Things Just Got VERY INTERESTING For The New England Patriots…

[Music] The next couple of weeks could have a huge impact on the Patriots playoff status. They’re eight and two right now and they’re also tied with two other teams for first place in the AFC and they also are looking ahead and trying to be that number one spot in the AFC East. Welcome into Patriots Today by Chat Sports. I am your host Brett Alpert and on today’s show we are going to talk about all the playoff implications. We have reached the halfway point through the NFL season and now we got to start talking about the playoff picture. So here is your current playoff picture going into week 11 of the NFL season. You see the Colts, the Broncos, and the Patriots all at 8-2. They are all tied right now. Unfortunately, somehow the Broncos have the tiebreaker over the Patriots. And the Colts, they just look great. Except for last week against the Falcons. They’re at the number one spot. And but you see that number six seed. The Buffalo Bills are still right behind the Patriots, but they are a game and a half up. This is going to take a hu this is going to be a huge impact for the Pats, and they got to keep on winning to stay ahead of the Bills, but also look at that number one spot. Now, before we break it all down, today was a huge moment in Patriots history as Rob Gronkowski signed that one-day contract to retire as a Patriots. So, show him some love. Spam your 87s down in the chat. All right. So, talking about the beginning of the season, it was could the Patriots make the playoffs? Could they win enough games to maybe be that seven seed? Well, that’s not the case anymore. It’s no longer can the Patriots make the playoffs. It’s okay, you’re going to make the playoffs. What are what is the ceiling for the Pats? Well, the ESPN, they came out with their analytics talking about their chances to win the AFC East and their chances to win the Super Bowl. Chance to make the playoffs, you pretty much have to lose the rest of your games. You have a 94.7% chance to make the playoffs, 70% chance to win the AFC East, and 9.5% to win the Super Bowl. And I just want to give a big shout out to the Dolphins. When do we ever say that? But right now, you are about a half game ahead of the Buffalo Bills because they had their bye-week, you didn’t, but since the Miami Dolphins beat the Buffalo Bills, you’re now a full game and a half and they have three losses and you only have two. So, if you look at the standings, you can see these two teams way at the bottom. You don’t have to worry about them at all except for the Jets tomorrow night. But the Patriots at 8-2, and it’s looking like we have full control of the AFC East and the Bills 6 and3, but you know that you kind of have to keep winning games. The Patriots control their own destiny here going forward. Obviously, if they won the rest of their games, if they win out, which is high prob, it’s not really that much of a possibility because you got to assume that a win is going to happen or a loss is going to happen at some point. But if you win out and the Bills went out, well, you got the tiebreaker, you have more wins, less losses. You will get that AFC East championship that we’ve been dying to have for the last six years. And the strength of schedule, it favors the Pats 338 compared to the Buffalo Bills who they have a tough schedule coming up. They have over 500. Their opponents are really, really strong. And if you look at the Bills remaining schedule, well, the Patriots just beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming off a buy in their own building. Well, the Bills have to go up against that team now. And they are going to be pissed off and hungry. The Texans, they came back from a crazy game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Steelers, I really don’t know how to assess the Steelers. The Bengals, Joe Burrow could come back. Then they go into Foxboro to play us. Browns, okay, they suck. And then the Eagles. Week 17 could be a huge, huge game determining Well, that could have huge AFC East implications just in case if the Bills beat us at in our own building. But that’s four opponents over 500. Four of them. They have a tough tough schedule. And it doesn’t get easier for the Buffalo Bills, but for the New England Patriots, it gets way easier. Way easier for the Pats. You beat the Falcons. You beat the Buccaneers. You play the Jets, the Bengals, you have the bye-week, week 14. Week 15, you go up against the Bills. Week 16 at the Ravens. Then the Jets, and then you end the season with the Dolphins. Those are way too easy games. And if you look, well, week 13, you also play the Giants. It’s not on the graphic, but if you you play the Giants, but those are all teams that are under 500 except for the Bills in week 15. So, week 15 matchup, that’s going to be huge for us. And they’re coming into our building and it’s going to probably be moved from a 1:00 p.m. Eastern time. And I think that the Patriots, they have the opportunity to sweep the Buffalo Bills. You beat them in their own building. Yeah, they’re going to be pissed off, but you’re playing your best football right now. And Josh Allen, he’s not looking too