HUGE RED WINGS TRADE UPDATE: WE NOW KNOW WHAT’S IN STORE FOR ANDREW COPP & JT COMPHER

Take a deep breath, Michigan, because today the Detroit Red Wings have themselves a game against those gosh darn Ducks of Anaheim. They’re doing pretty well, the Anaheim Ducks 114-1 this season. The Red Wings are 97 and0. Puck drop is at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. So 700 p.m. for most of y’all in the Wings time zone. And I’m sitting here saying that I want Lucas Raymond and Alex Debrinket to go out there and get some points. You know, we spoke about this yesterday. The new moves to Brinket, Raymond, Larkin, new first line for the Detroit team. We’ll see how it goes. I kind of need some fantasy points. It’s a tight week for me. I’ve been saying that all week and I’m going to be so annoying about it. I apologize to y’all for that. But I drafted a whole bunch of folks on my favorite teams because I believe in them and I want to see them do well. Plus, it’s a lot more fun to cheer for players and to cheer for stories and to cheer for teams and actually have your hope rewarded in fantasy hockey because you believe in them so much and you love them so much. So, you want to support them and you want to put your faith in them. You want to put your money where your mouth is literally because if I win, I get some stacks. But either way, the Red Wings have themselves the Anaheim Ducks later today. Leo Carlson leads the squad in the last five games with 10 points. Ridiculous. The guy is a double point per game player. He is over a goal a game. I also happen to have Troy Terry on my fantasy squad. He’s got seven assists in his last five as well. So, he’s been pretty good. Goalending is kind of a mixed bag. I mean, Dostal has been good. Morazzic has been meh. And then Gibson and Talbot are Gibson and Talbot. Nobody’s really stood out and become a top tier stud so far for Detroit, but that’s kind of uh Do I want to say it’s okay? I mean, the team is 97 and0 right now. They could have afforded a little bit better goalending in some of the previous games. And we’re not going to say that Gibson nor Talbot is the reason the Wings ended up slumping a little bit. We can highlight a bunch of other reasons. We can talk about the team not having that scoring punch. We can talk about the moral victories. Okay, they get shut out against Vegas, but they play a good game. Nobody who watched that game and is a fan of the Red Wings is going to be disappointed with how they played. They’re just going to be disappointed with the result. And those are two very different things. We can acknowledge that the team has skill and they have shown it off and they have gotten opportunities. But if they just converted more, that is the kicker obviously, right? I’m saying stuff that a grade schooler can understand. If you want to win hockey games, you got to score more goals. Whoop-dedoo. That’s crazy how that works, right? But all this to say that the Detroit Red Wings haven’t necessarily been bailed out by goalending just yet. They haven’t necessarily been in a spot where the goalending has been a strong suit of the year. So, you know, whose fault really is that? You can talk about many of the aspects of this team that needs improvement and one of those happens to be second line center. Marco Casper unfortunately has not been the best second line center this year, at least in the same way that he was showing off value in last season’s worth of play. And so now we’re getting into a Red Wings trade update, which is why you clicked on this gosh darn video. Don’t worry, folks. We’re going to actually live up to what it is we put in the title and thumbnail. But we did have to talk about the Anaheim Ducks because uh yeah, I don’t know if you noticed, they are pretty scary this time of the year. Let’s take a look at a post made by NHL rumor report on Twitter. This is what David Pota of the fourth period went out there and said on yesterday’s episode of the daily faceoff rundown show. He talks about the Detroit Red Wings. If this is where this team is going to be, a wildcard bubble team, the more we’re going to hear of guys like JT Comfort and Andrew Cop in terms of the trade market. And that is a very particular update that doesn’t necessarily align with a lot of the conversations we have had about other teams in similar positions. Normally, it’s like, okay, if a team is a bubble wild card team, they’re going to want to trade away some prospects and they’re going to want to add, right? Here’s the thing. Comfort and COP are legitimate middle six pieces on the Detroit Red Wings. Now, are they the best middle six pieces that the Wings could have or that exist in the National Hockey League? Absolutely not. So, this is why this trade update is interesting because David Pñota is straight up saying, “Hey, if the Wings are not good enough to contend as a top tier Atlantic team, if they’re