Will The Dallas Mavericks Trade Anthony Davis?
John Wall uh had some interesting things to say on Run It Back with respect to Anthony Davis and where he thinks he might land. Quote, “You’ve been hearing he wants to go back to Chicago and see what’s going on. I think at this point Ady’s probably done with it. I don’t want to speak for him, but I think he’s pro but I think he probably wants to move forward in quotes.” Uh that is John Wall today on Run It Back uh earlier this morning. Reaction, gentlemen. Look, Andy Dav is from Chicago. Every athlete does not want to play where they’re actually from. Kevin Durant has historically said, “I do not want to play for the Washington Wizards.” Not saying not saying he did say that. I’m I’m be honest like he did say that he’s from the He’s from the area. He did not want to go home. Like he decided to go to the Golden State Warriors instead of playing with John as he knows and Bradley Bell. So every athlete does not want to go home. So, if we’re assuming Anthony Days wants to go home, sure. Could that be fun for him to go back to Chicago? Cool. The question is like what’s in the package? I’ve I’ve seen some some rumors like maybe Kobe White’s in there, Vogue. Like, it has to be s the salary has to match. They probably are going to have to get a third team. Anthony is one of the 10 biggest salaries in the NBA. It’s a very, very, very hard contract to trade. We’ll see if he wants to go there. Hopefully, Chicago pace picks because the maths sure need them, Bobby. They do. And that is like the the the conundrum uh coniple that Mark Stein laid out last night is basically like you know he he is very very you know adamant that AD needs to play for a long time without getting hurt to make a team want to trade for him you know and I I view it that same way like he if you trade him right now he’s hurt he’s injured he’s missed a million games in the last nine months you’re not going to get back value for him so you need to bring him back for him Well, sure. Yeah. I mean, but you need to bring him back and get him playing games and get him looking good so that a team wants to give up what you would accept for him. The problem with that is first off, it’s a gamble cuz Will he if he comes back, he could tear his Achilles, dude. Like, so we don’t know about that. But let’s even move past that. It unfortunately is only a matter of time before he or any highle basketball player gets hurt. Guys get hurt all the time. So, it’s always a roll of the dice every time you send them out there. And if you do play him, if you’re trying to rebuild, you run the risk of actually winning a bunch of games whenever he plays. And so it could screw up the tank. So it’s like it’s a really really it’s it’s quite a pickle that they’re in right now. I think he should just be low managed. Like he’s going to have to play gangs. They’re not going to be able to sit him out the whole time and trade him for good value. If they do sit him out, then you’re going to have to probably take what 80 cents on the dollar if that dude. He makes so much money. He makes so much money. So it’s just And not in like a bad way. Good for him. But really hard to match salaries with $54 million. That’s why Paul George, as we said earlier, it’s still in Philadelphia. Not that he like when you make 50 plus million dollars in this league with the new first apron. Second apron, the MS are also, by the way, like one I think it was 1.3 or 1.4 million below the second apron. So, they can’t like take more money on than they can send out, which also is a problem with a salary that big. It’s really hard to trade that contract. And again, if Anthony was made $35 million, even without playing a game, it’d be a lot of buyers here. But the problem is that he’s on like I think it’s his his third max of his career. So it it is going to be a really hard contract to trade. But the Chicago Bulls, who started this season 5 and0, I think are one and five in their next in I think in their last six games. So maybe they get a little desperate. Maybe AD comes back. He’s a top 15 player when he’s actually on the court. Maybe he like catfishes them like, “Oh, I’m really good.” which he is a good player, but can he sustain that? So maybe he comes back, shows that they get a little desperate, they want to sell some tickets, boom, 80 to Chicago. Well, I think that situation is also good because the Bulls have been so mid for so long. Like they’ve just been like between 10 and seven. It’s like the playin tournament is sponsored by the Chicago Bulls. Like they’re just in it every year. Yeah. And so even if even if if you’re the Bulls, right, it’s Vu and whatever. I don’t even want to say Kobe White, but let’s just say it’s Vu and Kobe White picks, right? And then a pick or something like you’re probably not going to win the championship. Breaking news, right? But if AD’s healthy, you’re probably good enough to be a top six seed. You’re probably good enough to win 45 games, 50 games. Maybe if you get real hot and then who knows, maybe you win a series or two and then you’re the best Bulls team that there’s been in more than 10 years. like there is some sort of value in that because the Bulls have been so bad for so long. Yeah, I think as we get deeper into this season, I mean, players who, you know, sign deals in, you know, the summer can start to be moved in December, obviously, you know, move toward the February