[Music] In today’s NBA matchup, Luca Donuch and the Los Angeles Lakers gear up for an exciting showdown against Zion Williamson and the struggling New Orleans Pelicans. Over their last 10 games, the Lakers are seven and three and hold the fifth spot in the West, while the Pelicans have stumbled to a 2-8 record, sitting at the bottom of the conference. Can the Lakers cruise to an easy win? Or will New Orleans shock everyone with an upset? Watch the full video to find out how it all unfolds. I [Music] you [Music] [Music] back to Pool and the dunk to finish it off. A beauty taking matters into his own hands. Yeah, we didn’t expect to see that kind of finish. A point guard getting up like that. Boy, that is special. Outside Smart Donic against Pool. Now here’s Donic T right on him. Offensive rebound. And here is P. Pass to Ni. Williamson outside. Pool the pass to Williamson. Shot clock at six. [Applause] Here’s Messi. Guarded by Smart. A shot by Messi. No good. Might rush that one a little bit. Pretty clean look inside. Now here’s Donic. [Music] A floater. And he makes the bucket. Gets the whistle. And now a three-point play chance here for him. Jordan, how about the balance of Donic on that possession? Amazing at just absorbing the contact and still with the strength to finish. You know, Greg, it’s been great to see the Pelicans get to the next level these past few seasons, hasn’t it? It has. And they’ve become one of the deeper teams in the NBA over that time. It’s not just about one guy. There’s talent up and down that roster. Here’s P and it’s Aton with the rebound here in the first. Just under two and a half minutes played so far. Reeves outside. Donic kicks to Eightton. This one for three. That’s good from Donic on the assist by Eightton. Donic has got eight. And we know Donis has limitless range, but for him it’s about becoming more consistent from deep. And so it’s New Orleans with it, trailing by four. And timeout called by Willie Green. He’s made the decision he wants to huddle up with his guys. [Music] Incredible. on defense the Lakers. I got him. I got him. Cool. The pass to Williamson. Williamson double team. Six to shoot. Jones for three. Lakers with the rebound. Not quite enough defense that time around. Just lucky he was off no good. Yeah, and that was lining up to be a huge alleyoop, but they just couldn’t quite connect. Just go to show how tight your timing needs to be on this kind of play. That one good for two. Williamson’s got his second basket. I’ll tell you, the plus wingspan is part of what makes Williamson so difficult to defend. Oh, pass to Eightton. Banked in off the glass. That is a strong move by eight. And he is merciless in there. Pelicans trail by four. Here’s Miy Cool with it. And he’s going up for the alley hoop. It’s stolen by Hatchima. Here’s Donic. Score the basket. His fourth. He’s only missed one of his five shots tonight. Creating space. Donic will move defenders around. And so Pool will bring it up for the Pelicans. Williamson outside, kicks it out to Jones, fires the three. Honic grabs the miss. Shocking that he just bricked that one. The defense got real lucky there. That’s not the type of opportunity he fails to convert very often. Nifty move and it’s Williamson missing. The Lakers on offense. They’re on a 12 to4 run right now. Hatimura with it. Jones covering to the middle. Here’s Smart. And slam dunk by Smart. That is impressive. Marcus Smart just punishing the defense with that finish. Pelicans trailed by eight. They could use a big shot here to get this offense going. Too many empty possessions right now. They need the basket. Williams right side. shoots overhead. Takes it into the teeth of the knee and converts the way up. Williamson’s got six now. Donic. He’s got 10. Aton sets the pick for Donic. His three-pointer’s off the mark. And even without that three ball dropping for him, the defense should have done more on that last play. And the latest now from our sideline reporter, David Aldridge. David, it’s all yours. Take it away, Kevin. The Pelicans are putting the ball in Zion Williamson’s hands. He said, “I’m just playing chess within the game, seeing how the defense is guarding me. I’m going to pick my spots. My teammates trust me to make the right decision, but they also trust me to be me, and that time is right.” Kevin, let you be you. And I love when you are you, David. Thank you so much. And timeout called by Willie Green looking for a breather and maybe just one or two things to talk about. And the Pelicans making a change here. They’ve checked in and the Lakers also making a switch. Hayes has checked in. Pelicans trail by nine. Cool with it from the arc. Cracks in the tray. He’s got five. He’s