and when it’s good so I’ve been shocked that he’s continued to take this approach coach all season long. Unless his issue is that he’s afraid that there’s leaks in the, you know, in-house leaks. Uh, but this stuff could also come from Garrett. Garrett’s agent or Garrett’s people could also share it with the media. That’s probably where it came from if we’re being real. Yeah. I mean, anyone who watched Garrett on the bike the other day, Garrett had the the winter mask on to cover his mouth as he talked to the trainer. Like, you knew it wasn’t good. At least I did. The second I saw Garrett in that winter ski mask talking to the trainer where he didn’t have to cover his his face up, he purposely had his face covered, that’s when I knew it wasn’t good. Just to bring it to the to feels, it’s almost like the that whole interception record, the fact that he didn’t have an interception, what was it, seven games, eight games in a row? it. That’s so misleading because he just wasn’t throwing it, but it was almost like he was just playing not to get intercepted as opposed to actually and that probably comes from coaching. I agreed. I I mean I the fact that Fields is going to probably start tomorrow, God help us if he’s awful and they stick with him like another national televised game where everyone can see Aaron Glenn mismanage the quarterback situation is not what we need. We really don’t need that tomorrow. Think Streller’s coming again? I was at the the last uh Chris Trevor Thursday Night Football Jet appearance. God. All right. So, just to end off, we’re the fourth defense in the league. All we hear about is their defense. Can’t stop a nose bleed. 25th in the league. They were the third. Not even fourth. You’re selling the 2010 Jets defense short. Jason, what did he say? He said third or fourth in the uh The Jets were third. Third. All right. Good call. Appreciate you, Jason. Uh, yeah, the Jets were third in 2010 after being number one in ’09. Oh, man. All that being said about Justin Fields first 100redyard rushing game coming tomorrow night. Let’s go. They need it. They need it bad. Matt says, “I was in fifth grade when the Jets won the Super Bowl. I wore my Larry Granthm number 60 from youth through college.” Uh, one of the great players in the history of the franchise, lifelong Jet, fivetime all pros, looking at his stats before obviously on the Super Bowl team. Great player. Great, great player. Played for the Jets from 1960 to 1972. 13 years all with the Jets. He actually predated the Jets. He was on the Titans in 1960. Those awful uniforms. Awful. Uh Antonio, uh yes, Doug Bryan missed two field goals in the in the Pittsburgh game late in the game. Yes, he did. They were very crushing. That was a rough day. I’d imagine so. I do I do remember it, but it wasn’t like it it doesn’t hurt me the same way it would hurt Yeah. someone like you or anyone that was, you know, let’s say another five years older than me at that point. Yeah. And my my stepg grandmother had passed away and we had the funeral that morning and all her family is from Western Pennsylvania. So, we’re at the repass with all of these Steelers fans before the game and I’m supposed to get together with them the next day before they go back. back. And when the Jets lost to Pittsburgh, I’m not going to see these people. I I wish them well. That that that’s it. Like, come give everyone my best, Mom. I’m not going after the Jet lost. All right, home stretch for the show. It’s time to guess. Discord. [Music] [Music] Oh, outside. Oh, we can’t hear you. The AirPods of Clifton costing him. The stadium noise is too loud. It’s drowning him out. Can’t hear you. Nothing. But Metife does look electric right now. Not charged the AirPods before he left the house. Kyle, we’ll go back to you, Kyle. Don’t worry. In the meantime, ladies and gentlemen, if you missed yesterday’s show, we debuted a brand new intro that Gator made. It’s time. Get I’m going to set all you delusional jets straight. Your takes me want to punch you in the face or kick you with the CL when this team sucks. I make you say they have the gypsy clothes. So good. Uh, so I heard Shai say something that made me this laugh in my soul beginning of the season. All right. I said Fields had to have a 100red yards per game. And everyone laughed me out of the room like you’re insane. That means he would average, 1700. In retrospect, I was right. Retrospect, I was right. We We needed 200 a couple games. Yeah, for real. Like we we need a lot. We need a lot. Um, Frabel is the best defender against the running quarterbacks. Like this, if he starts him tomorrow with no game plan, that’s just it’s epically bad because then it’s just stubbornness. Then you just want to start Fields because you said Fields, I’m going to have you play the whole season no matter what. Like you have to make a commitment to him for him to to start him tomorrow after last week’s game. Like his lease has to be supremely short, bro. Like first quarter type [ __ ] Like you got to be out, bro. Like you just don’t have it