Yankees Fan Rich Eisen Reacts to the Paul Skenes in Pinstripes Rumors | The Rich Eisen Show

Paul Skins. Everybody, didn’t you hear how old Buster came in here and said how Paul Skins could make things really difficult for the Pirates in the way that you know an NBA player could make things difficult by demanding a trade. Very few NFL players get get the James Harden treatment, but sometimes it happens. And so Skins has said nothing. Tonight we will hear from Paul Ske because he is expected to receive the National League Sai Young award this evening. Those were announced tonight. But somebody on the Pirates has spoken to MJ.com, Advance Media, New Jersey. That’s named after the Staten Island Advance, which as you know is my former workplace. But anyway, Randy Miller covers baseball for that publication. And he spoke to a former or a current teammate uh Paul Skins. Put the headline up. Paul Skins has a Yankees dream. Trust me, teammate says, and Pirates quote unquote understand it. In the body of this article, who’s that? The unnamed teammate speaks out, New Jersey NJ advanced media, quote, “Trust me, he wants to play for the Yankees.” The skins teammate said, quote, I’ve heard him say it multiple times. A person with knowledge of the pitcher’s past intentions was also quoted unnamed. Skins grew up a big Angels fan because he’s from Southern California. He’s from Orange County. Uh he’s talked about going to the Arizona Fall League when he was nine or 10 trying to get Mike Trout’s autograph there. I used to think Anaheim was where skins wanted to go. Not no more. And so this was brought up to Ben Sharington, the Pirates general manager. Oh yeah, was asked about this by uh the intrepid reporter on this crucial beat. Uh the general manager of the Pirates, the executive’s reaction, quote, I do dismiss it, but I understand it. That’s why that’s in the headline. What we’re going to focus on is just how do we win games with him in a Pirates uniform. I have a ton of respect for the Yankees, but we’ll just focus on what we need to do. In a nice way, it’s really simple. Sharington said, because what matters most to schemes is what matters to us. Win more games. So, in a way, it helps simplify it and focus it. My conversations with him, the only thing we talk about is winning and how to do that. Says he will be Skins will be a pirate in 2026 for sure. He’s not salary arbitration eligible until 2027. According to this article, Skins wants a trade before he turns free agent in 2029. Trust me, he wants to play for the Yankees, the Ske teammate said. I’ve heard him say it multiple times. You know, I’ve never met Paul Skins. I’ve only seen his work. I’m a fan of his work, but I’m also a fan of his mindset and clear intelligence. I mean, and how to approach life. Who’s to argue? Who’s to argue how Paul Ske approaches life? Ber anyone? Well, if he wants to win a World Series, he’s winning. It seems like he’s winning in many aspects of his life. But yeah, but um but what do you want is you want a platform and to say that he wants to be a Yankee in a Mets town after Sodto has the way. If you want to go to New York and get paid, go to the Mets and have it fall completely apart. Listen, bro. Could you imagine? No, because you’re taking some the word of some nameless, faceless person. We all know this dude. He’s a teammate of Paul Ske. Yeah, it says who. And you cannot bismerch advance media. I would know. I’m an alumni of Advanced Media. Well, I’m just saying that. Or pardon me, as they say in Staten Island, Advanced Media. Okay. Could be a little bias. I know people who work for Advance Media aren’t just off. I used to be one of them. Damn straight they’re incredible. Answer my question. Damn straight they’re incredible. How dare you? I’m just saying I ain’t never heard of him. Well, you probably have read their publication. You just don’t know who owns it. All I’m saying is Paul Ske is smart and really good and this would be Paul. This is the as the Mandalorian once said, this is the way. I’d rather see him come to the Dodgers. Yeah. Than the Yankees. Yes. No. He wants to actually get the money now before he turns 45. So he’ll go to the Yankees. They’ll pay you now. Yeah, they will pay you now. It’s no there’s no layaway 401k. Keep your checks clear, baby. Yeah, that’s the way it rolls and keep everything. Oh man, I saw that this morning and I almost vomited. Actually, I think just I I even printed out the headline just so I can have it here in my in my in my drawer. Uh, I printed out the headline. I can’t wait till it doesn’t happen. Yeah. Paul, I I think it’s probably Guys, guys, guys, Paul Skins has a dream. Oh jeez. Oh my goodness. He’s living out his dream right now. As you can see, all you got to do Yep. All you got to do is just have eyes and be somewhat aware. Instagram account. I don’t know what you’re referring to, sir. I follow at rich eyes and showing. That’s about it. Yeah, me too. Yeah. But um he’s got a dream. And who’s who’s to deny this man his dream? He’s gonna be a Sai Young award winner tonight. Steve Cohen will deny. I have a dream. I have a dream. I have a dream. Trade for him. 2027 season. Oh gosh. Opening day pitcher. Well, let’s give it to Garrick Cole. I mean, because he’s been around still there. Uh and then I don’t know. Course lifetime contract. Um, so, so G, let’s give Gary Cole opening day start and then, and then it’ll be then it’ll be freed because you, you know, you don’t have back-to-back ridies and then, and maybe you go to your third starter, Skins. Yeah, he’s the third starter. I don’t know. He’s number one, bro. Let’s give him number one. Deny him. Yeah. I mean, while there’s Cam Schlitler while we’re dreaming. Let’s get him. Oh, and then there’s Rodone. So, those are your five. Okay, man. Berdone’s your fifth starter. If if if if Boy, there’s a lot of ifs. But man’s got a dream and the Pirates get it. How about the GM’s like, I understand it. I understand it. And that’s his way of saying, “We’re not winning enough around here. We start winning. He’ll want to stay. It is a beautiful stadium. It is a great city. It is a great fan base. I totally get it.” But you know what? It’s not a dream. It’s not a dream. And if you’re Paul Ske, if you’re Paul SK, you know what Paul Ske is? He’s a dreamer. He used to read Word Up magazine. He’s a dreamer. And who to deny him that dream? Was just a dream. Not me. Not you. Not the Mets. Get out of here. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. Check us out every single day streaming live on Disney Plus and the ESPN app. 12 to 3 Eastern.

