Sights and Sounds: CAN’T MISS: Jameson Williams mic’d up in Detroit’s 44-22 win at Washington

Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland. Week 10 of the National Football League and the Lions are on the road getting set for a matchup with the Washington Commanders. This is an opportunity for a bounceback. They’re trying to bounce back off a loss to the Vikings last week. Hopefully, they got things corrected this week leading up into practice and we’ll see a better performance out here today. If you give them a reason to think that this is their day and play the way that you played last week, this is a dangerous afternoon. You need to walk into this building and take care of business. Look, Lions want to get back on track, but at the same time, they they have to make sure that they don’t take this commander team lightly, which I don’t expect them to. Take the play to another level. All right, we got to keep getting better and better and better, applying more and more pressure every time we touch that rock. The Lions won 15 games a year ago, coming to this game with a 5 and3 record, looking to get back to Detroit Lions football. Right. And I know that that defense, they are going to come out swinging today. It’s going to take a group effort to go against the commanders in that offense today. It’s all us today. All day we dominate. Take that soul every step. Let’s go. Dominate 3. 1 2 3. Get that job done. It don’t matter. The moment you cross that line, whatever it takes. Whatever. Hey. Oh, we on a day of getting ready, baby. Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go. You need to win. This NFC North is going to be an absolute battle right down to the finish. And you got to handle your business. That starts for the Lions today here against these Washington Commanders. And what that really comes down to is playing Dan Campbell football. Get back to doing what you do best. Play clean football. Go out there, find a way to get it done in all three phases. And you can walk out of here and jump on a plane with a victory and head back to Detroit. There is the run up and the kick. It is going to be taken by Igmanagy. Sends it at the 5 yd line. on the return. Drop at the 26 yd line. Grant Stewart with a big play on special teams. Hey, we already out here, man. Marcus Mariota comes out. He’s already got three starts this year. There’s the snap. Mariota hands it to Rodriguez. Tries the middle. Picks up two to the 33 yd line. This is a third and medium here, but these are the money downs. you can get off the field early, get this offense a little bit of momentum that can go a long way. There’s the snap. Mariota back looking to throw. Got a lot of time. Now he’s chased out of the pocket. Rolling to his left and throws it down field. It is incomplete intended for his tight end Zack Z. And well overthrown. Pressure coming that time. Let’s go. It is a 49 yd punt and a three-yd return. Lions offense will come out for the first time today. Golf up under center. He turns. fakes the Gibbs, throws, got it to Honor left side. He’s got some room. 35 yd line 40. And he runs out of bounds near midfield and into Washington territory he goes. And good job selling the run, too. Faking a little counter to the right. Getting a couple pullers, slowing down the linebackers. Look for a lot of that today with Almond Rob lining up maybe in some different positions to try to get some of those one-on- ones. Jared leans in. Play clock at two and one. There’s the snap. Jared back on third down. Throws right side. Got to complete the Jammo. spins out of a tackle and gets the first down inside the 25 and down to the 21 yd line. He goes and the blitz pickup both linebackers crossing in the A gap. Great job by Graham Glasgow and Jir Gibbs stepping up to give Jared Goff that pocket. You have to be able to expect that pressure today. But once you show you can shut it down, you’re going to make Washington start getting a little uncomfortable with their play calls. I thought I was out of that our trip, bro. Out of the timeout, Detroit from the Washington 14. Kovsky to work out of the gun. There’s the snap to Jared who wants to throw. Looks back at the football. He’s playing the football just like Chosen is. It turns out to be a nice pass break up by Arnold. He’s ready. Snap spot kick away. It is up and it is good. So Washington on the board for the first time today. It is 7-3. Lions on top. Let’s go man. Go start up again. Put them out their glory man. Take them out their glory man. Lions offense will come back out and you called it. Dan Campbell over on the sidelines calling plays for the offense. Sometimes when you need a little bit of a a boost or, you know, change things up a little bit offensively. Look, sometimes just being on the field, too. He’s right there with his guys, you get a little better feel of of the flow and the rhythm of the game. Oh my god. Dan Skipper splits out wide to the right. G is back wanting to throw. But that’s what you want to see and averaging uh what is it about 6 and 1/2 yards a carry. That’s going to open up those plays that we just saw with Sam Laorter getting across the middle wide open cuz it’s eating a lot of those linebackers eyes when you’re rushing so well. So Washington’s offense will come back out. Lions defense back on the field. He’ll take the snap, turn, and give it to Krosky Merritt running trying to get outside. Campbell chasing him and taking him down maybe a yard. Yeah. And the good job from Roy Lopez, too, to keep outside contained