trade deadline. To me, and we’ll get more into more detail as the months go on. You know, for me, the direction is very clear in terms of what you have to do. It’s much easier said than done given the situation they find themselves in because it’s tricky enough where if he plays and you start winning games now you’re messing up the quoteunquote organic tank. Uh if he does play and gets hurt now trade value plummets but you’ve got to find a way to get him on the floor, manage him, and then be able to have him good enough to play to where teams will be attracted to eventually, you know, move for him. And folks are not ready to get on this conversation yet, but I’m just going to rip the band-aid off because we need to get into that conversation, too. I mean, Kyrie Irving need to be on the table, too. So, I disagree. Only only if he wants. I’m not I’m not chopping that guy. I’m just not doing it. I don’t think it’s necessary about chopping if it’s about No, shopping. Sorry. Shopping is I think it’s about I am not hacking and slashing Kyrie Irving. All right. He’s He’s safe. I think it’s about doing right by Kyrie if he wants in this. What if What if he wants to be here? I think he does want to probably be everybody ass. I mean, financially, the contract isn’t insane, right? Like he he’s making 40 he’s making 40 plus million dollars coming back eventually from a torn ACL in his mid-30s. That’s tough for me to swallow given what it feels like the direction of this team would need to go in without the control of your picks for the next five years. As much salary as you can shed reasonably to get yourself in a You’re already running up against a second apron. Well, yeah, but that’s why that’s why to me you’re trading Gaffford. you’re if it’s really a complete tear down. You’re trading PJ. You’re trading Yeah. Caleb and doing what you got to do. Yeah. And I’m not saying that you do that right now, but it should not be not on the table. Like if you’re looking at all options to me and it and look, I know it’s tough because Kyrie has been fantastic here in a Mavericks uniform, but if you’re going to embrace it, you’ve got to embrace all of it. And nothing should be on the only person that should not be on the table is Cooper Flag in my humble opinion. But I get it. Kyrie is a fan favorite. He’s been fantastic here. He’s turned himself into a model citizen in terms of what he has meant to this team and this community. But at the same time, these are the tough decisions that these gentlemen are going to have to make over the coming days and weeks. And maybe you wait until the summer where he’s fully healthy and clear and then you potentially move him then to where he could stay, you know, for the Mavericks this year and be able to see him play u some. Well, it depends though because what if what if the Mavs stink this year and Kyrie takes it easy or it rehab takes long, whatever, he doesn’t play. They get the first pick or third pick or something in the draft, they get some stud and then for Kyrie, it’s okay. You’re going into next season, you’re able to make a couple trades, move the pieces around a little bit, and you’re able to field a team that could make a run at the playoffs next year with Ky. It’s kind of Kyrie’s second chance at the Boston situation with Tatum and Brown, you know, and let’s be honest, that one didn’t go very well. But Kyrie’s a different person now. And maybe he would say, “I embrace the challenge of being the veteran leader, the old head uh on a team with Coupe and Derek Lively and you know, uh, Debansa or whoever.” And, you know, you trade AD, you trade some other guys, you get some younger players in here, some picks, you’re able to make a move, and now all of a sudden it’s like, “Yeah, why can’t the Mavs be eighth again next season? I mean, you still don’t have a realistic chance to win a championship. You’re talking about being eighth. Sure. Yeah. I mean, they’re not going to win a title no matter what they do. I mean, but it’s it’s, you know, if it’s Kyrie for another year and then it’s an expiring deal and if he wants to leave, then you can I mean, I don’t I’m not I’m letting Kyrie choose his path here. He’s earned that. And again, I know it’s tough. Like, folks, like Kevin, shut up. Like, I get it. Like, it’s tough. I get it. Like, I’ve talked professionally for a living, so I can’t necessarily do that. But I I get it. It’s a tough conversation to have, but again, it’s not on the table. We we’ve seen over the last nine months, nothing is out of the realm of possibility in this league anymore. So, again, I’m not necessarily in the camp of doing and trading Kyrie Irving right now at all. Trust me, I’m not in that camp. I’m just saying that has to be a discussion uh realistically that the organization has. And that’s that is what it is. And I did talk to Bobby Marks, which you all should read the article by the way. And when when asked about Anthony Davis, he says I say like can they trade Anthony Davis? He said no, not until he gets on the court. And this is the cap specialist guru around the league. And he said every player is essentially on the table besides Flag. though.
After firing former general manager Nico Harrison, the Dallas Mavericks are rumored to eventually explore the possibility of trading superstar big man Anthony Davis, too, among other players. The DLLS Mavs crew lays out why that might be more difficult than some might expect.

