Teams know this is the game plan. Have to do better in defending the 3.

  1. Tbf, this was the same problem we had last year and years before that as a team. Mike Brown teams have been better at defending the 3 in the past and given he listens to assistants, we’ll figure it out

  2. Uh…12/33 is not a lot of makes or attempts. There are 25 NBA teams that average more than 33 attempts per game. That was not the problem.

They outrebounded us and got a bunch more free throws. Slowed down our offense. Their shooting wasn’t an issue.

  3. Dude just yapping. They arent a good 3pt shooting team so why would that be the game plan? they had ~50 point in the paint and made like two more 3s than their average.

  4. 3/4 press or full press, thats the one thing on D they dont do, and they cant do it because they dont have fast players aside from Bridges, they dont have a fast player, I forget homeboy name from the Cavs, but he’s Spider backup, he’s fast, Knicks dont have fast players like that. Last fast player was Quickley (no pun intended)

Edit: Garland, he’s fast, Knicks have nobody that fast

  5. Why do we pack the paint though that was thibs philosophy. When we have Mitch in we should let him defend the rim and everyone else the three

  6. And 95% of the time it’s Brunson’s man that’s shooting those threes because he’s too far deep in the paint.

  7. Sad part is packing the paint with Mitch at this ridiculous 15 mins per game meaning it’s not really packed.

I tried telling someone this that countered my defensive argument with the Knicks are 29th efg. That means they were giving up the 2nd Highest 3 point efficiency lmao.

Paolo getting hurt was also a blessing indisguise. He probably would have had some shot swatted or contested shots and missed free throw or two.

  8. I mean the gameplan against orlando is to let them shoot 3s lmao i dont think we lost bc we got shot off the court so idek what this means

  9. Isn’t this the current game plan for every team in the NBA playing any other team in the NBA?

  10. Can someone explain to me why athletes getting paid millions to play a sport they’ve nearly perfected have to dash after guys shooting wide open threes? And why the coaches creating defensive schemes also making millions with decades of experience can’t come up with a better way to defend.

  11. Meh – it’s true our wings guards are shorter than most and have trouble closing out in rotations. Especially if they get sucked in to the paint in penetration drives.

  12. 12-33 is nothing to write home about. but they did need to help brunson a lot and as a result left guys wide open too much. Brunson’s defense is hard to cover for especially against a team you can’t really hide him against.
