🔴LIVE 🔴Kansas City Chiefs VS Denver Broncos/NFL Week 11/ /Madden NFL 26

[Applause] Broncos fans, time for some mile high thunder. Please welcome your Denver Broncos. [Applause] set now to wrap up a busy week of football. Happy to have you with us. And folks, we are underway on Monday night prime time. and he’ll be tackled just shy of the 25c. So, here are the Broncos now for their opening drive. And they are led out there by their mobile quarterback. And a year ago when he was drafted, it felt like central casting. Bo Nicks coming to the NFL ready to roll. And he surpassed all expectations a season ago and threw for nearly 30 touchdown passes as a rookie fell just short with 29. But a huge piece of his team’s future. on the run. This is JK Dins. And somehow he’s going to get a yard out of this as he fought through that first contact. It’s second down. Well, sometimes you just have to give credit to the defense. Great job there at the point of attack holding up. They won their battles at the line of scrimmage. Left him no space to try and run. Really nice job swarming to the ball carrier. Now Dobbins again on second down. And they get him down, but not before he takes it across the 40 yd line. It’ll be a pickup of 16 and a Bronco. First down. CD a lot of times like to separate speed and quickness. And they’ve got a back that’s both. We know that he’s fast and in the open field, but man, his first step is so quick, too. It is something, isn’t it? because you think of that type of speed getting to the perimeter and turning up field, but also when you run those inside runs, he can get into the secondary so fast the linebackers don’t have a chance to react. I think we’ll see more of them trying to get him the football out of the back field. They love what he can do in open space and they believe that he creates mismatches they can exploit. Here’s second and 10. Now it’s Nicks. They set up the screen for Dobins. And he’ll be taken down, but not before he gets into enemy territory. That one going for a gain of 11 and a Bronco first down. And as you’re game planning as a staff, you go through all the different ways you can neutralize the other guys pass rushers. extra line, leave a tight end in, bring the running backs back in to block. Or you can do this, a little simple screen pass, and it works to perfection. Off the play fake. Here’s Nicks. Man open. He’s got it complete to Courtland Sutton. 12 more yards there and another first down. I think when they look at their offense, they think to themselves, weapons, weapons everywhere. And they want to move the ball around. They want to spread it to different people. But you absolutely know they want to get this man involved as well. And that’s what they just did on that play. What play action? Here’s Nicks. He’ll swing this out to Dins. Just a gain of a couple there. And that’ll make it second down. And they’re getting him involved early. you feel like they saw something on tape or they just have a sense with him because he’s had a good week of practice or something in that area that they want him involved. Just as you said, they want him to touch it either in the running game or the passing game, but they must like the matchups they’re getting. Try to find a lane, but instead he’ll get back to the line of scrimmage. And no more. Now they’re staring at a third and eight. That last play backwards a yard. That was well played there defensively. two tight ends in the formation which essentially gave him seven blockers up front. Hard to imagine with all that size and beef that they could let a tackler through, but that’s exactly what happened. A loss resulted and that will be incomplete. The Kansas City defense tough to throw on there and now it’s fourth down. I know coaches tell us all the time that having a powerful arm isn’t the number one thing they look for in a quarterback, but when you’re trying to throw inside routes and you need to put some heat on it, it helps to have the big gun. In this case, just a little bit too much. Now Lutz for the field goal try. This will be kicked from the 42. It’s a 52 yd attempt. The kick by Lutz is good and the Broncos the first to grace the scoreboard. It’s three zip. So, the opening drive does yield points. Maybe not the seven they wanted, but they’ll take the three. Accumulating first downs does not go up on the scoreboard, but it does go into the DNA of a team that’s trying to establish itself to start a game. That has to feel pretty good for them. They’ll take the three. Yeah, they had three first downs and three points. Following the made field goal, Lutz to kick it away. [Applause] And he brings us out past the 20 to the 24. Here’s the Chiefs offense for their first possession. And it’s Patrick Mahomes at quarterback. And of course, number one trying to win the game today. But for him, it’s always about Super Bowls trying to get back to his fourth consecutive one. fell short of the NFL’s first ever three repeat in the Super Bowl last year. He wants to avenge that loss at the end of this season. Mahomes will lead the Chiefs up first and 10 at their own 24. He’ll start the drive here with Pacheco. Now, some good hard running there as he’ll push his way forward for about five. Oh, that was a thing of beauty right there. Look at how quick those blockers fired off the line once the ball was snapped. That was an O line on a mission. All in sync and the defense is lucky that play only picked up five yds. Ball on the 30. They’ll come up with a second and five. Mahomes now to throw. This one complete. It’s Rasheed Rice. Nine yds the pick up there and it’s a first down. To win any route, you’ve got to break down the defender. And that’s exactly what happened here on this really nicely executed curl route. A gain of y. So here’s a first and 10 at the 38. [Applause] They go play action now. Momes and that’s going to be incomplete. Zone coverage there. And they were playing deep. That makes it obviously a little bit harder to run by guys. And that time there was not much of a window to get the ball in there and it winds up incomplete. Second and 10. [Applause] Looking to throw is Momes. Got a man and he hits him in stride. And getting this just shy of midfield. They’ll spot it at the 49. an 11 yd pick up and it’s enough for a Chief’s first down. That’s a pretty play there coming out of the back field. But as that back, you’ve got to be conscious of making sure you’re securing the football. When you get out in open field, sometimes you get a little loose with it as you’re trying to get up ahead of steam. Make sure you keep it close to your body because those defenders are trying to punch it free. He does a nice job there protecting the ball and picking up a first down. And he is out of bounds, but not before he’s inside the 30. 23 yds the final tally. You don’t always expect tight ends to be big in terms of run after the catch, but after that play, he joins a growing band of players that’s putting that stereotype right on its ear. [Applause] On first and 10, here’s Pacheco and nothing doing. He’s immediately taken down at the line of scrimmage. They’ll lose a yard there and it’s second and 11. Part of the thinking when you bring in extra tight ends, you’re hoping that each of your guys gets those one-on-one blocks and creates a crease for your runner. You know what the converse is though? You’ve got to win those one-on-one blocks. And when you don’t, that’s the result you end up with. Here’s Momes to throw. That one caught by Rice. And this is going to be another first down as they’ll make the tackle at the Broncos 15 yd line. Kansas City Chief. They give him 13 yds there on the play and a fresh set of downs. A gain of 13 yd. First down. Line of scrimmage. The 15. It’s first and 10. Now Momes. He’ll check this one down to Pacheco and he’ll go down here at the 12 yd line. They’ll give him four yards there at second down. Well, offensively that’s the mismatch that you want. You want to force a linebacker to try and cover your back out of the back field, out in some open space. But linebackers nowadays, they run like backs and they take a lot of pride in covering. What a nice play he made there in the open field. It’s Kelsey on the ground. The broken