MAJOR Kyle Tucker Yankee Update – Things Just took a SURPRISING Turn…
We have a major Kyle Tucker Yankees update to go over today as things have taken a wild turn in the Kyle Tucker free agency saga regarding the Yankees and other teams. And this will have a huge implication on the free agency of Cody Bellinger as well, especially considering how much we know the Yankees love Bellinger, but also we know they do have interest in Kyle Tucker as well. And now things have taken a very surprising turn regarding Tucker and his future with his next MLB team, whoever that may be. But now things look very good for Kyle Tucker and the New York Yankees. So if you want Tucker on the Yankees, you are going to like this one, guys. But before we jump into the video, if you are part of that 69% that’s not subscribed to Yankees Digest, make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss a single New York Yankees update, man. We have daily videos coming out on the Yankees. So many free agency updates to go over every single day. But let’s jump right into the video. There’s a lot to discuss. As we know, Kyle Tucker is the biggest name free agent on the market this season when it comes to who’s available. He’s going to get paid a ton of money, and this has been a known factor. The Houston Astros knew they were likely going to lose him in free agency a year ago, so they traded him off to the Chicago Cubs. Tucker had a fine year with the Cubs, but being a lefty hitting in regularly field always is going to deflate your numbers a little bit. That being said, Tucker is still expected to get a massive, massive, massive contract because of the phenomenal player that he is. the left-handed hitting right fielder has been absolutely excellent throughout his career, especially over the past couple of seasons, showing why he’s an all-star player and capable of being one of the best hitters on a professional team. And now, regarding Tucker, regarding the Yankees, we have a major update to go over as Sportsnet, who is very plugged in with the RA with the Toronto sports, meaning the Blue Jays, the Raptors, all them specifically for this, the Blue Jays. Some plugged in people according to Sportsnet say that the Yankees seem far more likely than the Blue Jays to blow Kyle Tucker out of the water with a contract offer. And Jeff Passen also revealed that the Dodgers are not inclined to go 10 plus years on Kyle Tucker. So with all that in mind, the Yankees now have their opportunity to sign Tucker, become much much better. We know Brian Cman wants to make a splash. We know the Yankees want to go out there and get as good as possible and try to win a World Series with the caveat that House Simon is only willing to pay so much money at the end of the day. Tucker is going to get the biggest contract in free agency right now. However, it’s not going to be this Juan Sodto type of deal. There is a lot of talk about it being a $400 million deal over 10 years, which wouldn’t surprise me. Also wouldn’t surprise me if the Yankees sign to that. I understand that the Yankees want to cut money in some levels, but also they’re not going to be against signing Kyle Tucker, especially with the market not looking as ideal for Tucker as many expected it to look. It does give the Yankees a good position to maybe offer Tucker a little bit less than he expected while still being the best offer for him moving forwards. Now, obviously, this would mean Cody Bellinger would likely have to find a team elsewhere, and that team I would expect to be the New York Mets in this situ in this situation, but at the end of the day, the Yankees do have to decide between Bellinger and Tucker. And Tucker is the better player. He’s also a little bit younger, but as Sleeper MLB mentioned, the Cubs won’t be the highest bidder for Kyle Tucker and he’ll likely go elsewhere according to John Haymon. Some potential candidates being the Toronto Blue Jays, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the San Francisco Giants, the Philadelphia Phillies, the New York Mets, and none other than the New York Yankees. With all these teams looking at Kyle Tucker as a very real option, the Yankees are known to be at least inclined more than the Blue Jays to blow him out of the water. The Dodgers don’t want to offer him 10 years. The Giants are paying a ton of money to multiple players. So even if they do make a big signing this season between Raphael Devers and Willie Adams, they’ve made big splashes recently. They have a lot of money that they’re going out already and paying a few different guys. So though the Giants will go for Tucker, who knows how much money they’ll actually be willing to spend. The Phillies are a very real threat. The Mets are certainly interested, but also have interests elsewhere as well. And a lot of Pete Alonzo and Edwin Diaz’s free agency will also depend on how much the Mets are probably going to be willing to spend on Tucker. though I would not count the Mets out at all. But they are also a little bit bummed that Cody Bellinger’s a left-handed hitter. So they would feel the same way