just such a well-rounded offensive player. He’s got a little bit of everything. Uh, Greg, it’s not the first skill you think about, but Jordan Pool is unreal at the foul line. I mean, led the league in 22 at 92 1.5% beating out teammate Steph Curry by 2/10 of a percent. P’s always been amongst the league leaders in attempts inside and he jams it after taking the nice feet on the run and finding his teammate and stride. He led his guy perfectly. Lakers leading by four outside smart [Applause] outside. There’s the three. It’s rebounded by P for New Orleans. They’ve gone six and 12 from the field here in the first quarter. Pass to Ni. Here’s Williamson. Then he goes big with the dunk right over DeAndre Eaton. Goodness. I mean, we feel those high dunks shake the floor. Here’s Dunic. He’s got 10. Here’s [Applause] Reeves driving inside and that time also a miss shot. New Orleans gone one of three from beyond the arc so far in the game at Williamson over Hayes and it’s Williamson missing. Lakers have gone an even 50% from the field. They are seven of 14 for the game. Out of bounds, New Orleans will take possession. So, both teams changing it up here. The Pelicans trail. Two minutes remaining in the two pass to bay. Clock at six. [Applause] Jacks up a three. Good on the three-point shot and the Pelicans lead by one. You give a shooter of his caliber that much time to seam it up. Oh yeah, you’re done. And JJ Reick is called. Timeout. He’s going to have a discussion here on the sideline. And something you see with the Lakers, they really trust their role players, don’t they, Richard? Yeah. LeBron does a great job of empowering his group. That’s why he’s top five in the league all time in assists. If you earn his trust, he will give you a ton of space to work. The Lakers know that they can only go as far as their great group of role players. Herbert Jones, he’s checked in for New Orleans. There’s a minute 34 left to play in the first quarter. James, the pass to Vincent. Throws it up high. Got a piece of it. Here’s Alberado defended by Vincent. And that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul. and really the defense fouling there to prevent the layup, but that’s exactly what you need to do. Guys, what do you think about the offensive approach so far that we’ve seen for New Orleans? I’ve really been impressed with how aggressive they’ve been inside, looking to capitalize from the paint whenever they can. And they’ve also done a great job turning defense into offense tonight, creating turnovers and capitalizing on the other end. The first free throw is good. Now, the Pelicans have lost in the first round GA of the playoffs in two of the last three years. And with how good the West is right now, they knew they couldn’t stand Pat. They felt the urgency to make some changes this off season in order to take the next step. Hey, he hits them both. And you can never really count out these Los Angeles Lakers, Greg, can you? No, I I I really don’t think you can. They they battle out of the playin tournament. They overcome obstacles and they have tremendous willpower. Nice shot by James. Punch, counter punch. Impressive offensive production early on. You have to think at this point the winner will be the one to settle in on defense. Right side Jones. Looney finds Jones. Six on the shot clock. Back to Looney. There’s the killer two-handed slam. And he might be small for a center, but boy can he jump out of the building. [Applause] They play the clock right, then go two for one. Just got to time it up right. James the pass to Vincent. [Applause] We’ve got 28 seconds left here in the opening quarter. Bass to Labraia and stolen by Bane. Here’s Jones and Jones slams it home. And that’s how to make an impact with defense. Once the steal is made, you know they’re going to be scattered. Hawkins against James. And the call is going to be Yes. Yes, it is an illegal screen. That’s going to draw a whistle every time down the floor. Not even close to being a legal screen. That’s a very avoidable turnover. You got to focus on the details. 