🚨 NFL BOMBSHELL! 49ERS TRADING WIDE RECEIVER FOR A BIG STAR! SEE WHO HE IS! SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS NEWS

The postgame Sunday edition of 49ers now brought to you by Toyota. The very smiley and dog accompanied Matt Mayoko. The always Yeah, the always happy, sparkly professional uh Jennifer Lee Chan. I am Carlos from Dogless today. I don’t have a dog with me today. We should really consider Jennifer having a behind thescenes cut of 49ers now so fans can hear and see what the shenanigans that happened behind the scenes. What do you think? Oh, you know, everybody always likes that to know what’s going on. How how the sausage is made. Everybody wants to know until now. Nobody wants to know how the sausage is made. Nobody. When I was like seven or eight years old, I went to an elementary school road trip and it was to one of these factories that makes like, you know, sausages. Yeah. No one wants to know that. It’s not It’s not fun. No. Unless you have plans to become vegan, then you do want to know. Exactly. All right, let’s cut it out. Let’s begin with Kyle Shanahan. Uh updates from today’s press conference from the 49ers and coach. Take a listen. All right, guys. Injuries from yesterday. Sam O with an ankle. He’ll be dayto day. Jordan Elliot ankle dayto day. Dwy knee dayto day. Alfred Collins shoulder dayto day. And M. Jones knee contusion dayto day. Kyle, are you any closer to getting Ricky Persaw back on the field? Um I hope so. Yeah, I bet he’s I mean I’m sure he’s doing better this week than last week, but um still haven’t been told that he’ll for sure be back. We’ll have to evaluate that when we get to Wednesday. And same thing for Brock. Um how is he doing? Is he Do you expect him or is it a long shot for him to play in New York? Um I think it’s too early to to say. I I don’t think it’s a long shot, but um I know he’s doing better. Um and we’ll see how he’s doing Wednesday. Hopefully if he’s doing good, he’ll get in some reps. Kyle, be before you left on Friday, you’d said that it there was a chance that Brandon would have the the window open. Uh was there just a a feeling that he’s just not ready yet or what kind of feedback have you gotten about that? No, I just I think it’s week to week from here on out that he’s got a chance. I think it would have it would have surprised me if if it was this week, but um that was just me saying that. Every week I think he’s getting closer to having a chance. Um just not this week. Uh, are both uh Jake Brendle and Bryce Huff likely to be out this week again? Uh, yes. Um, I’m not guaranteeing it yet, but um, pretty pretty unlikely. All right, Jennifer, you went back and did some injury mathematics for the fans here, and you found a season that even though unlikely, it it was worse than this. Even though this seems like everything is falling to pieces, every single game two or three players go, “Ow.” You did find a season where the 49ers, in your opinion, dealt with more and even more severe injuries, didn’t you? Yeah. 2020, I think, is still the benchmark for the worst injury played season for the 49ers. Let me just give you a quick list of the guys who are injured 112, which is about the same time frame, right? Uh, week eightish for the 49ers. It was Jimmy Garopppolo, George KD, Debo Samuel, Raheem Moster, Kevin Coleman, Jeff Wilson, Weston Richberg, Ben Garland, Jordan Reed. Those were all the starters. There were still more that weren’t necessary starters. Joan Jennings was on the practice squad and he was uh injured at the time. On the defensive side, Nick Bosa, Solomon Thomas, D Ford, Mark Naza, Richard Sherman, Jaquski, Tart, Ronald Blair, who’s now a defensive line coach, Julian Taylor, and Ezekiel Ansa. So, all of those play were players were out for week eight or week nine. Uh Matt, can they withstand this new 2025 version of the injury plague going into next Sunday against a team that is also dealing with their own version of the injury plague now with Cam Scanu being out for the season? Yeah, I they they can they have to play better football than they did Sunday against the Houston Texans. I mean, I I think that you and I watching the game made the uh clear and logical leap that because of all those backup players out there, that’s why the 49ers played so poorly. That’s why they weren’t able to generate a pass rush. That’s why they weren’t able to cover on the back end. That’s why the offense stalled. I think inside the building though, the 49ers believe that they have the answers. And it wasn’t that they were turning to all these backups. is because the guys who were on the field didn’t play as well as they could have and should have and maybe the the coaching staff didn’t put them in the right positions. Maybe they didn’t teach the lessons properly on how they were going to handle certain situations. Whatever the fact may be, if the players on the field had played anywhere close to what uh they thought they could play at heading into the game and what they’re capable of, uh it it’s not an 11point loss. And so they’re not going to be facing a a better team this week when they go play the Giants. Giants, there’s they’re dangerous, I guess, but I mean, they have their own injury issues. You know, their their best receiver, one of the best young receivers in the game isn’t out there. One of the