about Kyle Tucker in regards to how that works. So the Yankees now have a golden opportunity to go out there and get one of the best players in the MLB. Now Tucker, he is flat out phenomenal. Again, playing in Wrigleyfield does hinder your numbers specifically in regards to how many home runs you’re going to hit. And he only hit 22 home runs on the year, which is very, very down from what he usually does in his career. His OPS was an 841 with an OPS plus of 143 who was an absolutely phenomenal player last season anyway despite battling injuries and also again being a lefty in regularly field which is very difficult for home run hitting. Now Ryan Garcia also talked about this. Shout out Ryan Garcia of Empire Sports Media who mentioned if the Dodgers aren’t serious about Kyle Tucker. It couldn’t be understated how badly the Yankees need him. Having more than two impact hitters is a requirement for winning the World Series. As we see here with the Dodgers having four in back-to-back years, the Rangers having four when they won, the Astros having five when they won, the Braves having three, the Dodgers having six in 2020, and the Nationals having three in 2019. The Yankees have not had that. And when Stanton being 36 years old next season, it seems like a good idea to add a hitter in between Aaron Judge and Ben Rice. Now, obviously, Ben Rice is great, but at the end of the day, the Yankees adding another veteran superstar player like Kyle Tucker with Aaron Judge would absolutely be huge, especially because even though Tucker is not the fastest guy in the world, he’s not a terrible athlete. And also putting him in front of Aaron Judge does make a ton of sense. If the Yankees can find that right-handed contact hitter to lead off for them and then they have Tucker batting second with Aaron Judge protection, I do expect that we’ll see a similar year to what Juan Sodto put up when he was member of the Yankees and getting Aaron Judge protection. I truly do feel that way. I mean, when we just look at the numbers and the difference between these guys, we do see that in the year where Juan Sodto was a Yankee and Tucker spent his final year with the Houston Astros, a lot of Tucker’s numbers were better. Now, here’s the thing. Sodto did get a lot more games. He nearly doubled, I mean over double played over double the games that Kyle Tucker did. Played one more game than double what Kyle Tucker played in that 2024 season. But Tucker was still better in a few different areas. For instance, his batting average was a little bit higher. His slugging percentage, his OPS, his OPS plus were all a tad higher than Juan Stos. The man is on par with one of, if not the best left-handed batter in baseball. I mean, actually, Will Show. one of the best left-handed batters in baseball, which puts Kyle Tucker as of 2024 as one of the best left-handed batters in baseball, which he absolutely is. He’s one of the best hitters in baseball in general. Good contact hitter, good eye for the ball, does a lot of what Juan Sto does, and is a much better fielder out in right than Juan Sto. Now, the Yankees having Aaron Judge out there, it does make things difficult. How much longer is Judge going to be out in right field? I’m going to guess that next season is his last one in right field. Depending on that elbow, it might already be done. But I do actually expect Aaron Judge to move to first base fairly soon. With that in mind, Tucker can take over at right field, but for a year he could play left. I don’t think Kyle Tucker is going to care about playing a year at left field. If he’s with the Yankees, a team that can win a World Series with Kyle Tucker especially would have a much better chance at winning a World Series. Their team will be fully healthy next season. Garrick Cole will be back. Carlos Rodon, Max Freed, Cam Schlitler, an elite pitching unit as well. round it out with Will Warren or if the Yankees go out there and sign another pitcher, which we do have an update on. So, you want to make sure to stay tuned for that in the coming days. So, make sure you got those post notifications on. But with this whole situation, it does make a whole lot of sense for the Yankees to sign Tucker. I’ll be honest, I would rather Kyle Tucker than Cody Bellinger. I get Bellinger’s great. I’m not saying he isn’t, but I would love Kyle Tucker. Now, the market value is high. He’s the only $40 million player this offseason. Usually, you only find one. And then rounding that is from Valdez and Cody Ballinger. Bellinger is going to get around an average annual value of $10 million less than Kyle Tucker according to Sprax projections. And look, at the end of the day, yeah, Cody Bellinger on a 7-year $180 million deal looks probably more than that. Honestly, he’s going to get a lot of money. Bellinger is still going to get a lot of money. Like a five-year, $150 million deal. Something like that makes a lot of sense for Bellinger. Maybe six years on 170 on 180. Something like that. I would guess it’s around 6180 is what we’re going to see. see Cody Bellinger sign on. I would rather give Kyle Tucker