Harbaugh On AFC Standings & Jaguars | LA Chargers
Isard practice this week? Uh, he’ll be out there in some form of fashion today, as a matter of fact. And I got a list for you. Bobby Hart, Ted, Arande, Justin will all be out there at practice today. Some rest days. Uh, yeah. Thi’s going to have a rest day. And, um, yeah, I think so. and Brad Boseman. There’s a few K Matt Derwin. Um, how’d you feel like Austin Deculos played in the game? Yeah, I thought um, as I said after the game, the uh, Zion and Bose um, were graded out the highest. I thought they played extremely well. Uh, I thought Austin, Dulus, Mai, and Trey both played the game uh that that they had to play. Um, you know, winning football similar to u you know, Justin uh who played really good, took what the defense gave us and uh you know, played played uh good winning football. So, um, with Bobby coming back and, um, try getting more comfortable, do you feel like it’s going to be sort of a week- toeek situation? How you guys have been approaching the tackles as far as just seeing who emerges in the week of practice or do you feel like it’s sort of settled there as far as Trey and Austin or Bobby and Austin? Yeah. Well, like Trey, um Bobby coming back, you know, we’ll uh you know, see where they’re at. I mean, every time I mean a player gets clear to play, um you know, that’s one thing, but then they got to be better than they got to be better than another player. Um so, uh we’ll see where they’re at. Um and, uh Trevor, you know, that’s this is his second week. Uh so, yeah, these practices are are really important. How have we seen Trevor kind of settle in now that he has been here for a full week? Phenomenal. It was uh he did a phenomenal job uh uh settling in, getting getting up to speed. You know, he’s a smart football player. I mean, it was uh if I compared it to anybody, probably first name that jumps into my mind is Bobby Hart. You know, they they both uh came in and got up to speed real quick. You know, very important to them. and um they’re good football players. Still feel like Trevor is an option at both sides or you kind of identified one side that he has better shot of playing at. Um just like last week um you know he was he was more on the left side more on the left side. So um we’ll concentrate there for this week. little uh time just uh just game plan type of situation. What does he need to do to get back on field? Uh and Tony Jefferson was a healthy scratch, too. What do they need to do? Like what what happened there with them falling out of the rotation? I guess I would say Arand is this the starting tight end. Um and then Tucker Fisk. Uh he’s got to just keep doing what he’s doing, stay frosty, and uh and be ready to go. Tony. Tony. Yeah. How’s that in terms of how you how you look at how you view the position? Um you know, same um be uh keep working, keep uh practicing, and then you know the the great thing about the depth chart and is if you don’t like where you’re at on the depth chart today, you can You can change it. Change it tomorrow. So, uh, was Tony’s situation similar to Will’s when he was first enacted just as far as like Tony was coming off the hamstring? A little bit of clear to play, but just have to be better, right? Okay. Exactly. Is any of that still going on with Will or is he sort of now at the point where he’s sort of back healthy or is it still sort of a situation where yeah, he’s cleared to play but the knee situation is affected stretch from the game. I guess that’s the terminology you all use. Practices are really important. You know, there’s and I know you guys know that. I mean, the the timing, the the u you know, you get better at football by playing football and um that’s some guys have really stepped up. I mean, that’s a great thing. It’s a I mean, there’s the there’s the story, you know, my opinion. RJ Mickens, you know, um a wonderful game he had. Um you know, and great interception, but he’s really tackling well. um playing really good on third down, playing really good in the red zone. Um so that’s that’s kind of the way I would frame the question. And uh just with with Nico, how encouraged are you by sort of how he was able to play when he was in the in there at nickel and back? Yeah, you know, very similar to u to some of the um some of the other young players that have, you know, they get in, they play, they play well, you know, and then you you keep adding, you keep adding to uh their responsibilities, their roles. Um so I I would I would put him in in that ascending player category. you uh talked earlier in the year for AFC West game you kind of at two and a half. Where do you kind of rank AFC games? You guys six and one in the AFC up there pretty high. Yes, that’s there there’s