tackle could not free him as he’s brought down at the 10 yd line. Two yards on the pickup there and it’s third and four now. Completion was given up, but that’s why you play zone defense so that you can have people around the ball when it’s caught and you don’t give up much run after the catch. This now a third and four. And again, it’s Momes working the middle of the field and he’s got a man complete and he will take it on in for a Chiefs touchdown. Rasheed Rice a Nyd touchdown grab and the Chiefs are able to answer the early three points and take a first quarter lead. Personally for him, a great opening drive. He had three catches including the touchdown. That felt like tremendous scouting, great film watching and creating a game plan to start this off. Not only to get him involved, but to send a message to the defense. You have a lot to handle in this one. Extra point by Bucker is on target and that makes it a 73 lead. Broncos three. So that one a pretty timeconsuming 10play drive and it’s capped off with a Kansas City touchdown. Now after the touchdown, here’s Buter on to kick it away. A heck of a move and he won’t quite make it to the 25. four yd line. So now the second drive offensively coming up for the Denver Broncos and after the field goal last time. We’ll see what they can get here. At least they got points out of the last drive. Charles, I never met an offensive coach that didn’t want a drive to end with a kick. Most of them wanted to end with a PAT, right? In this case, a field goal. They’ll take it. Way better than the alternative, which is a punt. Yeah, but you met fan bases that wanted that that weren’t happy with that field goal. I haven’t met a fan base yet that wants a drive in with a kick. other than the extra point. That’s it. The drive will commence with a run by JK Dobbins and he is going to be stopped cold behind the line of scrimmage. Officially, it’s a oneyd loss. That’s going to bring up second and 11. They had three tight ends in that formation. That’s almost a universal sign that they’re planning to run the football. But how about the defense there? They met force with force and caused a stack up behind the line of scrimmage and threw him for a loss. Here’s Nicks. He’ll try and set up the screen. It’s complete and he’s taken down but able to slip across the 35. Denver has the first down. The play going for 15 yds. They certainly made a point of getting him involved in the passing game here in the first half. They must have seen something in the scouting that said, “Hey, we can capitalize on him getting the ball possibly in the open field.” And I think in the second half that may loosen up the defense a little bit to get the running game going back inside. And he sneaks his way forward only for a couple here. Second down. That was just a pile of bodies there. And that’s when you kind of find out who’s a tough guy, right? Who can stand up and make a play. It was only a three- yd run. But for both sides, they had to walk away from that feeling like, okay, I can stand up when the going gets tough in here. Now Dobbins again on second down and he’ll get it into enemy territory just across midfield at the 49. A 10yd pick up and it’s enough for a Broncos first down. Well, they came into this game saying it was important that they set the tone and show that they can run the football. I believe that they’ve done that here in the first quarter. So now first and 10 in Chief’s territory at the 49 yd line. Knicks to the air. Call it a gain of a yard. And it’s second down. And we see another pitch and catch there to the running back. This position just continues to evolve. They become just as critical to the passing attack as a lot of receivers, tight ends, because their ability to make people miss in the open field can really generate big plays for an offense. Working out of the gun is Knicks. That’ll be complete to Dobins. And he’ll get it inside the 40 to the 39. Nine yardds to pick up there. And it’s a first down. We’ve seen quite a bit of the short passing game here early on first quarter, haven’t we? We have. And I think it works a couple of ways for for this team because number one, you throw the short game until they stop it. And if they’re not going to stop it, you keep throwing it. And occasionally, you’ll break a tackle and turn into a bigger gain. Also, if they start to creep up, start to pressure receivers, now you go over the top, take it deep, and now you get some of those big shots downfield. He’ll get 10 there all on his own, but it’ll be second down. That’s an early scramble that can be viewed positively by either side. From the offensive point of view, it begins to establish him as a possibility to keep it on certain plays. And defensively, they avoided giving up a huge play and one of their first tests in containing a quarterback on the run. only a gain of a yard, but that’s all they needed. Second and inches is often times an invitation for an offense coordinator to take a big shot downfield because he feels like he can come back on third down and pick up the first down. But sometimes you just don’t want to break tendency. Stay with what you are. Stay with who you know and go get the first down. That’s exactly what they did. Right back to Dobbins on first. Oh, felt like that move deserved more than he got there. A gain of two. Certainly a nice job there by the defense rallying to the football and getting him on the ground. But I think the play gets made by the defensive front because if they can’t get up field, their job is to go ahead and get low, almost get into a ball sometimes, stack things up and make it difficult for the runner to find a hole. And that one is incomplete. And it also concludes quarter number one after one. 73 the score on EA Sports. Second quarter about to begin from Denver. It’s the Broncos in possession of the football as they’ve got it with a third down coming up. They’ll be in search of eight yardds here as they hope to convert the first down to throw is Knicks. Going to throw deep for the end zone and it’s knocked away and incomplete. The Kansas City defense tough to throw on there and now it’s fourth down. They decided the opportunity was there and launched a deep ball but he was unable to get away from the defender. couldn’t create space, couldn’t uncover the end of the route and that one winds up incomplete. Now Lutz for the field goal try. He hit his first one. This from 44 yds out now. The kick by Lutz is good. And they’ll get it back within a point at seven to six. So no problems at all on that one. And you know there’s virtually no win. This is a kicker’s dream here tonight. It absolutely is, isn’t it? So to me with no wind, it should be a passer’s dream as well, right? But in this case, the defense held out. They had to force the field goal. Following the made field goal, lets to kick it away. [Applause] Oh, a good return up past the 30 and a good return able to get out across the 35 to the 36. Kansas City taking the field for their second drive. This drive here beginning probably with a pair of motivated groups. Remember the offense scored a touchdown on their last time out looking to repeat that. And Charles’s defense, they were very frustrated after giving up six the last time on the field. And frankly, it’s just a battle of wills in a lot of ways because, you know, they’re both motivated. They both game plan for this drive and they both have specific outcomes in mind. To me, it just comes down to who can execute better and which side can step up and assert its will over the other. And he gets this one to midfield before he’s brought down. First down yardage on the first play of the drive. 