Multiple St. Louis Blues updates… This is Perfect

We get multiple updates on the St. Louis Blues as Jim Montgomery reveals one key player returning from injury to join this lineup while speaking on one line in particular that had a huge game versus the Calgary Flames that has showing flashes for Jim Montgomery and this team to build momentum on. We got so much to break down, including an update on Jordan Bennington and so much more in this episode. You’re not going to want to miss it. So Darius, let’s just dive straight into this today where we do get an update on Jordan Bennington. Let’s dive into this before the quotes from Jim Montgomery. And we do coming from Matt St. Louis. Sports personality of the year was named to Jordan Bennington. Now Jordan Bennington a fan favorite. Listen, if you don’t like the St. Louis Blues, you probably don’t like Jordan Bennington, but we love him around these parts. From taking the puck from OB all the way to winning the Stanley Cup, this guy definitely has a personality. And dear, I just want to get your opinion. Listen, a rough start to the year for Jordan Bennington. If you take out the Washington game over the last three, he’s had two phenomenal start starts, stopping 38 of 40 shots versus the Flames. What is your thoughts on him being named this and is bit of a bounceback. Yeah, I think if you’re going to name anyone a sports personality or give out an award, it’s probably Jordan Bennington, at least in the sport of hockey. So, uh, welld deserved there. That is for sure. He’s also, you know, we covered in a video the other day, you know, played the most games as a St. Louis Blues goalender as well. So, congrats to him on that. He’s been around uh for a while already at this point. Still going strong as the starting goalender of the St. Louis Blues. And again, like you said, starting to build some momentum just like the rest of the team. Starting to put some decent starts together. The start of the year was not very good to him. But as you can see in the last little while, an 833, which is a lot better than where he was in the 6 and 700s. Uh then he has a 923. And then most recently against Calgary, a very good outing with a 950, which we’ve come to, you know, uh, get used to. Last season, we were seeing, you know, him put up like 930s, 950. I think had a 970 in one game, uh, or a couple games there. He was on an unbelievable stretch at the end of last season heading into the playoffs. So, uh, you know, he’s starting to build some momentum. I think that’s a really good thing for the Blues, the rest of the team as well, cuz you know what, everything goes through your goalender at the end of the day. If you don’t have any confidence in your goalenders, like the Blues did not to start the season, uh, and for good reason, you’re not going to play well. So, if they start to turn around a little bit and Bennington is, you know, leading the way in that category, I think the Blues will be fine. And I think the big thing is we’re starting to see the team play more of a complete game. When the team was kind of in shambles to start the season, it’s hard for a goalender to make multiple big saves with rebounds coming out, not being in position because you’re biting over on another spot. But the Blues are starting to play better and we’re going to go into this, but they’re starting to get reinforcements in the lineup. You can see on that third line right wing. We do get an update coming from Jim Montgomery that I think he is a player. He’s fine. Joseph looks to return to the lineup on Friday. Now, we know he was out with a lower body injury, but he’s back skating. What is your thoughts on Joseph coming back to the lineup? We know what he does for this team. If you check scoring, he currently sits 10th in scoring for the team. Six points in 15 games. Yes, it doesn’t look flashy, but everything he brings to this lineup, including his speed, sitting in the 90th percentile at 22.79 mph at his top speed, what is your thought on him joining back into this Blues lineup to add that extra edge? First of all, I love Jim Montgomery and how old school he is. He says he’s, you know, he’s looking like a player instead of he’s looking healthy or he’s ready to return. I I love the terminology that he’s used all season. He’s used that before when talking about different players returning from injuries. So, I I thought that was funny. But, um, Joseph coming back, I think, is a good thing. A lot of people have said that he hasn’t performed that well this season. I think he has actually performed very well this season. We were talking about in the offseason, he could be a trade chip heading into the year, maybe in preseason if one of the younger guys made the team. Of course, they’re dealing with some injuries. Uh, but him coming back, I think, is a really good thing. Like you mentioned, he adds some uh some speed to the lineup. Definitely some speed. He adds some skill. I think some underrated skill. He scored a really nice goal last week. So, if he can continue to chip away a little bit, he can be a complimentary piece to any line right now. We’ve seen him play on the third line. We’ve seen him play on the second line. He’s been on the fourth line this season, right? So, I think that he can be a complimentary piece to any of those lines. I don’t know exactly where he’s going to fit in. Uh, obviously, if you look at Puck Py, they have him on the third line right now, but they could toy around with the lines as they have all season to this point. Uh, so I, you know, I don’t think that would be a surprise or anything like that, but he has been pretty good as you can see from the leading scores here this season. Again, a lot of people, we see your comments. We see the narrative online. A lot of people saying he hasn’t been good. Uh he’s been okay. So, uh I think that’s all you can ask from a player like that. He makes a little bit more than just okay money, I guess, if you want like a league minimum guy in there to chip in as well. But, uh he brings some speed, some skill, or definitely speed, some skill to the lineup. And I, uh I think him returning