definitely a tiebreaker there. You know, it’s the it’s it’s uh it’s practically the same, you know, as uh as we’re uh here in the the November month, December month. I mean, all games are are are important. All games count as one, but they Yeah, these AFC games teams uh fighting for playoff spots. I mean I mean I could see your math there working. I could see your math working as two and a half, you know. Do you spend much time looking do you spend much time looking at the standings after a week or two end of the season? Uh, sure. Yeah. Yeah. Look at it. Reason I ask is I covered a baseball manager to his name was Mike Soa. He claimed to never look at the standings ever. I didn’t believe him, but I believe you. I look at him. Yeah, definitely. Um, and you know, the answer is always going to come out to be the same. I mean, you got to take care of your own business. You can’t can’t rely on another team, you know. Um, not playing well or losing the team you want to win wins and it doesn’t usually work out that way. Works out the way that uh take handle your own business. the only game, you know, the the game that matters the most. I mean, practically all that matters is the one that we’re playing in. How impactful has Denzel been since he’s Look at that far out. Yeah. Um I I really would highlight him as I mean just watching the uh is really getting into the rhythm you know really getting into the groove of uh you know back uh it takes you know per our discussion earlier you know that uh those practices pay pay off those those game uh reps pay off and um you know I I see him like there was three textbook tackles in that where you know, you know, you come to your point, you deliver the blow, uh, you know, you roll the hips, face right there in the, you know, square, uh, wrap, take them to the ground, uh, type of tackles. And he three in this game and there was couple the game before and including the goal line stand. And, uh, that’s what I see. Yeah, I see him really kind of getting uh getting his best football. Now, do you think his his play style and just how violent he is in the run game has an effect on the players around him like when they’re on the field and they see him, you know, hit the way that he hits that they sort of feed off of it at all? Sure. Doesn’t hurt. Um, I think you I mean, uh, TV’s picked up plenty of, uh, instances where, you know, whether it’s Derwin or Justin, um, you know, somebody making a physical block or a physical tackle or a run, um, that, you know, a lot of times the cameras caught guys on the bench up, uh, you know, watching it and being inspired by it. Just what have you seen from Jacksonville? Yeah, it’s good. They’re really good. Uh they’d be the seven seed right now. Uh so uh they’re playing good. A lot of good players. Uh really good schemes in uh in all the phases and um yeah, they’re they’re going to they look like they’re tough to beat. And uh so that’s that’s our challenge. That’s our task. Um looking forward to a great day of practice today so we can make ourselves tough to beat with Tuli’s close to setting a career high in sacks. We’ve talked about him before just but just how is his ability to create pressure just taking a step this year and how has it opened up things for others as well for Tulie? Um all the things. I mean does everything right. Um, well, they should I’ve said to our social media team, they should they should film what he does pre-practice. Um, you know, it’s it’s rare the the the things he works on, uh, the flexibility, the range of motion, um, the agility, and that’s just that’s before practice even starts. Um yeah, everything uh just you know elite elite uh type of trainer. He trains an elite level. I know he was uh he was in our original in our original list of elite guys. Yeah. The elite nine. Elite 11. Then we had elite 12. Yeah. Yeah. Some more came. Yeah. But he was in the He was in the He rolls off the He definitely rolls off the the train of thought immediately. Has a Kabani impressed you at all with the way he’s been up. Yeah. What about understatement? Yeah. What about it has impressed you the way he’s um like I said um like I’ve been saying, you know, he’s um he’s playing like a number one back, not just on our team, but in the in the NFL this past game. Uh, you know, once again, very good in pass protection, uh, very good in, uh, running the football, seeing seeing lanes, seeing cuts. Uh, caught a pass. He, um, you know, he’s a he’s a plays with a he brings a very, you know, physical style to, uh, to his game. Plus, he’s he’s elusive. He can he can jump a gap. He can see a gap. Uh it’s it’s just all it’s all real good. Um so that’s what I’ve seen been yeah impressive. I’d say that’s an understatement. Um, football player.