and again force that back to where his help is, which is Zach Campbell and the rest of those guys on the defensive front. Punch formation to the left. Third down at nine. Marota stays on his feet, spins, and now he’s taken down by Brian Branch. And that will take us to the end of the first quarter. Second sack of the season for Branch. Hey, hey, another one over here. Another one. Lions with a first down now. Let’s not forget Coyote getting the start today. And there for Christian Mahogany at left guard. Golf moves in behind center. Single back gives. He gives it to Jir. Jir finds a hole. There he goes. left side across the 40 yd line to the 50 left sideline into Washington territory inside the 45 and out of the 42. Bram Glasco with a big block to help spring and Sam Leapora. He got just enough to chill the guy out. And like you say, once you give Jir Gibbs a hole like that, he’s going to take off. G has it, wants to throw. G looks and throws. Got to complete Khalif inside the 25 down to the 20 yd line with a first down. Spun out of the 18. Damage done. That’s a 13 yd connection from Golf to Khalif. Eye formation behind Jared. He turns, hands it to Gibbs, running right, runs through a tackle, gets down to the 10. Gibbs through the five, still fighting down to the two, down to the one, to the end zone. Touchdown, Detroit Lions. He did not quit. And that’s how you keep those legs moving, man. Again, nice job. Nice power coming from Jir Gibbs on that run, not being denied. Want to look at this replay cuz there was some dudes in there helping him. Got to the right side. Here comes Almond Ry. Here comes Leaporta. And they both shove him right in the end zone. What you own today? What you own today? Lions though. Three drives, three touchdowns. Well, Lions are going to keep their offense out there and go for two. Lions for the first time this season going for two. Goff hands it off. Montgomery is in. It is now Detroit 22 and Washington three. And that’s just the big fellas up front moving Washington players back into the end zone. There was no contact until he had already gotten the two points. He was wearing that defense out, man. I tell you what, you can see it. Mariota looking out over that defense. There’s the snap. Hands to Rodriguez into the end zone for the touchdown. And these Washington fans have something to cheer about for the first time today. Stay on that front foot now. Stay on that pedal. Stay on that pedal. Chance to double up here going into the halftime. Uh maybe get in a two-minute drill, get some points, and get involved. Start the start the third quarter as well. Here come the Lions now on first down. G turns, fakes the give to Demo, steps up in the pocket, looks, throws, got a man open. It is a sliding catch. Nope. They’re going to say Khif trapped it at the 50 yd line. He had come open. G missed him that time. Leaf saying he caught it. He’s telling the sidelines, “Hey, I caught that.” Come on. Closer. Now, come on. Yes. There it is. Red flag comes out. It is a catch by Khalif Raymond. Good for 18 yds. His third of the day. We got to keep going for him, man. It’s going to be fourth down. We assume that offense is going to stay out on the field. It’s going to be fourth and one again. Lions up 22 to 10 are going to go for it. G leans in, takes the snap, wants to throw. Jared does. Got it complete. Khalif inside the 10. Leafed out of the seven yd line. Lions deferred at the start of the game. So they will also get the ball first in the third quarter. Lions sent out the field goal unit. They scored touchdowns on each of their first three possessions today. Jay, let’s go brother. Spot down. Kick away. It is up and it is good. Bates sends it through. Impressive first half for the Lions. They had it four times, three touchdowns and a field goal. Washington takes a knee to end the half. Dan Campbell, he has these guys playing downhill. We’re doing good on first and second down. That’s keeping us out of third and longs. We’re sustaining drives. Passing game definitely clicking. Three Lion receivers with at least four catches. Leaf four for 49. Leaporta 4 for 45. St. Brown 4 for 43. and a touchdown. Lions will get the ball to start the third quarter here. Drive, man. Let’s go. Turn up the drop. Yeah, for sure. So, here we go. Third quarter action. Kickoff is a line drive going to be taken by Khali Fraven at the seven yd line. Lions take over now at their own 28 yd line. a little bit. I like Jack Campbell did. Lions at 289 yds in that first half. Golf up under center. Single back behind him is Montgomery. G takes the snap. this drive so far. 21 yd play, 10 yd play, 14 yd play, 12 yd play. That sets them up with a first and 10 at the Washington 14. Come on, you get this money. It is first and 10 from the 14. Go off the throw again. Does middle. J Mo angling to the end zone. Touchdown Detroit Lions. J Mo flips into the end zone for six. That’s all. Terrific work after the catch by number one that time. And the Lions start this third quarter with a big drive. 