8 seconds left in the first quarter of the game. Beyond the arc and he got that one up in time, but he disrupted. Winning the turnover battle is so important. They’ve been sharp so far and it’s showing up on the scoreboard. Here’s Vincent. Scoreless thus far. Jones is out there with Bay. Then it’s Jose Alvarado. Then it’s Cavan Looney. And it’s Hawkins in at the two spot. So that’s the group out there for New Orleans. Here’s James from 6 feet out. He nails it. James has got five points so far. A very skilled finisher inside. Even with defenders close, he’ll find a way to score. Hawkins against James. They set the pick. Here’s Bay and he’s good on the three ball. Bes got the lead up to five now for New Orleans. When he has that much space, he’s a pretty good bet to nail the three. Vanderbilt a screen on Hawin. James the pass to Vanderbilt shoots over Bay off target with the jump hook. New Orleans leading by five down low and Bay throws it down. But D just kind of stepping aside and letting him get to the rim. There’s a reason GA the lead is what it is right now. Yeah, it’s going to take better rim protection than that if they’re going to climb out of this hole. And JJ Reick calls timeout here. Wants to talk some things over. Might be seeing some things to adjust. Los Angeles making a switch here. Hatchimz checked in here in the second quarter with a little over a minute gone. Here’s Vincent. He’s defended by Alvarado. They set the screen off target with his three. New Orleans gone three of six tonight when they’ve let it fly from downtown. Jones kicks it to Looney. Outside Jones. New Orleans moving it around. Looney pass it to Hawkins. Five on the clock. [Applause] Count the basket. And now it’s a ninepoint Pelican lead. Analytics or the eye test? The optics or the numbers in front? Greg, when you’re judging the performance of a player, what kind of criteria do you use? Well, an MVP candidate recently said, “My eye test tells me this guy’s a terrible defender.” But the analytics tell me he’s a great defender. I’m confused. And and I often feel the same way. Off target there. That would have pushed the lead to double digits. Lakers trail by nine. Quarter two in just under two and a half minutes gone by. [Applause] James outside. Drills it from outside. James has got eight points. Pick works well there. Not much resistance from the D. Yeah, that just comes down to a lack of effort. The defender has to do a better job fighting through the screen. Bay finds Alvarado and pushing it up. Here’s Los Angeles. Whistle blows. Basket is good. So, a chance here for a three-point play. Yeah, exceptional play there to take the bump and still get it to fall. First trip to the free throw line for him tonight and not the guy you want to see at the line too often. Season numbers has him in the bottom tier of the league. Vanderbilt’s checked in for Hatchima. [Applause] Quarter number two around 3 minutes gone by to the wing on the left and it’s going to be out of bounds. The Pelicans will retain possession. Good one’s jumped in for Vincent for the Lakers. Number three, George Goodman. [Music] Here’s Alvarado. He has yet to score. Vanderbilt against Bay. Five to shoot. New Orleans needs to get off a shot. Alvarado and the Pelicans miss again. Lakers trail by three. Aravia passes to Goodwin. [Applause] Just under three and a half minutes played here in the second quarter. He lobbs up the alleyoop pass and the dunk by Vanderbilt and you can see him give a little nod and then just burst to the rim for the alleyoop slam. A pair of teammates, Greg, with a terrific feel for each other. [Music] Back to Alvarado. Now here’s Bay. He has seven and he gets the bucket. Ba’s got seven points here in the four quarter. Love how selfless he is setting brick screens like this. Plays like that right there are what help create easy scoring opportunities. Lakers have gone four of eight so far here in the second quarter. And here is James. He’s got eight. Shot from 12. It’s hauled in by Hawkins. [Applause] Front pass. The ark. nailed from three-point land and it’s a six-point New Orleans lead and he found a perfect spot behind the arc there. Big gap in the deep. Hayes with the screen for James over Hawkins. James misses. Well, they’ll be happy with that look even though it didn’t fall. Tough to watch those miss. I’m sure they’ll convert the next chance. Taken away by Hayes. Here we go. One-on-one [Applause] now. Here’s Vanderbilt. Defended by Looney and Hayes throws it down. That’s a stomach punch, guys. Turn it over and give him a free run to the bucket. Oh, you’re so right. No question who has the momentum now. That’s the last thing you need to happen down the stretch. Let’s see how they respond to the devastating punch. Pass to Hawkins. And here is Bay. [Music] Takes it inside. It’s rebounded by Hayes. And it’s Goodwin with the ball for LA. Now here’s James. He’s covered by Hawkins. Good on the bucket. Now just a two-point Pelican lead. New Orleans has gone two of four from three-point range so far in the second quarter. Atolooney. Here’s Alvarado. Gets that one to fall after missing his first two. One for three from the field. And they’ve repeatedly probed inside in the first half, guys. And it’s paid off. Lakers trail by four. Now James, he’s got 10. Good one finds James and the dunk by James. And some