Breaking news of the day. Certainly not news that we didn’t plan. Whether you’re near, far, anywhere in between, guess what? We got you covered on Cincinnati Bengals Talk. And uh obviously uh I am not at the facility, but Joe Burrow is and Joe Burrow has been. And Joe Burrow continues uh to train, rehab, do everything that he needs to do to be ready. So much so that he could return as soon as this month. The Bengals opened the practice window for Joe Burrow on Monday afternoon. He will practice today, maybe by the time you see this video. We certainly plan on having the Joe Burrow press conference for you here on Cincinnati Bengals Talk because he’s talking on Monday afternoon. What does this mean? Well, first let’s start with the 21-day window. The Bengals can activate Joe Burrow at any point in the next 21 days to the 53man roster. Right now, he can practice with the team without counting towards the roster. Zack Taylor talked a little bit ago, there’s no plans for Joe Bro to play this week against Pittsburgh. That’s not shocking. The Bengals next three games, it’s Pittsburgh this week. Joe won’t play. New England the following week. And then Thanksgiving at the end of November, November 27th, you have a Thanksgiving game against none other than the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore. And that’s the one that’s interesting to me because I look at Ravens, Bengals, what it could mean, everything about it. And uh I think that’s the game Joe Burrow is targeting. I do. And from the jump, like things start to line up now. and and Zack Taylor talked and said, “Yeah, this was kind of the timeline, the plan we had in place.” I know this for a fact. The moment that injury happened and the dust kind of settled, so Joe gets hurt on a Sunday, Tuesday to Wednesday, he was already locked into, “All right, I’m going to come back this season. I’m going to come back when the season’s still up for grabs in much sooner than people are saying.” And everyone said mid December, late December. Uh, I was certainly guilty of that, but Joe always targeted much earlier. His target date in his mind was much earlier, and so far he’s hit that. Now, there’s a lot that needs to happen when it comes to his return. He’s going to throw to receivers on air on Monday and then kind of go from there. But this is a good first week to throw, to see how the toe reacts. And this is also telling you that the Bengals season, well, it’s hanging in the balance of the next 3 weeks. That’s what this is telling you. And and that’s the the other element to it. An important element of this is when you look at it, the Bengals are three and six. They’ve lost two games by a score of 86 to 80 their last two games. If they can somehow win two out of three or the next two, let’s say, uh, in in and you look up and they’re five and six, well then maybe Joe Bro does return for that Thanksgiving Day game. Maybe he is back in the mix. But maybe he can’t do that or he’s they lose the next couple of games and they’re three and eight. Then it’s over. Then they’re three and nine, then it’s over because he’s eligible to be activated. he could be activated Monday, December 1st to the 53man roster. So, this gives the Bengals tunnel vision. You have three games maximum to get back in this thing and to give Joe Burrow a shot. Maybe it’s only two, but certainly the next three. You win all three, I certainly expect to see Joe Burrow on the field at the start of December. You lose two or three, I probably wouldn’t bring him back. I think there’s a lot of you that wouldn’t bring him back anyway. some thoughts on that as well uh as we roll on here. Huge, huge news, plenty of thoughts on it. We’ll get to those coming up next. Today’s show is brought to you by WinWin Athletics. Jeff Baldwin and his crew, not only are they huge Bengals fans, but they have the best flag football gear on the planet. He’s going to make it easy. He’s going to make the process easy. He’s going to help you with whatever you need. Give you the right advice. And of course, it’s coming from a Bengals fan as well. Christian is as dieh hard as they come. Check them out today. Simply Klein.com/cusky. All right. The the other element here is should they bring him back? A lot of you I’ve already seen it because I wrote the article bengles.com. Should they bring him back? And the answer for a lot of you is why would you do that? He’s not going to help the defense. Why would you do that? He’s not I get that. I do. I also think that Joe has been working his ass off behind the scenes. I think one activating his window does give your locker room a jolt. Does bring some hope. And man oh man, how different would it feel? And I can’t I can’t help but think how different would this feel if they were five and four right now? If they had beat the Jets and the Bears and they had won three straight and they’re coming out of the buy and now Joe B’s practice window gets activated. I mean, everyone would be like, “This story has come together, and it hasn’t fully come together because the defense can’t tackle anybody.” But overall when I look at this, it it’s it it makes so much sense. Joe Burrow hadn’t thought really once about stopping this year, about not playing again, about this being a season ending injury. once he once he got all the news and all the information it was kind of like full steam ahead all systems go and uh and that’s why he’s here now the team needs to do its part and that’s the other element here Joe’s been working his butt off behind the scenes the team offense defense special teams coaching staff they need to do their part now and hold it down and and make tackles and be in the right spot and get stops and get off the field and still score points and protect Joe Flacco and do everything that they can to give Joe Burrow a real shot at coming back. Because if you win the next two, I think there’s a decent chance Joe Burrow is starting on Thanksgiving against Baltimore. I think if you win the next three, there’s no doubt in my mind he’s activated for December for a December stretch run that, let’s be honest, it’s tough. I mean, you get out of that Ravens game November 27th, then you go to Buffalo December 7th, and then it’s the Ravens again, and then it’s the Dolphins, and and so you you’re going to have to win some of these games down the stretch I over the next few weeks to get to that stretch for that to matter. We’ll see if they do it. We’ll see if the Bengals can handle business. It’s uh this is wild. I It is unexpected. I am surprised that today is the day. Uh, I I thought that it could happen in November. I thought it could happen at some point in the near future. But what today tells me honestly is that in his mind, he’s thinking about that Thanksgiving game. And he’s looking at this AFC North that’s still very much up for grabs. He’s looking at a a Bengals team that if they can beat the Steelers on Sunday would be 3-0 in the division. He’s looking at a wideopen division. He sees that Lamar’s come back and the the Ravens are making their push and he’s like, “All right, well, I’m going to make my push.” And we’ll see. We’ll see if if the Bengals can hold up their end of the bargain. Joe Burrow is holding up hits. He’s worked his butt off. He’s put himself in position to come back this season. Can the Bengals do theirs? So far, they’ve failed at it. One and six without Joe Burrow. They have maxed three more games without him. If you want him to come back this year, you got to start winning some of these games. We’re going to have you covered here on Cincinnati Bengals Talk. Make sure you stay tuned. Please don’t mess up Joe Flacco
Idk why ppl have some optimism about this. We’ve seen for a season and a half that this defense has no hope. Historically BAD defense.
