QUINN HUGHES ALREADY CHECKED OUT WITH THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS?
Happy birthday, Elias Person. Yeah, I guess that’s the right way to start this video out, right? November 12th, 2025. EP40 has just turned 27 years old, people. And uh yeah, he’s still making 11.6 million bucks. Okay, this is not really a PD video. I just wanted to break the ice with a pretty interesting tidbit of information. Happy birthday, of course, to Elias Person. This is a guy who changed the face of the Vancouver Conucks for better or for worse. Okay, we’re not going to go out there and talk about that. Sorry. Today, I wanted to talk about the other top paid superstar in Vancouver. And no, we are not referring to Thatcher Demco, who technically is also a highly paid superstar on the team at 8.5 million. But of course, we are shifting gears a little bit and talking instead about the captain of the Vancouver Conucks. Quinn Hughes is in a pretty interesting spot right now because as a guy who is in the contract predicament that he is in. It expires at the end of next season in 2027. He has been underpaid for the past few years at 7.8 million bucks a year. and he’s a guy who as of the past few games has finally started to put it together and finally started to produce consistently. Quinn Hughes is at what is that 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 points in his last six games. And yesterday we absolutely saw some of the best Quinn Hughes performances in the offensive zone that we have seen in a while. Not only are the passes that he’s making resulting in goals, but he was able to get himself that multi-point game, three points on the night. And even though there were some tribulations on the course to those three points, Quinn Hughes still put himself in a spot to dominate the game possession-wise offensively. He does that a lot. It’s Quinn Hughes, right? But I wanted to talk a little bit about the reaction and how things have unfolded ever since the end of yesterday’s Winnipeg and Vancouver game because we had ourselves the post of Quinn Hughes and his media availability after the fact. This was posted on to Twitter presented by the province. It was posted by Hughes Updates, your source for all three Hughes brothers, a Devils and Canucks fan. So, big shout out over to Hughes Updates on Twitter for giving us the video footage, but this was it. It was a short one minute thing. Quinn Hughes is looking as sad as he usually does at this point. It’s like, wow, is he really just like that all the time or is it kind of taking a toll on this guy? The amount of losing that happens in Vancouver these days also, especially with the Thatcher Demco news. But you can see just the clip. He goes out there and gets asked a bunch of questions. They ask him about Demco. They ask him about his injury. And Quinn doesn’t really, okay, I I want to use my words carefully here. Quinn doesn’t really get into super significant depth as to what he’s actually thinking in responding to these questions and answering what it is these reporters want to know. And it is totally fine to answer questions in the way that you feel comfortable in answering them. But at the same time, there is a certain standard I would say that needs to be hit as the captain of an NHL team. And that was highlighted and questioned by one Blake Price on Twitter. We’re going to take a look at this over here. So he posted this after the game. Quinn Hughes has three points but very little to say afterwards. Fiveword answers. He was asked about what Demco means to the team and he said, “We’ve talked about this before.” Followed by nothing. They asked about his injury. He said, “It’s a weird play.” That’s it. Come on, you’re the captain. Top reply from Tash says it was actually followed by a death stare. Another reply says, “I rarely ever criticize Quinn Hughes, but true leaders are better than what he showed during that scrum. Just talk for crying out loud. Just not needed. Agreed. Then we do have some other replies here. Big Sven says, “I love Quinn and as a fan, I’ve never watched anyone like him on our team before. That said, he is so gone. He wants out badly.” Legit question. Would we get more for him if we traded him at this deadline rather than next deadline? And that is a conversation for another day. But Ken goes out there and says, “You don’t trade a generational player, the best Dman in the history of the franchise. Don’t be crazy. You fix the team around him. You also bring in protection. Half their starters are injured. He’s frustrated.” The Quinn Hughes discourse has gotten to a pretty interesting spot because no longer are we talking about him performing poorly. Now the conversation has shifted to where he’s actually showing up and he is performing very well. But there is a very evident level of frustration that is presented when he does these postgame scrums. And just when you read the body language on and off the ice, you could reasonably come to the conclusion that Quinn may or may not be quote unquote done with this team. And it’s something that I think a lot of Kucks fans will painfully painfully try to ignore, but it’s something that I think we should go out there and at least acknowledge. Other replies are going out there and saying, “What the hell is he supposed to say to these stupid questions?” Management has completely botched this team. He has no one to pass to. It’s a joke. He’s gone. This team is going nowhere fast and he knows it. These are going to be some very long years. Let’s go out there and read some of the quote tweets to this post made by Blake Price. He’s clearly mad, whether that’s at the team management himself or all three. But then we do have some folks going out there and defending Quinn. Sarah goes out there and says, “Brother, he dislocated his shoulder and had an over 4-minute shift at one point. What else do you want him to do? Start composing epics on how much he loves his goalie? You want a Shakespeareesque soliloquy?” And I guess that there is a reasonable thought process behind that response. Like, hey, do you need Quinn Hughes to be the most articulate, most conversational in that situation at that time? No. But at the same time, I do