Maybe they should have actually scouted this guy before picking him?

Honestly we should just cut our losses and trade him this offseason. Getting him signed was a disaster, he’s bringing nothing to the table but he probably carries some sort of value due to the first round pick cachet and his athletic profile.
What are the odds of him being a useful player and on the off chance he becomes a really good player we know he’s more than happy to go scorched earth immediately when it’s contract time.
I was one of the guys wanting to give Shemar Stewart the benefit of the doubt thinking that with his physical size, speed etc that he had a chance to make a big impact with some coaching. Boy was I wrong.
I think Ced better anyway.

Hmm. So this is what no training camp does
And he is actually one of the better draft picks we have had (compared to the others) since he was getting serious play time his rookie year. Seriously, look up the Bengals draft history right now and look at all the names since 2002. How many stars do you see? Hint (0). There are only a couple guys who are solid starters. This is why the Bengals suck. We are only going to get worse over the next few years, not better.
Our players on defense are way worse than back in 2022. There is really no prospects for improving with this personnel. Everyone wants to fire the coaches, but they are actually calling good schemes. Take the last scoring play from the Bears TE that cost us that game. There were literally 3 Bengals sitting in zone back there and none of them could make any read on that play and break up the pass or even make the tackle after the catch. It wasn’t some brilliant play by the Bears. The TE ran straight up the field into our coverage and got no resistance. Our defenders weren’t on other guys in the area. What were they doing? That’s a big problem, and you can’t stop teams if your guys can’t make plays. It’s one thing to get beat by a great route and a well placed ball and catch, but it’s another thing to just let shit happen while you stand around watching and not doing anything to stop it.
An injury doesn’t make it a bad pick. His absolute lack of production in college made it a bad pick. Duke doesn’t know how to draft defensive players and hasn’t been able to since Marvin was fired.

Look at last year’s #1 pick and “project”. PFF rates him 60th our of all 76 tackles (starters/backups). For 5throudn pick that would be OK, but for a 1st round pick he is a bust.
Just another pick based on some stat, “he’s really tall!!”.