today. Like Jake’s analogy is perfect. He’s like a pitcher that just doesn’t have it on certain days. Like if he doesn’t have it, take him out. Put somebody else in cuz Rabel’s going to eat him alive. Like this. This is going to be like taking candy from a baby tomorrow. Yeah. With feels like what’s he going to do? Is he gonna pass? I mean, there’s a 50% chance he looks like he’s unplayable and then maybe there’s a I don’t know, an outside chance that he has like this random outlier game like Cincinnati was or even Pittsburgh. But like Cincinnati, I think we could explain to their defense being as bad as it is. Pittsburgh, I think we could just say it’s week one. They’re not as good of a defense as we thought they normally are. And there was no film on what the offense was. What fuels an extra. So, we’ve yet to really see a game against like a good opponent where he just plays confidently, you know. So, what do you have for how many yards over under tomorrow for a field? Maybe he gets to 150 if he plays the whole game. 150. Wow. Three times what he had last week. Yeah. I mean, big dreams. Garbage time. Maybe like you know that that kind of thing. I don’t know. I I don’t have a good feeling about this game tomorrow. Obviously, I despise the Patriots and every fiber in my body. Yeah, after the draft pick. If they Jets can win tomorrow night, I’m all for it. But I just I don’t know. I don’t I don’t feel good about it. I hope I’m wrong. How many screen passes are we calling? I need to know that first. How many screen passes? You know what’s crazy? All of the fans who in the beginning of year, we’re not calling screen passes. We’re not calling screen passes. Get it to Breeze. Then when we get it to Breeze, oh no, no, you can’t count that yardage. It’s just a screen pass. Like it I’m counting the yardage. Like he got a pass off. people, Twitter and everybody was like, “No, no, no, it doesn’t count. It’s a screen pass.” But screaming to run more screen pass. Well, no, no, it counts, but you also have to add the context that, you know, the Jets completed two passes in front of the line of scrimmage. So, it’s like you could say, yes, throw more screens, but you know, we’re talking about like his stats. He had no passing yards. If you take away even the screen that was completed to Bree doing all the work, he had 12 yards passing. It’s like throw more screens and it counts, but we’re also saying, “Hey, man, you also got to throw passes in front of the line of scrimmage that are completed, too.” Well, maybe FanDuel doesn’t even have Fields on for passing yardage up yet. No, it’s We have Drake May’s over under passing yards prop is 241 and a half on FanDuel. And they have not listed Fields numbers because I guess technically we don’t know if he’s starting. We don’t know who’s the quarterback is and Paul’s over under for rushing yards 58 and a half. I wish I wish we didn’t spoil our miracle last week and that miracle week was this week against the Patriots because that would be awesome. Still the same week, bro. It’s still the same week. I I’m calling it the Mangled miracle season. Any wins that we get is because of Nick Mangled, not because of AG. Now, I’m just doubling down on Spencer because I don’t care what Spencer has to say. Anything that we do now is because of Nick Mangled. Like, I’m interested. I’m really I’m not being negative this week. Like this week I’m just like I want to see what happens because it’s a true test. The last two wins you’ve been negative. You can’t change now. Because they’ve been shitty wins. Like I need to see a good win. Like you beat up a six-year-old when you’re 25. Like oh I beat him up like awesome. You did a good job. I want to see you beat up somebody like stronger than you or equal. Like just I don’t even want to win tomorrow. It’s just sad. That’s how low the bar is for us. I just want to be competitive, not be embarrassed on live TV. So, my friends at the end of the game are all going to text me like, “Damn, don’t even make fun of me anymore. My friends text me like sad for me at the end of the game. I just want to be competitive. If we win, then I’m confirming it as the Nick Mangle miracle season cuz that’s what I believe in. I don’t believe in AG so far. Mr. Gypsy, thank you for the time. Let’s hope for the New York Jets can surprise us all. All right, home stretch, ladies and gentlemen. Kyle Clifton, are you there, sir? I feel like I am. Am I? Oh, we can’t see you, though. What section are you in? We got to zoom in. Looks like he’s in the upper deck. Right in front of the Altune sign there. I’m here. We hear you. All right, let’s let’s just proceed then. Um, I don’t know what that is with green screen. Let me let me see if I can switch it up here. Wow, that’s weird. I have a question now. We have a technicality. Yep. Oh, wait. I thought that was in his house. Never mind. How does the inside outside work? Because the stadium was outside, but he’s technically inside for the call. How does how does this ruling work? Boom town. How do you define it? Well, now