Head Coach Raheem Morris reflects on Falcons OT loss to Colts in Berlin, Germany | Press Conference
you know, get that thing in overtime and uh we had a plenty of opportunities to win it and we just got to find a way to get better whether it’s stopping the run or whether it’s covering kicks better, returning the ball better or converting on third down. You know, all the things that kind of hurt us today. So, uh we got to find a way to win those games. Uh yeah, coach, what was the you mentioned stopping the run? What was the plan today to to do that against back? He’s a great player. He made people miss. Um he was able to get yards when it wasn’t there. He was able to get yards when it was there. Um and if you get a chance to get out on the open grass with that guy, he is trouble. And we let him out there once and he made us pay for it. And um that’s what great players do. What uh in the return game were they able to exploit? You know, we got to make tackles. We got to hold leverage. We can’t punt the ball down the middle of the field. Um there’s a bunch of different things that go down there. um we got to go down and make tackles that finally was get those guys on the ground particularly in situations when it’s winning time and we had opportunities to win it um at the end there and give them a big time return allowed those guys to get into field goal range and do the things they need to do to put that thing in overtime. Passing game was not sharp today. Can you diagnose that at this moment? Uh very good defense. You know, they came out particularly on third down and uh hit us with some zero pressure, some fake zeros, a couple different things. They got some protection issues, made us run around for a little bit. Uh we had a couple drops. Um, our guys, you know, came out, fought well, played hard. You know, Michael always plays well, fights hard along with all those guys. So, we got to find a way to get better. Was his accuracy good enough? Uh, you know, obviously got to go look at that. But, um, you know, Mike Mike played well. Mike Mike played well like he always does. Goes through the process. We’ll figure all those things out and figure it out when we get there. Look at it. I know that we talked earlier in the week about their show today. I mean when you look at what needs to happen moving forward I mean what does this is now I think 22% over the last four weeks you you got to get better once something that was a strength for us and it’s become a weakness over the last two weeks uh and you got to find a way to convert those third downs you got to get them shorter you got to get them more manageable and we do get a chance to get those third downs we got to get them you know we can’t have drops we can’t have uh any situation protection problems or whatever the case may be we got to figure out how to get those things And coach, we talk about the pass rush. How happy are you? I think we got seven sacks against Daniel Jones. Was are you happy with the effort from the players today? You know, I’m happy with the effort from the players. You know, obviously uh it’s hard to say happy with anything when you lose football games, but I’m pleased what we’re able to do to those situations. We have some situations out there you like to have back. Um the guys did a nice job of being able to force some pressures, being able to uh really create some problems. Uh but the the the biggest part about it is we got to find a way to create problems at the crit most critical moments. Um and we did not. Will you change the way you address your team at all given you lost four straight? You’re kind of in a tough situation right now in terms of getting back. You know, you change it every single week. You know, based on uh what the messages, what you need to do, what it takes to win each game. We talk about every game every single week. And it takes something different to win every single game. And uh they’ll require something different this week. And we’ll talk about all those things. We’ll look at it. We’ll be detail. We’ll be sharp. We’ll practice. Uh the guys do the right thing like they always do. They’ll respond. We’ll find a way to kind of win this game next week. Coach, what do you make of the struggles the team had on special teams stopping the different return situations kickoffs and just struggles the team had in those areas? They got, you know, two really three really good returners um that we addressed this week and we talked about and we wanted to get down and hold down leverage and obviously we did not hold down leverage. Um those guys made us pay in all on all all facets. Um, you know, one was particular was a missed punt because we can’t hit down the middle of the field and a couple of those things were on kickoffs and a couple of those things or whatever the case may be from a return standpoint. We got to find a way to hold leverage and make those tackles and we can’t give them a great field position like that. The team’s too good on offense um to a lot of those guys have short field and we did. Coach, any explanations on the intentional grounding like three weeks and three intentional groundings? Yeah, I know this week he’s just trying to throw it away trying to get out of his hand. You know, we always got to fix those things at the end of that game. It was not worth it, you know, taking a timeout to save the 10 seconds. Let’s go to overtime, try to win it there. Um, you know, obviously his protection issues, you know, both for the last two weeks was an early snap. This one was a different one. Um, those things are all different all different all the time. So, we’ll figure those things out. Coach, on the final four of the attack you just That was close. It was a great play by a great player. Um the young man made a nice play on uh our young player. Um fourth and two, that ball was thrown up in a 50-50 spot. We make that play, we win the game. And uh we they made the play and they won the game. Um got to give those guys a lot of credit. Got to give those guys a lot of credit for drawing it up. Um great players make great plays and that’s what he did right there. Last week you said you had confidence in Zack Robinson to get the offense going. What have you seen over the last two games to continue that confidence? I do have confidence in him. you know, he was able to go out there and get enough points and we should we should have had enough to to be able to win that football game and we did not. You know, we had a couple different phases that we want to get better. Obviously, on offense, you want to get third down better. Um, but we did have a chance to move the football, get a bunch of first downs, uh, really do a nice job in the red zone. I think we were three for three. I can’t remember what exactly what it was. Um, we got to do a better job in some of those situations on third down. If we can do that, uh, we’ll be a pretty good offense and be able to clean a lot of things up. Thanks, everyone. Thank you, guys.

