Caleb Williams big boy throw- shows trust in Luther Burden throwing the ball before Burden beats his man

  1. I’m excited about the passing game! Not sure I thought that was possible to say about this team ever.

  2. This was probably my favorite throw from the game for this exact reason. I can’t remember the last time I saw a Bears QB throw with anticipation like that

  3. It really feels like Caleb’s gonna be throwing to Rome and Burden for 10+ years here, it’s exciting to see the three of them progressing in this offense

  4. This is how NFL offenses are supposed to work, you have to throw on time and with anticipation. If Caleb waits until Burden makes his cut and “beats his man” it will be too late and there is a good chance the DB breaks on it and it turns into a pick 6.

Awesome that Caleb can make this throw in such a big spot, but it shows how bad we’ve had it as Bears fans that a relatively routine NFL throw is such a big deal. This why Fields was never going to be the guy.

  5. Said it in my film notes in the morning after thread:  he started throwing that *before* Burden even started his break.

And yet every week, someone tries to tell me he can’t throw with anticipation.  Because people don’t actually learn about QB play and watch film, they just have a set of pre-written cliches about QBs and repeat them.

The timing on that play is what gives Burden a chance to set his feet and play for YAC, and he drives it down another 10 yards.

I’m starting to suspect the bears’ best 11 on offense is a 12 formation involving Odunze and Burden.

  6. This is a great throw and anticipation but in fairness, we used to practice these catches as WR’s when I was in Middle school. You ran out and turned and the ball was already in the air on the way. This is how the game should look, we just haven’t seen it in 20 years in a Bears uniform.

  7. It was by far my favorite pass of the day. Caleb throwing with anticipation and Burden’s timing on the comeback just as the ball was getting to him was just magical.
That was like the stuff Manning and Harrison did that defenses couldn’t stop.

Just dreaming this is a regular bread and butter play going forward

  8. I grabbed Burden off the waiver wire in fantasy. It just seems like he’s slowly taking over for DJ.

  9. I was in a straight line behind this throw in the stands, at first I thought it was a miscommunication then Burden slammed on the brakes. Thing of beauty.

  10. I wish we had a weekly thread for film notes because I see a lot of cool stuff that I don’t wanna make its own thread for, but I think people would enjoy seeing.

Like how we were trying to run a hook and lateral from Odunze to Moore here, but Moore got caught up in the line and wasn’t there so Odunze just kept it.

  11. That is considered “NFL open” and should be a minimum expectation that you throw that when he did…just sayin. And I like Caleb so it’s not a dig on him.

  12. Big boy throw, big boy route and catch. Being a Bears fan for so long…it just feels good to see well executed offense.