he’s inside. I this counts to me as an inside. It’s an inside. Yeah. Somehow because he was outside at the stadium. Now he’s inside. It’s It’s one in one today for people. Yeah. You know, I I’m I’ve become that old person that can’t deal with technology. It’s it’s very it’s very deflating. Um, so you know, you guys were talking a little bit before about Ad Mitchell, and I think I I’ve mentioned this before, but I feel like not only getting the quarterback and and someone who can run this Angstrand uh offense effectively is is a priority. um you know, someone who I’d prefer a running quarterback that can stress a defense uh like we envisioned Fields would be, but like I want to get a true X. I I don’t know at 62 if Adam Mitchell is that. That doesn’t mean he can’t be useful to us. I kind of see him as more of a a perimeter guy on the other side. Um but I want to get our Drake London. I want to get our Mike Evans. I want to get our guy that is going to draw that safety help open and just I I I want our offense to be simple and elegant and just have people know that we’re going to try and run the ball down down our throats and if you as if you try and stack the box, we’re going to be taking shots downfield that you’re not going to be able to stop either. So, um, you know, I I think that, um, you know, putting Garrett in the slot is the priority. That’s where he’s going to do the most damage on the go forward. Um, obviously, there’ll be times, you know, if if say Ad Mitchell or someone else is the other perimeter receiver, uh, you know, where and we’re in, um, sets where requires less receivers that that Garrett might be out on the perimeter. But that’s kind of the way I envision the offense uh working and the way I think some of the best offenses work in the NFL nowadays. Um that doesn’t mean that we have to get them both this year. Um because we have so many other needs whether it’s linebacker or or safety or quite frankly interior uh offensive line. um you know that that are coming up um and defense and certainly defensive line uh with the the subtraction of Quinnon uh and uh you know I I think we could probably use a little bit defensive end and depth as well. Um that’s pretty much all I had. I got thrown off my game by uh by all these technical difficulties, but I’m glad I was able to get through. You know what though? Unlike Justin Fields, when you don’t have your best stuff, you just completely are unplayable, can’t get through a single game, you didn’t have your best stuff, but you fought through it and still had an outstanding call that gave you a chance to be the caller of the day. Right. I don’t like the whole idea of being compared to that piece of garbage. Good p good person, but not a quarterback. Let’s be let’s be frank. I’ll give you a Derek Jeter content. There was times he went 0 for four, ninth inning, he’d get the hit, go one for five, but he got the clutch hit. He got the hit when it mattered most. So if you had a bad first to third and we we know if he gets on base, he’s going from first to third with ease. That’s right. Thanks, Nick. I appreciate it. There you go. Hall of Famer, too, just like you. Yeah. All right, last couple calls here. Those are real or if those are [ __ ] Gator. That’s That’s the beauty of Beast. You don’t know what’s real and you don’t know what Gator created. That should be a game. You tell me how crazy I am. Where are you? I just took four chair head shot. Don’t know what’s real. I don’t know if that’s real. No idea. This is real though. I promise you. We have a Bart Scott autographed helmet. That is the raffle prize this morning in honor of little Jets Pats. Can’t wait for the game tomorrow, but not really. But Bart Scott is the prize today. Bart helmet. Enter the raffle. Uh we’ve had 24 memberships this show. Couple super chats that qualified as well. So, if you’ve never won, this is a good show to probably enter. Little light on both to give you a chance to win coming up here shortly. Ladies and gentlemen, let’s get to our last two calls. Let’s say hi to Taylor in Connecticut who’s next. What’s up, Taylor? Jake. Nick, what’s going on? How are you, Bo? Not too bad. Um, I feel like the game plan for tomorrow, like why don’t you just come out and like first play run four verts, you know? like they’re gonna come out cover zero some you know run blitz they’re gonna be expecting you to just hammer Bree Hall it’s like if Field is starting you know he probably can’t do it but that would be my game plan is just come out come out Chuck and whoever is playing quarterback what you guys I don’t hate it I would out if they’re in man clear out send the vertical routes and dump it off to Bree give Bree the option route coming out of the back field to go left or right and just dump it off to him non-stop. This should be a that seven, eight catch game for uh Breeze. Just get him the ball and even Davis throw a couple to him. Just clear out, dump the ball off. I don’t I didn’t even think about that either. That’s perfect. Honestly, run four verts and just have