This changes things for the Eagles vs the Lions and the excuses are only just beginning…

Philadelphia’s second last practice before facing Detroit had everything a Burst fan could have hoped for. Promising injury updates that will help in a big way come Sunday. Although AJ Brown sets the record straight on his most recent offensive criticism and big fan banjo raves about his newest addition. Plus, one of the Lion’s biggest stars misses practice yet again. Negle decision at cornerback was finally just made. Thomas M. This is Thomas Mach show. It’s been a drama-filled 72 hours in the city of brotherly love. And yet today, it was nice to just get back on the practice field, give us some great news, and get ready for the Lions. As despite their wild week, which included obviously dramatic win versus the Packers on Monday night, shoot J. Alexander, hang it up, and most recently AJ Brown’s latest criticisms of the offense. Eagle fans can at least rest assured that today the news out of practice was nothing but good news. While the same can’t be said for their Sunday night opponent. First though, we’re less than 1500 subscribers away from giving the Philly Dog signed helmet at 110,000 subs. So, if you want to win this bad boy, drop a like and be subscribed down below. Also, the signed Zack Bbon giveaway, the winners announced at the end of today’s video. So, watch till the end to see if you won. Now, despite the somewhat short week, Philadelphia was back at practice the past two days prepare for the allimportant Sunday night battle for possible supremacy in the NFC. It looks like they should have a key starter back as Cam Jurgens was limited in back-to-back practices, aka he was back following the knee issue that kept him out the past two games. Jurgens hasn’t really seen himself basically the entire year. And my hope now is that the past two weeks off plus the buy is just what the doctor ordered to get him back to that Pro Bowl caliber guard that helped lead the way to Saquon Barkley’s record setting 2024 campaign. And Jurgens being back wasn’t the only good news. As you remember, a couple of days ago, it looked like Lane Johnson suffered a serious injury versus the Green Bay Packers. Well, he not only played the final couple of drives in that game, but he’s practiced limited, but still practiced the past two days. He seems fine. 65 will go on Sunday versus Hudson and the Detroit Lions. Now, speaking of the Lions, and the same health in Philadelphia cannot necessarily be echoed in Detroit. The Lions were without key starters of their own at Thursday’s practice, including Sam Laora, cornerback Tyrion Arnold, Kirby Joseph, and Pat O’Connell. Though, the big name on that list has to be tight end Sam Laora. We don’t exactly know when he suffered this back injury as he did play in that win versus the Commanders this past week. The fact that Detroit just signed another tight end to their roster a couple of days ago might be an indication that one of their top receiving threats at least a stretch so far to play on Sunday night. There is some good news for Detroit, however, on the injury front as their best quarterback DJ Reed returned from IR this week along with ed rusher Marcus Davenport. Reed has missed the past couple of weeks due to a hamstring injury and technically is not guaranteed to play this Sunday, but he has practiced again Wednesday and Thursday and reports out of Detroit at least are hinting at he could make his return this coming week versus the Eagles. Now flying back to the birds and we got our latest Vic Fanjo press conference today, Thursday. They usually happen on Tuesday, but it’s our first time to actually hear the DC’s thoughts on the new trade acquisition and really play on Monday night of Jaylen Phillips. And safe to say he 100% approves. You guys saw it. Um he plays hard. He’s um he’s strong at the point. Good pass rusher. You know, does it help when you shop at Nordstrom, you get good stuff. When you get disruptive players, other players get in the fall in the plays, you know, like on the sack that Jay’s got. I mean, Jaylen really made the play, applied the pressure and flushed the quarterback, and Jay’s finished it, you know. So, the more players you have that can do that, the better off. Phillips’s near flawless Eagles debut was nothing short of impressive. Bick’s right. However, backing that up against Detroit is going to be a lot easier said than done. Spanul and company are fresh off a 206-yard rushing zero sack performance for the Washington Commanders. Here’s to hoping Jay Phillips continues his vault into, I don’t know, legendary Eagle straight deadline move as we approach Sunday. Also, want to give a massive shout out to the sponsor today’s video, Bear, because if you’re looking to upgrade your sleep, well, you’re going to love Bear. I mean, literally right now, I’m learning firsthand just how important sleep has been since I brought home our brand new, very first baby at the beginning of November. Thankfully, though, my wife and I have had our Bear mattress for over four months now, including when we brought the baby home. And whenever we do get time to sleep, it’s been an absolute dream. Bear mattress is a premium fiberglass-free mattress designed to improve your sleep quality and overall life. Plus, their shipping was super easy, literally right to my door, and of course, completely free. And the best part is Bear makes it super easy to find the perfect mattress for you via their sleep quiz. I of course took this quiz and based on my results, Bear matched me with their elite hybrid mattress model, which is perfect for my sleep style. What I personally love most about my Bear mattress is the quality of sleep that we’ve been getting. Of course, when