Seahawks DT Byron Murphy II Is An ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE… | Seattle Seahawks |

Byron Murphy is becoming exactly who he thought he was going to be coming out of the draft. And right here, the offense comes out in 13 personnel. Essentially, one running back in the back field and three tight ends, an extra offensive lineman as well. One, two, three. 13 personnel. Now, Byron Murphy’s lined up in this zero technique where essentially that means he’s lined up over the center. Now, the offensive line is kind of going to be in this slide protection where they’re sliding their center off to double team or combo block to the outside here, and they’re trying to slide their right guard to Byron Murphy. But the thing that they don’t understand is as a zero tech, right, as a nose, Byron Murphy is a lot quicker than a lot of people think. So, watch him get off the line of scrimmage extremely fast. Fast here, generate instant pressure in the back field. And off the play action, Brassette is under pressure. Right now, listen, I know he doesn’t get a sack here, but at the end of the day, the only thing I look at with defensive linemen is the amount of pressures, the amount of times that they are able to create a little bit of stress for a quarterback. Now, whenever we can create a pressure on a quarterback, you can create one of six different situations. whether it’s a bad throw by the quarterback, maybe it’s a bad decision, maybe it’s an interception, maybe you end up getting the sack off the pressure, maybe you force a fumble off the sack, or maybe you even uh generate a holding call on the offensive line. Byron Murphy in this last game did a really good job generating pressure on the quarterback, right? I think he had five total pressures in this game. No sacks, but again, was able to get to the quarterback. So, we’re going to break down Byron Murphy. I’m going to show you why he is becoming a monster on this defensive line and uh is a big factor of why the Seahawks team is so good right now. So, hit the like button, subscribe, join the family, and let’s let’s just dive into some film. Here’s another solid play. The offensive line is going to be in what we call a fiveman scap protection. They’re going to slide their offensive line to the right and they’re going to have man-to-man to the left. Now we’re lined up kind of right around that outside shoulder of the guard and we’re going to get that one-on-one here with Byron Murphy. You’re going to see him get inside leverage early. Plants that right foot into the ground, explodes to to the inside shoulder, and because that center is already kind of sliding off to the right. We do a really good job getting leverage. We’re going to hook underneath our strong arm. We’re kind of going to get underneath the shoulder pads. And as we generate that leverage with the hook, you kind of have all like you have a clear lane, right? Essentially, so as he’s getting to the quarterback, it forces this ball to come out early and it’s a terrible throw underthrown. Probably could have been a touchdown if there was no pressure. He had to force it out a little bit earlier than he wanted to. Again, it’s a little bit underthrown for Marvin Harrison Jr., but I don’t think this happens if we don’t get pressure on the quarterback. This is why it’s so important to be generating pressure. So again, right here, Byron Murphy lined up over that guard, lands that right foot, gets inside leverage, hooks underneath the the arm. Right now, he’s got no control. The off the guard has no control at all. And boom, forces that ball to come out early. Again, under throw. Beautiful job by Byron Murphy. This guy continues to impress every single game I see him playing. This is actually one of my favorite plays. So, he’s lined up in a four eye. Essentially, what that means is he has he’s on the inside shoulder of the tackle. We also had a wide five technique to the outside as well. Um, we got a five technique. We got a a wide nine technique over here. But he’s in the four eye on the inside shoulder of that tackle. Does a really good job. We know right away that this tackle has to go to the outside. So, we’re probably just creating a little bit more room unless they slide the protection to him. We’ll see what happens. Right. They come on what, 21 personnel, two backs in the back field, one tight end. Okay. So, we’re going to the outside leverage. Okay. So, he plants that right foot into the ground. Boom. Gets left. Gets to the inside shoulder. Once we see that that center kind of slides his protection to the other side, look at all the room we have here. Okay. So, normally we’d want to take advantage of all that space we have. So, instead of going to that right side, he actually pivots to the inside. Boom. We get inside leverage. We have so much room to work with that. Look, look at the drive strength. gets right to the quarterback, drives his guard back, maybe two to three yards from right here. Boom. Beautiful job. And we’re right there. We’re right there. So close to a sack. And ultimately DB makes a really good play. I would like to say that I don’t know if he forces a bad throw. It’s actually not a bad throw, but maybe a bad decision. Maybe not really open here. Let’s watch from this angle again. Gets inside