I just watched Luka highlights. We are so cooked
What a dumb take. There's is no point in trading Kyrie unless he wants to. They can't trade everyone and really bottom out because they don't own their picks after this season. They just need to get a top 5 pick this year, trade Davis, Klay and maybe Gafford this season or summer and try to start winning again next season.
You guys are really over reacting with this trade stuff! Especially when it comes to Kyrie! I get Anthony Davis and Klay and some of the other role players, but there is a core that you keep! Lively is one of them! Would also keep PJ, Marshall and Christie. I really want to keep the Landlord as well but I’m ok with letting him go of need be to make a package sweeter! It’s obvious that we are keeping Flagg! We need a simi rebuild, not a full one!
Please don't forget we don't own our pick in 27, 28, 29. We don't want to be bad to help someone else picks!!!
Kyrie has only few years yo get a chance for another ring . Not fair to leave him on losing team. He even gave up on money for Mavs flexibility. Maybe just let him go . He as a co first or second star make a team into contender automatically.
Dude I would not give you Naz Reid for this bench rider.
Did we get a pick from the Lakers?
It's great to see Christie, BWill and Cisse' all contributing. Lively, get off the da*n trainer's table for all that is good and holy and stay off of it.
Who going to take ad?
Let this team get healthy 🙏
Kevin has some of the absolute worst takes on here, this dude is clueless. We literally have no point guard and this dude is like… "gEt RiD oF kYrIe"
We got rid of Nico, now we need to start with "Fire Kevin" chants. This dude is a 🤡
This discussion makes me ever more angry about the Luka trade.
Guys look at game logs last 3 seasons, we messed up on Luka! But Davis played 76 games 2 years ago. And he played 56 last season. It’s called wait and see we already have him and KY. What if they’re both healthy
keep PJ, Lively, and Coop. The others are available
Stupid idiots talking about Anthony Davis like he's not the 2/3rd greatest player that has EVER graced their franchise. I get it you guys prefer luka. But you do know trying to make these undeserving fans happy. Kylie has earned the right to make his decision but ANTHONY DAVIS hasn't. Some of us will NEVER allow you disrespect and I'm happy none of you effin fans own the team. Do AD wrong and you'll be a bump franchise FOREVER, you're already on the path. Only thing left is alienating stars fro, coming here. And you become a poverty franchise like the nets. Remember, you are not the only team in texas. Fans have already started getting into it with cooper's mom. That should scare any logical fan. Because we seem to forget these player are human and they have families. Treat them wrongly at your own peril. And you are "journalists" bloody disappointments
Let’s get Luka back for AD
You gotta admit all of this stuff is out of control…players make way too much money for not even showing up.
Nobody has patience. The anticipation of future potential gets people more hyped than the actual games.
IMO fans have been had. All games should be free to attend at this point. It's all entertainment.
I think you would only get bad value in trades Right now – Dallas cant seem desperate for a trade right now and there is no reason for rushing trades, i would just wait till december how the team does going forward being hopefully more healthy and maybe some players can show they have value, right now you just get low-value returns
If we're keeping Kyrie, my opinion is we should keep AD too. There is no point to hold Kyrie if we're not going to contend in his late prime window. If we trade AD we're not contending. If we hold AD, maybe we get a lucky run of health and everything comes together. I would rather keep both for now, rebuild their value and then see what the market holds but we gotta choose – either we are blowing it up for assets and picks or we're going to see how far this core can go for the first time.
Mavs should not trade Kyrie , unless he asks to move on. We keep our best playmaking guard if he healthy and wants to stay. Trade AD, Klay, and anybody else not named Flagg or Lively.
It amazes me how many fans and media have in collective amnesia. Remember when the Mavericks lost to the clippers for the second time, people wasn't praising the front office for we're trying to win slow. They were angry, screaming that this team sucks. Fans and media turned on the Steph Curry and Harrison Barnes trade even though they originally praised them. But now all the sudden we're going to be cool with Cooper Flagg and our draft pick playing with scraps and losing for multiple years. I agree with trading AD, but if you don't get a contributor that helps winning now and in the future, Maverick's world will turn on this trade even if they originally liked it and that goes for anybody else they trade.
Ad to Detroit would be awesome pistons would win ship🏆 Durant and Ad big man for pistons destroying everything
Trade ad now
Call him Street Clothes
As a Knicks fan how are you talking about blowing it up 12 games in 😂.. damn at least play 20 25 games..what if you had a 5 game win streak.. all the 1st you wanted to trade for are late firsts . From playoff teams.. people acting like they getting a top 3 pick