The really sad thing is I don't think Arthur Blank really cares 8 years in a row of no playoffs
Most don't seem to understand that football is a zero sum game. You have one winner and one loser unless of a tie. A 7/2 team is supposed to defeat a 3/5 team. The other team is trying to win too. I am a stone cold Falcon Fan. We need some continuity. We can't fire someone every time things go south. Who are you going to hire? Patience, patience.
Special team was horrible
Every week its the same rhetorical answers!!! "WE GOTTA FIND WAYS TO GET BETTER, WE GOTTA WATCH FILM🤦🏾♂️
Fire buddy
HBCU bound 😂
WE COULD'VE HAD JIM HARBOUGH!? WHY IS MORRIS NOT EMBARRASSED? HUMILIATED?
Arthur black you made a terrible decision
Please fire him immediately
Ask me after we look 👀 at the tape.
The idiot didn’t even use a timeout in the first half. Threw all 3 of them in the trash can.
I tired of Raheem Morris face at this point
Please allow me to ask the questions. Raheem, why don't you step aside and take the dummy Zac Robinson with you. You sound like a recording, we gotta find a way to get better.
This team is so good at losing that it's actually impressive
Fire him, please. Seven sacks and still lose, only the birds. SMH.
We gotta find a way to win 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬💩😡😡😡 give me a break just win vince lambardy never said that trash
Penix has a very strong arm, but his footwork is the worst in the league, which is causing his passes to fall short and excels. He has always relied on the strength of his arm and never focused on his footwork. If this vital portion of his game is not addressed immediately, his timeline will diminish quickly.
All coaches involved in his development have failed him. Very unfortunate.
He better be fired
Penix did not play good accuracy is trash Zac play calling is elementary at best
I am amazed to see professional players and coaches who lacks the fundamentals. Everyone need advisors, if Raheem Morris had an advisor, he would know to never accept the first ball in overtime, that is basic 101.
If Penix had an advisor, he would know to work on his footwork, in order to extend plays, his inability in his footwork is causing his passes to fall short and sometime excel. Due to his strong arm, which he has always relied on, is causing him major problems now. It's not solely Penix fault, I fault all of the coaches who has had a part of his development. Penix is too stationary in the pocket, his inability to move around in the pocket is the worst in the league. I'm not sure what camp Penix attended, but again, someone has failed him.
The defensive line, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that when you are rushing the QB, you have to always anticipate the QB run, which means get off your block.
When the Colts QB ran for 19 yards on 3rd and 21, the disappointing portion of this dreadful act was, I was not shocked. This is the lack of knowledge, lack of effort and lack of basic understanding that the Falcons have displayed for years.
Some fans point to the coaching staff, which is valid. I point to these grown men, who are supposed to be professional NFL players, regardless of if you do have the worst defensive coordinator, some things are self-explanatory.
Go back and watch the film and tell me what Bates was doing when the Colts QB ran for 19 yards. I am very disappointed in Bates; he makes one play every 5 games. Watch the film.
These players and coaches have been affiliated with football since peewee league and still lacks the basics.
Is this ai, I am hearing the exact same thing after every disappointment.
We need to bring in a coach that accepts nothing less than winning on the normal