14 y sold the go route really well. Thought he was going deep, then curled it back inside for a nice completion. Ste’s love when they pump the brakes, don’t they? Yeah, that’s really that’s really a whole lot of fun. It’s almost like you said, listen, if you’re going to sell the go, just go and let’s see who’s faster. Headed straight. It’s PCO and a nice spin into some open field and all the way in for a Kansas City touchdown. Touchdown Kansas. Isaiah Pacheco 50 yds and the Chiefs are able to strike quickly to add on to their lead. And on that long run, maybe the defense caught napping a little bit. The concentration level may not have been there. I agree with you on that one because those types of plays when they result like that, they’re almost like big bolts of lightning, aren’t they? Whoosh. And off he goes. Buter on for the pat and it’s up. It’s good. Our score 14-6. It only took him two plays there to find the end zone. The last one, the long run, getting him in for six points. Now after the touchdown, here’s Buter on to kick it away. [Applause] And a nice return sets him up pretty good here right at the 30 yd line. The Broncos offense and their running back getting set to go once more. And he has been a big component of the passing game. So far, you see the numbers for this first half. This defense is going to need to find some way to key in on him because he is eating him up right now. Denver offense at the line ready to go. They’ve been settling quite a bit. They’ve been able to move the football some, but they’ve just been settling. That’s one of the reasons they’re down on the scoreboard. I love that word you picked, settling, because Nowadays into in this NFL, you’re thinking touchdown almost every drive because everything’s so highowered. Yeah, you’ll take the field goal, but you always feel like you’re leaving points out there when you don’t put it in the end zone. They’ll be trying to put it in the end zone here on this drive. So now first and 10 in Chief’s territory at the 43. Nicks from the shotgun and he’s got his man in stride complete and he takes this just a few yards shy of the red zone before going out. 19 yds that time for number 19. And it’s a real luxury when you have a guy who can turn a short throw into a solid gain at any moment. Once he caught that ball, he IDed where the open grass was and got there in a hurry to pick up a new set of downs for his offense. On first and 10, it’s Dobins and some determined running there as he’ll pick his way down to the 12 yd line. 70 yards for him on the ground so far tonight as he has been terrific in this first half. Would you say this offense is locked in right now? They’re having no trouble on this drive. What is it? Three plays, three first downs. Yeah, you talk about on the march. They keep this up, they’ll get to that end zone real fast from down at the 12. It’s first and 10. They’ll go again with Dobins and this time the yards won’t come so easy as they’ll in fact tackle him behind the line. Two yards the loss. Second and 12. I know that speed is the hallmark of today’s NFL game. But the key to good rushing defense is still having your linebackers set the edge. Now they contend with a second and 12 after the loss to throw. Oh, here’s Nicks. He’ll get that complete to Franklin. A gain of eight there on the play. And that’ll bring us to a third and four. That was a nicely run slant route. And what the receivers is trying to do is make the defender think he’s going up field for a deeper route and then breaks it off usually after about three to four steps and cuts towards the middle of the field. And now what he’s trying to do is use his body to keep the defender away from the football and get the quarterback a and he’ll take it into the end zone for a Denver score. Bo Nicks a sixyd touchdown run and the Broncos are back within a couple of the lead. Nothing like understanding where your escape hatches are as a quarterback here. He’s looking but he knows he doesn’t want to force anything. So when nothing avails itself, he slips past the rushers, takes it right up the middle and takes it into the end zone. Will lots on for the point after and this is up and good. It brings him within a point now. It’s 1413. A drive that time of six plays and it’s capped off by a touchdown run of six yards [Applause] after the touchdown. Lutz to kick it off. and out a little across the 25 to the 27. KC’s offense ready to take over. And right now they’re saying, “Hey, let’s keep this going.” Two drives, two touchdowns. Yeah. Can’t ask for a better start than that, can you? I mean, this is the way you practice it. This is the way you rehearse it. But right now, the play calling, they’re locked in really well. Mahomes will lead the Chiefs up first and 10 at their own 27. They’ll come out throwing here to start the drive. Room past the 35 and all the way up to the 45 yd line. Successful start to the drive. 17 yds and moves the sticks. and a Kansas City Chiefs first down. First and 10 at the 45 yd line. And that’s not a play that you see all that often at the start of a drive, but some teams they don’t mind doing it. And that one well sold by the offensive lineman. They showed the pass and then they got out into space. Able to get some good blocks downfield and allow the play to be successful. And he’ll take this ahead for about four. Second down coming up. That was a quality play to start a new set of downs. That was simply an offensive line winning the battle up front and wing in a big way and giving their guy in the back field a nice lane to hit. Second and six. [Applause] Now here’s Momes and a little floater there is incomplete. I see the surprise in your face there partner. That is a rare incompletion from him. He’s been on point this entire game. He has percentage completion wise way up. Not that time. So after the second down incompletion, they’ll come up now against a third and six. [Applause] Shotgun snap to Momes. That is caught. And this is going to be another first down as they’ll make the tackle at the Broncos 35. A sizable 16 yd chunk there. The drive continues. The Kansas City Chiefs first down. First and 10 at the 35 yd line. Good strong throw and catch right there. And so far in this game, the alleys have been open for them to get completions and they’re taking advantage of it. Gets it up the gun and a short gain down to about the 33. Trey Green Law in there on the tackle. That felt like a trap because it looked to me like the opposing front was on that play from the get-go. They had everyone crashing the ball carrier before he even made the line and they hold him to just a yard. Ball at the 33. Second and nine [Applause] to throw. It’s Momes and he’s going to go down. They get to him back at the 40. Nick Bonito coming in there to record the sack. Yeah, some real defensive resistance there, saying not so fast to a good drive. They had marched to the end zone the last time out. [Applause] [Applause] Going to need better protection here. Third and long following the sack for Momes and company. He’ll drop to throw and he overshot him there. It’s out of bounds. Incomplete. Well, that play was certainly a little bit different because on the previous play he was sacked. This time protection a lot better. Had time to survey the field and still couldn’t find an open receiver. On fourth down, the Chiefs send out Matt Arise at a pun. He’ll send this away into the Rocky Mountain Knight and it’s a good one. And that one hits at the seven, but bounds into the end zone and that’ll be a touchback. JK Dobbins leading the way as the offense returns to the field. They’re behind in the first half here, Sidi, but it’s not through any fault of their running back. He’s had a strong start to this one. And you’re right about that, partner, because watching him play, you would think that his team is in the lead. He has been a lot of fun in this contest. Now, let’s see if they can actually make something happen and put more points on the board behind his efforts. Yeah, I’m curious to see, Charles, if they can play complimentary football and get that passing game going as well. Now, it’s Knicks on to Slay. It completes to Sutton. And that’s good for a pickup of 10 yards. And they’ll be left with a second and about a foot. You can see the time and effort and thought that they put into their passing game because it was evident right there. It looks like a simple pitch and catch, but you and I both know that they have planned for this and worked hard to make it happen. They’ll run up the gut with Dobins. Only a gain of a yard, but that’s all they needed. I know what you’re thinking out there. I know a lot of you are thinking take a shot downfield. It’s a great spot for it. I’d say maybe later in the game, definitely in the second half, but