we’ve been allowed to actually get some sleep with a newborn baby. Most of you guys know that’s difficult, but I also like the fact that it keeps me cool during the night with Bear’s sleep recovery technology. And of course, don’t just take my word for it. Bear recently surveyed over 300 customers, and 82% reported a noticeable improvement in their sleep quality after switching to Bear. In fact, 95% of them said they would recommend Bear to a friend. And Bear delivers your mattress right to your door with free shipping in the United States. You don’t have to worry about literally anything. Plus, they offer a 129 sleep trial, so you can test it out risk-f free. Plus, they have a limited lifetime warranty. And they even offer financing options and flexible payment plans. So, head to bearattress.com/thomas. It’ll be linked down below me right now. Use my promo code thomas to get 40% off your bare mattress. 40%. Give it a try. Trust me, you’re going to love it. We’ve loved it. You will, too. Big Banjo also confirmed that Brandon Graham and Nolan Smith were on pitch counts on Monday night’s game. Not a shocker there, but we all kind of saw where’s BG. No one played a little bit. It does sound like they’re going to get a little bit more wiggle room this week. Vic wouldn’t officially say if they’re off of pitch count, if they’re going to be on a lesser pitch count, we don’t know. But obviously, they’re going to play and this entire defensive line, as I said earlier, must lock in. This might be the best offensive line they face since losing to the Denver Broncos. One thing we do know for sure though is that it doesn’t seem like there’s going to be any cornerback changes this week. As despite Jakoran Bennett officially finally being activated from the 21-day practice window a couple of days ago, it’s a Dory Jackson who has held on to that starting spot every single game is been healthy this year. And even with the retirement of Jer Alexander a couple of days ago, McFanjo said today that he’s been impressed with Jackson’s play and obviously his survivability at that quarterback spot despite the drama at the position all year long. Are you surprised that he’s still the guy there and and what does that say about him that that he is still the guy there at this point? No, I’m not really surprised. Um he’s a survivor. You know, I think this is his ninth or tenth year. So, if you’ve survived that long, you got a little something in you and hopefully he can take that game, build on it, and keep playing good. And this ties in perfectly with the latest NBC Sports Philadelphia interview with Adori that happened yesterday on Wednesday where he was asked about all the new additions like JB and Michael Carter and for a moment Jaire. And he basically said he’s not worried at all. Quote, “I ain’t never been scared of competition. I’ve never shied away from it. So I could care less what happens upstairs. I know who I am when I stand on my two feet, when I look in the mirror. And that’s how I go about it. I wouldn’t be here in the NFL 9 years later if I didn’t believe that. And although technically we don’t know how long Adori Jackson’s leash will be going forward if he were to struggle, we do know is he will start on Sunday opposite of Quinan Mitchell. The task is very tall. We’ll talk about that on Saturday’s show on Ross St. Brown. But the fact of the matter is since that week one debut really where he got absolutely worked by the Dallas Cowboys and CD Lamb. He has not given up over 40 receiving yards in a single game he’s played in, including last week versus the Packers. And you know, we wanted all these other players to start. Dorian Bennett, J. Alexander, and maybe Ador Jackson was the best option basically the entire time. Seems like he’s going to be the number one option heading into Sunday. Now, of course, you will notice I didn’t actually start today’s show with the AJ Brown drama because to be honest with you, I don’t find it really that interesting or actually groundbreaking because we’re in this pattern of AJ gets no targets, the offense then struggles, AJ then voices frustration online, and then AJ clarifies his comments in a well-worded press conference later in the week. Sure enough, this week has been absolutely no different. Brown only had two targets. First, the Packers. Birds offense, as we saw on Monday night, struggled the entire game. AJ joked about his frustrations online. And then yesterday, Wednesday, he gave what I thought was his best press conference explaining the entire situation of the entire year. I think that’s fair. I think if you got eyes, you can see that, you know, the same things I’ve been saying um like all season, you know. So, me making light of my situation on Twitch with with my friend, you know, uh, that’s something I’m not apologizing for, you know, cuz like I said, if you got eyes, you can see that. And so, uh, that’s me trying to like laugh through my situation. So, like, yeah, and that’s been part for the course the entire season for AJ Brown with his frustrations. He understands he’s probably one of the best, if not the best receivers in the NFL. the Eagles offense is struggling and he wants to get the football in order to help his offense no longer struggle and again you can’t blame him. I see that offense struggling and you know I want to help contribute you know and I didn’t get those opportunities and so like I’m going to have a problem with that especially the player I am and especially the player like you want me to be as a as a as a player you know and uh I’m I’m that’s tough for me. I feel like we we do need to do a better job of creating for me, trying to help put me in situation to help to, you know what I’m saying, to contribute. Um, but