just lengthens the lineup a little bit. And I think that’s the biggest thing. If you were looking at Joseph and he was getting paid 1.52 million, fans would love this guy. Listen, I understand the cap. It can be a little bit. Yes, he’s on a contract, but the biggest thing is this is a cap world. We’re going to see it jump up and up 10 million each year. I’m not going to sit here and say, listen, Joseph is a steal of a contract. He’s going to come out and perform at his almost 3 million every single night. But he does add that edge, the speed to this team. That helps. We’ve seen what it can do in playoff serieses. We know when teams get tired, this is the speed that can burn another team. But guys, what is your thoughts on Joseph? What is your thoughts on his return to the lineup? Do you think he stations imperfectly on the third line? Would you like to see him jump onto a different line? And this goes straight into another line. I said lines a lot just then, but Jim Montgomery spoke very highly of one in particular line that really showed out for the St. Louis Blues in the game versus Calgary and called them a momentum shifter. We can see Jim talk the trust that they’re going to get the job done because they don’t take the easy way out. They gain lines. They take hits to make plays. And when that happens, it builds momentum on our team because our team sees the second and third effort. And of course, that is the fourth line headlined by Nathan Walker. What is your thoughts on this fourth line, Darius? We know a fourth line’s not going to go out and win you a Stanley Cup, but we’ve seen fourth lines contribute very well. This is what sets up momentum from a big hit going in on a forch check. When Nathan Walker scores, you can see the team lighten up. They feel faster, stronger. They want to win more. Not saying they don’t want to win, but what is your thoughts on this fourth line and this identity they’re kind of building within this Blues organization? Yeah, it’s the energy line and that’s exactly what they’ve been. And obviously last game against Calgary, they were great. You know, chipped in for two goals, five on five. So, that’s more than you can ask uh of your fourth line. Most times they don’t even score a goal. So, that was a really good effort. But, yeah, exactly. An energy line. And I think that, you know, playing like that is contagious. If you know, you continue to do that and you go out there every shift uh like they did last game, it’s going to rub off on the rest of the team. Of course, you need the top guys to do it too, you know, lead by example. Of course, all of that is true. And if you don’t have that leadership, then you might not find success and you might be dead in any game. But if the fourth line continues to do what they were doing, that provides some energy. And I just think it’s contagious, right? You see guys throwing hits, you see Walker throwing the body around, right? Getting to the front of the net, making these scrappy plays, putting the puck in the back of the net. you go back to the bench, everybody’s feeling good, and then the next guy up has the obligation to follow that up, right? So, it is, I think, contagious in that way. You can get a bench, some life in the bench. You can get a bench going doing that type of stuff. So, they’re going to be relied upon for that. That’s what most fourth lines try to do around the league. Uh, and if they continue to do that, you know, game after game, then I think it will, you know, spark something in the rest of the team. I honestly truly believe that everything goes through your goalender first of all, but then if you can generate some spark, you can get some of that contagious, you know, energy going on the bench, everybody’s going to chip in and contribute in some way. And that’s what you need some everyone to contribute something consistently. And I think the big thing is, listen, looking at Nathan Walker, not the biggest player in the NHL, not the fastest player, but he goes out with heart every single game. 61 hits in 16 games. We see the five points. He is going to go out and chip in offensively here and there for the team. But the bigger story, like we keep talking about, what Jim Montgomery speaks about is the momentum this fourth line sits. Now listen, like we’ve said, this is not going to set aside the entire season, but with a team that feels like they’re not playing up to expectations, a team that has been struggling. I think these guys stepping up, like you said, it can ripple through the entire lineup. You might see the third line step up and Shen wants to get into a fight and get some momentum. Then that moves up to the second line with D’vorski and the Crews scoring a goal. Then to the top line having a dominant shift. This is a ripple effect that can completely flip this team. And listen, we know a lot of fans did not like us talking about the fact that maybe they’re back. Maybe this is the big defining moment. But looking into the current schedule with the Blues having the streak of at least getting points out of what is this series? Four of the last five games. This is the momentum this team needs to continue to build. You’re getting points. Yes. The game versus Calgary. you want to blow him out, but you allowed 40 shots and still came out with those two points. Against Seattle, you take a point. Buffalo, you shut out. And you go against the Edmonton Oilers back to back in the Stanley Cup finals taking this win. This is the momentum this team does. And listen, as a Blues fan, we know what it means when momentum hits this team. We’ve seen it in 2019. We seen it last year. This is the team that takes those moments. And I think this is a big flip in the script. But this is the big thing, fans. What is your thoughts on the current lineup? What is your thoughts on Bennington being named sports personality of the year? What is your thoughts on Jim’s quotes? Let us know all your thoughts down in the comments. And speaking of comments, let’s go straight into comments of the day coming through. I expect we’ll see a two to threeyear bridge deal for Holloway at 5.5 AAV. Thoughts?