right now I think they were just trying to get some momentum built. Get a first down, pick it up, and keep moving. Another run here with Dobins. And not a whole lot of room to operate there on the first down run. He gets maybe three. Not a huge carry there on first down, but not all of them will be. Still all in all a positive play for the offense. It’s all about picking up at least a few to set up what you’re going to do here on second down. Second and seven operating from the 34. A give up the middle to Dobins looking to find a lane but he can’t. Rained in at the line of scrimmage. No gain on the play there. So they’re left with a third down and six. His carries tonight. They’re getting up there. So maybe one of those every now and then is understandable. I would agree with that. Understandable every now and then. Sometimes you come back and you fake it to him and go play action. But other times you say, “Okay, they got him on that one. We’ll come back to him in another carry.” And this won’t do it. He needed six. He only got halfway there. I thought they might take a shot down the field, but instead they ran a little drag route there. I think they were hoping he could catch it and run away from the defender. But a really good job keeping the play in front of them and they force a fourth down. On fourth down out is the rookie sixth round pick Jeremy Cross shot a punt. Nico Ramiho deep for KC. This is brought in at the 21. Call that a 41 yd punt. Six yds on the return. And it’s Chiefs football first and 10. Kansas City’s offense now set ready to go. The crowd maybe losing just a little bit of the edge after backto-back punts. They want some big plays. They want to see some offense. They want to see somebody break away, whether it’s through the air or on the ground. Now, it’ll be interesting to see where the patience is on both sides. to each head coach. Can you hang in there and not try and force something that could put your team in some jeopardy? Mahomes going to throw quickly to Kelsey and down he goes, but he takes it up to the 40. Right off the bat, it’s a first down to start the drive. 12 yds. A lot of tight ends just use their size and their strength, try to occupy some space and kind of body people away and catch the football. But not this guy. He’s a refined route runner. Makes me wonder if he took some dance classes in his background with his footwork. Throwing now is Momes. That’s caught. Hits Xavier Worthy. And they get to him after a gain of six to the 46. A sixyd pickup brings up second and four at the 46 yd line. This second and four. running left to give to PCO and that’ll hurt the average a bit as this time they’re able to get him behind the line. Call that a loss of a yard and things get a little more difficult here. Third and five. [Applause] And we’ve hit the two-minute mark in this first half of action. Here is third and five. Working from the gun, Momes. And that’s going to be incomplete. The contact there enough to jar that ball free and it brings up fourth down. One first down here and that’s all folks. Good work by this defense to hold things in check and force a punting situation. [Applause] On fourth down, Matt arises sent on to punt. It’ll be a net of 39. 41 yd punt. Two on the return and it’ll be first and 10. Broncos from deep in their own territory. throwing Knicks. They set up the screen for Dobbins. And from the 15, they’re able to work this up to the 20 for a pick up of a handful. And a really nice play call there to start the drive, especially if you’re a team that has a little bit of a reputation for throwing it downfield. You come out and you think maybe you can catch him off guard a little bit and they did. Little screen pass back door him. And that time worked well for a solid gain. That’s caught by his tight end Evan Ingram and he is out of bounds right around the 34. He’s got his first catch here before halftime and it goes for a first down. We didn’t need to ask around the league, but we got to confirm this guy’s a good player. They’ve got to find a way to get him more involved. Call a few more plays that target him. Absolutely. Because here we are toward the end of the first half. And that’s the first target. Not just the first catch, first target. They’ll look to throw here on first down. Now, the offense going to use the first of their timeouts as they’ll talk things over prior to this upcoming second down play. operating from the gun. Here’s Nicks. A quick throw there is incomplete. Partner guaranteed. They approached this play with the idea of making up ground to make third down manageable. Unfortunately, with that incompletion, right back where they started on the last snap. Now, they need a big third down play in order to pick up the yardage needed. An incomplete pass on that last play. And that means they’ll need to come up with something here on third down. Operating from the gun, Nicks. And it’s incomplete. Took a shot, couldn’t connect. Not only did he have a chance to scan the field there, it felt like he had a chance to scan it twice. The protection was that good. Unfortunately for him, the coverage downfield equally good. On fourth down, Jeremy Cross Shaw on punt. [Applause] Now Rami, it’s a 40yd punt. Six yds on the return and they will take over first and 10. And now here comes Kansas City. And now with still more than a minute to go in what’s been a tight game. You figure we’ll try to see them move the ball downfield. And remember they get the kickoff to start the second half. So, this is a golden opportunity for them to go down there and put up a couple of sixes back to back. What a momentum swing that would be. Yeah, you might be able to get a two for one without ever even giving up the football. [Applause] Now, Momes. They’ll set up the screen to Pacheco and they bring him to the ground just shy of midfield. The Chiefs will use the first of their timeouts as the clock will stop with 55 seconds to go until halftime. First down. A gain of 11 on the play and a first down Chiefs. Here’s Momes to throw. That one caught by Rice and he is tackled inside the 40. Not quite to the 35. It’s a gain of that goes for a Chiefs first down. 14 yds. Kansas City Chiefs first down. First and 10 at the 37 yd line. And defensively they were in zone coverage there. Do you have to be a little careful you’re losing playing against a good quarterback like he is to not play too much zone? Yeah, you have to be careful about how much time you’re giving up. I think it’s a good point you just brought up. So maybe if you still want to play zone, you go to a zone blitz scheme and you can drop anyone out of your defensive front, defensive end, defensive tackle. It doesn’t matter. You just exchange someone to bring more pressure towards the quarterback and still try and cover downfield. Now a second and 10. In motion, the tight end Kelsey. Now it’s Momes again. A good gain of nine before he’s brought down at the 28. Now another timeout called for by the offense as the stoppage will come with 23 seconds to go till halftime [Applause] here now. Third and a yard. looking to throw is Momes. Working the middle of the field and he’s got a man complete and he will have a Chiefs first down as they’re able to get the third down conversion. That’s another Kansas City Chiefs first down. A gain of nine yards. First down Chiefs. And with just four seconds left in this first half, a timeout call. [Applause] So with four seconds to go in the half, here’s the field goal unit onto the field. But kick here is good and that’ll move their lead up to four now. So they are able to end that drive with three points in this onep possession ball game. And ideally you want to end every drive with points. It’s most quarterbacks who tell you, “Let’s end it with a kick.” Right? A PAT. That’s number one. Field goal. You’ll take punts. You really don’t want to do that. In this case, they’ll take the field goal and get prepared for the rest of the game. So, still time for the kickoff here. 1 second to go in the half as this one is away. And they will not get a chance to return this one. It’s through the back of the end zone for a touch y. The Broncos onto the field ready to start their next drive. One second all that