Idk why they love Bozeman so much🤦♂️ guy is the absolute worst C in the league!!!! Entire Oline🤦♂️
If they sit Still/Hart, they'll have 3 more weeks to heal their knees
Hampton will be back in 3 weeks too
We win this week and our playoff chances are almost 100%. Then we have a bye week to heal up and make a case for the Division or maybe even the playoff bye.
i like the sound of that return to practice list!!⚡️⚡️⚡️
Stay Frosty. Where’s the Director?
harbaugh on a all time charger youtuber catch phrase roll
The fact that we gotta play both teams that knocked us out the playoffs the last 2 years this year don’t sit right with me 🫠🫠
Some people are saying because the Chargers won or because they now have a winning record it's okay to keep players on the roster who aren't polished players. There's a problem with that because then guys want to stop there. If the Chargers do win the super bowl with this same current makeup of players on the roster maybe a letter should be sent to the nfl that says the Chargers hereby do rescind their 2026 draft picks this year. And when people ask why did you do that you say because we have great players there is no need to draft. I think we all know that's not going to happen. But people are acting like hey the team is winning yeah but what about the bling? You ever heard of the aluminum wheels analogy? Aluminum wheels have to be polished every so often. They tend to go dull and lose their luster after awhile. Most aluminum wheels have a clear coat to make them less maintenance and they keep their shine for a few years. In matter of fact I'm not too sure if you can even buy aluminum wheels these days without the clear coat? You might find something out there and if it exist it's hard to find. To me that's the nfl. You don't get a clear coat son to preserve the shine. You have to polish every so often to keep the shine and it's time and attention to detail and extra work. But aluminum wheels look nice when they're polished up. It looks better than chrome wheels. So I'm always going to say something if guys are out there on the football field rolling around on the grass looking like dog turds. But they'll say but we won, okay yeah you won but some of these guys don't have any bling, and I'm talking about some of these guys on the offensive line and I'll even throw Justin Herbert in there as well. Remember that run Herbert made against the Titans on that drive? The way he finished the run, how should he finish runs? How should that manifest? I'll post a replay in the replies. He's a quarterback but I can't hold him back like hey don't play as hard or hey don't go pick up that 1st down or dont run it in for a touchdown. You're working on your throwing mechanics and being accurate throwing the football and you're a quarterback by position in the offense, the likelihood of teams winning a super bowl without a good one are slim to none. But maybe he needs to go spend an hour a day working out with the running backs and tightends on the practice field and doing their drills in the morning or in the evening? I think it could only help. You're not going to see gains over night but you might in a few weeks. I mean you know trying to develop those legs for running, making guys miss in a phone booth and when you run with the ball you can run with some pop. I personally dont suggest him sticking his head out there for head to head contact but getting those legs going and running with some pads on. I don't know if he's going to be running routes and catching footballs what if he jams a finger? He's the quarterback he's the one throwing the football. But working on those legs doing cone drills developing better lateral quickness, shorter step speed and then when he starts to get into more open field that's when can run with those longer strides. Just get in there and do some drills with the running backs and the tightends and see what happens? Alternate back and forth. Practice tucking the football away when running with the ball. Maybe even getting in there and pushing the sled around and learning how to block. Doing some dead lifts with the offensive line. You know Herbert is a quarterback #1 but then there's those times where he's gotta go be a football player. And I don't know how you're going to do, you know be a better football player if he doesn't practice other facets? Maybe he could be a better dual threat but he's gotta do his own thing. You can't clone players, that'll never work. I do like how he's been working with the receivers and how each receiver is one of a kind, and building up that chemistry with each and every one. That's smart thinking because they're not clones, no one is a clone. You might have kinsmen, people who are your close blood related family (and don't act like that's a myth it's not) who are similar to you but you're still not a clone. A dual threat quarterback can be a guy who wears the hat of being a quarterback but he can put on a different hat and he can do other things beside just handing the ball off and throwing from the pocket. Like getting into the pistol and running quarterback blast up the middle, just kidding. But maybe a quarterback sweep/reverse to Darius Davis. It's doing something else on certain plays or for a series of plays within the offense. I think there are a few plays where Herbert can throw the ball away to avoid taking on some of these unnecessary hits and sacks. To me there's been at least a couple different times if not more where one of his legs gets twisted or in an awkward position and it looks like a knee or an ankle might pop out of joint like a pork knuckle. Just in this past game there was a couple of plays and one looked like it was close to being a hyper extended knee. They may of been trying to injure him because they're trying to win, but not everything is unnecessary roughness in football. So as a player and as players you gotta learn how to protect yourself or yourselves as you play. And that's probably something the offense has to be more worried about. The offensive line hasn't been very good pass blocking i think we all know that that's been the talk going around Charger land. I think the Chargers offense has been stuck in a lopsided situation. It's been too passy for too long. When is the last time this offense converted a 3rd & 8 for example with a run play? Who knows. But they're watching film on you and you're watching film on them.
