Interesting side note when it comes to PIs, Surtain actually had 1 more PI called on him last year than JPJ did.
Regardless, really nice to see his development.

He just needs to get the penalties more under control and work on his hands.
Has he ever made a form tackle?
I’d be interested to see how his penalties line up with the other top cbs
lol and here are the haters because he has flaws…I swear this fandom is something else
Dude is soft and slow. Idk why he is so liked
Let’s not forget he also missed some games. I absolutely love him but man sometimes his penalties come at theee worst times.
I think he has had a poor season.
Where does he rank in penalties?
Okay but how many interceptions? Our secondarys SUCK ASS. Soft ass player, and sucks when it comes to coverage.
The penalties are infuriating but hes been pretty good otherwise. If they could get the other side straightened out they’d have a chance to make the playoffs and win a game or two (depending on the QB play).
The stats here are blowing my mind a bit because they don’t really add up to what I thought I had been seeing during the games. I’m not involved in the nfl as a job for a reason… but I swear I’ve seen him getting burnt, I’ve seen him holding/pass interfering constantly, there have been several catchable balls that bounce off of his hands… I really thought he was having a bad year where he showed signs of plateauing.
Where does he stand in penalties?
I think the discourse on JPJ has been polarized because of his name. Some people want to love him because of his father. Some people want to call him a nepo baby.
IMO he has been adequate, but not outstanding based on his drafted position. I think extending him is a no-brainer considering this organization is almost always lacking reliable youthful starting CBs.
This sub sucks. Everything’s so negative…
JPJ is a slightly above average corner, and is not even close to being a problem for the defense.
Did this sub forget about the days of Ross cockerel, Antwan Blake, Artie burns etc?
JPJ is doing just fine for the team
Look at it this way….every single one of you would be happy at the time if told the Steelers exchanged the useless Chase Claypool for a startable corner…
Where does he rank in DPI penalties?
Hrs just like this team. Inconsistent. Some times he’s lights out, some times he’s buns.
Overall I think he’s above average, but not top 10.
Do the same people tracking this sort of stuff track penalty yards given up? Not allowing a completion doesn’t matter if there’s a dpi on the play..
Not that I don’t think he has played well for the most part but that’s an important part to leave out
Get Asante in at NB so Slay doesn’t play and the secondary might be cooking
How do penalties factor into stats like these? Like if a corner draws PI to prevent a completion, would that boost these stats or do the penalty yards get added to their yards allowed
Honestly I am shocked by this
Fans hate cb’s. Rod Woodson was a hall of fame cb…and used to get beat on a double move deep ALL THE TIME….and fans used to get on him constantly. So much so that they went after his wife and made it a racial thing.
It’s a scoring league designed around putting points on the board and favoring the wr’s and passing game. What do you expect a cb to do in this day? He’s not the best, but he’s progressing to be one of the better ones.

JPJ’s career so far…
r/steelers said he sucks tho lmao
Sure, just gotta learn how to catch 👍🏻
Hilarious. Saw earlier there was an article up on Steelers Depot about him (something about Jamar Chase calling him handsy). Scrolled to the bottom. Literally comment after comment calling him trash and how his penalties are killing the team etc. etc. I know the type to post are not representative of the entire fanbase, but…yeeesh! If they were then this fanbase is 90% filled with miserable jagoffs
What’s his rank this year in PI? because each PI equals a big play given up. I bet he’s near the top, so that skews all the other rankings, if you think about it. No way he is top 10 CB in the league.
What do the penalty numbers look like? I feel like when he’s defending the pass and pressing the does well.
Hard to buy him as top 10. But I’m still glad they drafted him because it’s a passing league now. Not saying the trenches aren’t more important, just that they should focus more on getting quality DBs. Most of the competitors in the league have 1-2 great DBs in their backfield.
You miss the stats where he has the most DPI for no reason.
When I watch him, I see how hes talented, but man… Those littles hands trying to tickle the WR are killing me. Most of the time he dont even hold them, hes fucking messing around on them. If he stops doing that, yes he can be a top 10.

This post just cost us 2 DPIs
