Yeah yeah yeah, clippers got Kawhi in the deal. Got him playing like 30 games a season. Both of them didn’t do much in the end anyways so it doesn’t matter. Tho they had potential of course

Clippers really think that if they kept the pick they would’ve selected Jdub or something. They would’ve probably end up drafting AJ griffin or something instead somehow if we’re being real

  1. The clippers just played 2k using the trade finder that day u can’t convince me otherwise

  2. That’s how good Russ made Paul look during their last season here. He was playing like the MVP from Christmas to the All-Star break, so Ballmer got fooled into thinking he was getting the perfect star to play alongside Kawhi.

  3. I mean in the moment it made sense for both teams. clippers were convinced he would go to lakers if not them, owner wanted to make a splash. obviously it ended up being super lopsided, but the prospect of pairing Kawhi who just won finals mvp and paul george who finished 3rd in mvp was worth going for

  4. I honestly still love that dude. Those 2018-2019 teams were fun to watch IMO even though we basically knew we wouldn’t be winning any playoff series. I’ll defend PG to this day – he was an elite, lockdown defender that could shut down basically anyone in the league. He could easily go off for 30-40 on any given night and when his shot was on, he was unstoppable that last season in OKC.

And let’s not forget him resigning with OKC – that made the trade to the clippers possible in the first place. He worked with Presti to make that trade to the Clippers happen. PG-13 will always be one of my favorite players of all time honestly.

  5. If we didn’t have Clippers pick Presti would have chosen Dub instead of Deng. He only didn’t pick Dub first for the off chance his trade fell through

  6. Hindsight is 20/20 but based on the information you had at that time, you do that trade as the Clippers.

Let’s not forget that Kawhi just came off a championship looking like one of the best players on the planet and PG13 had an insane season (third in MVP voting). Clippers were also looking like a team that were just a few superstar talents from tearing up the league.

There was hope that SGA could become an all star, but to this level was absolutely insane. To get JDub too is a huge cherry on top.

We, as a franchise, are super blessed.

  7. Never gonna have hard feelings towards PG. It was a fun couple of regular seasons, plus he actually kept it quiet that he wanted to move on and made sure OKC was made whole from the trade.

There’s a part of me that still would have loved to see them make it work in that 2018 series vs. Utah and see how far they could have gone in the playoffs. That team was fun on its own merits until Mitt Romney started clowning on the Thunder.

  8. PG was overrated and we knew that. Got out while the getting was good. Playoff P is still the worst nickname of all-time

  9. To be fair, if they had a little bit more luck, they might have already won the championship in the bubble.
