Ian Begley shares update on Jalen Brunson’s ankle after Magic loss
The Knicks were handed their first loss at home of the season by the Orlando Magic. I’m here with SNY NBA insider Ian Begley. And Ian, despite this being a very tough loss for the team on the court when Jaylen Brunson was coming out of the game for the last time in the fourth quarter, we did see him limping off and now seems like it’s something much more serious going on with Jaylen Brunson. What have you seen and what have you heard after the game as far as his status? Yeah, Brunson was seen outside the locker room uh using crutches and in some kind of protective boot um on his right ankle. Mike Brown said that he just rolled the ankle. He didn’t know more than that. But when you see Brunson on crutches and with the protective boot, I mean, it leads you to believe that this is a significant injury. And I know that the Knicks know that this is a real injury here. How long’s he going to be out? We don’t know. But usually with ankles, it’s weeks, not days. Let’s see how Brunson feels when he wakes up tomorrow. For sure. And this is also for a team who is still trying to figure things out offensively. Jaylen Brunson had 31 points in this game. We play 37 minutes. Looking ahead now, they do have the Heat up next to close out this home stand, but what will things look like as far as the Knicks offense is concerned, especially the offense because this has been something new for them this year. What will things look like without Jaylen Brunson for a extended amount of time potentially? Sure. So, I I would assume that Miles McBride slides in there into the starting lineup. But in a bigger picture sense, you know, the Knicks were using this time to get used to one another, get used to this new offense with Mike Brown, and they looked pretty good coming into this game. They did not look good in this game, but this robs them of time to play together, to develop chemistry together. And also, you never want to be losing your best player for several games. And so, let’s see how long it is. But anytime without Brunson is tough for the Knicks, for sure. We’ll continue to monitor Jaylen Brunson’s status and we’ll keep you up to date with the latest on his injury. As for what we do know, the Knicks host the Miami Heat to close close out this home stand.
SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley tells Chelsea Sherrod that Jalen Brunson left the Garden on Wednesday night in a walking boot with crutches after leaving the Knicks matchup with the Magic in the fourth quarter.
