Blocked fieldgoal on 4th down goes for a 1st down? What a crappy rule.

What’s there to wrap your head around? Read the rules. It’s black and white.
How the fuck are fans still whinging after a win
Edit: never mind, I checked your post history and you’re a Trump supporter so obviously you’re missing several million brain cells.
It makes sense if you use the same possession rule for field goals as punts, which they do.
Kicking the ball beyond the line of scrimmage is you giving up possession of the ball voluntarily, making the ball neutral. If the receiving team touches the ball, its now live and you have to maintain possession. If you dont, the ball is up for grabs.
So when we touched the ball but didnt keep possession, its the same as a muffed punt
It’s a weird rule…but…eh ball didn’t lie so whatever.
I get that it’s the actual rule, and called correctly, but it’s a dumb rule. Block a FG, bounces off of the back of our guys helmet to go into a mass of bodies and becomes a free ball, and the kicking team gets a 1st down.
The rule sucks but it’s the rule. No one got cheated.
And they fumbled it right back to us anyways.
Kellen Moore talked about it in the press conference. I’ll paraphrase “we knew the rule. We coach the rule. They got excited”
They may have recovered the ball, but you would think that they’d have to take it past the line of gain for a first down or turn the ball over anyway.
So I guess it’s the same as a punt or kickoff? As long as it touches the opposing team it becomes anybody’s ball? Just asking. I missed the game so didn’t see the explanation.
The rule cant be correct. You cant fumble the ball forward. How can a Carolina player force the ball past the LOS.
Easy way to think about it is it’s basically a muffed punt.
Pretty sure once it hit the panther after the block that should’ve made it a dead ball, scum bags ref as usual that even the commentators called it out

Basically the [Leon Lett Thanksgiving play](https://youtu.be/EoebUFaZViY?si=ecLlQ3srOPJ1kTbF), but it happened right at the LOS.
