  1. I don’t get that mentality, even if you weren’t trying to win as a team, wouldn’t you still try to get better as a player?

  2. Held hostage to be paid millions to play basketball in the same place he did before… So he shouldn’t have to practice or train.

Hmmmm. Yeah no. Play and train properly and set a good example as you are being paid for. Or don’t get paid and don’t show.

  3. I think that’s pretty damning on Brett that he just let Thad do what he wants.

Makes you think about how little influence he probably had when it came to improving Ben Simmons mentality and focus in relation to his weaknesses, shooting etc.

  4. I understand his frustration, but this mentality is exactly why he didn’t become a better player than he was.

  5. It was one season and they weren’t even the worst team in the league. I’m guessing based on the comment about trades on the table, he’s really only talking about the end of the season after the deadline. That 26-game losing streak was pretty bad, but I think he’s being a bit dramatic by saying he was held hostage when they traded him a couple months later.

  6. Honestly I can’t blame him, those teams were trash, it was not something that a guy like him or any vet would want to be a part of. I was good with trading him sooner than we did too.

My thoughts on thad from then don’t change.

  7. These comments are so fucking stupid he averaged 15 points a game for the Process Sixers. Whether he practiced 4am to 12am he was going to be an average player he’s not suddenly going to change his career trajectory. “This is a terrible mentality don’t you want to be a better player? Blah blah blah” no he’s the best player on one of the worst teams of all time he’s guaranteed another contract he’s not fighting the Nazis

  8. Its kind of amazing what players/former players will admit to so long as you give them a microphone, a comfortable couch, and a cheesy podcast set background.

  9. Henkie’s mentality is exactly why he hasn’t been rehired and now lives in obscurity

  10. People want to shame him for this approach? Cool, but Thad still managed to stick around in the league up until last year. His career survived the shithole trust the process era and he won in the end. He will always be one of my favorite Sixers ever

  11. Wow, sounds like a real winner that definitely would have been a major piece on a championship contending team with that mentality
