Doc Rivers Postgame Press Conference | 11.09.25

utionwise. I think yeah, we we I thought we were bad on both ends of the floor defensively. Um I this this game for me like you know they’re a good team and but it was a game that I thought um was very winnable for us. Um and I it’s frustrating. I I thought we didn’t execute offensively at all. The ball stopped moving and I thought defensively um we gambled. We did things that we just can’t do. So, uh, that led to a lot of stuff. Um, you know, they were amazing on the offensive glass and I thought we were in there for the fight. Even when we’re big, they were still getting them. Uh, but in the first half, I thought the difference in the game was we turned them over, so it was equal. In the second half, we turned it over and they kept getting offensive rebounds and that made it a tough game to win. Uh, obviously Durant such a handful. Um, late defensively, I know you throughout the game, you tried a number of guys on him late. I think it was Giannis with some help there. Just what were you trying to get done defensively? Just make them play in the crowd, you know. Um I I thought we were very average in our coverages on Durant. I thought we messed some things up. So he’s and he’s good. So he doesn’t need much help. You mentioned the lack of ball movement. I think it was 20 assists on 24 buckets in the first half, just five assists in total in the second. What What changed there? Was it them or No, it was us. I didn’t think we execute anything. We didn’t run much. Uh the ball stayed on one side and was it was everybody. Uh we run a pick and roll play and whoever got it tried to make a play. Um I thought our our shooters were trying to be playmakers. Um you know, I I was not happy with how we played. Um we haven’t spoken about it much or at all this year, but kind of a closer game. um free throw shooting just team wise. Yeah, we just struggled overall tonight, you know. Um what were we 14 for uh 24, you know? Is there I mean you guys are last in the league so kind of across the What do you What do you want me to do? You want me to tell them to make free throws? Yeah. I mean the question is is I don’t know what the answer is. Like we practice them. We work on them. I mean it is what it is. We are better free throw shooting team in my opinion. Some of our key guys are missing free throws. I think by the end of the year, I doubt if they will, but I don’t know what you want me to do, you know, other than let’s make free throws, you know. You mentioned the turnovers you were you were able to force in the first half. Yeah. What were y’all doing right there? I thought we were great. I thought our helps were great. Um we had a every time Sangon spin mural uh that we were fantastic in. And I think we got three or four of them. Second half we were late on them. Uh I’m just saying uh and I haven’t watched it. It was I was frustrated when we were up 10. I was I was frustrated when we were up 10. I just thought it should have been 20 and we had a chance to put them away and we didn’t and we didn’t because of of our self-inflicted wounds and that was the difficult one. And then when they made the run, we never could get out of it. Uh I thought that was a huge nine call uh the Durant charge. um was a charge and then it led to a three-point play. Uh but other than that, like you know, our guys were complaining about the one call. I said, “They didn’t do this. We did this. This is a self-inflicted loss by us.” And and we have to own that. All of us, coaches, players, everybody. Uh I mean, over the years, you you think of closing lineups and okay, it’s going to be Chris and Giannis in the two-man game or team and Giannis in the two-man game. how it’s with it just being more Giannis, you know, but Giannis in in one of our scores, uh there’s there’s a plethora of guys and it usually is matchup determined. Uh just with that, is this going to be some of the growing P like this is like your first like close game late? Yeah, tonight it was I thought we’ve had uh some of the other games were close, but we didn’t let them get close because we executed. Tonight we just didn’t execute. Um, I think whoever said it, you know, five assists in the second half, 20 in the first, I don’t think much more needs to be said.

  1. Same bucks , when they play the top contenders they get exposed defensively offensively rebounding, and coaching of course, so nothing has changed.

  2. We did it to ourselves! We took our foot off the gas, left guys in way too long, over played our small ball and never look like we know the game plan.

  3. Very undisciplined team. Everyone just out there doing their own thing. We have shooters thinking they are point guards, but can't pass or hold onto the ball to save their lives, point guards putting on their worse Steph Curry impression and for some reason everyone acted like rebounding the ball was a fine! You see the highs of this team and how far they can go and then you see the lowest of the lows all in one game, smh.

  4. The rotation, lineups, & minutes played per player were all bad judgment. This was not Green's game. He was a total lost since Q1. We need to play bigger or match our opponents' line-up. That's probably why we get out rebound.🤦‍♀️ There was no reason why Green had more minutes than Kuz tn & why dafuqq Doc keeps benching players who are playing good?? Cole should've kept playing until he was fouled out. LITERALLY. This game was solely all on coaching.

  5. We need a taller 3 & D player bad i love AJ and Gary Trent but they aren't a defensive stopper they certainly can play good defense but hopefully something in the trade deadline

  6. My main questions are how do you get grown men/ professionals to kept the ball moving. It’s the same thing every damn game. Data shows when we move the ball we get the shots that we want.

2nd: Limit Bobby minutes. Play sims more. Young, athletic big that can switch, jump, block and alter shots. WTH are we doing. He’s a lob threat too. If they can play Clint and Adams we can play Sims

  7. Bucks only shot 29 3s. You need to be closer to 50. Also Giannis needed to be subbed out for a bit in the 4th to keep him fresh. Lastly the rebounding needs to improve. I get the Rockets are a tall team but they doubled the total rebounds of the Bucks and tripled the offensive rebounds.

  8. Why was Kuzma on the bench late in the 4th? Then GTJ defending GayD? Why did you stick with AJG in this game, he was being destroyed? Then FT’s are the cheapest baskets, they cost nothing on defense or offense, they’re free, so make 6 more versus miss like 12 of them we at least tie or win! And we missed key FT’s at the end of the game! This L pisses me off, why is FT’s even a conversation? These missed Free Baskets are the difference between winning and losing, especially in the playoffs! Also AJG played 26 minutes scores 3 points, since he was struggling at 1 for 5, why not go with Ajax to intensify defense and speed, he has quicker feet, more athleticism and quickness, sometimes it’s about matchups, Ajax could’ve been a problem with his hustle and aggressive rebounding, Walls of Jericho is more athletic than almost everyone on the court last night, we were losing the rebounding battle but you put non-athletic Bobby (though we love Bobby) in the game, instead of mucking it up a bit? Even if you gave him 10 mins to take some fouls! Though I think we still lost from missed free throws and rebounding, especially in crucial moments! Doc and coaching staff, DO Better at telling Doc to get his head out of his own ash and switch it up!