remains. A short throw to Ingram. Halftime here on Monday Night Prime Time. It is off to Orlando we go. Here is Scott Hansen with our halftime report. Scott. All right, Brandon. Thanks much. Welcome in everyone to the Orlando studios. Scott Hansen with you for a quick halftime report. We’ll let both sides catch their breath and get their orange wedges as we’re going to get ready for the third quarter action. So, let’s go back out to the stadium as we rejoin our broadcast team, Brandon Goden and Charles Davis. Okay, Scott, thank you. And this one still anybody’s game. We’ll see who can come out with a hot hand in this second half as we are about to get underway. Will ready for the start of the third quarter. The Chiefs have the lead and set to receive the football. A solid return. Pretty good field position. They’ll start at the 32. their own. Here comes the Chief’s offensive unit as they’ll have it to begin quarter number three. [Applause] Mahomes will lead the Chiefs up first and 10 at about the 32. [Applause] Here’s Pacheco to begin the drive. And they get him down, but not before he takes it across the 40 yd line. 69 yds now on the ground. Just seven carries. First down. A gain of 11. We’ve seen him break off a big run already in this game. And for a second, that one looked like it might be another. Yeah. I think that any defense would say, “Look, we can’t let him get to the second level because sometimes you’ll break off the big run on his own.” But often times you get additional blocking at the second level which gets you deeper into the secondary. They go play fake Momes. A throw right side taken in by the tight end Gray. So just three yardds on the completion there and that’s going to bring up second down. It’s vitally important to wrap him up immediately because if you let that big guy get ahead of steam up, boy, then you’ve got real trouble trying to get him down. But they’re able to hold him to a short gain on first down. Play action. Now it’s Momes and this one is incomplete. Well, he certainly thought he had an open look beyond the first down marker to his receiver, but they just couldn’t connect. And that will send them back to the drawing board. They head to the line facing a third and seven following the incompletion on second down. Mahomes now to throw. He’s got his target. That’s complete and he will have a Chiefs first down as they’re able to get the third down conversion. That’s good for a Kansas City Chiefs first down. Whenever we talk about moving the sticks and controlling the football, there’s a great example right there. Those are the third downs you need to convert to win football games. We’re in the third quarter of this one and this is a tight one. In order to maintain pace, keep the ball away from the other team and put points on the board. Those are the plays they need to continue to convert. Just a yard on the pickup there and it’ll bring up a second and nine. Yeah, things were pretty stacked up there in the middle of the line. A lot of bodies, not much space. I think ultimately he was fortunate to get anything out of that run. Second and nine from the 44. [Applause] He’ll look to throw. Oh, that’ll be incomplete. He took a shot as he let that go and it’s going to bring up a third down. And when you’re in a one-score game in the second half, now’s not the time to force the football to places where you shouldn’t. And that’s a smart decision to just get that one out of there. And they’ll need to get to the 35 if they want to keep this drive going on third down. From the gun, it’s Momes. He’ll try and do this himself. 20 down to the 10 and all the way in for a Kansas City touchdown. Kansas City. Patrick Mahomes adding to his bag of tricks with a tremendous run and the Chiefs are able to add on to that lead. Circle that drive because that might be one to remember. Well executed to give them a little cushion. Well, let’s take it into the boxing ring. You talk about them commanding it, keeping the fight where they wanted to, whether it was in the center of the ring or putting them on the ropes because it was jab, jab, jab, and finally the haymaker to put that drive away. But now to add the extra point and that one pushes the lead up to 11. So, this drive spans seven plays and it was all capped by Patrick Mahomes using his legs to get in the end zone. Now after the touchdown, here’s Buter on to kick it away. [Applause] Gets past one man and makes it across the 20 as his guys will set up shop at the 23 yd line. So now a look at the Broncos as they head back out there for their first possession of the second half. They make their second half debut here and things are looking a little bit tougher now. You give up the points there, Charles. a touchdown drive on the other side. So now it’s a two-score game here. Got to be careful. They certainly do. And I’m just wondering at halftime if those guys just looked into each other’s eyes and realize what they’ve got to get done and come out a little bit more charged up because they don’t get some kind of points here, that next drive, that could make this a three- possession game. 84 yds for him on the ground now. He has been a tough man to bring down all night. Despite the score, despite the deficit, no quitting this guy. He’s running angry, running through arm tackles. He wants to change what that scoreboard is saying. Ball up to the 35 now as they come up on first and 10. Here’s Nicks. Now he’ll tuck this and run. Nice work to get seven out of that. And it’s second down. You know what I like about that play? He didn’t try to do too much on first down. He took what the defense gave him, put together a solid game to bring up second and manageable. Now they have a couple of plays to pick up just a few yards and a new set of downs. Now second and three. A shotgun snap and give to Dobins and he is met in his tracks behind the line of scrimmage. It’ll be a loss of a couple on the play. So now third down coming up. But these guys going to chop into that deficit. They g have to do a much better job in the run game. Caught behind the line of scrimmage. No yardage would be found. Knicks to the air. That’s taken in by Franklin. And he’ll be taken down, but not before he works it past the 50. That one good for 13 and a Denver first down. That’s good for a Broncos. First down. First and 10 at the 46 yd line. Of course, the catch was nice, but how about what happened after able to stay on his feet and gain all that additional yardage. So many of these slot guys, I think, have running back in their background. Now a handoff for Dobbins and he is going to be stopped cold behind the line of scrimmage. Two yards the loss. Second and 12. An interesting and intriguing decision there defensively because they kept extra DBs on the field despite seeing the multiple tight end look that came out for the offense. I thought they were going to switch out of it. I didn’t know if they felt they didn’t have time or what the case was. Well, in any event, the extra speed allowed for great penetration as they stuffed that one behind the line of scrimmage. Nothing on the screen that time. Now it’s third down. As a defense, you’re more balanced when you’re in zone coverage because you’re able to keep your eyes on the quarterback and see the play develop in front of you. They’re able to keep the quick pass in front of them and stop it right at the line of scrimmage. This offense in desperate need of a conversion as they come up on third down to throw is Knicks. He’ll try and do this himself and he’s going to be taken down at the 39. Clearly short of the first by a few yards. It’s a nine yd pick up on the play and that’s going to bring up a fourth down. That was a good effort there trying to do it on his own, but as a defender you’re in a tough spot because you have coverage responsibilities behind you and if you take off too quick to try and get him down, he might loft it over your head. So, better to track with your man defensively than try to go up and make a stop on the quarterback. Exactly right. What you’re hoping is that your guys in the front seven can get him down. And he won’t get there. They stop him a few yards short of the line to gain. The Broncos unable to convert here on fourth. And