14 yds on the strike. Golf to Williams. Hey. Hey boy. Hey. I tried to land that. I tried to land that. I got to suck faster. Lions make a statement to start this second half. Lions have had it five times today. They’ve scored five times. Four touchdowns and a field goal. That is big stuff, man. Did you see how high I flipped, bro? Yes. You could have landed. I did. I could have, bro. But like I was just like I was in the earth and I thought I was just going to automatically land it. So I I didn’t even put my feet down. And Jameson Williams gets in for a touchdown. I mean, it was the Jameson Williams show, right? For that whole series. They got to stop the run. And number one line set to get the football back here after Washington goes 69 yds in nine plays. Five on one off the clock. Mariota with the touchdown pass to Samuels. They come up empty on the two-point conversion. So here come the Lions now from their own 18 yd line. Golf is going to work out of the gun. Play action. It’s Jame Williams. Now Williams is up the sideline. Still going and following out of bounds. Jame out running the defenders into Washington territory. That’s a 40yd connection from golf to Jameson Williams who’s having himself a big day. If you put it where he could catch it and run afterwards, it’s not many people going to catch J Mo. J Mo catches 102 yds today. Lions with a first down at the Washington 38. And this offense is just in a rhythm right now, especially with Dan Campbell calling the plays. Really seems like he’s got a good feel of how this game is flowing. A lot of body blows so far on this Washington defense. The Lions will send the field goal unit out. Try and tack three more on make this a three-score game. Six possessions today for Detroit. Four touchdowns, two field goals. Good job. Yes, sir. We wanted more involvement with Jameson Williams. We needed more from J Mo and we got it today. Dan K seems like he’s made an effort to get him the ball. Six receptions, 119 yards and a touchdown for J Mo. You know, this defense could use a stop here, right? Snap taken by Mario. Wants to throw it. Going to get going to get sacked. Brian Branch got him second time today. Some nice spin move. How about that spin move? Nice job. Look like Aiden out there. You don’t get a lot of inside moves when you’re blitzing from the secondary. That was impressive. Washington one out of six on third down today. Third and three here. Mariota works out of the gun. He’s got the football back looking. Throwing middle incomplete. Wanted Debo Samuel knocked away. Arthur Mlette got a hand in there and Washington’s going to send the punting unit out. I’ll tell you what the coaches are really going to love so far throughout this game is just everything that they’ve seemed to put an emphasis on throughout the week of preparation is showing today. Protection has been great. Run game has been borderline dominant. And then defense, you got to find a way to make a play. This team responds to the points that the coaching staff has given them. That’s going to bring us to the end of the third quarter. And with the rain falling, Burgundy clad fans head for the exits. They have been effective on the ground. They have been effective through the air. Dan Campbell has that whole playbook open right now and he’s utilizing it to his utmost right now. Detroit tosses it to Gibbs. Gibbs right side inside the 20 inside the 10 inside the five. Touchdown Detroit Lions 44 yds. You heir Gibbs putting together a day and the Lions have opened up that lead. It is now 41-6. My man got three touchdowns. Salute to him. Theing goat and he is not to be messed with. I might give him number one, but Lions have had it seven times today. They’ve scored seven times. Hit the first guy and then he went over the top. Came in the I got one. Oh, that’s a hell of a block. That’s one of the best That’s one of the best perimeter blocks I’ve ever seen. It is Mario rolling right, throwing. got a man wide open touchdown. It is caught by Ben Sinn. Washington will go for two now trailing 41-22. Murray and it’s Jack Campbell who wraps him up and does not allow him to cross the goal line. There’s that old school linebacker mentality. I love it. One-on-one in the hole. Bam. Meets him right there. Runs his feet. That is textbook linebacker play. Doesn’t get any better than that. Washington’s going to go for the onside kick. They have declared it here. So they will go for the onside. Yeah, I’m out here with the game. There is the runup. There is the kick and it is fielded by Detroit. So Kyle Allen is in at quarterback for Detroit. Oh my gosh. All smiles on that sideline right now. The only thing left in these stands right now is Honolulu Blue. And there’s a lot of it. These fans showed up and showed out today here in Washington. What a turnout, man. Go Lions. Go Lions. They have rushed for over 200 yards. They’ve got over 500 yds of total offense and they are just going to wind the clock here and run it out. Victorious. There’s your victory formation. Kyle Allen will take the snap, take a knee, and that’ll do it. Two teams will meet out in the middle of the field to say, “Job well done. Job better done on this day by your Detroit Lions as for just the second time since 1939, they have come on the road and beaten Washington. They do it today by a score of 44-22. They did everything that they needed to do today to come up with this big victory and also to get ready for a tough team next week. Hey man, that’s the way to go. All right, we don’t listen to what anybody else says about what we are, what we aren’t. We know what we are. We always bounce back. We just It’s about getting better every week. All right. There’s things we got to clean up. I got it. But man, that’s more like us. That’s a lot more like us. I’m proud of you guys, though. I didn’t expect anything different. I really did. I got one game ball. All right. This guy 25 of 33, 76% completion percentage, 320 yards, three touchdown. I love you boys. Uh, let’s keep going. Let’s get everything packed up.