hang time on the rim. Puts a little cherry on the top of that slam. Well, those kind of displays of strength can get one team rolling. New Orleans has gotten fewer than half of their three-pointers to go down tonight. They’re four for nine. Here’s Bay. The Lakers with the rebound. Hayes has got his fourth rebound in this one and they take the lead. James has got 12 now in this quarter. We’ve seen the lead change hands quite a bit in this one. And guys, I think each team knows they can win this game. Just a matter who can catch that momentum. They set the pick. Bay no good. Lakers have gone eight of 14 in the second quarter on field goal attempts and James throws it down. Way ahead of the field. He can do pretty much whatever he wants. And those might be the easiest points of the month for him. Alvarado with it. Pass to Hawkins to the inside and he says right back at you with a big dunk of his own. And those plays can make a difference in a game like this. Well, you know it’s going to fire up Greg. everybody on that bench and you can feel the jolt of energy that he sent through his team. That is a huge boost in a tight game like this. And he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. points are coming from for the Lakers. They’ve really been dialed in from deep. This is a team that has a ton of confidence in their outside shooting ability. And one more thing they’ve done well tonight, they’ve attacked the rim viciously and have gotten a lot of points by just going at the defender. [Applause] And that one falls for Vanderbilt. And New Orleans going with a whole new group out there. Vanderbilt hits them both. And so it’s Willie Green here calling timeout. He wants a minute here to get things straightened out with this team. Hatimura. He’s jumped in for the Lakers. Pelicans trail by three. Here’s P. He’s got five. A three. It’s rebounded by Donic. Donic has got his fourth rebound in this one. [Applause] Fouled in the active shooting. Gets the bucket anyway. So, a three-point play chance for him. Staying in attack mode. Smart earning that and one all by himself. When it comes to the league’s most physical defenders, Richard, look no further than Marcus Smart. Yeah, he’s someone that has no problem sacrificing his body. Whether that’s taking charges or diving after loose balls, he is relentless. But Marcus Smart is the pulse of the team. He plays with passion and does whatever his team needs from him. [Music] Pass to Nissi [Music] Williams from long range. It falls for his fifth field goal of the night. Now shooting five for eight and far from the best shot. But all that matters is the end result. Somehow he sinks it now. Hatchimal. [Applause] Pick off in midair. And here’s the fast break and Williamson throws it down. And this is what we came to see, right? Go ahead. Do your thing on the alley. LA’s gone six of 11 when they’re taking the three-point shot tonight. Very respectable a screen on Jones. Reeves the pass to Eightton. Ni grabs the rebound and so Pool will bring it up for the Pelicans. outside Jones. New Orleans moving the ball around. Donic with a steel and now with the fast break. Smart with the ball. Deflects the pass. Pass to Donic and it’s good for two. Donic has got 12 points in the game. You can’t leave someone open when Smart is running his team because he will find that mistake. Williamson kicks to Pool. Here’s Messi. He’s covered by Eaton. There’s the pick. Just fine on the clock. Williamson dishes to Jones. Good. And the assist goes to Williamson. Jones has got it all tied up now for the Pelicans. You give a shooter of his caliber that much time to seam it up. Oh yeah, you’re done. Eightton sets the pick for Donic and the officials will call the illegal screen right there. Beyond the leaning, you could see his feet weren’t set on that screen. Easy call. Look, guys get away with this all the time. But on this occasion, he got caught. Pool against Donic. Pool kicks to Williamson. Now here’s pool guarded by Donic. It’s a tie game in. And if the next couple quarters are similar to the first, this one could go down to the last possession. It’s been a clinic out there by James. No problems fighting his way to the rim in this one. a lot of points in close and you love that mindset he has going at the rim. He hasn’t settled for anything and he’s been the aggressor all game long. So for the Lakers right now we’ve got Ruy Hatchim Luca Donets out there with Marcus Smart. Then it’s Austin Reed and it’s Aton in at the pivot spot manning the middle. Pelicans trail by three. to the paint. Pass to Williamson. Here’s Mishi. Pocket six. Outside Jones. [Applause] The Lankers with the rebound. Lobed up there for Hatchima and stolen by