that will force a turnover on downs. The Chiefs offense now making their way back onto the field and it’s a unit last drive that did it all on the ground. Charles and they controlled it from the interior big on big, right? Offensive lineman versus defensive linemen. But you know, in order to keep the football moving downfield, other people have to get involved as well. Your wide receivers, your tight ends, lead runners, anything that you have possible to get in front and keep the ball moving. And now the defense may be looking out for a pass coming up [Applause] to throw. It’s Momes. And that one drops down. Incomplete. Good coverage there. Forced the ball free. And it’s second down. As expected. He’s gone to him several times in this game, but that’s the first time one has slipped from his grasp. I’ll bet he goes back to him though. He’s an excellent player. after the incomplete pass here now is second and 10. Now here’s Momes got his man complete over the middle. It’s Rice and they’ll get to him after a gain of seven to the 47 and three. coming up here looking for three yards to pick up the first shotgun snap to Momes. That’ll be caught by Rice and he’s going to be a yard short. A two yd pickup leads to fourth and one. Well, it looks like they got what they wanted. They got the completion, but they weren’t able to break any tackles or gain nearly enough yardage to pick up the first down. Now to be fourth and short. Here’s the Chief’s punter now as he’ll come on to kick this one away and the punt kicks out of bounds and they will spot it right at the 25 yd line. Denver’s offense ready to go again and a drive that stalled out last time. Went for it on fourth, didn’t get it. How does that translate here? I would imagine momentum’s with the defense. Definitely with the defense because anytime anyone goes for it on fourth down, that’s telling you as a defense that they you can’t stop us. We don’t think that you can. And when you actually do, that may put a little dent in the confidence of the offense the next time they hit the field. Yeah, we’ll see if they can bring that pride the offense this go around. Nick’s going to keep this himself. He’ll wind up getting right about four there on the scramble. And it’s second down. pick up. I think the defense surprised him there with that blitz on first down, but give him credit. Stayed cool under pressure and still found a way through the extra rushers for positive yardage. Well done. Second and six, just inside the 30 to throw. Here’s Nicks now. They set up the screen that’s complete and they take him down. Losing yardage back at the 27. It’ll go down as a twoyd loss and it brings up a third down. I don’t know how well our microphones are picking it up for those of you at home, but Charles, you and I can hear it. A lot of groans right now coming from this crowd. I don’t know if we’re picking up what’s happening in the stadium or from the people who are supporting this team at home because it’s coming through loud and clear to you and me. This offense, they’ve been stuck in neutral much of the game and on that last play, they actually went in reverse. I think this crowd would have liked neutral, don’t you? Yeah. Neutral would have strongly been preferred. They’ll take anything positive at this point. That one going for a gain of 11 and a Bronco first down. Well, they certainly had success throughout this contest getting him the ball in the passing game. And there he picks up another first down. Whatever they saw going into this one, they’ve been able to capitalize on it. And no adjustment has been made to take it away. Now it’s Nicks. completes it to Evan Ingram and he’s brought down. Another nice gain. That’s now 30 yards between those last two plays. Couple of first downs right in succession and this is an offense that can really use a good drive and they’re off to a fast start here. So now first and 10 in Chief’s territory at the 43. Dobbins running out of the gun and he’ll manage to pick up about four at second down. Nice chunk of yards on first down. It really opens up your options for what you want to do on second. You can go right back to him and hope he explodes or sucker the defense in before throwing over the top. From the 39 yd line, here comes second down and six. Here’s a give to Dobins and a short gain there down to the 37 yd line. You know that old expression, it’s not my night. It hasn’t been his so far. I don’t know if the legs are a little bit heavy. Sometimes having to hang out all day and play doesn’t exactly play to your advantage. But it’s been a tough go for him. And every time he looks up, somebody’s there defensively. That was the same case on that play. That is caught and they will eventually get him down, but he’s inside the five all the way to the three. They’re able to convert on third down and that sets up a first and goal. I don’t care what level of football you play. This one was a universal, wasn’t it? When we were kids and we played touch football, remember we get in these positions and you just say everybody go along and hope someone would come free. Harvey will score. Touchdown Broncos. [Applause] And maybe that’s the magic touch right there. They didn’t use him at all in the first half, at least running the football. But here they entrust him with some work down in the red zone. And he responds. One carry, one touchdown. And now the offense is going to stay out there as the Broncos will go for two. Broncos. They’ll try and throw for it. And now the pressure gets there and he goes down. So he couldn’t get rid of the football and that deficit stays right where it is. [Applause] after the touchdown. Lutz to kick it off. and he’ll go down as this drive will start at the 25 yd line. The Chiefs offense and Patrick Mahomes headed back onto the field and he’s been a nightmare to scheme against throughout this one. This defense has been totally taken apart and that is borne out in his numbers. He’s been terrific all game long. The KC offense out of the huddle ready for their next drive. And Charles, a very uninspired effort. The last time we saw them out there was a quick three and out. Then they punted the football. Yeah. And you never want to get stopped so soundly during a series, but what would be even worse now is letting it happen again right here. They’ve got to get going. 101 yards on the ground for him now on nine carries. They went with the nickel look defensively. So, they had five defensive backs in there. Didn’t help him stop the run. Yeah, I love that. The nickel look. Five cents, five DBs. But what also happens then, you take a big body off the field in order to insert that guy. So, you’re taking a big off or a little and often times you can run the football effectively against that defense. And he works it past the 30 almost to the 25. They get 17 more on that one. And another first down. Chiefs first down. First and 10 at the 26 yd line. Think they like this drive a little bit better there. Partner running game helping out, picking up some of the slack cuz remember the last drive they went three and out. throwing now is Momes and he’s going to find his man out of the back field. That’s complete. The result only four yards there on the play and it’ll be second down. He’s already proven to be a factor in the running game on this drive. Now he gets involved in the passing game. I think what we’re seeing here is the modern version of workhorse in the NFL, being able to run it and catch it with equal proficiency. And as they come to the line, they will not be able to get off another play as time has run out on this third quarter. We’ll return with more after this. You’re watching the NFL on a sports. Welcome back now to Denver. It’s the Chiefs with the lead and the football here as we get set for quarter number four. Second down and six now. Mahomes going to throw and this one is going to be off the mark. Too far out in front. Now you put just a little bit too much heat on that one. And when you throw it to the outside, you do have to be careful cuz you got to keep it away from the defender, but you also have to give your own guy a chance, too. The Chiefs on third down. They’ve had good success. Five for eight to this point. This will