S Budda Baker Press Conference- 11.6.25 | AZ Cardinals
Good to uh good to get out of that losing streak and just kind of put that behind you. Yeah. Yeah. You know, uh definitely good to get a win coming off the by-week. Um you know, we leave the past in the past and uh you know, we’re one was one and0 last week, now on to a new week. Uh great seahawk team. Uh playing real great football right now. So big opportunity for us. We talked a lot about fourth quarter defense going into the Cowboys game and that was the first time it wasn’t a one-sore game and you guys maintained the lead. What did you guys execute better or differently that led to that that you can continue moving forward? Yeah, I mean uh we just continued to take it one play at a time. Um just continued to hone in on the details, hone in on, you know, uh urgently getting lined up and uh executing our play call each and every play. And you know, we felt if we could do that, you know, when the clock hits zero, we’ll we’ll be winning the game. So, that’s the biggest thing that we’ve done and the things we’re going to continue to try and do. Do you believe teams have to learn how to win? Can can they learn how to finish? Can that be a process? I mean, yeah, I I think so. Um, you know, it all starts with, you know, everybody, you know, everybody has to uh, you know, hone in on their details. Each and every player on the field. 11 players on the field. If one guy’s off, you know, that’s why this this this sport is a team sport because if one guy is off, then you can have a a big play happen. So, just like you said, learning how to win, learning how to continue to be on the details even when we’re tired. And uh just to take it one play at a time and to do your job. Um definitely think that’s learned and you know, that’s something that is coached throughout the weeks, throughout the days. So, that’s something we’re uh going to continue to try and do. How similar or different does Seattle’s offense look week 10 versus week four when you saw him the first time? Yeah, a little more uh big personnels. They they like to do uh a little more 12 personnel. Um you know, uh JSN is still making a lot of plays, still doing the things that, you know, he was doing when we played him. Um, you know, so, you know, I would say it changed a little, but you know, they’re they’re as a team, they want to run the ball. They want to be able to, you know, drop back and throw play action passes and, uh, get their runners, get their receivers the ball in space and let them create havoc. So, they’re doing a great job with that. And Sam Darnold is doing a great job of um, you know, being that leader and, uh, making all the right corrections and reads. So, it’s definitely going to be a big week for us and a challenging week uh with the with the team very good like that. After all these years, is playing in Seattle still a thing for you? Yeah. Yeah, of course. You know, year nine, uh it’s always great to play back home where I’m from, you know, I went to University of Washington, so that’s about 15 minutes away. Um definitely special to go back um you know do my ritual, do my routine and uh you know have have a great time, have a great game on Sunday. What is the trickle down effect of having Garrett back on the field for the rest of the secondary and maybe even Nick and and play calling in? Yeah, I mean just to just to have G back uh you know G can do a lot of things. So, just to have him back, uh, he’s very, uh, detail oriented. Um, you know, a guy who does a great job of taking a one play at a time and, uh, he’s definitely going to be able to execute each and every play that he’s on the field. So, it’s definitely great to have Jeep back. Um, you know, we still we still were doing our things with him off the field, but with him on the field, that’s just another guy that’s you know, a you know, a pro that you know, knows his job and knows the ins and out of his job and um, you know, he does a great job at it. Does his presence does that change anything for you? Does that free you up more than if he wasn’t in the lineup? Uh, I wouldn’t say that. I would just say, you know, however Nick calls it, you know, kind of kind of um, you know, free frees it up in a sense. Um, so when JT was at Nickel, you know, Nick kind of did the same things, but now that he’s back, JT is able to go back to safety and, um, you know, we’re able to continue to do our things, but also, you know, get into dime personnel, get Rabbit in, and, you know, have have us all in there. So, um, you know, I I would just think it was it would be good for Nick because he’s he’s able to have his nickel back and a guy who’s really good football player. After the Colts game, you had talked about how you were frustrated not having that almost interception. And it was an interception, but the fumble recovery to get your hand on the football. I mean, what what were you thinking that moment? Was it like a sigh of relief cuz it’s been a minute? Yeah. Um, I I was definitely excited just to touch touch the rock. Um, you know, PBUS are cool, but just being able to touch the rock. I’m you know, I I kind of wanted to get going a little bit, but I got tackled right away, but it was definitely um, you know, kudos to Mac for getting the ball out and, uh, you know, Rabbit tipped it up and I kind of just had to corral it in. So, uh, yeah, it was definitely special to get it, you know, get my hands on the football and just definitely excited to, uh, you know, first and foremost do my job, but if that ball’s in the air to try and get one when Walt is that disruptive out of the gate, what does that add to your defense? Yeah, adds a lot. You know, I knew he was going to be disrupted when he came in and, uh, you know, he was going against our ones. um just a guy who was getting in the back field early and um it was definitely special to see. So, I knew when he was going to come back that, you know, uh our D line and our defense as a whole would would jump up um just because, you know, first and foremost, he’s a rookie, so you know, maybe teams might be not paying attention to him as much, but for him to do what he did the first game with, you know, I think he had 30ome snaps. Um, definitely a guy who can get in the back field, can do his job, um, creates a lot of havoc for for the O line and can create more one-on-ones for our ed edge rushers and, you know, even Kas. So, um, sky’s is the limit for him. Uh, I talk to him a lot. He’s a He’s a great rookie, great young man, a guy who’s gonna, you know, continue to play great football. And um I’m excited to to to see how this future is going to be for him because I definitely think he’s going to be one of those guys that, you know, people are going to know for years to come.