  1. The the Pirates traded away David Bednar, one their greatest closers, to the Yankees for a bag of chips so it’s defiantly possible they trade Paul for a can of Sprite 💩

  2. No team is outbidding the Dodgers if he is made available. They have been aggressively hoarding prospects specifically for the day Skenes is made available. And the Pirates are not gonna want to trade him where he wants to go. If he wants to be a Yankee his best strategy would be to wait a few years. By then the Dodgers won’t want to offer a ton without the assurance he will sign an extension

  3. Man, baseball was my favorite sport growing up. It sucks that it's just a bidding war at this point that pushes out the smaller markets. As a Cubs fan, it probably sounds hypocritical, but I'd rather see the playing field leveled, than my team just win through buying everybody out.

  4. 1. The Pirates won't trade him for at least 2 years. No reason to. They'll get just as much trading him in 2027 as they would right now.
    2. The Yankees don't have nearly enough young talent to outbid teams like the Dodgers and Red Sox for Skenes.

  5. This is Pittsburgh's wet dream. They can get hall of fame production while paying Skenes pre-arbitration dollars. He ain't going anywhere until arbitration kicks in

  6. The Yankees farm system is a bit lacking for a skenes trade. Pirates have several years of control so they can say no except for a godfather offer. It’s pretty much the only thing that could make the pirates relevant again.

  7. Screw the BBWAA for what? miss information (fake news) & biased reporting. Buster Olney has no ethics and he sold his integrity a long time ago. Buster is a sorry excuse of a sports journalist

  8. Other Staten Island notable annunciations:
    Calamari = gallamad
    Radiator = Rad-iator
    Advance = ad-vance
    Btw, no one is mentioning that this article popped up at 1:52am? The writer was under a deadline to come up with a story so he made one up to meet the deadline at 1:52am and went to sleep.

  9. We don't need him. We have schlittler. Literally about as close as you can get. We have Fried, Rodon, and Cole is going to be coming back. Pretty darn good rotation without giving up the farm. And yes, Yankees pitching got blasted by the Blue Jays during October, but who the hell didn't besides Schlittler and Yamamoto? Plus, there's another guy from Japan that looks really good right now if the Yankees can get him. That being said, I do have a skenes rookie card and that value goes up if he joins a big market team like the Yankees.😅
