Canucks fans are NOT happy about this right now….
All right, so the Kosas finished off their game against the Carolina Hurricanes, a 4-3 loss in overtime. And look, that was a very entertaining game to watch. I thought there was a ton of action that first period, especially the first 10 minutes of the game. There were four goals, power play goals, short-handed goals, injuries, breakaways, you name it, it was all there. But I’m not going to sit here and lie to you by saying that the Vancouver Conucks didn’t get lucky in this one to come away with it with a point because although they led in the third period, they were getting dominated territorially. I got to give credit to Kevin Lankin who stepped in here after Demco went down the other day. He’s played himself like four games in a row now and today might have been his best one yet of the season. He did everything he could to keep the Conucks in that one, but man, this team is trying. I can’t lie. They are trying to stay in these games and defend hard, grind out these wins in their own zone because they don’t get that many chances in the offensive zone to score. And that style of hockey where the other team is coming in with waves of offensive pressure and you’re just barely holding on, parking the bus is not often a great recipe for success. But this team, they don’t have the offensive weapons to be able to maintain offensive pressure. They get the puck in the zone and it immediately exits the zone. Defensively, too, I feel like the Conucks could be a little bit better. I don’t know how many of those back door tap-in goals the Conucks have given up this season, but it’s definitely something worth looking at because, man, it’s not very nice to your goalie who’s doing everything he can to keep you in this game when you’re giving him something that’s literally unsavable. The refs were pretty bad in this game. I’m not going to lie to you. I don’t know how the Marcus Person one in the first period was even a penalty when that, I guess, quote unquote cross check was extremely light. never gets called, but the only reason why it was called is because Jarvis was kicking and screaming because of something that his own player did to him. The one I have more of a problem though with is the one the last couple minutes where Heronic gets elbowed in the head by Svetchnikov and there is no call on the play. Heronic has to leave this one for probably some concussion protocol and as a result we were without two top defenseman heading into overtime. That’s just come on. I saw Wanderer get can opened a couple of times in this game. It is what it is, I guess, because penalties aside, the Canucks simply weren’t the better team tonight. I’m seeing a lot of people rag on Evander Kane for taking the offensive penalty, which not a very smart play, but it did lead to the Person-anded goal, so I guess I’ll let him off there. And then in the third period, yes, he could have left KA Andre Miller alone. I don’t know what he was doing in the neutral zone when the puck was in our zone. One guy who I also had a pretty bad game was Tyler Meyers. pretty lost defensively on the first and third goal that the Hurricanes scored. He was on for all three in regulation, but on this first goal, I don’t know where this pass is going. He gets picked off and then he tries to block this shot. Kind of gets in Lankin’s way a little bit, maybe screened him and it ends up in the back of our net on the third goal. Yeah, you had Kane in the neutral zone. I don’t know what he was doing. He got off the ice though, but the puck was still in our zone. So, I guess that’s kind of both them here. Myers, look, the whole point of sprawling yourself out in this way is to take away the pass. And if you’re not doing that, then you’re kind of useless on the play. You have two players, the goalie and the defenseman that are playing the shot. The rule is that the goalie always gets the shot. The player takes away the pass. So, they’re both doing their job and Myers can take away the pass. Taylor Hall has an open net. And as a result, the Canucks who were defending for a better part of that second period and third period finally let one get by them. I’ll shed some light on the Canuck goals today too. Maxon actually opened the scoring here. Nice pass from McKenzie Mckran who sprung him on a breakaway and he beats Coachov on the five hole. Very nice from Maxone. I’m a big fan of him and his speed. The Hurricanes did tie it up and get the go-ahad here. The penalty kill continues to struggle, man. Another big weak point of this team. It was one of the best last year. This year it sucks. There used to be a calmness on the PK, but now everyone seems all scrambly and not even 5 seconds into this one, Svetchnikov nets in his second of the period. 2-1. The Canucks do tie it back up though at two apiece on this short-handed chance here. Leas Person with an absolute snipe. Gets it by and that’s what happens when he shoots. He had a great game on the faceoff dot. Overall, I thought he had a strong game. The Conucks in the second period get on the power play. Nice passing play. Person to Besser to Garland and he makes no mistake. 3-2 for the Canucks and afterwards it felt like genuine hell watching this team because they were under siege just defending constantly. They maybe had one or two chances and those were just off the rush. You had Lenus Carlson after the Canes tied it up at three apiece on a breakaway basically and man it was tough to see this one not go in because the CS hadn’t generated many chances while the Canes were just piling on the pressure. I was thinking that that was probably one of the last chances the Canucks were going to have to have a great A scoring opportunity and it was because we go to overtime and the Canucks basically just hold on to the puck for the entirety of the 4 and 1/2 minutes that were played. The Canes picked it up late though and immediately started just bearing down on the chances that they were getting. Couple of really close calls and then Sebast who just seems to be very clutch in overtime snipes it by Lankin to give the Canucks an overtime loss. Hey, I guess they got a point. It was a gutsy effort and man, I would have liked to see them have a bit more offensive zone time and pressure, but I mean there’s not much you can ask for when so many guys are out of the lineup. Quinn Hughes didn’t play today. Thatcher Demco didn’t play today. No, Hoglander, Leer, Macki, Bluger, Heedle, the list goes on. Mancini, it’s just tough, man. They play the Tampa Bay Lightning at 2:00 on Sunday. So, I’ll see you in that one. Thank you for watching. Subscribe if you’re new. Peace out and take care. [Music]
The Vancouver Canucks losae in overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3. Elias Pettersson played well, Evander Kane and Tyler Myers did not have great nights. Kevin Lankinen stood on his head for the canucks but they just came up short as Sebastian Aho netted the game winner. Seth Jarvis and Filip Hronek went down due to injury.