Bree one-on-one with Bobby Spolain. He’s not He’s not gonna be able to get him. That’s That’s what I would do. guys like Mitchell and Smith running crossing routes right in front of fields where it’s easy like simplify the game for him. Get your guys with the speed into the open field where they can catch the ball and turn it up. Don’t look for fields to make a 20 yard throw. Throw a three- yard throw that could potentially get exploited and and get vertical. And I’m not sure like the scheme of the Pats defense, but it’s like or if you’re running, you know, you send the X, whoever, whether it’s Mitchell, Matchy, whoever, Aaron Smith, if you’re sending them on a on a streak, send Mason Taylor on the corner route and so that they draw the safety out. And it’s like just get the get it downfield so that they back up a little bit, then you can hammer Bree up the middle. And like uh I think Sabbo was saying yesterday, you know, when you run for seven yards on first down, don’t line up and run it up the gut again because how many times this season have we seen we do that, it’s a great run on first down by Bree and then we do the exact same play almost maybe to the other side and he loses two yards because they know it’s coming and it’s like now we got third and five and Fields doesn’t convert that like nine times out of 10 this season. It’s ridiculous. And being in CT, I’m I’m praying praying for a Jets win because most of my friends are insufferable [ __ ] Patriots fans and I can’t understand who they are. Right. Right. And right at the beginning of the season, one of my one of my good friends is Pats fan and I said I didn’t believe I’m like I don’t know. I’m like the Pats have a good coach. I don’t know if they’re going to be all that this year. And I was like Jets and Pats will probably be both in the same boat, you know, kind of in the middle. And oh man, have I not every single week. Hey, do you remember when you said that? It’s the worst thing ever. And with Glenn with Glenn and the Yeah, Glenn in the media, I’m like to me, I don’t really care. I’m like, he clearly didn’t want that news to get out at all. Um, I don’t know if it was because he thought, you know, the Pats would think he’s playing or whatever, but he clearly didn’t want that to get out and it pissed him off. Well, how he handles it, you know, that’s a whole another story. But I just think the national media and the be like everything with the Jets for the last 20 years has just been insufferable and negative and I’m like, I just don’t even care what the media thinks anymore. Whoa. Whoa. We did have Aaron Hunt celebrating Will McDonald’s field goal block. True, true. It was a great moment, a moral victory that day. He said afterwards, “We’re not the same old Jets.” As the Jets fell to 0 and3 [Music] [Applause] there’s a guy in the chat named Renzel who is a Glen truther. He goes, “Who wants the bet? Jets win tomorrow. Taking bets.” I gladly will take a bet, Renzel. How much you want to bet? We’re just talking straight up. No spread. Spread. I’m not going to touch it because I can see a back door cover. But you’re telling me I get to just have the patch. You have the Jets. What do you want to bet? I’m in. Here’s here’s here’s an interesting bet. Will the Jets ever have the lead in the game? Listen, I’m rooting for them to win. And here’s why they’re going to win. Number one, so Allen has to suffer. Number two, because I didn’t I work 2:30 to 11, as you know. I didn’t request off from work. I got one vacation day left. I’m saving it to extend the the day after Christmas to have a longer weekend, but I’m going to be at a school with horrible reception, not be able to watch the game and enjoy it. Like, my bad luck will be like the Jets play their best game of the year, Jake, and I won’t be able to see it in real time. So, that’s that’s the jinx right there that we need perhaps. Uh, Renzel says, “Let’s bet Jets win. I get to do a show on my own. If they lose, I send you five to 10 subs.” Oh, no. That’s That’s not That’s not How does that help the community? No one wants to hear your You do a show solo. Like, we could do a show together. We You could come on and gloat. I’d be fine with that. Um, you get a prolonged call in. Yeah. You get a person. We We’ll rename the show for the day in your honor. But five to 10 subs, that’s not worth it. Come on. Yeah, just to put things in perspective, Renzel, if the Jets cover Allen is gifting 50 memberships, you want to host a show for five or 10. Yeah, we need more than that. Uh Spencer says, “Yes, Jake.” Confident, buddy. Spencer, I’m not sure what bet you want to make. You’re just saying the odds of the money line plus 600. How much cash are we talking about? I’ll get I’ll give you uh plus 600 odds. Sure. But that means I’m not taking the Patriots at minus 900. So name the bet, type it up, write it in, and I’ll see if it makes sense. Taylor in the raffle. He says, “Just jumping in.” Well, you’re in, Taylor. Good call. Put him down. Uh, Jack says, “A fault game winner would be sweet.” Yeah, you think it? Of course it would. 