best young running backs in the game isn’t out there. So forers have the the players uh you know the forers finished last place in the NFC West last year and and they’re playing the Giants because the Giants finished last place in the NFC East last year and right now the 49ers are closer to the top of their division than the Giants are to theirs. So it it is definitely a winnable game for the Niners heading into week nine. All right, what’s up Niner gang? Victor here and welcome back to another episode of 49ers Insider Report where we talk real football. No PR talk, no fluff, just passion and honesty from one diehard fan to another. And guys, we need to talk about Jawan Jennings because let’s be honest, it’s becoming pretty clear that Jennings doesn’t want to be here anymore. The deadline’s coming up fast and the question is, should the 49ers trade him before it’s too late? Let’s break it all down. Now look, this hurts to even say because Jawan Jennings has been one of those heart and soul kind of players for this team. We all remember the Super Bowl run. We remember that fire, that swagger, that dog mentality on third downs. The guy used to live for contact, blocking linebackers like it was nothing. But that Jawan Jennings, he hasn’t shown up this season. According to multiple reports, Jennings requested a trade during the off season after the Niners refused to give him the extension he wanted. And honestly, it’s been downhill ever since. He missed nearly all of training camp with that calf injury. Came into the season out of football shape. And now six games in, he’s got just 18 catches for 212 yards and one touchdown. Worse, when our quarterbacks target Jennings this year, the team’s combined passer rating is just 38.0. For perspective, if Brock Perie just spiked the ball into the dirt every play, the rating would be 39.6. That’s brutal, man. And the thing is, that’s not even all on the quarterbacks. Jennings looks off. The energy is gone. The route running sloppy. He’s dealing with ankle, rib, and shoulder issues. But even when he’s out there, it feels like his heart just isn’t in Santa Clara anymore. It’s like he’s clocking in, but not fighting for the logo on his chest the way we’ve always known him to. And you guys know me. I’ve always defended Jennings. Seventh round pick, underdog story, the definition of faithful. But at some point, we have to face reality. This team can’t afford passengers. We’re sitting at 5’2 fighting through a ridiculous list of injuries. Bosa, Warner, Floyd, even Debo. And we need guys who want to be here who’ll bleed for the golden red. Right now, Jawan Jennings doesn’t look like that guy. And here’s the kicker. Brandon Aayok and Ricky Pearl are both close to returning. Once they’re back, Jennings drops down to WR4, maybe WR5, depending on game plan. So, what’s the point in keeping an unhappy injured receiver who’s about to hit free agency? His contract expires after this season and any team that trades for him would have to fight to resign him in March anyway. So yeah, from a business perspective, it makes sense to shop him. But here’s the issue. His value isn’t great right now. Let’s be real. Jennings was a number one option last season when Aayak was out and he baldled. But that’s been his only season with starter level production. He’s never hit 1,000 yards. Not in the NFL, not even in college. He’s slow. ran a 4.7 in the 40-yard dash when healthy. And right now, he’s not even at 100%. Add in his attitude and the fact he’s a rental. Yeah, that’s not exactly a trade package that gets GMs drooling. So, what could the NerS actually get for him? Probably a fifth round pick at best. Maybe a sixth if no one’s desperate. Unless, and this is interesting, the NerS try to flip him in a draft pick for a player they actually need. Because let’s be honest, our pass rush is falling apart. With all the injuries to the defensive line, we could use another edge rusher badly. And there’s one name out there that makes some sense. Kavon Thibido. Now, before you freak out, hear me out. The Giants are desperate for wide receivers. They could use a guy like Jennings, big body, physical, tough, and Thibido, former firstrounder, under contract through 2026. So, imagine if John Lynch pulled off something like Jennings plus a fourthround pick for Thibido. That’s bold, but it’s not impossible. And I know some people might say, “Victor, come on. Jennings is still one of the best blocking receivers in football.” And you’re right, when he cares. When he’s locked in, there’s nobody better at blocking or fighting through contact. But when the motivation’s gone, that skill set doesn’t mean much. Maybe a fresh start gets him going again. Maybe a new team brings that fire back. But here in San Francisco, the spark’s gone. Ultimately, the 49ers are in a championship window. Every roster spot matters. If Jennings isn’t contributing, and if his energy is dragging, then maybe it’s time to let him go. Get something, even if it’s just a mid-round pick instead of losing him for nothing in the off season. And hey, if John Lynch can somehow turn that situation into help for our defense, that’s a win. So, Niner Faithful, I want to hear from you. Do you think the 49ers should trade Jawan Jennings before the deadline, or should we hang on to him and hope he finds that fire again?