be third and six now. A shotgun snap as they’ll look to throw and he’s going to go down. They sack him back right around the 30. A welldesigned corner blitz that gets him for a loss of eight yds. We’ve seen him escape similar situations earlier in the game and get away from pretty good yardage. And that time they get him down. Yeah, they’ve had enough evidence that he can get away and run for good yardage, haven’t they? That time it felt like, okay, enough of this. Let’s play it the right way and get him on the ground before he does any damage. So, here we go. Maybe the biggest kick of the game forthcoming. This to put him a touchdown and a two-point conversion up. But kick here is good. And high fives for that one as that drive ends in three. From a defensive perspective though, I think maybe they’re saying, “Hey, we did what we needed to do. Kept this a one-sore game.” Yeah, without a doubt because they were able to bleed some time off the clock, right? Put themselves in a good position, but it’s not out of reach yet. Okay. Being able to hold them to a field goal means that they do have a chance to come back and win this game. After the field goal, here’s Buter to kick it away. And they’ll get him down inside the 30 at the 27. The Broncos about set to go on offense. And remember, despite giving up the field goal, this is still a one-sore game. They’re in need of the touchdown and a two-point conversion. A field goal on this drive likely doesn’t do them much good. Looking to put a drive together. And he’ll find Sutton on the right side. Complete. It’ll go as a gain of four. And that will bring up second down. This possession means so much for them. They’ve got to focus on this drive and find a way to make this a one possession game. Got to get a score. Yeah. So good with a field goal. Don’t necessarily need a touchdown. From the 31. Here’s second and six. off the play fake. Here’s Nicks. A throw right side here going to be incomplete at this point in the second half. One mistake on a forced throw could doom your chances of a comeback. So that’s the right call there to just throw that one away. So after the second down incompletion, they’ll come up now against a third and six. Growing Knicks. He’ll let this go deep for Sutton. And that’s caught inside the 30. And this will set them up nicely deep down at KC territory. A huge play there for Denver. 49 yds. First and 10 at the 20 yd line. Well, partner, that’s how you make a long drive. Suddenly, not so long anymore. One big play and they’re already in field goal range with designs on getting more than that. So, a big play as it gets him all the way down to the 20 now for first and 10. They’ll swing this out to Harvey. Give him maybe a yard. Quite the opposite from the previous big gainer. And that’s a good job there by the corner. And we do talk about this a lot that a lot of corners see their job as simply covering receivers. Tackling isn’t everyone’s thing. But in this case, he came up quickly and made a nice sure tackle. Nicks going to give to Harvey. He’ll get forward for three down to the 16 yd line. The completion on first didn’t get much. And now the run on second doesn’t get a whole lot either. Well, if you’re a good play caller, you’ve already looked ahead and anticipated this type of situation. Already down in his play sheet trying to dial up a big third down play. Out of the gun now on third down. Nick’s going to keep this himself. And for the moment, this will be a first down. But we have a marker on the field. Let’s see if this stands. So that flag obviously takes away the good yardage that they had on the play. And talk about a momentum shift because we can visibly see this celebration shifting from one side of the field to the other as soon as everyone saw the flag. Setting up a screen for Harvey and he went backwards. He’ll be down at the 30. So they’ll wind up losing five yards on the play and it’ll be fourth down. The whole idea of the screen pass is to fool the defense in a big way and create a big play. They weren’t fooled. Not one second. Not one bit. How about them figuring it out, diagnosing it, and spilling it for lost yardage. The kick by Lutz is good. And that’ll get the lead down to five. So, an interesting call there to take the three. And I guess they’re thinking that their hands were tied, but you know, fourth quarter that field goal might not help them that much in the air. Yeah. Eventually, they’re going to need the touchdown. The thinking must have been they didn’t feel confident about picking it up there. Hoping maybe on defense they can get better field position, get a turnover, get a better play, and then they’ll have a chance to attack the end zone. Following the main field goal, Luts to kick it away. [Applause] And he takes this near the 25. Just a little pass there. Call it the 26. The Chiefs offense and their quarterback set to take the field once more. And he has been masterful so far in leading this offense. He’s kept the mistakes to a minimum. He’s been on point with his passes and he’s generally been one step ahead of this defense all game long. The Chiefs offense about set to begin this drive. They have the lead obviously late in the game. I I guess the good news for them is if for some reason they would make a mistake, a field goal does the opposition no good. Everyone loves to have a little bit of a cushion and that helps you immeasurably. But the bottom line is do all the things that you’re taught in order to close out the game. Don’t even let that become an issue. Yeah. But still a onepossession game. And this one not fully over yet. So the opening play of the drive goes backwards. Now they’ll come up on second and 12 looking to throw is Momes. The tight end Kelsey has it over the middle. And this will be a gain of five as he gets it to the 30. Kelsey and there wasn’t much room for the big tight end to do much after the catch, but Liy was able to pick up a solid gain to help his offense continue to move in the right direction. Third down and six. [Applause] Now Momes. Now he’s going to step up and run. And he’ll be stopped right at midfield. That one a broken play, but it ends up being a good play. The scramble goes for 20. That’s good for a Kansas City Chiefs first down. It’s a gain of 20. Now that’s a killer because you think you got it absolutely covered and then he hot foots it out of there and picks up a first down. Drives you crazy as a defense. Looked like you’re exactly right. Looked like a for sure stop on third and then the tables turned. They’ll run out of the gun with Pacheco and for one of the first times tonight, he’s going to be held up at the line of scrimmage. No gain on the play. It’ll be second down. He’s having a big game running the football, but that one will hurt the yards per carry a little bit. Yeah, but the average he’s got so far, that’s the type of average he wants to take with him to contract negotiations, doesn’t he? From midfield, here’s Momes. Open man right side is Rice and he goes down but not before getting this inside the 25. The extra effort after the catch makes it good for a gain of 26 and also a first down. But appears that they read man defense and went to the out route. And what you have to do on that one is a receiver has got to make sure he works a defender towards the middle of the field to give himself space to cut to the outside and have that ball delivered with good timing. And they got it done. and he’s brought down, but he has it down to the 12 on a pick up of 12. First and 10 yards. That’s another Kansas City Chiefs first down. No doubt those are the types of carries they’re looking for here, Charles. The lead in the fourth quarter. This is when coaches that have a reliable running game, they breathe a little easier on the sideline. Yeah, they love the idea that they can take the air out of the football at this point of the game. That means they’re really counting on that offensive line, counting on the runners, taking care of the football because you’re going to tell you and he can’t find anywhere to go with it. And he goes down. Nick Bonito able to drop him that time for his second sack of the evening. Hindsight is 2020, partner. Maybe they should have kept it on