Williamson. Williamson double team and the foul on Marcus Smart. That is his first foul of the game. First team foul here in this third quarter. Just over a minute play. Jones with the bounce pass and it’s Williamson missing. Lakers leading by three. Pass to Smart. The shot’s good on the assist by Donic. Donic has got four assists now tonight. That’s just sheer will. Marcus Smart wanted that bucket inside. And sometimes you just got to make things happen. New Orleans gone six of 14 with the three ball tonight. Just a little over 40%. Williamson against Hatchima. The kick out to Pool. Cranes it from beyond the arc. Pool’s got eight. You cannot leave him alone like that, especially from long range. Los Angeles has gotten off 12 shots from beyond the arc tonight, hitting seven of them. Smart on the wing. Seven points in the game. on deep. Reeves hits it from three-point range. Reeves has got a pair of threes now here in the third for the Lakers. Pelicans trail by five. Now here’s P. He’s got eight over Donic and P gets it to go. P’s got five points now in the quarter. Oh, he had him spinning. He looks like he’s dizzy after that crossover. Eightton a screen on P down low and Aon throws it down. Lethal in pick and roll action. Aiden making them pay. Well, we’re into the third quarter. Just over two and a half minutes played. Mr. Williamson from down low uses the glass to drop it in. He’s got 15. This man has entered the zone. Great shooting performance from him all game long. And it’s Smart with the ball for the Lakers. Their biggest lead of the game was nine. Donic with a screen for Smart. Out to Donic. Fires for three. Good. And Smart gets the assist. Smarts got assist number five here tonight. And we’re so used to Donic operating with the ball in his hands, but it’s good to see him mix it up and work off the catch. Pass to Jones. [Applause] Williamson with it. And Hatchima picks him up defensively. Williamson against Hatchima. Six to shoot. The three from Pool. Offensive rebound. Nice work on the board. It’s paying off at the basket. They didn’t have much of a problem getting the ball into the post that time. Just over three and a half minutes through the third quarter of play now. And here’s Smart. He’s got seven on the wing. Donic. Oh, an easy two from Donic. The skill of Donic at 67 230, it makes him an impossible matchup defensively. And so it’s New Orleans with it. Pool the pass to Williamson. Pass to Pool. Three-pointer. That’s in. That’s his fifth field goal. He’s shooting a hot 71%. Five for seven. Reeves outside. Eighton with it. Back to Reeves. Just five to shoot. Oh, in position now. pool. He’s got 13. Stolen by Smart. Hatimura. The pass to Donic. Outside Smart. Shoots the three. It’s rebounded by P. Yeah, that’s a shame cuz I’m not sure the defense will let him get a shot that good again very soon. And the shot goes in. Now just a one-point Laker lead and Zion able to convert on that second chance opportunity. Reeves the pass to Donic [Applause] and again no good by the Lakers. New Orleans has gone two of five with a three-point shot since coming out of the break. It’s stolen by Hatchima. And now with the fast break, Smart with the ball. Got to take care of the ball. They’ll punish you if you’re that careless. That’s right. And that’s severe punishment right there. An important two points, not just on the scoreboard, but also for a little bit of momentum. Williamson outside for the tie from beyond the arc and then some. Williamson’s got seven points here in the sport. Well, when Zion is hitting jumpers, it it’s almost unfair. Craig, one of the best assets of Zion Williamson is his versatility and the combination of power and skill. It’s obviously unique. And what I love about him is he’s making better and better decisions. He’s become as reliable as he is explosive to the inside. Hi. Oh, and that one, no question, powered it down. He finds a shooter in motion and is confident he can threat him with the lead pass. Well done. Lakers have gone seven of 10 on their field goal attempts here in the third. [Applause] Here’s Donic. It’s rebounded by New Orleans. Williamson’s got four rebounds now tonight. Pass the pool. [Applause] act to Williamson shoots over Himura and it’s Williamson missing. Los Angeles has gotten the three-pointer to fall to the tune of 50% here in the third quarter. They’ve made three of six. Aton finds Donic, fires the three, unable to get that one. The Pelicans have gone eight of 13 on shot attempts to begin the second half. Williamson dishes to Jones inside. The kick out to Pool. [Applause] Rebounded by DeAndre Eaton. Eightton’s got four rebounds now tonight to the middle and then with the jam and proving to be effective