Caleb Williams’ Completion % when targeting Luther Burden is the highest of any QB to an individual receiver in the entire NFL.

  1. Burden’s parents need to start posting on X about this… that should get him more targets!

  2. He does not have enough reps for good data but yes, let’s get him the ball more and OZ needs to be benched after last week’s performance.

  3. I imagine he doesn’t have many attempts by comparison. Let’s fix that. More Burden please. He’s got bums [attempting] to cover him. We need *more*.

  4. One of my favorite plays from the Giants game is the Burden catch where he’s got 2 defenders in front of him, tries a wee juke to test the waters, they don’t bite, so instead he just plows into them and drags them forward for an extra 5 yards. Dude is a beast. Give him the ball.

  5. Okay, so while this is cool, it’s also by far the smallest sample size between any of those duos. Burden has 18 targets on the year, almost half as few as JuJu at 30 and way below Diggs or Nacua. Burden should definitely be playing ahead of Oz at this point, but this is definitely one of those curated stats. I am, however, very excited about him getting more involved. He looks super dynamic every time he is out there.

  6. He’s getting there. I’m not sure if he has that trust yet. I wonder if there are some mishaps at practice that are preventing him from getting more reps.. or is it purely a seniority thing?

  7. I know it’s a small sample size but the reality is that Burden has impressed every time he’s had the chance, beginning in the preseason. I am way hyped for this guy. An athletic beast and he plays physical as hell.

  8. Limited touches so far and they have been mostly pretty schemed up. He has been playing in a lot of run heavy looks where he gets opportunities on heavy play-action so far, but I’m very excited for his future. He clearly has both the most natural hands and feet on the team. The kind the true star have, especially the ones that can play out of the slot.

At the time of the draft everyone agreed the Bears were a good spot for him because they could make him earn everything at the beginning of his career to instill good habits. It is far easier to make happen at the beginning of a player’s career than later on. For that reason I’m okay with bringing him slowly if there are still habits the Bears are tying to build and knowledge to instill. I trust Randle El. Don’t short cut the process for short-term gain, especially when Burden shows true star potential with his physical ability. The future is too bright with potentially having Caleb with three potential star targets in Rome, Loveland, and Burden locked in. Burden with his YAC ability and short area burst is really critical for that trio to reach it’s full potential.
