NBA Mini: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Los Angeles Lakers | Extended Highlights
kind of signature games where you can kind of get a feel for where your team is at. [Applause] Wallace is a special defender, but he’s got his hands full tonight. The size and strength of Duchima rattles in a three. What I like about that play from uh from Luca is that after he made that one pass and then Chad Homegrren came over to block it, then all of a sudden he sees Chad Homegrren slipping in and gets it over to Rude. Wallace takes Donic off the dribble and gets the layup. Two secondyear players as Reeves lost it. Mitchell good defense. Tips it ahead. An easy two and a throw down for Mitchell. Offense off of your mistakes with the basketball. Alred picking up Donic step back. Likes that step back three and nails that one. As we said at the top, averaging 37 points per game. [Music] [Applause] already had 40 plus three times. Gilders Alexander his three-pointers. He’s already hard enough to guard. If he gets that kind of separation, it’s impossible for Matt to SGA. The soft touch with the one hand runner. He’s one of the best in the business, but he’ll talk a little trash with you. So, if you lived in Norfolk, he does not get your vote for mayor. Is that what you’re saying? Nice move from eight and a foul. Head is always up. Best thing about him, he’s got the size to make any pass on the court. Some opening minute had a five-point lead. now trail by 10. Eighton on a good entry pass from Dantic on the road to the title last year for OKC. Nice fake goes inside and Vanderbilt did an excellent job contesting and authoring that shot. Donets the runner draws the foul, banks it home and one will take a timeout. Donets deflected Caruso. That’s five turnovers for the Lakers already. Isaiah Joe gets inside, finds Caruso. Nobody near him, so he shoots and scores. Once again, the Thunder defense, the number one story right now as Gilus Alexander knocks down his second three, but he live with three and there’s just not a lot you can do. Jake is in a good spot. He contest it. That’s almost homegr looking to help. Reeves gets the rebound. Who’s Man Jang in the game right now. Reeves blocked by Homer. Second block of the game. Here comes Caruso. Mitchell walks into a three. Nails it and a foul. Once again, the defense leads to opportunities at the other end and the 13-point lead. Thunder won their first eight games, then lost by two to Portland as Hartinstein throws it down over there. I can’t blame his teammate for not going after possession. Oh, Mitchell to Hartenstein. A perfect connection. Had the presence to concentrate and put this basketball exactly where it needed to be placed. And you can see beautiful move inside. Flips it up. Long go. Rebound tip to Reeves. Caruso comes from behind, knocks him down, and takes the steal. Here’s homegrown. Caruso three-pointer puts it in. Caruso is having none of it. That’s just a dead sprint. Making a play on the ball and then caps it off by just trailing into this three. Demoralizing for the Lakers on both. Marcus Smart barrels into Isaiah Joe. They say play on. Hongren with the rebound. [Applause] Homegrren showing his handle. Spins shot. Got it. That’s a sevenfooter making that move. Look at Chad right here. And he just knows at the end of this he’s just bigger. Reeves poked away. This is a defensive clinic here in the first half. Isaiah Joe scoots in and banks it home in a crowd. Crossover ooze from the crowd. Gilas Alexander scoops it in. Right now you’re seeing the best team in the league play at their highest level. Lakers don’t have a field goal in this second quarter. Williams the homerren. Dangerous pass. Smart able to get it. Has to put it up. Shot clock winding down and knocks down the three for the Lakers. And think about what they just went through to get points on the board. Really a desperation shot by Marcus Smart with the clock winding down. Isaiah Joe comes right back with an answer. [Applause] 10 points in 10 minutes off the bench. Caruso and there yet another turnover, the 11th for the Lakers, only one for OKC. And I think that one really, as I say, Reeves trying to get on track. Hartinstein right with him. Reeves nice turn around. his third field goal. Oh, beautiful pass and Hartstein throws it down. The left-handed bounce pass from SGA. Hartinstein willing screener. Great hands on the dive. Weak side rotation is late. Yeah, that’s Maliko. What’s just incredible about their start. They’re 11 and one largest differential and one of their key players has not played. Alexander knocks down that shot. They’re also missing tonight. Right back to SGA. Gets inside. Kase Wallace batted around Jaylen Williams. Quase Wallace with the slam. That gets the crowd on its feet. Wallace skies and throws it down. Defensive player of the year. You love it when you see guard on guard dunks. Marcus Mark tries it. a lot of teams have talked about this year when you ask Ari what’s different about your team as Gilgus Alexander gets inside little razledazzle there and Reeves a combined one of 11 from three-point range [Applause] the mid-range maestro does it again it’s that shoulder with the space he creates so it’s that 6 ft back Carlson [Applause] Oh, beautiful pass. Connect on the slam. Final seconds. Shot clock turned off. No fouls to give. Behind the back, Isaiah Joe punts it in. An exclamation point to end the third. The dominance success with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but also because of his philanthropic work, guys. And I asked Mark Dagenald about this achievement, and he said that not only does Sam do the job. Absolutely, Mikica. what he’s done with this franchise and and the whole plan was to set it up where they could win multiple championships as Shang gets a nice pass from Isaiah Joe and then Joe on the steel. Joe fires away and Reeves shocked that that didn’t go down. The culture uh and not just the players how he as fires away knocks down a three the way he selected Mark Dull have a lot of talent. Nice entry pass. Pressy does tell a story his first year as general manager and to drive him to the facility as Mitchell gets inside and Kurt Thomas is chatting back and forth with him on the on the ride to the facility. Finally says to him as Reeves banks it home. Jaylen Williams steps back and knocks down the three from three-point range. Daddy’s going to try again and knocks down another. Now you see the the intensity pick up again. These guys getting a chance to play. Jang Maxi Clea if he could stay healthy and he hasn’t been healthy last year. He was a good support player as connected that good passer. So you can run offensive plays through him and you got to respect his shot. But he just like you said he hasn’t stayed healthy. Can there be a trap game after you lose by 30? Yes. Cuz you don’t you don’t take New Orleans as serious as you should cuz you’re looking forward to Milwaukee ending this road trip. [Applause] Coming up on 3 minutes remaining. Vanderbelt gets inside, banks it home. And a guy in Jaylen Williams who plays both ends of the floor and not having Lou Dort for an extended period of time, one of the best defenders in the league. And they’re still now about to be 12 and one. [Applause] Maxi Clea, a rare three-pointer to go down on both ends. Nicknamed Sugar. Michael Ray who Magic Johnson said, “Boy, he played like me.” He passed away as well. Three three men who just love the game. As with him in my career, you talking about the definition of class and grace. Uh so it’s a big fraternity we’re all part of and it’s always sad to get that news. They just continue to impress. Another great start. You always wonder about, you know, do you lose a little bit of a hunger if you as Oklahoma City improves to an NBA best 12- one. They stay undefeated here at home at 6-0. The Lakers fall to 8 and four. It’s on ESPN on Disney Plus. Turn it on.