1716, baby. Let’s go. Let’s see. 200 for 1,200. 100 for 600. I like it. I like it. Either way, I feel like I win because if I do the let’s say 100 for 600, I’ll make it back on the postgame show and it will be awesome. It’ll be a party. I don’t care if the Jets lose. Then at least I get a hundred bucks out of it. So you got a deal, Spencer. I’ll do the 100 for 600. I could do the 200, but I don’t want to make you pay 1,200 bucks. I know you have the Jets outright winning. He has the Jets outright winning. I just need the Patriots to win. Let’s Spencer confirm in the chat. That’d be the bet, right? So if the Jets win, I owe you $600. If the Patriots win, you owe me $100. I believe that’s what he’s articulating here, but I want to make sure we get that on the record so we can confirm it. So, confirm that, Spencer, and then we’ll go from there. He goes, “Lock it. I’ll send you a 100 right now.” You don’t need to send me anything, but All right. He’s confirmed it. I will take that bet with you. hundred bucks that I get if the Jets win or if the Patriots win, I owe him $600 if the Patriots lose to the Jets. So, to me, it’s a win-win. I’d be thrilled to give Spencer 600 bucks if it means the Jets beat the Patriots. Pay 600 every week for a Jet win. Yeah, believe me. Uh, if people have any idea how much better my shows do when the Jets actually win, as rare as it’s been the last five years I’ve been doing this. Yes, we beat the Patriots. Like, yes, you’ll make that bet every week. I love it. All right, Spencer, you got a deal. You don’t need to send me anything, though. I’m in. Uh, with that said, let’s get to our last call right here, ladies and gentlemen. It’s time. Adam is cool, although kind of basic. He claims he’s too cool, though often quite basic. He makes great jet points. Looks a little basic. Adam is cool. Too cool but basic. Some would say generic. [Music] On mute. Hey Jake. Hey Nick. How’s it going? What’s up Adam? Nick, is that your first time seeing the intro? No, I just enjoy it every time I do. It’s such a good track. I just wish I didn’t make that ugly face at the end. But all good. That’s the cost of being an asmaniac. So thanks Gator. Awesome. You You are who Gator thinks you are in this community. That That’s what I’ve learned. I would say if the Jets continue to like be really bad as the season progresses, maybe the last clip of me continues to like walk into the gates of hell, but uh that’s a whole other story. Um is this the time where we really need to put Tanner Angstrand under the microscope? Um I know that there’s some things that we like about him, but in the end, the product is what the product is. Look, I I I think Angstrand has done some good things, but ultimately he’s coaching for his job down the stretch the same way Wilks is. I mean, Justin Fields is their guy, and he’s never been this bad. So, the offensive coordinator has to share some of the blame for that for sure. How often have we been screaming for a screen pass? They finally did it. Like, we need more than that. Yeah. What do you think, Nick? I think it’s really tough to get a read on him with Fields. you know, there there’s layers to an offense and a game plan that the games where we’re moving the ball, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, obviously, like, you know, it’s been better, but it’s it’s a very tough litmus test when you don’t have the quarterback throwing the ball on time to see what the scheme is truly meant to be, to see where the ball’s supposed to be, to see if guys are supposed to get catch and run ability downfield. So, I I kind of feel bad for him. But you you got to be able to adapt and make things work even when they’re not. That’s what the great ones do, right? You you find a way you find a way to attack the defense even when if if they’re exploiting you, you punch back. Yeah. I mean, there’s a couple things though. I mean, he was involved. He had to be some level of consultant consulted with as related to selecting fields. you know, in his presser, one of his first couple pressers, he talked about how he was trying to, you know, build on the strengths of the team. I don’t think we’ve seen any of that as the season’s progressed at all. I’ve seen a regression if anything. And, you know, if we’re going to get another quarterback, I feel like the package, I think you got to really look hard at the OC and just to be like, is he going to, you know, it do we need to pick a QB that matches a style that Angstrand is familiar with? Um or do we just you know go you know basically replace Angstrand next year? I mean let’s be real like whatever you think of of the candidates there’s going to be Dable and probably McDaniel will be available on the market as OC and do you trust that they could you know provide a better offense for this team next year and I think that’s why you got to look very hard at Angstrand now at least with Wilks you’ve seen player development. I think that’s an objectively true statement. What do you think on Wilks? Have we