Wow RIP
Legend RIP
Oh no. RIP Brooksie, you were always entertaining.
Wow, guess it was really serious. Love him or hate him, the man was almost as a big a part of this organization as anyone who wore the jersey. RIP and keeping good thoughts for the family.
Oh shit! It was only a few weeks ago I was watching him on a podcast. RIP.
RIP
As a Rangers fan since 1979 I don’t know how many of your articles I read but I didn’t miss many. Thank you for doing what you did. RIP Mr. Brooks
Woah wtf RIP
Brooks talked truth to power. He will be missed.
Wow! RIP Brooksie. Didn’t always agree with him, but the guy is a legend.
Holy shit. RIP Brooksie. He was as much a Rangers staple as anyone.
We’ve been spoiled to have Brooksie covering our team. Every Sunday since I was a young man, I looked forward to his Slap Shots column. He wrote with insight, inside information and rationality on a sport that didn’t always get the attention it deserved. But we had A hall of fame journalist giving us all the information we craved on a daily basis. The New York Ranger fanbase will assuredly never be as informed and entertained ever again. As stupid as it seemed, I will forever call the Hurricanes the Candy Canes and the Panthers the Puddy Tats.
My thoughts are with his family. Thank you for sharing him with us for all these years.
RIP Brooksie
I feel bad now. Damn poor guy. RIP
I loved reading his stuff and especially his hot takes, I always thought he was either spot on or spectacularly wrong, but still in an entertaining way. Much like most sports fans and their takes tend to be. He always came across as a guy you’d love to grab a beer with and chat shit about the Rangers with.
I think those Redden and Tortorella clips turned him into sort of a meme from which his reputation took an unfair hit. Especially whenever some Larry article was posted to that cesspool r hockey and you’d have a bunch of people who never read a single article from the man maligning him.
Rest in peace Larry
Ranger fan since 77. Brooks and Walt McPeek from the Star Ledger were my go to Ranger writers
Damn… RIP. I really enjoyed the Up in the Blue Seats pod. Hes a legend
Very nice tribute in the story there
Damn. Rest in peace Larry. That sucks
He is so intertwined with Rangers history. I loved how he would call out their bs when it was being glossed over in telecasts. Very sad news. Prayers for him and his family. He certainly touched a lot of Rangers fans.
This sucks. RIP Brooksie. Your Tortarella interactions are the stuff of legend.
Oh wow, wasn’t a real fan, but he was a connected part of the Rangers. RIP.
Wow. Larry was a giant, especially for those of us who grew up before blogs, podcasts, etc. His takes were sometimes insane, but he knew how to start a conversation. RIP. He’s antagonizing angels in the press scrum now