think it’s appropriate to say, hey, like you have a job to do. You’re the captain of an NHL team. Like five word answers are not going to cut it. And I’m trying to be a little bit easy because Quinn Hughes did have a very difficult time yesterday with the injury and him coming back. And of course, he produced so well and he’s very, very talented. He still is showing that talent today. But there are things that I think Vancouver Canucks fans have the right to question. You had MD Knuck going out there and responding here saying, “Hey, he’s checked out one foot out the door already. He wants to go to the East so bad.” Ayay, there are a lot of folks going out there and expressing their disappointment. Amina says that they’re sad, depressed. I don’t know what we’re going to do without a healthy Demco. And I guess at this point the answer is try to run Kevin Lankinan as hard as he can go, as much as he can handle, and then pray to goodness gracious that Yuri Patera can sustain an NHL backup position. We’ll see whether or not it actually works out, assuming Demco is out for a while. Here’s the tweet from Jeff Patterson. Kuck spokesperson said that Demco injury tonight is unrelated to the maintenance days he took off. So, it’s a new injury. Another injury. Yikes. That might be worse. No. Then you also had this Adam Foot’s press conference after the game against Winnipeg. Josh Elliot Wolf tweeted, “I don’t love that Bluger went from skating and probably the next guy back to more likely that he won’t play on the road trip.” So, hey, if Quinn Hughes is feeling the blues, if he’s already got his foot out the door, it’s not like these pieces of news are going to help him and wanting to stick around here, isn’t it? I don’t know. I think as a Vancouver Conucks fan, I have already submitted myself to the idea that this team is not going to be a playoff team and that they’re not going to accomplish what it was that they thought they had accomplished and they don’t have the personnel to be able to do that. Like, if everything went right, it would have been good if everybody was able to play their best and they were not hurt. It would be so good. But hindsight is 2020 and now hindsight is really looking like the devil in disguise here because everybody’s, oh yeah, Arthur Sheilovs is doing well. Kevin Lanken is shaky, but he’s getting some wins and Thatcher Demco got this huge contract and he’s not available anymore. This guy’s never going to play 50 games in a season again. Oh, did they trade the right guy? They traded the wrong guy. Oh man, my brain is starting to hurt. Cheering for this Vancouver Conucks team. But you know what? It’s pain that we’ve been used to, baby. We’ve been seeing this, feeling this, and living in this for years. So, what else is new, right? New coat of paint, but it’s still the same old shell of a team and the problems underneath. Is Quinn Hughes out the door? Halfway out the door? Does he have one foot out the door? You can let me know your thoughts in the comment section below whether or not that’s the case. I hope you enjoyed this V9 and bye.

He's already made up his mind. Can you blame him?
I don't blame him. Quinn is a winner, winners want to win.
The Vancouver management and ownership seem hellbent on keeping the Canucks organization as the definition of Mid
They will never get better when the management just keep bandaid fixing every issue.
At 27, Petey acts more like a 17-year-old. Hughes' post-game comments are depressing.
It still kills me that Ken Holland took Zadina over Quinn Hughes.
In general I would agree with the guy who said you don't trade a player like Hughes, you fix the team around him, but:
– the Canucks have so many no movement clauses with highly paid players that fixing the team isn't an easy task
– their time to do it is very limited and
– you have the situation with his brothers, where even if the Canucks pulled off the magic to build a cup contending team for next season, there is no guarantee that Hughes would stay. If he wants to play with his brothers, he will go no matter how well you fix the team around him.
Also, Hughes is elite, not generational.
But in short, it would be best for the Canucks to trade him this deadline instead of next.
Trade Hughes to NJ for Dawson Mercer, Simon Nemec, plus 2026 (top 15 guaranteed or else transfers to 2027) 1st round pick. We get a legitimate (potential) 2C, defenseman, and a decent prospect from the 1st rounder
He's allowed to be angry he lets his leadership show when he's on the ice I don't blame him he's only human. Don't trade him that would be stupid. The worst part about it is he's not going to let us know his plans. If we get the slightest idea he's not going to resign trade him for everything you can get. Throw EP40 in to the deal I don't wanna see him anymore.
Oye…🙄😬😮💨
he is definitely leaving lol
they will trade him when he doesn't re sign, I think Tampa get's him
There is no better time to rebuild. If Hughes wants out, 3 way trade to get Bedard here. Then draft McKenna or whatever position we get, deep draft this year. In 3 or 4 years we will be competitive again. Bedard will be 24 or so by then, but he might stay with us because he is a diehard Canucks fan.
Of course, if we are rebuilding anyways, we can also sign Bedard off free agency when the time comes. There is no rush anyways.
I said this when we traded Silovs and got a ton of flak even from my Canuck hating colleagues. As much as I like Demko and want him on the team. I think we would’ve been better off keeping Silovs. There’s virtually no point in having the one of the best goalies ever if he’s only going to play a handful of games per season now. Especially with the rest of the team being the state it’s in.
We can build the team around Quinn but only if he wants to stay.
Have you guys ever seen Jack interviewed? It's like a hostage video. Maybe it runs in the family. I wouldn't worry about it.
Big time checked out 😢
His value is the highest now. Trade him now.
Quinn deserves to be in Edmonton … I’ve been saying this for a month or so, he looks sick and tired of nucks, like as in a sick person that has not been fed at all 😮💨 . Let’s just hope the nucks again miss the playoffs by 2-4 points again ❤