Not sure what difference you think it will make…let him rest…Joey F is doing fine
Grade 3 turf toe injury, I hope Joe Burrow isn't rushing things to get back. With all these injuries he might be on pace to be the next Andrew luck.
Joe Burrow does not need to rush back. Flacco is playing almost at the same level Joe borrow was playing at when he got injured. He needs to heal and worry about next year at this point go talk to the front office and demand defensive players.
They didn't look good the first 2 games before Burrow got hurt.. I find it funny how everyone forgets that. Find a team to trade for him and use his Salary to buy a defense and keep a competent qb like Flacco and then we are good.. 2 games equaled 189 yes and 2 TD.. was not playing good
Quarterback position isn’t the issue, if burrow isn’t playing defense then just have him as a backup quarterback and let Flacco shine the rest of the season
It doesn't matter if he comes back he does not play defense.
No disrespect to Joe but flacco has done excellent job for the Bengals it's there defense it's garbage they need to replace the defensive coordinator. There running is excellent.
Get Joe out of Cincinnati and away from the Brown family and the OTHER Stefanski down the sideline.
Can he play saftey or LB?
Yeawh, so what? We still don't have a run game, and Burrow is still making a million dollars a week. BTW, we're still gonna lose the next couple of games. The season is over, and we're gonna be paying non-playing players millions of dollars for nothing. Thanks Zack!
Whoever is gonna be the quarterback against Baltimore, they're gonna get sacked so many times by the Ravens' defense with Mike Green because we had a poor draft with lame reasoning and lame coaches drafting players from loosing programs…🙄
He can’t play defense
This is "huge" only in the sense that it re-enforces how incompetent the Bengals front office has become – there's absolutely nothing to be gained from this move in putting him back on the field in harms way – other than the cynical move to put more butts in the stands. Competitiveness aside, there's no rational reason at this point in a dismal season to get him back into action when Flacco has performed as well statistically as Burrow. The way this franchise is run by the Brown family is all the more reason not to be optimistic about Burrow remaining healthy in the long term behind this OL and the defense being as atrocious as it is.
I want the best for the greatest player in NFL history…and Cincinnati's OWNERSHIP is not capable of living up to his potential. What an awful, horrific waste.
Burrow wasnt scoring as much as Flacco
The season is over if they can’t tackle Caleb Williams and Justin Fields how they gonna tackle Lamar Jackson and a quarterback from Buffalo Josh Allen maybe it can get better. I don’t wanna be all doom and gloom, but I don’t have any faith that this defense will be able to make improvements in such a short amount of time.
Joe needs to speak up and separate himself from his soft coach Zac Shula.
Is he going to play defense?
Really need Trey Back seems like they only pressure they get up front.
I caught myself getting excited that the Steelers lost the other night, but then I quickly realized it doesn't matter anyway
The joke is on you guys. He is playing defense.
can he coach and play defense. cause that's what the bengals are sorely lacking.
Let Burrow call the plays, he clearly has a better understanding of the game than Zac who folds like origami ever y 4th quarter.
Why would I be happy about this??
I don't see Burrow coming off an injury and playing better than Flacco. No chance, actually. And I love Burrow. Flacco is having a career year… in a really, really good career. Defense only gives up 30 a game and we likely win out. Very unlikely. but we'll see
Perfect bring our franchise quarterback early so he gets hurt again and then he wants to get traded to another team when he realizes he’s wasting his career with us
Sit the rest of the season out Burrow this defense has been a trainwreck. You're not ready
No it ain’t you can have a great offense all day long. You need a defense that can stop the offense 😂😂
Indeed “Huge” a huge mistake, it appears NYG made a move!
Joe must be scared Flacos going to steal his thunder
As a lifelong fan.. Burrow returning to practice does nothing for me. Literally two tackles away from being 5-4 and first in the division.. they followed up a historically bad game by setting new historic lows.. this defense has no self respect.. I haven’t been this depressed in a season in a long time
I wouldn’t risk him being injured again with the Bengals having a “slim to none” chance of this team even making the playoffs. Let Burrow FULLY heal, and make moves in the offseason that will give Cincinnati the best chance to win next season. Let Flacco earn his money as the backup.