seen enough player development though? I mean, this defense, I think, is way more talented than the overall production so far. I think I think when you look at the young players, the improvement’s going to be there. Um, well, we a Thomas, Malachai, Moore, Malgoa. I mean, AZ has barely played and now he’s out. Malagoa, he’s been fine at times. Anyone else? Moore has been okay. Those have been the ones I mean, those are the ones I think that are that are out there. Has Will McDonald until this last game been better in this scheme this year? No. Jamon Sherwood? No. Quincy? No. Like they all finally had a really good game, but like what about the rest of the season? Sauce when he was here. Quinnon? No. Like I I think Wils has got to go. Honestly, I think he they modern DC, he should go. Yeah. I think also when you’re looking at players that were already recently paid versus hungrier, younger players that are looking for the paycheck, I think it is something to factor in. It’s just it’s just it happens, right? Sherwood got paid, then there was a drop. Um, you know, S got the extension, you know, Quincy got paid and then had an allp pro season following getting paid after 2022. We got paid was the first team allp pro in 2023. Isn’t that an exception to the rule though? traditionally across all teams. Not every guy gets paid and then all of a sudden just completely drops off. Yeah, that’s scheme too, right? Sherwood got paid off of what he did in the previous scheme and then Yeah, but they paid him. That’s what I’m saying. Like they they haven’t utilized him the same way. So it’s a little that that’s the biggest head scratcher so far for me with what Muji has done is saying that’s also probably Glenn saying this is our guy. Sign him. I want him to be the mic. You know what I mean? I agree also that like you can’t look at Hangstrand, not look at Walts. I think you’ll do look at both. I’m in agreement with you on that. But I do think that you can’t use Fields as a get out of jail free card for Hangstrand. I think that’s that’s kind of um it just doesn’t seem right to me. I think you got to look at the whole package and it’s like if we’re talking about strengths then all the things that we keep saying, right? Where are the designed runs? If Breeze can run the ball, why can’t Fields run the ball on designed runs? Like why can’t we block for a QB? Why have we gone through a whole season? I get it. like maybe the first three weeks, you know, the plays aren’t cooked, you know, haven’t draw been drawn up yet. But like now we’re halfway through the season and we we’re just seeing a lack of creativity and, you know, even if you credit Cleveland’s defense for being very good, it doesn’t you still need to see something like you have to be able to like dig yourself out of problems throughout the game and not get You got to throw the ball downfield once in a while. You got to get the defense. This was the problem for me with last year’s offense. Everything was down and underneath. Now granted, we threw at a greater volume, but everything was the defense could play downhill. We didn’t very often go downfield. If we did, it was like to the sideline, high percentage phase. Throw a little bit of that. Throw it to where it’s not trying to him read up the middle where he gets picked off like he did the other day. Throw the fade up the sideline, the back shoulder throws. Throw something to the perimeter where your guy’s got a chance to make a play. Maybe you get a pass interference, maybe you get a holding. just design some throws that get the defense thinking, all right, he might go over our head. We might have to play backwards as a safety once in a while instead of everything being downhill and aggressive because now you’re just you’re stacking everything against what Bree can do in the box. And even when he gets in the box, if you haven’t seen Baldi’s breakdown yet on uh Instagram or Twitter, Bree had the defensive tackle and the linebacker Blitz were right in front of him and he kicked it out and still made a 30- yard run out of it. So, you want Bree in space because he can embarrass people in space, but he can’t consistently and constantly do that against eight, nine in the box. We got to find a way to take the pressure off so he can be at his best. Yeah, definitely. I also think speed does matter, but I think that’s antithetical to what the offense was trying to be. It’s supposed to be a clock drainer, not a a quick pass offense. But, ironically, that might be what Fields needs, just quick passes, you know, to the outlet or quick pass. I think he he could do it, though. His release is so slow. he doesn’t process fast enough. Like, it’d be nice, but they don’t do it. There’s got to be a reason for it. So, it’s it’s a it’s a mismatch. And you go got go look at coaching and the game plan that this isn’t compatible with the quarterback that you keep pushing out. And there’s Doesn’t it concern you, Adam, that this is the head coach who said he’s never been coached properly. We’re going to be the ones to coach him