not going to have this roster push them to the top one, two, three of the Atlantic and totally take control of the division. If they’re just going to be hanging on to the playoff run, maybe we will see some of their middle six guys in trade talks to try to get some sort of an improvement deal done. We’ve been making a bunch of videos about the biggest strength that Steve Eerman has had the past few years. I’m going to say it’s his drafting. His pro scouting has been very hit or miss, but his amateur scouting and the scouting department for the Wings have been so solid the past few years. From the prospects that were taken that inevitably found themselves onto the team, Finny Brans Nugard, Sandine Pelica, Danielson to the guys that we are talking about now in the NCAA like Max Plant or Eddie Genborg in Sweden. so much value out of these Detroit Red Wings young guys. And if you wanted to say the Wings are in a spot where they could use some improvements to the roster, maybe a trade goes down where you see a comfort and a pick and maybe one of those nice prospects sent over to a team for a better, more established, more qualified second line center. And that is me trying to make sense out of this tweet and the sentiment over here. There are some replies that are funny. I mean, look, the tweet says, “If the Red Wings are in a bubble spot, you might see Comfort or Cop on the trademark.” This reply, JT Comfort and Andrew Cop off my roster and we make the playoffs. It’s that Stephen A. Smith, I’m talking to God himself clip. And I found this very hilarious. Let’s go out there and see what Red Wings fans have to say on the Detroit Red Wings subreddit. This tweet was posted onto the forum over there. Pñota discusses the Red Wings feelings about making Comfort and Cop available. The Red Wings portion begins at 10:26 of yesterday’s daily faceoff rundown podcast. It’s available on YouTube over there. Top reply from Quake roast boatsman says every team is two wins or losses away from being either a divisional seed or seventh in the division. And that is something that absolutely is true and I do think it is relevant to the conversation here. You have to at least acknowledge that hey the Wings are in a pretty good spot standings wise, right? I mean, they ended up getting passed by the Ottawa Senators, which is not ideal, but they are tied with Tampa Bay for what is, I believe. No, they’re not tied for the wild card. They’re one point out of the wild card. Excuse me. But again, this is what we’ve been talking about the entire season. How parody has taken over the National Hockey League. Look at this. Second last in the Eastern Conference has 17 points. They are a 500 team, the Toronto Maple Leafs are, and they are in second last in the East. If the Toronto Maple Leafs just had themselves two more points, they would be tied for a wild card spot. And if they had three more points, they would be tied for a top three spot in the Atlantic. If that doesn’t articulate just how close everything is at this point in the season, I do not know what will. Which is why we head back over onto the Detroit Redwing subreddit and we read some more of what these fans are saying. Anthony Panther says, “I don’t even really dislike Comper, but it’s absolutely obvious that Larkin needs another high-end center to help him carry the load. Any team looking to hit the rebuild button with a decent center available should absolutely be a target for Eerman. a first round pick, a high-end prospect, and one of copper comfort would be the price in my eyes. So, that’s kind of similar to what we brought up over here as well. The Wings got prospects, and the Wings have some guys that are decent to serviceable NHL players. Not needle movers by any means, but still guys that are okay. Cop and Coner are not going to tear worlds down, but they’re not going to totally sink the boat they’re in either. So with this in mind, I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comments section below. How do you feel about this Detroit Red Wings trade update regarding COP, regarding Comper, regarding the status of the Wings and what they could be able to do? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below heading into tonight’s Anaheim game, how you feel about that. I hope you enjoyed this finish a roll 999 and bye.

  1. Why would anyone want either guy with the contracts theyre on? It would take the wings eating a large chunk of salary and also maybe attaching picks to move either of them.

  2. Copp and Compher have worked in streaks. I'd get rid of Copp first if possible. He was complaining about his role not being big enough before McClellan came in. If he's that unhappy, it is probably affecting his play.

  3. This style of shooting is way better than watching video game footage. Keep it up! It def does something for your authority. It’s hard to take the video game footage seriously.