I found a 15 pack of Sleeman's in the fridge.. you can try all you want…. but I'm still going to smile and sing at some point. No worries we got this next game.
Why are nhl refs such garbage π’
And I was reminded yet again, by my wife, a hockey game isnβt worth losing my temper over.
Kane again β¦.. FFS
From this point on. FULL DESTRUCTION AND EMBRACCING THE CHAOS should be the gear we drop the clutch on. No point of an outcome while earning an income.. right Petey?
Kane just forget what happened to his hockey sense ?
Honestly after Schvetchnikov's antics in the game, I really disliked him
Nucks skating around for the first two and a half minutes of OT playing pass the puck, instead of shooting, they deserved to lose! Nucks suck! Lol
The Canes were allowed to hook, trip, cross check, and elbow Canucks players for the entire game. I seriously donβt know how you miss a blatant elbow to the head. Officiating will always be a complete joke in this league.
When gambling is legal this is what you get Rigging games.
Canucks fans can only be unhappy at the result. The effort is there, much of the play is really good. Just sometimes (I guess when the rotations are leading to fatigue) they seem to be a step behind. But the effort is there, they play for each other and that's to be applauded and cheered on. Put it on net. Good times will come. Keep at it boys.
blatant headshot by svechnikov on hronek right in front of the refs and of course no call. what's worse is zero response by cancucks to the hit. team is softer than baby shit. can't go anywhere, will not go anywhere
Aho is indeed glutch in OT. I remember when he was 17 he scored a OT goal in game 7 of the Finnish league Finals.
You guys suck this year. Somebody should be fired because we're damn near last place…. It's hard to watch this over and over….
I didn't know canucks fans were such whiners, yikes. Pure excuses. Outshot like 40-20 lol.
the third carolina goal was mor marcus pettersson fault
Just lose out the rest of the year, sick and tired of seeing these mediocre teams season after season after season with nothing to show for it
People, reset your expectations and enjoy the struggle! I for one am tired of the blame game we fans play after 2 games. Ask any fan to predict our 2025-2026 record, and the answer will be "about 500 but hopefully get into the playoffs" . so, here we are with a 500 record despite 500 injuries. i think thats pretty damn good. sorry but there aren't many teams winning 7 out of 10 games, and we aint one of those anyway. so enjoy watching our team fight to win some and lose some and hope for a playoff berth this year, but don't be so bloody cynical after every game and want to burn down the house, or call for a 'rebuild' (as though you have GM experience and know better than Alvin/Rutheford? really you have that on your resume, eh? and don't pretend you saw what no one else saw coming in pettersons future after signing a 100pt super star … none of us saw his struggles coming, not him, not alvin, and certainly not you, so drop it already, pettersons fighting every night from what i can see) … i for one am enjoying this ride, crazy as it is, historic injury levels for the record books, and still they come out swinging (almost) every night and get a point a game on average. they're in the fight and no one on that team is giving up despite their podcasters/fans. go canucks go!
it baffles me how myers can be bad most of the time and then randomly turn it on and look like a calder winner once in a while
Kane is a liability.
Iβd rather have Benning back as GM.
As an oilers fan. You can have Kane lol he's not bad in the playoffs, but he's in the box way to often.
Brutal ref
get kane off the team
The Canucks last month (having played 12 regular-season games overall), when having:
– scored under 3 goals, lost all 5 relevant games they had played in regulation
– allowed at least:
β 3 goals/game, put up a 4β4β0β0 win-regulation loss-OT loss-shootout loss record
β 4 goals/game, went 0β3β0β0
This month, the Canucks have a record of 2β3β2β0, having gone 0β2β0β0 when having scored under 3 goals/game but having allowed at least 3 goals in each of the 7 games they played, including at least 4 (1β3β2β0) in SIX of them. Defensive awareness for much of this month seems to have gone out the window for the Canucks, and itβs a surprise their record isnβt even worse than it already is.
