And we have our little kind of 10-minute preview here where we are going to uh break down this Flames game as the Sharks head to Calgary uh to try to keep their win streak on the line and their port point streak on the line. Uh so we’ll get to see how these two teams match up. uh get to know the Flames a little bit better and the lines for tonight as well as what to watch for as I think this is a big stepping stone game for the Sharks to kind of see where this uh season is headed. So, let’s start by looking at how these two teams match up. Uh the Calgary Flames at 412 and two, San Jose Sharks 86 and three. Uh the Flames with the worst offense in the NHL at 2.06 goals, four per game, 32nd goals allowed 3.17. That’s good for 18th. Your Sharks are sitting at 3.24 goals for per game, 14th in the NHL and 3.29 goals allowed, 25th in the NHL. Remember a couple weeks ago that was over four. Uh so we are slowly climbing up there. Power play for the Sharks, uh 15th in the NHL at 19.6. The Flames is at 11.5 dead last. The PK 75.4% 24th and then 77.8 for the Flames 18th. Celebr leads in all categories, 10 goals, 16 assists, and 26 points. Coleman leads with six goals. Codri with seven assists. And Cadri leads the team with 11 points. Kadri the only doubledigit point scorer for the Flames uh so far this season. So this Flames team uh they are bad. Uh the offense has struggled mightily. They cannot create goals. Uh they can’t score, they can’t finish. The power plays been horrible. Um defensively, they’ve done a good job of kind of limiting the damage as best they can, but they’ve had major regression from the team that just missed the playoffs last year um to now the worst team in the NHL, at least to start the season here. Um, but we’ll we’ll kind of get into this a little bit more here in a second. But this Flames team, you know, who would have seen coming the Flames team that was struggled to score last year went out, did nothing to address their uh goal scoring this off season and continue to struggle to score goals. So, who could have seen it coming for the Flames? Uh, they’re the way they line up. Curtis, Cadri, and uh Fabby up top. Uh, Hubedo, Frost, and Coronado. Uh Hanzik, Backland, and Coleman on the third line. Lombberg, Zaryi, and Clapka on your fourth. Uh Ball Anderson, Weaguer, Bean, and Ball on uh the for the defensive pairings. And Wolf is getting the net for the uh for the uh Flames tonight. We have a great goalie matchup tonight. Uh for your Sharks, uh no changes in the the uh four department. Foley, celebrating Smith, Ecuan, Wenberg, Kersev, Skinner, Dandria, Graph, Gro, Goddet, Reeves. Defensively, there is a little bit of a change here. Uh, Ferraro, Clingberg, Orlav, and Ligrin is coming in for Muk Mcdulan with Dickinson and Dehares. And then Ascrov is starting. Skarik is was caught up on an emergency basis right now with Nadulkovich out for personal reasons. So, uh, Nadukovich moved to the non-roster. scar has been brought up for emergency uh situation which you can do with the goalies uh so you can kind of be over if you don’t have two goalies and since Nadelovic is home no word on Nadelkovich again hoping everything is okay with him and his family right now. So and you know just thoughts to him as he whatever they’re going through right now. So um what to watch for in this game? Uh this is the trappiest of trap games that ever traps for the San Jose Sharks, right? which is a weird thing to say, right? We have not been in this situation in a long time. The San Jose Sharks team, which has, you know, pee reeled off four games in a row here of wins. They’ve got, uh, points in seven straight with their only loss coming in a shootout to the Detroit Red Wings. Um, this team is, you know, been, you know, outplayed against much better competition, but still has been able to, uh, get wins, uh, you know, against some good teams here. Uh you think about the Minnesota game where they were half asleep for the first two periods and they woke up in the third period were able to steal that game a large part thanks to Ascarov’s play but like the Panthers game where they were you know basically uh they stole that game again thanks to Ascrov’s play. This game I think will show a lot in the Young Sharks maturity right because this is the game you should win right you are you’re a better team than the Calgary Flames. Um, right. Offensively, the the Sharks much better team. Uh, you know, yes, I know the Flames, they want to kind of pull you down into the mud, uh, try to kind of grind this thing out and see if that they can, uh, you know, steal a win at some point. But I, this is a I think if the Sharks