great. There’s a reason why Drake May passed him in the MVP odds. All I got to say is just don’t get comfortable. Do not get comfortable at 8-2. You still have a whole schedule in front of you and you do not want to let up and have the Bills come back. We’ll worry about the AFC, the first seed, in a little bit, but right now it’s fully on the AFC East. You want to win that division. You want to get a home playoff game and you cannot get comfortable, especially when they’re going to be hungry and want to take you guys down just because they also hate the Patriots. All right, I want to show you guys what we did at the beginning of the show. kind of show you guys the AFC playoff picture again. And you see right there, the Patriots are at the number three spot. If the season ended today, they would take on the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs, but they’re tied with the two seed and the one seed. It’s very possible the Patriots could win and the Denver Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts could lose their next game and the Patriots immediately jump to that one seed. There’s a reason why you have a bunch of games left to play. And the strength of schedule, you already saw the Patriots at 338. A lot of the teams are under 500. The Colts, they have an extremely tough schedule. And the Denver Broncos, they’re exactly at 500. They’re middle of the pack. They’re like 15th. But we’ll talk about how I think they’re complete frauds in a little bit. But I think the Patriots have the advantage to overtake both of these teams. With the teams that you have to play and the teams that the Colts and the Broncos are going to be playing, it’s a lot easier path for the Patriots than it is for the Colts. You look at the Colts remaining schedule. Yeah, they’re coming on the bye-week, but you got to go up against the Chiefs. Then you got to go up against two divisional opponents in the Jags and the Texans. The Seahawks I consider the best team in football. That’s week 15 down the line and it’s in Seattle. I’m going to guarantee that one as a loss. And the 49ers, they’re going to get healthier by week 16 hopefully for them. So, you got to mark that up as a loss. That’s two I’m guaranteeing two losses right there with at the Chiefs and at Seattle. There’s critical games for the Colts, a lot more than the Patriots. A lot harder games than New England Patriots. I don’t think the Colts stand a chance against the Chiefs. I think the Chiefs are coming back as being Yeah, we’re still here. And like I said with the Seahawks, they’re one of the best teams for the Broncos. It’s just as hard as we got producer Moose, the host of uh the Broncos breakdown, which he’s not going to like what I have to say about them in a second, but they go up against the Chiefs this weekend and uh JK Dobbins isn’t playing. I don’t think Pat Sertan is playing. They’re cooked. Then you go up against Commanders, the Raiders. Those are two easy games, quote unquote easy games. But the Packers, the Jags, the Chiefs again, and then the Chargers in week 18. And the Chargers, they look really good. For me, I’m only nervous about the Colts. I think the Colts are actually a pretty good team with their defense. The Broncos are complete frauds. Bon Knicks does not have it. Their offensive line isn’t that good. and their defense, that’s what’s carrying them. But if the offense is holding them back and the defense is carrying, at some point it’s going to fall off the rails. They have three specific miracle wins, and I’m calling these miracle wins because they should have lost all of them. I didn’t even put the Jets game on here. You got the 10-7 win over the Raiders, which just got lucky because the Raiders special team sucks. The Texans, they struggled and somehow someway, which is why Brian Dable got fired that they beat the Giants after being down by three scores in the fourth quarter with five minutes to go. They’re not that great. And people have to realize that. And the only people who don’t realize that are Broncos fans, which is why everybody’s feuding just like it’s 2015 again. Bo Nick is is not him. He can’t throw the ball over the middle. And soon it’s going to crash and burn. There’s a reason why Drake May is the MVP favorite. And if I wish that the Patriots played the Broncos, because then the reality check would come to Denver fans. And of course, Vegas, they know that they’re frauds. They have the odds to make the one seed. And who’s at the top? The New England Patriots at 210. Tied with the Indianapolis Colts. And guess all the way down? The Broncos. Way bigger odds. way bigger odds because they don’t think that it’s possible for the Denver Broncos. Still got the Chiefs there at plus4 950 which is uh a little bit interesting but I like the Patriots odds to get the one seat. You just got to keep on winning. Keep on winning. And right now I’m not worried about the future. I’m worried about tomorrow night’s game against the Jets. Your 13-point favorites. But it’s a divisional game, short week. These are always a little bit trappy. So, the Patriots, they cannot look ahead. You got to look to literally tomorrow night. And we will be live for it 700 p.m. Eastern time.