leverage here. Works his way through. I mean I mean we might have like a five yard gap. So, as he makes contact here, boom. Okay, so that other angle was kind of misleading. He drives him back about six yards. Oh, wow. I thought it was like two, three. No, he drives this man back six yards. It doesn’t even look like he does too much. What a play here by Byron Murphy, man. Off the off the impact, right? He’s at the 32 yard line. Let’s see where he ends up. 32 yardd line to the wow like 31 uh or 25 26 32 to the 25 26 yard line. Yeah, Byron Murphy is different. Monday Night Football is officially here. We got Packers, we got Eagles. Should be a really good game. At least in my opinion, it’s got that potential. Now, I am having so much fun in the sleep app. I can possibly over 1,000x my money every single day on this app. And it is been so much fun so far. And I kind of wanted to share you some of my picks before we do so. And you guys can see them. But if you use my promo code dubs, you see it right here. You are going to get a 100% match deposit up to $100, which means if you put in $100, they’re going to give you $100. If you put in 50, they’ll give you 50, right? It is a steal. A steal. I would do it just for that. Now, take a look at my picks. So, I’m going Saquon Barkley more than 50 rushing yards. AJ Brown more than 40 receiving yards. Jaylen Herz at least one touchdown. Jordan Love more than 200 passing yards. And Romeo Dobs more than 40 receiving yards. It’s all lower than you may think. And and I think it’s safe. I 30 to win 63. Not too crazy, not too wild. Let me know what you guys are doing for tonight. Are you going big? Are you staying safe? Let me know. And let’s get back to the video. Okay, another really good rep here by Byron Murphy. this time lined up in the three technique. I believe he’s over the guard. I can’t really tell though. He might actually be a little bit more inside. Um, but lined up right inside the guard, outside the guard, over the guard, don’t matter at this point in time because he’s going to get a one-on-one match up. You could tell the offensive line was really not scared of Byron Murphy in this game. They would slide away from him every single time, creating these one-on-one opportunities to his side. And um, that’s why he was able to generate so much pressure in this game is because they were kind of disrespecting him. Uh, if I’m being honest, again, guess is a one-on-one match up here. You do have a a running back in the back field, probably on the chip and release, and he does chip, just doesn’t really do a good job. Byron Murphy contains or um maintains the one-on-one here, explodes through, forces that ball to come out early once again. This time is actually a really good throw with anticipation on the corner to um Trey McBride, but man. Okay, so where is he lined up? right in. Okay, so he’s like he’s more of like a one technique right on the outside shoulder of the center. Um I mean so quick. I love how he’s so good at kind of misleading where he’s going. Planting that right foot into the ground, getting all the weight onto the guard uh or onto the guard’s outside foot as we explode back to the inside. He’s so good at that. So good at that. And he did that like almost every single rep. Now, let me take a look at the uh the Seahawks stats real quick from the year. The Seahawks are pretty much exactly where I thought they would be. One of the best offenses in football, but one of the best defenses in football. This is a championship team right here. Usually, you see teams with a top five offense and a top five defense make the N uh NBA the uh Super Bowl. This is a great sign. This is a great sign. Uh, first of all, they’re dominating in run defense, which means offenses are unpredict or predictable. Um, because they can’t get the run game going. That is huge. Second of all, they’re forced to pass the game 30th, right? They’re they’re they pass the ball most in the league. Offenses are forced to pass the ball so much, which is a good thing because again, it goes back to being predictable. Um, but they’re also ranking number 10 in completion percentage allowed, ranking uh number nine in interception percentage, but most importantly number eight in QB sack percentage um forced. Right. So that that’s a huge number right there in this game specifically. Let’s see. They had 35 pressures. 35 pressures. Nosu had six. Byron Murphy had f five. Derek Hall had five. Leonard Williams had five. Boy Maf had four. Demarcus Lawrence had three. We know about the touchdowns. Tyresese Knight had two. He had a great game. Six tackles as well. So many pressures. Seven sacks in this game. His defense is different, man. And one major reason of that is because Byron Murphy, five pressures in this game. I mean, how many is he does he have on the season right now? 30. He’s got in seven sacks. Yeah, we need to be covering this man more. I don’t know why I’m not. Seven sacks in 10 weeks from an interior defensive lineman. Yeah, sign me up. He’s on pace for like 12, which is really good. How many pressures? 30 pressures. Yeah. Yeah. This guy’s This guy’s really good. Let me know what you guys think. Hit the like button, subscribe, join the family, turn on post notifications for more Seahawks film. I’ll see you in the next one.