When the offense doesn't have a legitimate run game and they know that, you're trying to pass on a defense that is not as preoccupied trying to stuff the run, the Chargers run game.
Now if defenses become more preoccupied in stopping the run can the Chargers still run the ball? We don't know i don't think it has gotten to that point yet. But Herbert has to understand this in a philosophical way or yeah he might fall by the wayside as a quarterback. The offense needs the run game because that is the only way or the best way for the offense to be and play physical up front. And so as a quarterback you want to get to the run game, get to it earlier, and hand that football off to the running backs and get these defenses preoccupied in that sh!t. And then as a quarterback i think you'll be able to get into some passing without being under duress as much. And if defenses don't want to get preoccupied with stopping the run then keeping handing it off because there's guys in the building that know how to coach it. So take advantage of it right now. Greg Roman said a couple of weeks ago said that the flowing water of a river will shift and move sand and gravel, and basically carve it's way through the landscape. (He didn't say that part of it but that's how I perceived it). And so as the Chargers play these games now and in the future and as they get into the flow or their play calling and execution. I do believe over time that will carve through some dry landscape if they have a legitimate run game. They're watching your film and you're watching their film. But I don't know if you can go back the last 6 games and pinpoint when Herbert should've thrown the football away, when he could've extended plays with his legs or when he could've scrambled for some yards. The offensive line has been too messy and inconsistent to sit down and work through some film with Herbert and/or mull through somethings. But I think part of that problem is what i just mentioned previously. The cats got out of the bag and you're not going to be able to put them back. But maybe there is something in those last 6 games. I know last season the offensive line did alright at times so there might be some film there. I think Herbert's game needs some polishing. Because when you're the quarterback and you drop back to pass and you're unable to throw the ball to the 1st or 2nd read for whatever reason that it is. It's incumbent upon him to do something because he has the ball. It only makes sense. But it's hard to do anything when the offensive line hasn't been playing good.
“And I’ve got a list for you.” I love it. Get ahead of these dumbass injury questions that swallow up entire press conferences.
@TheDirectorChargers coach said it… “STAY FROSTY”!!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️

REVENGE GAME
Got mad love for these dudes but they honestly need a new strength and conditioning coach because wtf??
Bozeman and rest days are words I never want to hear in a sentence again
It's amazing. We've lost both our starting tackles, both our starting running backs, and how do we handle it? We're actually picking up steam! I'm not ready to give up on this year yet, but if we get both tackles back next year, and a healthy Omarian Hampton, we're Superbowl favorites.
Stay Determined ! Stay Hungry! and most important.. STAY FROSTY!! GO CHARGERS!!
I agree! Vidal is a fast moving bundle of power, and he has carried the running game on his back!
Beat the Jags, enjoy the bye at 8-3!!!
If only we had those tackles man. We could beat anybody
its great too see the DEFENSE playing with such intensity and great tackling >>>keep that going and BOLT UP !!!
Keep thriving! Bolt up!
I think the Chargers season is just getting started. With injured players coming back they are only getting started. Bolt UP!