around the rim. Hakima leaving no doubt about that. Here’s P. 13 points in the game. And so it’s Willie Green here calling timeout. And coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. Big group substitution here for the Lakers. Jackson A’s. He’s checked in for eight. Anderville comes in for Hatchimal. James checked in for Smart. And it’s Gabe Vincent in for Donic. [Applause] Here is Hawkins. He has five. [Music] There’s the pick down low. Taken away by Hayes inside. Here’s Vanderbilt and the dunk by Vanderbilt. That’s a double whammy, guys. That’s right. A great defensive play. Then the emphatic stop. Yeah. Once he poked it away, you knew what was on his mind. Back to Alvarado. New Orleans moving it around. Bay against Vanderbilt. Bay with it. He’s got nine. Just four to shoot. Launches it. Hangs home the trifecta. Ba’s got 12 points in the game. Third quarter, guys. And this has been a neck andneck game. Both teams getting it done defensively as evidenced by the eight lead changes thus far. Here’s Vincent. And again, it’s the Lakers. The the mid-range jumper is a high percentage shot for him. And when he’s got that much room, forget about it. Pass to Hawkins. Stolen by Reeves. [Applause] And the Lakers making a change here. Arabius checked in. 103 left to play in the third. Here’s Vincent. He’s got five. The shot no good. New Orleans has got more than a 50% success rate on their three-pointer since halftime. They’re four of seven. And Bay able to finish. Ba’s got five points now this quarter. Oh, and a nice job of turning that miss into two points on the tip end. Hustle points, I believe they call them. Hustle points right there. Here’s Vincent. He’s defended by Alvarado. and contact on the shot. So, he’ll be shooting free throws here. Lakers shooting their sixth and seventh free throws in the game. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] All right. The first one falls. And so Vincent nails both of them. And at the line, it’s all about consistency with him. His routine, his stroke, it never waivers. Here’s Alvarado defended by Vincent out to the right wing of the game. Yeah, an easy choice tonight. Look at the precision on this pass. Put it on a platform. You’ve got to admire the vision just as much as the accuracy. Not many players can even spot that pass. And with three quarters behind us, we start the fourth quarter in what is still anybody’s ball game. We’ve got Sadique Bay. Hawkins is out there with Jose Alvarado. Then it’s Kaban Mooney. So that’s the group out there for New Orleans. Here’s Vincent and the bucket is good. Three-point play chance here for him. And a closer look here at the hustle stats for Los Angeles. Great heads up defensive play tonight, creating offensive opportunities for themselves by forcing deflections. And another thing, guys, they dominated on fast breaks tonight, outrunning their opponent the entire game. One shot. [Applause] [Applause] Pelicans trail by four. Pass to Hawkins. Now Looney. Now here’s Bay and the three off target. Now here’s Vanderbilt and that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. Shooting for Jeff is Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. Two shots. [Applause] And that one falls for Vanderbilt. And so he’s able to get one of two. Not perfect, but that opens this up to a two-possession lead. Hawkins kicks to bay [Applause] Looney. Here’s Alvarado. Drills the three-pointer. Defensively, you can’t back off him that much. You don’t want to give up easy threes at this stage of the game. James outside, pulls it up. Pelicans with the rebound. Now El Verado and he drives in, lays it up off the glass. El Barado’s got the game tied up here for the Pelicans and giving up some inches inside, but makes up for it with an aggressive stop. Yeah, you can give up some size, but that shows you how fearless he is. willing to attack the basket no matter who is in front of him. [Applause] James looking around. [Applause] Here’s Hayes and he gets the basket. Officials blowing the whistle. So, a chance at the line for one more. You love how each side has risen to the challenge throughout this one. Man, this has been a fun one. But look, who doesn’t love a high-scoring game? And the Pelicans making a change here. May checked in. One shot. Hayes no good on the free throw. New Orleans has gone one and two from three-point range here in the fourth. And that one good. A sharp pass to set up that high percentage shot in close outside James and play stops whistle on what looks to be an illegal screen. Just lost his head out there. It’ll happen if you’re pushing a little too hard. Beyond the leaning, you could see his feet more set on that screen. Easy call. Look, guys get