I don’t like this hit either, and Svechnikov does have a tendency to take some pretty egregious penalties at times. This one seemed pretty unnecessary. It’s a clear missed call.
However, I appreciate that a large number of Canes fans are objective enough to call it how they see it regularly. People forget, but you’ve got kids from NC entering the NHL draft now. It’s been more than two and a half generations of kids playing in Carolina, and I think that is fantastic.

The Canucks deserved to lose that game but man were these refs useless. So many non-calls both ways that something like this was obviously gonna happen.

Yo…. that has to be 4 games. NHL cannot have that in the league. These teams play eachother once every 2 years, this isn’t some heated rivalry.
Should’ve been a minor penalty for elbowing but thats it. Contact was with the shoulder first and because of positioning of both players the arms slide up the shoulder and into the head. Its not dirty, but it is unfortunate. Even with not being more than a 2 minute minor id be fine with it also being fined. A $5k deterrent to say to be more careful is reasonable.
