After watching the Hockey Hall of Fame game a few nights ago against the Leafs. I still can't believe this guy has not been inducted. They speculate it's based on his career numbers. I've followed him since he was with the Flyers. Then became a Caniac, specifically because he went to Carolina Hurricanes. Of all of the deserving people granted the honor of being inducted, Rod's career speaks for itself. I cannot think of a single player that deserves it more, and has been passed up as many times as this guy. Come on, Ron Francis, and the rest of the committee, do better! Make 2026 the year to make it right! CANIACS, MAKE SOME NOISE!!

  1. Yep. Blows my mind that he isn’t already in it. Hopefully this year fingers crossed

  2. It better happen this time or riots should ensue! /s

Can’t believe I had to add the “/s” but people are people evidently

  3. I think this upcoming year is his 14th year of eligibility? I don’t think this year, but one of the years after he’ll have a good shot with the 15+ years of eligibility rule

2027 in particular should be a big catchup year, the best HOF case for first-year eligible players is probably Pavelski. This year should help aid that too, with just Bergeron being a 1st ballot lock. I have a feeling (at least) one of LeClair or Curtis Joseph gets in this year. Joseph is in his 15th year of eligibility and LeClair is now in his 17th year, but there were more competitive ballots in the last couple years.

Brind’Amour’s main competition in 2027 entering 15+ years of eligibility would be Keith Tkachuk.

  4. As compensation for having to wait so long Rod, Rod’s Left Pec, and Rod’s Right Pec should all go into the Hall of Fame.

Rod’s Grey Spit Curl should be awarded the Stanley Cup.

  5. He should go in as a builder if nothing else. What he’s done for this franchise as a player and coach cannot be overstated. He is the Carolina Hurricanes

  6. It doesn’t really matter in terms of eligibility but my head canon is that they’re just waiting for his coaching career to finish.

  7. For all he has done for the Canes as a player and a coach and even during his Flyers days he’s been long overdue for the Hall of Fame…..it will not hurt Francis to cast that vote for Rod and the plaque words can be added on when he wins a cup as a coach.

  8. The other thing that gets me is, it’s the hall of fame, not only based on points. People all around the league, both team sides and executive sides, recognize how good he was at faceoffs, and how his fitness changed how players approached their own fitness. He was so good in faceoffs, that he was part of the reason for, and involved in, the change of faceoff rules right after he became coach. The hall is for impact on the game, not just points, so I’d think those two things should have bumped him over the line for it, even if critics are saying his points or trophies aren’t enough