that 10 that 10400 if I’m being honest. I know that the Yankees would feel a bit different because that’s 10 extra years or that’s 10. It’s a million. It’s $10 million every year more than what Cody Bellinger is going to be getting. But at the end of the day, it does make sense to go out there and try to get the best player possible, especially when his market might not be as good as expected. If that’s the case, the Yankees might be able to get a little bit of a pay cut on Tucker, especially because the Yankees are such a perfect situation for him with Aaron Judge protection, with being able to take over at right field. Everything does sort of pan out well for Tucker to sign with the Yankees, a ballpark in which he has had some success in as well throughout his career. And yeah, I get the Cody Bellinger argument. Now, if the Yankees resign Cody Bellinger, I will be over the moon thrilled. Don’t get me wrong. I just at this point of the game would prefer Kyle Tucker, but Bellinger had an excellent season in New York. hit 29 home runs, a 272 batting average, and 813 OPS. And when you look at Kyle Tucker’s numbers, Tucker’s numbers are not necessarily a whole lot better. Bellinger had a higher batting average and more home runs than Kyle Tucker. But again, Yankee Field compared to Wrigley Field is a big difference here. And I do expect that Kyle Tucker would have upwards of 40 some odd home runs in Yankee Stadium. I fully imagine that Tucker would go out there and do that. Also, he is a solid defender. He has a gold glove to his name. He’s not going to change the world with his defense, but he is a solid defending outfielder. is far better than Juan Sodto and again can replace Aaron Judge in right field in a year as well. And then the Yankees can have room for Jason Dominguez and Spencer Jones to jump up, especially if they do start to work out. It does make a ton of sense for the Yankees to go out here and do this. It does sound like like Kyle Tucker’s becoming a much more realistic scenario for the Yankees as well. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments down below. I don’t wanna belinger back
whats the surprise?
Tucker will not come to the Yankees!
It amazes me that you said Tucker is a better player than Bellinger. Clearly we watch 2 different sports. Bellinger is a better fielder than him, is more agile and has a better arm. Bellinger is capable of stealing bases unlike Tucker Hitting is about the same but Bellinger hits great in scoring positions so you might wanna revisit your view on who is Better. Tucker would be a waste of money!.
Can a Tucker and Bellinger together be too much , it will be a dream OF with Judge.
😏 Dude you had me dialed in for you to say he was signed by the Bombers!!! 🤭 …
Where do you get your info? Nothing new here. Belli is the better option by far. Better all around player and less years and less money.
Bring in the next over-priced crew! Get reading for more disappointment in the playoffs! How about building more from the farm system ,that builds championships.
You’re like someone that cries fire in movie theater!
Yanks will sign neither Belli nor Tucker
Belli is perfect for Mets…they can outbid Hal and Randy all day,…
Tucker enriches Dodgerfsntowards the 3 peat, and they can EASILY outbid and defer $ far beyond Hal s desires.
Yanks will end up w Volpe @ SS McMahaon @ 3b Wells @ Catcher and B Rice @ 1b w Martian in CF and Jones in RF…No Rodon, No Cole, Fried will get hurt..Yanks come in 4th…and then offer Boone and Cash another 5 years…FANS in 27 will drop heavily…~27k / game
You're saying Wrigley is a harder park to hit in than yankee stadium to make the case for Tucker over Belli but didn't consider Cody's stats with the cubs. Cody's worst season with the cubs is on par with Tucker's stats and his 2023 season was even better with a .307 batting avg and 26 homeruns. Add the defense he showed us with the Yankees is telling me Bellinger is the better player, we'll save more money going getting belli back that can be put towards pitching. I sure hope Cashman doesn't see it the way you do
Wear a white shirt next time you film this video. So we can see the spear better.
Tucker was the 4th best hitter on the Astros. Last year bellinger had broken ribs. Tucker needs protection in a line up he wouldn't do well behind judge.
The Yankees can literally do both
Respectfully, Ryan Garica is just a talking head that gives out stats that anyone could use if they had no life. Also, Ryan is always wrong in prognostications. Just go over his predictions.
He never admits, Alex is much better ✔️
This guy is just coming out with crap not sure where he gets his BS info
Sign Bellinger and use extra money to get either Bregman or Bichette (2b). Yankees NEED more help in the infield. Trade Jazz for Jacob Wilson if Bichette signs.
Sign Belli say thanks no thanks to Tucker no hard feelings as others have said we can then negotiate on pitching which is obviously extremely important right now just my opinion so Let's go YANKS ❤.
In my opinion Tucker is a good not a great hitter
This is a crock. Give me Bellinger.