the ground again. Well, it almost looked like the O line was run blocking again. I mean, they opened up a big hole last time. This time they opened up a hole and the quarterback got sacked. This drive’s taken more than three minutes off the clock already as they come up on second down. Here’s Momes to throw. And here you’re down in the red zone. You need to be smart, not force anything. So that’s a wise decision to just get rid of the football. Kelsey the intended receiver there. Third down here. We’ll see what they have drawn up here. A little bit behind the line. 12 yds needed to gain a first down from the gun on third down. Momes. Oh, the ball comes out on the hit, but they’ll say it’s incomplete. So, decision time now because a field goal keeps it a one-sore game. What are you thinking? Well, I’m looking at the down and distance and that’s where the issue comes in. It’s not short enough that it’s a no-brainer and you go for it. You have to analyze this one. To me, you take the field goal, take the point. I don’t think you want to risk coming away with nothing. But kick here is good. And that’ll push the lead up to eight. So, he remains perfect. Three for three in the field goal department. And it’s so important for any offense to have an ace like him up their sleeve, isn’t it? Because now you know what his range is. And as soon as your offense gets there, you’re pretty much counting on three points going up on the board. After the field goal, here’s Buter to kick it away. [Applause] And he will make it to the 20 yd line and no further. The Broncos offense and veteran receiver Courtland Sutton getting set for their next drive. And he’s had some kind of game. They made it a point to get him involved early and it has paid giant rewards to this stage of the game. Denver offense at the line ready to go. and last time able to get three. It’s not what they wanted. They wanted six, but they got at least something. They mustered something out of the drive. They’ll take it. Just I I like the way you’ve described it. Not ideal, but they’ll take it. Anything to put some points on the board, but this time on offense, they don’t even want to see the field goal kicker trot on the field. They want that ball in the end. They’ll be going for six. Operating from the 27 now. Here’s second and three. Out of the gun they go with Harvey and only able to get two here. Stopped at the 30. Pretty good job defensively. Thought he was going to get it, but they knew where that marker was and they stopped him just short of it. What it does is emphasize that strategic football and situational football is not just played on the offensive side, is it? Defense understanding, as you noted, where the first down marker was and making sure they didn’t get there. on the sneak. It’s Nicks and he will have a Broncos first down as they’re able to get the third down conversion. It’s a gain of a yard and a Broncos first down. I don’t know about you, but I like this call. Third and inches. And instead of worrying about getting it back to a running back and maybe there’s some penetration from the defensive front, just go ahead and take it, move forward and pick up the first down. And as we say often, shows confidence in your offensive line. Harvey now on first and 10 and able to break one tackle but then quickly brought down but a nice little gain. Nine yardds is the pick up there and they’ll have a second and one. You know what really fires up offensive lineman when the guy that is carrying the ball behind them can create his own space and break a tackle along the way. Ball on the 39. Here’s second down and one once more with Harvey. And he’s going to have a Broncos first down as he’s got this up to the 45 yd line. A gain of six. That’s good for a Broncos first down. Second and one. And people want to run the football. This is where every back in the league is supposed to do exactly what we just saw there. Pick up the first down. This quick pass complete to Sutton and this will be good for a pick up of nine to the 46. It’s a gain of nine brings up second and a yard at the Chiefs 46 yd line. [Applause] Fourth quarter down to the final two minutes and we’ve got a one-sore game. So, it’s Bronco football as we get you reset here. They come up on a second down now in a game that looks like it’s going to go down to the wire. And this time he’s able to take it down to the 42. Now, you’re right on the edge of field goal range. You still got time, but get up to the line of scrimmage and get set. First down. First and 10 at the 42 yd line. Plenty of time. All three timeouts still remain. Here’s first and 10 now. Quick hitter here. It’s complete. Now the Broncos are going to call the first of their timeouts as they’ll get it with just over 90 seconds to go in the ball game. Ah, that’s tough to play zone defense when they can just curl up right there in front of you. Yeah, absolutely. Well, we we talk about finding the soft spot defensively. How do you make sure they don’t find the soft spot like they did there? tough to do because what they normally will do is run routes that’ll pull you out of that spot that they want to get into. That’s what we call not taking the cheese, right? Don’t go for the mouse trap, but it’s hard to do because when you see a guy cutting that in that direction, you tend to go towards him. They’ll complete this to Ingram as tight end. Very sharp here to start this drive. Three for three. Yeah, I like the way he’s running this two-minute drill. Very sharp, very precise in throwing the football. First down. First and 10 at the 29 yd line. This is first and 10. They’ll look to throw. He’s going to let it go deep for the end zone and incomplete on the deep ball. That’s certainly not the worst thing. It stops the clock and let your offense catch its breath and lets us exhale a little bit. Now I expect them to call a couple plays in the huddle so they’re ready if a tackle happens inbounds. But just over a minute to go in the football game. Second and 10. He’s back to throw. A short throw to Ingram now. The Broncos going to use the second of their timeouts as they’ll get it with just a shade under a minute to go in the game. Let’s not quibble about the game there on second down. That was a positive play because that was a take what you can get situation. got out to the tight end. Now gives a much better opportunity to convert on third down. A big play looming on third down. Back to throw. That is incomplete. Well, they know anything less than a touchdown here at this late stage is going to be no good. They were going for it all right there, but it was just too hard to adjust to that one in the air and it winds up incomplete. The decision made for him. They’ve got to go. It’s fourth down. They’ll try it now with Harvey. And nowhere to go. He’s going to be stopped behind the line. They had to go for it with such little time remaining. And this long drive is going to wind up yielding nothing. So they’ve gone for it twice now on fourth down in this game and both times unsuccessful. I wish we could hear the headsets now between the head coach and the offensive coordinator. Now that they’re 0 for two, if they get into a third situation, head coach might say, “Hey, you got anything for this one?” Might get radio silence back. [Applause] Victory in the cards now for the Chiefs as they take a knee here. [Applause] [Applause] So, no shortage of offense in this game, but a very clean game, too, Charles. Each side got its points, but they did so without committing a single turnover. That’s so true. And it certainly felt like NFL football at its finest, right? You talk about the highest level from both of these offenses. Neither one of them afraid of taking risks and both of them aggressively pushing it down field. I did like, Brandon, how smart they were about going about their business though. They were highf flying, but they took care of the ball. Yeah, they did. And just keeping it clean in a game like this with all these points. You don’t see that very often, even at the highest level. Job well done by both sides. That’ll do it for us. I’m Brandon Goden alongside Charles Davis. Thanks to our entire crew as well. We’ll talk to you next time. So long, everybody.