away with this all the time. But on this occasion, he got caught. Pass to Bay. [Music] [Applause] It’s Hawkins on the wing. A three-pointer is right on target. And now it’s a three-point Pelican lead. And perimeter scoring, I have to imagine it was a topic of discussion at halftime. And you see this so much more nowadays in the NBA. Teams putting a larger emphasis on jacking up threes to the inside. Here’s James. That shot is good. He has made eight while missing only four. That’s 67% shooting. And that’s right in his wheelhouse. Looking to make an impact when it counts. And his team needs every bit of his production if they want to pull this one out. It is neck and neck here in the final period. Pass to Bay. There’s a good screen from deep. Vanderbilt with the rebound for Los Angeles. They’ve gone three of four in field goal attempts since getting things started here in the fourth. James with the bucket. He’s found his rhythm from deep and and you can see the confidence and of course it helps space the floor which gives this offense more room to operate. Here is Hawkins. James defending. [Applause] A bit under three and a half minutes have passed here in the fourth. And here is Bay trying to answer back, but that three is off the mark. Greg, their offensive approach has been rock solid here. And they’re finding the weak spots in the D and attacking them. Really hard to count how many of their possessions have ended just like that one with one of his shots falling. Efficiency is key, especially down the stretch. Pass to Hawkins. They need this kept alive. Missed inside. Lakers leading by five. Right wing and he lobbs it up toward the rim and Hayes throws it down. Nice play. And you can see they’re gathering momentum. Yeah, but they can’t relax. They’ve got to keep building on this lead because it is not safe. New Orleans has gone two of five on three-point shots since the end of the third quarter. And here’s Looney to Bay. Shot clock at six or the three. connects from three-point range. Kick works well there. Not much resistance from the deep. Yeah, that just comes down to a lack of effort. The defender has to do a better job fighting through the screen. And JJ Reick calls timeout here. He knows every possession is critical now. [Applause] Both teams deciding to change it up. And with an update from the sidelines, let’s check in with David Aldridge. Hey guys, JJ Reick’s message with his team was simple. He demanded something of his guys. He said, “I’m not satisfied yet. Are you? You’ve worked hard, but we need to keep ping on. Don’t give them any hope, guys.” Thank you, David. To the paint. Cru with the steel. And here comes the break. Loads it up for Williamson. An emphatic Lu jam. and he’s capable of being so dominant offensively. Zion just trampling the defense. And so Donic will bring it up for the Lakers. Pass to Aton. Donic with a screen for Eightton. Breeze finds a knocks it loose. And now the Pelicans on the break. Here’s Missy. Hammers it home to polish off the break. That’s a stomach punch, guys. Turn it over and give him a free run to the bucket. Oh, you’re so right. No question who has the momentum now. That’s the last thing you need to happen down the stretch. Let’s see how they respond to the devastating punch pass to Hatchima. The shots good on the assist by Donic. Donic has got six assists now in the game. Just solid with the jump shot. Hachimura helps your offense in a number of ways. In that case, spacing the floor. Jones against Reeves. Jones looking for an opening. Lock at six. A miss that time would have put him up. The Lakers in the lead. Pass to Smart. Aton against Pool up top. Reeves. Hatimura. The pass to Aton. Goes up on the high post. And Jones pulls it down. And he’s very confident from that range, but he can’t make them all. They set up the pick and here’s P for three. It’s rebounded by Donic. Donic has got his fifth rebound in this one. Shoots over Pool and off the front iron and in it goes. Donic has got 19 points. How about the poise from Donic right there? He he ups the Annie when it’s a critical possession here in the game. [Applause] There’s 25 seconds left in the fourth quarter. And so it’s Willie Green here calling timeout. He’s clearly intent on wanting to lock in and make sure everyone’s on the same page. Heat. Heat. Jones kicks to Pool Hitch with a steel and an intentional foul right there. Third personal foul team is in the penalty at the line for the Lakers. Donic. Two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. So, the first one drops and that makes it a seven-point lead. And a tough break is his second attempt at the line. No good. And Greg, it looks like time is going to run out on him here.