right now, I just it just feels as if, you know, I’m uh just string it up for everybody. But I do think myself and most of you guys, you know, watchers, the Eagle fans, we’re not taking AJ Brown as a diva. We’re not calling him selfish or a distraction. He simply is voicing what all of us have seen and all of us has voiced on our personal Twitter accounts. This offense is way too talented to be dramatically leading the NFL. Look at this chart. Dramatically leading the NFL in three and outs. Do I wish he wouldn’t give the media ammo every week? Of course, I’ve said that. You agree? But he’s not wrong in stating the offense must figure things out eventually. We’re at a time here or they’re going to get burned later down the line. We can’t just keep slapping the band-aid over defense doing their job and getting us out of trouble. is at what point are we going to pick up our slack as an offense that that we’re say we’re so great you know and that’s what I’m getting at it’s not about we’re not winning or I don’t care about winning all I care about is snap a step no it’s been week after week sometimes we’re not contributing we’re not doing our job on offense so you can’t just keep slapping a band-aid over that and you expect a win late later late in the year you think you’re going to go to it at the end of the year it’s not going to happen I’m sorry it’s not gonna happen it’s not gonna happen you know and last year what it was thank you for the ring But it’s a new season. They adapted. We have to adapt and we have to continue to like get better and try to find new ways. So that’s that’s where the frustration comes in cuz it’s not about winning you guys. Like I want to win. Yes. I want to help contribute as well. Do our thing on offense as well. That’s I think that’s fair. And let just be known AJ Brown continues to have chances to throw Ken Patulo or Jaylen Herz under the bus. He was asked about both of them in the press conference on yesterday. He refuses to do so. Credit there. He just continually wants to emphasize that this offense is broken and it must get fixed ASAP. And I’ve hammered this point with statistics every single time this conversation comes up. But let’s do it one more time. How about this? AJ Brown has only been asked to run 14 crossing routes on the season, which for reference, there are 137 pass catchers in the NFL ahead of him who have run more crossing routes. And that is again perhaps the greatest crossing route over the middle wide receiver in the game today. Then not to be outdone, he’s also ran just 26 in routes, ranks 45th among pass catchers. Buukanuku and Devonte Adams, both on the same team, have 59 of the same said routes a piece. And of course, all this has resulted in career lows in nearly every single major receiving statistical category of AJ Brown’s career. The truth of the matter is we should all keep harping for AJ Brown to get more touches until things finally change. because for the two games that he actually was highly featured, that was what the best passing day Philadelphia has had all season versus the Vikings. And then Philadelphia’s best second half of the entire year versus the Vaunted Rams. And so, yes, I’ll keep doing my job as someone who gives you what’s going on with the Eagles reports the Eagle news. Cover these stories as they happen. Even though we’re all tired of the AJ Brown, the offense, this and that. But let’s just be clear here. Even though we don’t want AJ Brown to go on some stream and, you know, make some comments that gives WIP some ammo, we don’t want him to tweet about the Eagle offense. keep it all internally. It’s his right to do whatever he wants. I respect that. I don’t think he’s wrong. And in the end, it does draw attention to the fact that Philadelphia’s offense must get better, which I think everybody agrees about. Even Jaylen Herz, who doesn’t want to talk about this at all publicly, when asked during his press conference yesterday, basically said the same thing. He knows the offense must improve and they’re working to do that as a collective. My my focus always gears back to what the group is doing and what the collective is. um obviously plays he plays AJ plays a pivotal role in what we’ve been and what we’ve done and so we just have to continue to grow with that every day. I know he’s talked about having a growth mindset and embracing that and so we just need that that mentality as we go throughout this season and try and get to where we’re trying to go. Also, the winner of the signed Zack Bon picture was nestgoro Jr. 6674. Sorry if I butchered that, but Ernest, you know the deal. Put in my description box, send me an email, prove it to you. I’ll get this bad boy sent out to you as soon as possible. Everybody else, watch out for scammers. Earnest one. You did not. Now, of course, plenty more stuff happening the next couple of days and weeks, including a brand new giveaway starting on Saturday. Not going to tell you what it is yet, but pretty darn cool. Be sure to watch that show. We’ll also have the full preview for the Lions game, which truly is game of the year right now. We said that with, you know, the Rams and uh the Bucks. We said that obviously with the Kansas City Chiefs. We said last week with the Packers. I’m sure I said this is the game of the year. This truly though is the true test for Philadelphia because you have a great defense, a healthier defense we talked about earlier in the show and also an elite offense. Eagle defense versus the line offense is going to be musty TV. Cannot wait to preview that game. That’ll come out probably what either Friday afternoon, most likely Saturday, but either way, I’m Thomas Mott hanging out here on a Thursday. This has been the Thomas show.