up, let him play quarterback. Yeah. Well, I think I agreed. I think in the end you look at Angstrand’s history angstrand hasn’t worked with a quarterback like this you know so he either you know was able to adapt to it or not and I don’t think he’s been able to adapt to it I think a different passer you might see that competent offense but because Terrod is you know mysteriously still the second second string QB whether it’s injury or skill or something else you can’t see it but I think when you saw in the Tampa game the ball was flying flying out I mean you’re going to get I think here’s the thing too this whole like sensitivity on interceptions is that coming from coaching Because when you think about it, like Fields was like, you know, not throwing an interception. Cool. Pat in the back. But like when you Trod’s coming out, you know, there was an interception and it’s like you just you’re going to have to live with interceptions. The whole idea is to have a positive touchdown interception ratio. But that doesn’t mean you have to be afraid of like throwing the ball because you’re going to get interception. You just have to have the guts to make up for it and throw more than one passing touchdown. But it feels like, you know, we only have like we have no room for failure on the offense. We got to play like super conservatively and be and play scared. And I’m tired of seeing the Jets play scared. I think there’s way too much talent even on the offense to be scared. There aren’t a lot of like gaping holes except for wide receiver. But I think Mucci did a good job filling that talent up even if it’s in, you know, the second, third, fourth string. Like there’s there’s an improvement in talent. So for me, I’m like I want to see better offense over the course of the next couple of games. are like I think that you’re right the the OC and the DC you we really got to reconsider what we’re about to do you know as we get into the draft they’re coaching for their jobs down the the stretch there’s no doubt all right raffle’s coming shortly Ralphie Rock says Jake and Joy Spencer’s money at Chipotle on Friday I think it’s going to be ugly tomorrow for us hey it’s a win-win man I’d be happy to give Spencer $600 if the Jets beat the Patriots tomorrow I’d be thrilled it’d be worth it and if they don’t anotherundred bucks and I’ll give some memberships on the postgame show uh for the community all right we got to get to the raffle Here, ladies and gentlemen, it’s time. 1. Why do you lead every day with this “the media” narrative. I’m not a media fan IM A F’IN Jets fan we don’t care what he does with the Media

  2. AG was right, Rich wanted to jump ahead of his peers. Rich could have given the heads up before reporting it. I believe AG was holding that back so Pats have to prepare for Wilson. That’s what reporters used to do. There is a reason why some player hate Adam Schefter because he to like to jump the gun without checking with the player. AG is basically saying you want to jump behind my back to report injuries then ask Rich sources since you can’t wait until he reports it.

  3. I completely disagree with Nick that Belichek could get away with treating the media the he did because he won. Does Nick remember Belichek’s, btw sorry if I am misspelling his last name, media conferences in Cleveland? He was a jerk back then, continued to be a jerk in NE and is still a jerk. He did not win in Cleveland and could get away from being a jerk. The point here is that all of these coaches, including Glenn, are making their job’s harder by acting this way with team reporters. They have a job to do including breaking news before other reporters and you can’t blame them for that. NOW, I am not defending the media because heaven knows that they can be even bigger jerks and only focus on negativity.

  4. Cimini been doing his job alot longer than this arrogant idiot has been a head coach its so mind boggling this guy thinks he has to act like a tough guy

  5. AG clearly has a bone to pick with the media, probably stemming from all the way back when he played here. I actually don't mind it, at the very least it is entertaining lol.

  6. AG had a right to be upset. Cimini reported the injury before AG was ready to put it out there. How are you guys being so soft about this. You guys wanted a tough stern coach but cry about it when he is tough and stern.

  7. This is not a big deal. Cimini has been crapping on the team for years so he can take a little clap back. AG is simply calling out something that a vet like Cimini should know better. Especially with a short week, why give NE an advantage like Cimini did?

  8. It was not professional. Discussing injuries is a part of his job. Besides what did the other reporters have to do with
Rich Cimini. Take your beef to Rich.

  9. Wouldn’t it b amazing if Glenn does this so dat everyone especially the media is talking bout this instead of Garrett’s injury , Fields play , who is gonna b on field Thursday!! I mean look how much time was spent on Glenn & Media on this show!