really want to set the tone and kind of tell us what type of team they are, this is a a game where you come out and you take care of business. So, that’s what I’m watching for is how do the Sharks approach this game, right? Um because, yes, you you’ve gotten some wins against some big teams lately and you’ve had to kind of scrap by with some of those. I want to see how the Sharks come out and play. if if you perform like you did against the Jets, right, where you came out, you know, you were kind of even halfway through and then, you know, the second half of the game you put your your foot on the gas and you, you know, kind of controlled that game and were able to get the win. If you could do that against this Flames and win this game comfortably, right, like kind of like we saw with the Kraken where, you know, beginning of the third period, you put up three goals right away and and kind of were able to coast. That’s the I think the type of performance where you can kind of maybe start to believe in this team a little bit more. Uh is how do you play the these bottom of the barrel teams is can you put them like get up early, put them away and start get ready to move on to the next game. So that’s the first thing I’m watching for is how the Sharks approach this game, right? Don’t take it again trappiest of trap games for the Sharks here. It’d be very easy for them to come out sleepy, uh, you know, this is a Flames team, they’re bad, they can’t score, and then all of a sudden you’re down two nothing in the second period and then trying to scramble to come back like that that red flags if something like that happens. So, um, I do want to see, of course, Ascrov how he continues to play. This will be his third start, uh, in a row. We know he had to kind of come in last minute uh against the um sorry, excuse me, against the Wild there and he performed admirably, right? And we we saw earlier this season where he got three or four starts in a row and then that last game everything kind of fell apart for him against the Kings. Ask been playing much better as of late, even before that Kings game. So, I want to see if if Ascrov can continue to build on it, especially in what is uh pretty big goalie matchup here between Dustin Wolf and between Yaros Salvas. Two uh you know, very well thought of of def goalie prospects. I guess Wol’s not really a goalie prospect anymore, but right, Wolf, who was a Calder finalist last year, Ashkro, who’s you know, after a rough started is really settled into his role. I want to see who which of these young goalies who can uh kind of outduel here and who can kind of maybe put their team on the back if on their back if necessary. So, um and then the the final thing I’m looking for is um can the power play get going again? Right, we saw they scored last game against the Wild. I’d like to see you don’t have to score in every one, but we want to see more controlled play, more kind of controlled uh effort. And yes, a a power play goal would be nice tonight, too. But, uh, I think continuing to see improvement from the power play. Um, because I if if the Sharks want to be a, you know, sniffing for the playoffs type of team, you’re going to see you’re going to need more from the power of play than what we’ve seen over the last kind of month or so. And I think this is a good opportunity for the power of play to kind of continue to to build and kind of sack some performances here. So, I think the Sharks get it done. Uh I I I as much as I’ve kind of harped on the way they’ve been winning, I think this is a good opportunity kind of go out there and just show that you’re you’re not the same Sharks team that you were before and go out there and put a a very bad Flames team to bed. So I think the Sharks win this game pretty handedly. Uh I think the Flames struggled to score. I got the Sharks winning four to one in this game. Give me an Ekkan point. Uh he was awesome last game and I think uh he gets rewarded for his efforts uh tonight. So yeah, give me a William Equin point uh and I think the Sharks put this one to to bed and we have a really fun conversation tonight about uh this Sharks team. So uh we’ll be back tonight to uh break down this game. So make sure you’re following along wherever you get podcast and of course you can watch on YouTube as well. 1. I’ll be there tonight! Hopefully the boys show up, I’ve seen a few games in Calgary this year and wolf can for sure steal a game so can’t take the foot off the gas

  2. That opening line gave me a chuckle. An intersquad scrimmage would be against THE BEST TEAM IN THE NHL THOUGH hahahah GO SHARKS!!! (from a new fan as of 2 weeks)