  1. AJ is a Phenomenal player, and I personally understand why he does what he does. It's evident and KP DESPERATELY NEEDS a second opinion from a consultant. I put this on Howie and Mr Laurie for allowing Nick to hire in house. That track record has been proven. 2 up, 2 down. We know we're better than that and hopefully KP gets the help to hopefully truly have a chance to compete and run it back. Go BIRDS 🦅!

  2. Only people who don’t know ball defending AJ behavior.
#1 no leader conducts themselves this way
#2 he is being a distraction. This is TO all over again he is being negative as we are winning. Also he’s shitting on his team mates when in reality most games he is double teamed on zoned with multiple players on him he isn’t getting open. Offensive line isn’t giving Jalen time to make plays anyone who knows ball knows this!!

  3. I actually applaud AJ for that rant and interview today. This heavy coach and owner need to make a change with play calling. It's INSAME to run the ball up a brick wall 900,384,494 times a game.

  4. Remember Matt Pissatplaycalling and Sean Dontknowwhatplaystocall 2023 season smfh KP needs to go fr i don’t wanna go down that road again🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

  5. I’m just tired watching ‘Sports morning shows’ that always wanna try to point out what’s wrong with Philly or how they can’t win… when that’s all we do. Props to Jeff Saturday who defends the Eagles Constantly, always pointing out how Buffalo and other teams get free passes for losses, while the Eagles don’t… I don’t care if it’s not pretty… a win is a win.

    ps… SICK Black Eagles helmet!🙌🏻👍🏻

  6. AJ is saying what everyone is thinking. KP needs to get it the f together. There's NO REASON that the offense should look this abysmal with the incredible talent they have on this team.

  7. Getting the ball to AJ means taking risks and Sirianni has been risk averse with Hurts since 2023. He won't let Hurts out of his "straitjacket" (Hurts' own words last season) unless the team is desperately needing a spark.

So yea, this team is like an anime character that fights others with both hands tied behind their backs and somehow still wins but the moment he starts losing he'll give 100% effort.

  8. AJ is 100% right. KP needs to scheme him in at 8-12 times a game. When him and Jalen have to go rouge and call their own plays, it's a freaking problem. Sirianni is calling plays. I guarantee it.

  9. I think we all are upset at the way the offense is playing. How many times do we have to try to run up the A gap with no luck before we try another run? Why didn't we use the same plays from last year? We don't need the old coordinator to run the same offense or close to it anyway. Instead Patula's play sheet looks like it has 8 plays on it.
